Good bar, good prices, great live music.
The bands they book are really good. I've heard some great sounds here, but the band area takes up a lot of space and they seem to really pack people in lately. Â The layout is kinda awkward too, but...what can you do. Â The bartenders are usually really friendly. Â
There's a decent sized smoking area through the back where you can still hear the band, which is awesome, but again they really pack people in, so it gets crowded. Â
Use to be a favorite, somewhat hidden gem, but I guess the spots blown! Â I'll still come back, just maybe a little earlier. Â Happy for the Piano Bar, really, just wish it held on to it's non-hollywood vibe with the crowds.
Once upon a time, I lived on Selma and Schrader, a mere block and a half away, and I frequented this small bar with a New Orleans vibe. These days, I visit only on pub crawls or when friends are in town. But I have such fond memories of this fantastic bar.
It does get quite crowded in the evenings - particularly on weekends - and for such a small place, you do have to be patient with the bar staff and crowd around you. I prefer to sit at the bar, so I'm always within earshot of a bartender.
Even though I only issued four stars, I LOVE THIS BAR. If only it were just a little less crowded. But I know can't blame everyone else for liking such an incredible, local bar. GO! VISIT! And then don't tell anyone else, so that we can all keep it for ourselves. ;)
