Still the best club for dance and edm! Been going for a while now, do have to say that back in early 2000's were the best to go though.

I love the Lizard Lounge.  It's pretty much the only place a girl can go to get her edm on. I got to see Ferry Corsten and he was amazing. The venue is a lot smaller than I remembered when I saw Paul van Dyke back in the day. I wouldn't pay extra for VIP because the people up there were just sitting. The vibe in the VIP section was really lame- they were too mellow. The random  flat screens are also a little cheesy with their James Bond-like  silhouettes playing all night.

I was really amused to see such a wide range of age groups. I swear I saw high schoolers and people that could be my parent's friends.

It's fairly affordable to come here, it's usually around $15 to get inside, $3 coat check, free parking, and $5 valet. The drinks are about $8 and a bottle of water is $4.

My only gripe is that the headliner usually comes on at 1am... It's a little late for this princess but for the right artist, you know I'll be front center fist-pumping.

I heard on Sundays this venue goes goth. I'm soo curious to see how they dance. ^_^

Lizard Lounge....where the DJ's take center stage!  No, literally.  There is a small stage at the edge of the main dancefloor and the DJ is in the center of it.

A recent Saturday night my good friend's assistant at his work was spinning a set at Lizard Lounge, so we decided to give it a go.  It had been a good 25 years since I had been to that space (watching Tackhead and Gary Clail play a show there when it was Empire Ballroom in the eighties).  If you don't know how to get there, no worries.  You cannot find Lizard Lounge.  The only way to get there is to stumble into it while driving in its general direction.  We were partly successful in that regard, requiring only one re-direct by a confused valet who was trying to kick us out of his lot. A few moments later and we were there.  There is a large lot attached which is free to park, so if you can fit, its the way to go.

And now comes the big hurdle - $15.00 cover for over 21 (I think $20.00 for under).  We paid, grudgingly, and made our way in.  The music was heavy, HEAVY, on trance.  Can't say if it was just the DJ's spinning for that night, or whether that represents the status quo for Saturdays.  I updated my status on Facebook with location and was immediately barraged by queries like: "They let adults in there?"  Hear me out.  Yes, very few adults...at least when I was there.  Which meant the Bartenders were not busy.  And which meant that the bartenders knew the only person they were getting tips from was ME.  And the handful of other adults.  Which means strong drinks and attentive service.

So what else is the place good for?  People watching, for sure.  Saw a young-ish kid in a leather sleeveless hooded vest shuffle out onto the dancefloor and kinda start getting the groove.  This progressed over the course of a few minutes, his dancing getting more and more intense as the music reached a crescendo. At which point the kid starts dancing into overdrive as his hoodie-vest bursts into light from bulbs hidden in the seams and powered by some unseen battery.  Crowd goes crazy.  Almost worth it just to see that.

Almost.  A $15.00 cover is a real deal-killer for me.  I can catch a national touring act for that price at the Granada.  Or have three killer drinks at Slip Inn.  The economics of it make no sense to me (given how few adults were there, and given the potential returns possible from liquor sales).  So you probably won't see me there again. But it was still interesting to see Atomic Hoodie Boy and his dance of power.  Cheers, Hoodie-Boy, wherever you are! Oh, wait.  You're too young to drink.  Scratch that.

    I love lizard lounge
I have been coming here for years and it's always a fun filled, zero drama night.

The club itself is quite pretty with two dance floors. The main room is two levels (the top floor balcony being often reserved for VIP tickets for dj event nights) and a back room where you'll usually find the resident Djs.

It's not always open but there is also a side open air patio and a roof patio.
They attract big name Djs and that's usually when we visit....like I said its always fun friendly atmosphere.

I have to state that lizard lounge is really young..l I mean really young and the crowd is certainly the techno/electronic/house crew..furry boots, glow sticks and more often than not very skimpy outfits of bikini tops and club wear.

The sound system is fantastic and there is a reason this club has managed to stay alive over all these years!!!

There's a reason why this place is world famous and how they get such high profile artists.

I have a blast everytime I come and they have chairs and tables for those (like me) that aren't dancers and like taking a break from shaking it about. lol

This place is cool, but you need to be aware of what you are getting yourself into: Eclectic people, loud techno in multiple rooms, and don't go to meet women because most of them are too young and in their own world. Go to dance. I do talk to people outside, everyone is friendly of course.

21+ is almost an afterthought, though they treat you better than most of these 18+ party places. It's not tough to get a drink, and the bartenders are generally nice. I've seen them get sassy when I order a water, which angers me because:
    a) I've been buying drinks and *tipping* (well) all night
    b) These kids need water with all the weird chemicals and dancing
But I suppose I can understand it would be frustrating to be a bartender at an 18+ place. They ought to put some water coolers out as a community service.

I've been here for 3 or 4 big names and twice for the normal weekend DJ's and I've enjoyed both thoroughly.  The quality of the sound was excellent in both rooms, the outdoor smoking area is adequate, if barely. Unless the upstairs deck is open: Then its great. The local DJ's were good, and able to keep me dancing until 3 or 4, which is all I ask. It's nice to have your choice of two or three rooms so you can mix it up. The third room is the upstairs deck, though I've never seen a DJ up there in my visits. There are a few side rooms with couches for taking a break, some tables in the main room if you are early or lucky, and an upstairs balcony for watching in the main room. I think you have to be VIP to get up there, but I've never been interested.

My only bad experience was showing up for the Fetish ball (technically The Church, not the Lounge). Turns out you can't come in wearing blue jeans. I'd been to the website several times and this was not prominently mentioned or I would have noticed. My friend had gone in ahead of me and wasted his money. Door guy was a jerk about it, but door guys are supposed to be jerks so I didn't take offense or decrease my stars.

They do something funny with credit cards so don't open a tab unless you understand the rules first. I think they charge a certain amount minimum, I didn't understand it but one of my friends got burned by it.

I went here with some friends for the first time last year.  A friend of mine is involved with SUSCON and their party was there.  We all had a great time, VERY friendly people, and the sideshow was great!  Had never been to anything like that.  I'm not a very club-oriented person which is why I only gave it 4 stars...but I had a lot of fun that night!

$1 for TAP WATER cup?? is that even legal? What kind of ghetto place is this where they put a "deposit fee" of $50 when you pay something with plastic!

Not even in the posh clubs from Scottsdale AZ you have that service.

I really enjoyed my first foray into the Lizard Lounge.  My friend and I went to see Basshunter here the other night and WE.HAD.A.BLAST!!!

Upon purchasing the tickets, we didn't know what the difference could be between regular admission and VIP except that one said 18+ and the other 21+.  We went with our gut instinct and purchased the VIP tickets and, boy, were we glad we did!!  The VIP section in the Lizard Lounge is nice and they don't sell tickets to the point of overcrowding upstairs.  There were just about enough people in the VIP section to move around comfortably and not get sweated on.  So, I highly recommend you buy VIP tickets if you are able to.  Also, get there early enough so you can nab those comfy chairs with the rockin' view!!

Even if we didn't come for the Basshunter show, this place would be a great place to dance in.  The music here is solid!!!  DJ Johnny Funk spins really good mixes and is the regular DJ at Lizard Saturday nights.  (PLUS, he's a sight for sore eyes!!)  ;)

Will definitely be back.  All the staff we encountered was friendly and the drink prices weren't ridiculously overpriced either.

Lizard Lounge is one of the first clubs that I went to when I turned 18.  Amazing the place has survived all of these years later.  It's been about 8 or 9 years since I've been here, and I'm pretty sure that was when I saw BT play outside, but had to be moved inside because of a big rain storm.  I was here this past Saturday for BT again.  We had VIP tickets so go to go upstairs, which I'm glad my friend bought those.  The dancing sweaty kids below us would have worn me out so fast.  Upstairs we were able to chill and find a pretty decent spot to stand, although the huge ass chandelier blocked my sight of seeing BT's head some time.

I loved this place when I was younger, and I loved going to the Church on Sunday's, so it was kind of fun taking a peak back inside and sort of reliving those memories.  I'm definitely in no rush to go back, but that's just because this place is not my scene any longer.

My two complaints are one, the bartender upstairs. Damn she was so weird that she was charming and that made it hard to get mad at how long it took to get a drink.  She was sooo slow.  Then secondly, BT did not come on until 1am.  1AM!!!  I know this is a dance club and all, and they are open until 4am, but still.  An hour or so in it was way past bed time, dudes, so I left when everyone else seemed to be in full swing.  Oh well.  At least I got to enjoy some of the show.

PS - if you get a chance hang outside and chat up the hot dog vendor, do it!  He was cracking me up while I was waiting for my friends to arrive.  He was borderline creepy, but harmless, and full of silly comments.

Great spot for music.  Rooftop deck and all.  Deep Ellum is a must see for you ppl that have not been there.  Probably the only thing Dallas has ever seen related to culture.

I was lucky enough to play here on tour in 2008.

The venue itself is really, really nice. I was impressed with the decor of the main room where we were playing that night. Had kind of a "intimate theater" vibe.

I also liked that there was a second bar area with a DJ playing music for anyone who wanted a break from the main room attractions.

Sound was great and was clearly a priority for this venue and worked great with the electronic music featured the night we played.  Also, for bands, there was a nice dressing room upstairs that was a far cry from some of the "broom closets" we got to prep in at other venues on that tour.

All in all a great experience and I hope to play here or attend an event here again in the future.

    Love this club!!

It's always bouncing and holding an event for whatever turns you on.

Theres always something interesting happening with this club. On Sundays its a kickin Goth club called "The Church." Watch out on Fridays, it's usually packed with the younger crowd high on X; this is the only thing that sets it back...

It has a balcony to watch over the dance floor, a patio area for smokers, and an extra room with a bar to escape the more crowded center dance floor.

Has a great selection of electro Djs that play unique sounds every week.

Come out and see me! :)

The cost for the VIP tickets is worth it (I've never noticed more than a $10 difference). It gets really hot in there and even more crowded. When we didn't get VIP tickets last time, I swear I have NEVER been to a show that packed in. It was insane. Unfortunately the heat rises in a big, sweaty way into VIP, but if you drink enough it's not a big deal.

The drinks are pretty $$ and not as strong as they should/could be bc of the cost, but the bartenders are really nice, not the typical douche-y ones you think you might find in DT Dallas.

Parking is free valet (I think it's free? Not more than $5...), can't beat that!

A good place all around, but definitely not great. I'll be back, but every time I go, I notice I wear less and less clothing... o.O

This place is the reason why I love electrohouse music and where I used to spend most weekends back when I lived in the DFW. There's a couple of rooms to dance your ass off and a nice patio deck to chill out.

Nights can be a hit-and-a-miss especially with the music and atmosphere. I tend to enjoy it when it's crowded with a featured electronic artist and that's when I usually meet amazing, friendly, unpretentious ravers. I also randomly stopped by for Schoolgirl Night and an intense pole dancing competition. Otherwise, it can be a waste of an expensive $15-$25 cover + expensive drinks + having to observe awkward teenagers stomping with glowsticks at a distance.

From what I've previosuly heard from this place is that its hit or miss. But When a friend and I went here to the Electric Daisy Carnival afterparty hosted by Tritonal, It was all kinds of hit in my book.

Positives - The layout is wonderful, there are a few places for the artist to set up so its not the same feeling everytime. There are multiple first floor bars and one upstairs on the balcony.

Negatives - The drinks were a bit too pricey, but 7 dollars for a Redbull vodka isnt too bad when compared to other places. Ahem - Vegas.

Cant really complain about the cover charge when you get in for free *Thanks someone*, but I think it was 15 dollars which is never bad.

If your going to a show at the Lizard Lounge in Dallas, It will definitely be worth the visit.

Bottom line: Dirty club full of kids on drugs. Horribly crowded during popular shows. Expensive drinks. Long bar lines. Sound system is decent in the main room.

I try to avoid this club as best as I can but it seems that all the electronic artists I like get booked here. Thankfully there's not too many of them that come around to Dallas.

The Church on Thursday and Sunday nights is actually pretty fun. I wish they would play harder industrial music but I can still dig it. It's like a circus some nights.

I have been going here for years, not only due to the international djs that play here in a weekly basis and all the great local talent but for the Thursdays and Sundays  industrial night. Friday and Saturday night gets a pretty young crowd but the djs are always worth seeing.

The industrial night is really where its at for both nights, during holidays you will find its normally packed. They have coupons on the website from time to time but the 80's new wave and dark wave music is spot on. You will have a very mixed crowd of people and normally a happy hour til 10 or 11 but check the website to be sure. During the summer months they have an upper patio which has gorgeous views of downtown Dallas at night and for events such as Meltdown or summer meltdown they open the back parking lot up so that they can accommodate the crowds.  Since you cant smoke inside there is a lower patio as well which alot of times draws a huge crowd to hangout.

This place is worth checking out if you are in the area.

I've been here several times with my bff, who used to frequent Lizard Lounge in her younger clubbing days.  There are some really good DJs that spin here, both local and national acts, and I am a big fan of all the different rooms and areas in the building.  There's the main room with dance poles on either side of the huge screen and an upstairs lounge area, the smaller dance room with a different DJ, a back room that I never really spent much time in, the rooftop and an outside patio area used mostly by smokers.

Drinks are expensive and there are kids on X everywhere but if you're into that kind of music and looking to dance your ass off, you can definitely have a good time here.  Watch out for flying glowsticks!!

Dallas' main club for large name DJ's in 2009 I saw Benny Benassi, Fischer Spooner, and Sharam. The Lizard Lounge brings in the best dj's from all over. The atmosphere is relaxed and not stuffy, but at some shows the crowd is young because they are an 18 and over club. The sound in the club is strong but not at hearing damaging levels. Resident DJ's are fun and you can dance in any room. Cover is usually resonable, this club has stayed in business for so long by doing Dallas Dance Music well.

what can you do? you want to hear techno. you want to see that dj you haven't seen in years. sorry, you're going to have to suck it up and go to the lizard.

it's a black hole. walls, floor, ceiling. it feels dirty. someone may burn you with a cigarette and chances are it's menthol ,and they are 17 and rolling for the first time. just sayin.

that being said they bring in the techno. they bring in the DJ's, and there are people to make fun of everywhere you look. and if you are one of the 17 year old kids experimenting to find your place in the world, it's a place you can go, and i'll only chuckle. that's all. just a chuckle.

    so rave on candy raver.

I am from La and I am an Electronic music-phile. I wasn't sure what the House music scene in Dallas was like, so I did a little of bit research and thanks to Larry and Sergey, I ended up at this place. I did a quick yelp of the place and found favorable reviews. One thing I don't want a club to be is pretentious; I come from the land of pretentiousness, that's the last thing I want.

I checked their website, found out that John O Callaghan was spinning that night, (01/23) a Friday. I've been wanting to see him spin for a long time now. SO I head there at around 10:30pm and find parking in the lot adjacent to the club. Well, we didn't have to pay anything, just the way I like it. Bouncers were cool, the chick at the counter, hmm not so friendly, a smile goes a long way sweetheart!

Anyway, 10$ to get in that night, sweet!. The club has two dance floors, or is it three? I couldn't say, I was in the main room most of the night. The place itself is decent sized and also has a lounge area. The first thing I noticed was a lot of people with glow sticks, well, I now know for sure that I am in the right place.

Mixed drinks were $7 a pop, cheapest beer was $5. I danced most of the night, and didn't care about mingling with anyone. JoC played a nice set, the local DJ takes over after the main act and I guess they close at 4am. The club also features go-go dancers and screens with psy visuals. The restrooms were OK.

All in all, a nice place to see your favorite DJ spin.
BTW, the best thing about TX clubs, you can smoke inside the club. Whoo hoo!

It's a great place to either lounge or dance your ass off.  Plenty of space on both floors to do both.  Bars are great, but have the expected high Deep Ellum prices.  This club has a proper audio system.  The BASS is booming, which is a requirement for good House or Industrial (The Church) music.

The house DJ's are alright.  The real highlights are events like Meltdown, when there's thousands of people just having fun.

A great place to go on a Friday or Saturday night.

I had a lot of fun here.  I went on the road with my boyfriend's band while he was on tour and they played here while in Dallas.
The stage was a blast - with the poles and the awesome layout.  Everyone loved being able to spread out and ham it up on the risers.
I love the upstairs set-up as well - it's own bar with tables and chairs looking over the railing.
The best was their hospitality - especially when it came to the dressing room.  It was HUGE with tons of mirrors and lockers and places for 13 people to get ready without elbowing each other.
This place could really teach other venues a lesson and how to have a "dressing room" set-up!

I love this place! I've been going here for years and it's that rare dance club that can stick around for 10+ years. There's a reason why.

Great music and big dance floors.

Hah, so...Lizard Lounge...not really my scene so much, I don't know how to dance like a goth and I can't give you a glowstick show, but I still love going here on occasion.  It's a fun place, they have theme nights once in awhile which if you don't like theme party type stuff then you suck.

The physical setup of this place is awesome, there are 2 levels, downstairs there's a main dance area with attached bar, a bar when you walk in, a smaller dance area with bar, an outside smoking patio and a room with like sex swings or something, anyway, upstairs there is another bar and you can look down on the main dance floor.  There are couches in a little back area which I'd never dare sit on if you know what I mean, anyway, it's just a cool little place, so go check it out,

Likely unless you're pretty alternative you'll stick out, but the point of being alternative is that you don't want to be judged by the mass, last I remembered, so hopefully they won't judge you either.

I forget if its Lizard Lounge or the other nights that are more gothie than others, but I'd go any night anyway.

This place is perfect at being what it is--a loungey "cool" dance club.
    Unfriendly "too cool" doorman--check.
Big hair, big boobs, blonde bartender at the 1st bar by front door--check.
Peanut gallery "spy" balcony above the dance floor with facing each other oversized armchairs and table between--check
    VIP room--check
highceiling center of everything dance floor with elevated stage--check
rotating light show and means-nothing graphic video displays on multiple flat-screens--check
I am a DJ god and I know it and I am directly responsible for creating you experience tonight and I will keep my body and fingers moving and bumping to the music--check
Too many "staff (ie bouncers)" coursing through the venue but offering no assitance--check
Lound sound system (bartender can't hear your order)--check
    Average age of attendee 21.5--check
    Scantily clad girls--check
    Baseball hat backwards boys--check
    Glow-stick dancing dudes--check

So I was here  about 10pm on a Fri night (beat the cover charge) and admittedly not all that long--it was one of the "techno" nites although I wouldn't really call it techno, more of a modern disco beat.  And yeah, it was pulsing.  I imagine if I had stayed later it would have really gotten packed and more people would have hit the floor, and if I had enough drinks in me and good company I would have joined them and it would have been fun except maybe fighting to the front of the "bars".  Can't really call them bars, because to me a "bar" should have stools in front so you can sit and enjoy respite from the madness around you and actually talk to the bartender.
But alas, as a relocation transplant to Dallas checking out things in advance of my wife and family arriving I was touring nightlife alone and at 39 felt "way old."
But the DJ really was good, and the lights and sound are well executed, and if you are "young and cool" you'll feel like this is the center of the universe.

There is street parking out front (careful of the 2 hour limit that is enforced 24/7) or a paid private lot.

Some dude has his weenie stall out front as well, but the street stank of sewage so I'd say ixnay on that one.

    Party on beautiful people!

Am I 12, hating life and my parents, and trying to fit into the "alternative" genre by LOVING the Lizard Lounge??? Maybe. Am I ashamed? Hell no! I LOVE the Lizard Lounge. There. I just said it.

My first time at the lounge was to see the RITM Dj set. The lounge is a smallish looking old brick building in Deep Ellum, with a nice sized parking lot, and some street parking as well. When you walk in the door there is a room to your right with couches, a dance floor and patio, a staircase in front of you leading to a seated upstairs VIP-"esque" area, and a bar on your left which leads to ANOTHER bar, and eventually another dancefloor, Dj booth, and area with tables and seating.

I love the Lizard Lounge because it's a fucking blast whether there are two or two hundered people there. The music is ALWAYS good (I've now been on three different nights), and drinks are usually a good price. ($5 for RITM, but only $2.50 for The Church).

It's open until 4, so the party doesn't start "jumping" until late (usually around 1). There are all types at the Lizard Lounge, ravers, punks, goths, normal looking adults, teens, etc. etc. I love it because the staff and crowd are so friendly, and it's not an "I'm more emo/punk/edgy than you" vibe.

The best part of dancing there is that everyone is super fucked up and dances like a psycho, so it's pretty IMPOSSIBLE to focus on anything but having a kick ass time here. Cheap to get wasted, kosher to be obnoxious. Five stars. Duh.

This place is Legendary.  The best of what Dallas has to offer.  It's been in existence for ever and has outlasted most clubs in the Dallas.  It's evolved with the various scenes and even blazed a couple of paths.  I used to go to the Church all the time and it is still goin strong!  The acts they bring in are world class and the Lounge is what puts Dallas on the world map of clubbing destinations.  If you're new to the area and want to check out the Night life, this is the perfect starting point.

Seattle to Boston. LA to Miami been there and partied hard. Lizard Lounge has a special place in my heart. The Lights, the sound system and the DJ's OMG...GLOBAL. Fridays and Saturdays is the techno, house, trance party with either very good local dj's or mind blowing global DJ's. Sundays is The Church and trust me everyone is welcome and the crown knows how to have a good time way into the weee early hours.
The club looks like a gutted 1920's theater and the dance floor is the orchestra pit and stage. The second floor overlooks the main dance floor for some amazing views and instead of a smoke machine it's bubbles. The club has plenty of chill areas and high energy dance space and spills out into the parking lot when they host massive events. NEVER a dull night.

I've lived everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE.. and rarely have I found a club that welcomes so many different walks of life with open arms. The bartenders are absolute sweethearts, and the DJs are spot on. Even the valet guys are nice, and occasionally don't charge if they like you. Thursdays and Sundays The Church takes over LL, and those, IMO, are the best, if not the ONLY nights to go, if you like synthpop or indstrial or anything with a good dancebeat. There are two dancefloors and a freaken sweet patio where you can lounge around and enjoy the oppressive Texas heat and be fashionably anti-social or social, whatever your preference. My only caveat is the door guy is a little arrogant. I used to go there literally every Thursday and Sunday and I have a valid out of state ID and EVERY TIME I go there he examines it like I just stepped out of a fucking spaceship. But the dealings with him are brief and once you're in, get crunked and danse your ass off.

This place is pretty awesome.Usually  there's different types of music going on in the two different rooms. And if you need to just chill out you can go outside onto the deck. This is a really good place to go if you're a raver. I usually see a lot of people with their photons. They also have girls dancing on platforms in one of the rooms. The first time I went I was walking through the place, and I found this look nook where there's some chairs and tables where all the really messed up people go. It was pretty funny. overall though this place is pretty nice. the djs are usually awesome. naughty school girl night is the best time to go though.

If you love electronic dance anthems, happy vocal trance, drum & bass or hip hop, you need to visit the Lounge Friday and Saturday nights. The crowd is very predictable depending on which resident DJs are being featured. Any performance by DJs Raydar, Shaolin or Frankieboy are always welcomed.

The venue itself is not in its best shape from all the years it has been in business in the Dallas dance music scene. If you want to go somewhere for the ambiance, don't step foot there. If you don't care to go somewhere to see or be seen, aren't a clothing label whore and like to chill with the locals and shoot the breeze over a beer or glow stick, then this is your next hangout.

This club is really two clubs, depending on which night you happen to go. Other than thursdays and sundays it's the Lizard Lounge, which usually holds a left of center eclectic group of bassheads and ravers, most of which have a pretty good story for the lounge. A very tolerant group, given the lounge way back when was boys only.

However, if you do come on Church night, it's where the goth crowd comes out. Don't be pretensious unless you're really, really good at it. Wear lots of black. Wife beaters and sports jerseys will not be allowed in. Enjoy the 80's/Industrial spread across the club's two rooms.

The club has a lot of history, even filming Pat Benatar's "I love Rock & Roll" in it's confines. Not a bad place to go.
