Fantastic beer selection! Â Best in the area. Â The bar gets a bit smokey, but the beer makes up for it. Â The crowd is generally friendly and the bartender is patient with people who aren't familiar with all of the beers. Â The prices aren't cheap, but the quality is great. Â Definitely a place to check out!
Review Source:In a vacuum, I would have to give this place four stars. But I feel the need to review it against the other great happy hour spots in the area which takes it down a star. I just don't see the point in going here if I can go to Anthony's Micro Pub on 2nd, for a few reasons:
- Anthony's serves free pizza, Shady's doesn't.
- Shady's is extremely smoky, Anthony's isn't.
- Anthony's has great bartenders, Shady's doesn't.
- Shady's has restrictions on which beers are half priced during happy hour, Anthony's doesn't (Except for DFH 120).
I've enjoyed myself when I've been here, but I just don't see going anymore when I can go to Anthony's for the above reasons.
Love the beer selection. Service can be a bit slow but the bartenders are fairly friendly and helpful with the beer. Contrary to what another poster on here wrote- this is exactly what Harrisburg has needed, a relatively low key bar with GREAT beer. If you want cheap beer, there's a number of bars downtown but if you are a true beer person, like I am, this is def a place to go. Minus one star for it being smokey but other than that no complaints.
