Oh boy. Â Our night at L'Scorpion was going fine until a large, drunk, sweaty man started talking to us and put his giant mitt right on my friend's knee while he stood over her, completely in her space. Â When she asked him not to touch her, instead of backing off like a normal person, he asked, "Why?" Â When she told him it was because she didn't know him and he made her uncomfortable, and when the rest of us chimed in to say, "Dude, come on," he finally walked away, muttering. Â And what did he mutter? Â "You must not know Hollywood."
So, obviously, fuck that guy, but - it is kind of true that the Hollywood night scene is a terrible cesspool full of disgusting garbage people who think it's okay to grab anything in sight as long as it's female. Â I'm not saying that every man who goes out in Hollywood is a disgusting garbage person, but good grief! Â There sure are enough that almost every Hollywood night comes with at least one gross unwanted encounter!
Anyway, I suppose I can't blame L'Scorpion for this man's actions. Â I came with a big group on a Saturday night and had a good time. Â We arrived on the early end of things, and getting drinks and finding seats was pretty easy. Â We settled in on an L of cushioned seats in the back room, and didn't give these up for the rest of the night. Â I'm glad we got them. Â I liked L'Scorpion when it was more or less empty, but as the night went on, the place became crowded, filling up with the kind of shiny-shirted shiny-faced men who look ready to molest after one beer.
I wasn't drinking this night, as I was recovering from a rather long hangover, but the tequila selection looked interesting. Â A few of my friends ordered tastings that came with five shot glasses of sipping tequila. Â I think the atmosphere was a little more geared toward shooting tequila, but I could get behind a tequila tasting at least in theory. Â There was also plenty of beer and other alcohol available. Â Prices seemed fair enough.
We had a good time most of the night, but I would not care if you told me I could never go out in Hollywood again. Â I hate L'Scorpion less than average, since it's easy to get into and you don't have to pay to sit down. Â Still, I'm not exactly yearning to go back.
