Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre

Shows are $5, there are plenty of bars nearby, the theater is intimate and has good acoustics, and most importantly, the improv comedy here is top notch. I've never walked out of a UCB show feeling like the comedians hit too many awkward / non-funny moments. They constantly wow you with their ability to think so quickly on their feet that you think it must have been planned, except you know there's no way it was.

Parking in the area is a nightmare - valet for Birds, Franklin & Co, and UCB for $7 right outside of Bird's (Westmost establishment on the block).

A+, 5 stars, 10/10, etc. etc.

This is the cream of the crop when it comes to improv!  I love that the UCB's ticket prices are totally affordable and you get to see comedy celebrities and HILARIOUS improv.  I was visiting from Colorado and am a HUGE fan of improv, so I was beyond excited to get to see a show.  I would definitely recommend buying your tickets online ahead of time and when they say 'line up 15 minutes ahead of time', you might want to consider lining up 30 minutes ahead of time if you're set on getting perfect theatre seats.  I went on a Friday and it was relatively busy with the restaurants and coffee shops on the block.  

I would recommend the UCB for anyone who wants to see a great show (and pee their pants laughing in the process) and wants to hang out in a fun little area of L.A.
