The problem with the HMAC is the fact that it's mostly trash. The owner is delightful and him and his art collection are the best part of the HMAC. The downside are the completely obliterated drunks you will find most nights and the quality of 90% of the music coming out of this place. Go here if you have to, but wear a rubber suit and possibly some dark glasses. Better yet, stay home & stay classy.
Review Source:This is hands down my absolute favorite place to be. It has even become a bit of a second home to me.
I've been going to Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center ever since I moved to Midtown about four years ago. There is always something going on especially when it comes to music and art. I'm a photographer and I'm able to practice a lot of my music photography here because of that.
Aside from that the owners are wonderful and kind people as well as the bartenders. They always remember me which I always appreciate and have even become friends of mine over the years.
The drinks they serve are always at a reasonable price especially for how much you get in each glass. All of the shows are cheap, you rarely have to pay over five dollars to get in.
Another thing I love about here is that there is a broad variety of events that they hold. They cater to almost everyone with every music genre, style of event and type of art in their gallery. It's a beautiful open space with plenty of bathrooms and dim lighting which I always see as a major plus.
I highly recommend this location to anyone and everyone, you're guaranteed to love this place after a few trips.
Wednesday nights are my favorite here. Â Its open mic - and you don't get your usual trove of trolls you get at most open mics. Â It has never disappointed. Â Even the musicians who are bad are laughable, but those who are good are whoa.
Strong cheap drinks add to a fantastic atmosphere. Â I really do like this place.
