If I could give this place a negative 1 star, I would.  This is not "Thai" cuisine, it's just more local garbage.  A few months ago I ordered my favorite Thai dish "Gra-Prow" (translation, fresh basil) with chicken.....why did the chicken look like it was curded?!?!  Chicken breast meat is supposed to be smooth in texture not look like an old sweater covered in fuzz balls.  This dish is also supposed to have peppers in it bell and chili/jalopeno.  This restaurant provided what was supposed to be pad thai at a multicultural event at the local college and it just looked like swill, hot garbage.  The picture on this page of pad thai looks nothing like what was delivered to the school.  The people who rave about this place need to leave this town if they want to experience real Thai cuisine.  A few suggestions:  Bangkok City in east Dallas, Archie's (yes! Archie's) Thai kitchen in Las Vegas, Bua Thai Cuisine in Washington DC, Thai Flavor in Waldorf Maryland - GO ANYWHERE BUT THIS PLACE!

Pad Thai was great and so was the Asparagus (ordered with shrimp this visit). Everyone loved their order (which is saying something with a group of nine people).  One thing to know ahead of time is that a 15% gratuity is included on all groups of 6 or more and only one check for the table.

    I'll be back for sure.

It's been years since I've been to the other location, which I used to love.  Either my tastes have really evolved or this place is not-so-much anymore.  I think it's both.  We went out of our way because I really wanted to eat here.  Needless to say, my husband thought I was crazy.

The Pad Thai was ugly and brown, with no color, veggies, or herbs and had salty flavor.  I had the stir fry with shrimp & veggies.  It was the better dish.  Spring rolls were so-so.

Not good, not bad. If I were to pick one restaurant that I've dined at over the past few months and give it an absolutely average rating, this would be it.

I was also mad that they didn't have cups of soup to go along with my meal. First Thai restaurant I've experienced like that.

Ordered chicken Pad kee mao. They used ground chicken, not sliced. Not a big fan either.

It was okay. I won't be going back because I hope to God I never have to stay overnight in Springfield ever again. If it was daytime and I wasn't driving around hungry, I probably wouldn't have stopped here.

I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of just 1 because the service was very good.  The food, however, was terrible.  I was in Springfield for work last week and couldn't have been more disappointed with this place.  The green curry was overly salty, I couldn't eat more than 10 bites.  My companion ordered the pad thai which had more onions in it than noodles.  It was disgusting.

I was really looking forward to having some excellent food here based on the reviews.  Next time I'm in Springfield, I'll have to try Little Saigon.

Hottest place in Springfield.  Try the red curry.  They have quite a selection of rice and noodle dishes with vegeterian options and chicken, beef, and seafood.

Wasn't impressed. Sara B and I went and it was just a-ok like she said. Then again, there is another Magic Kitchen, the original, I think, and it may be the top dog. We'll hit it up. Maybe tonight!!!

I cant lie, I debated between 3 and 4 stars. In reality its like a 3 1/2 stars.

I had heard a lot about Magic Kitchen, both from friends and online reviews. People raved and I had had quite a bit of mediocre Thai in Springfield so I was excited to try this out. We decided to go to the second location instead of the first due to proximity and not wanting to wait. Im wondering if there is a significant difference between the two?

First, the staff wasnt terribly pleasant. I mean, thats fine for me as long as they arent outright rude. Im there for the food, not necessarily to be entertained, but I can see how it would be off-putting to a lot of people. Second, the glass of wine I ordered was clearly past its prime and tasted like it had been watered down. That taught me a lesson in ordering wine at a dive Thai place. Also, Ive heard people say its cheap, but the things I ordered seemed pretty standard for Thai places at $7-9 per entree.

As for the food, it was just OK. Nothing blew me away. Some of it, like the Phad Kee Maow, was actually below par. The Basil dish was alright. As with a lot of 'just OK' Thai food, the level of flavor just wasnt there. I was looking for brighter flavors, more of a layered taste. Am I asking for too much?

Magic Kitchen will definitely satisfy a Thai craving, but its not at the top of the game.

So this place was highly recommended to us. We went and it was just that, A-ok.
The pad thai was  alittle on the plain side and the chicken panay was nothing special.
I think I will check out the other site and see if it is any better.
    Not the friendliest staff either.

Been a fan of magic kitchen since I was about 16. The N Peoria Rd one is the original, but once this location opened up I promise it's better. Both Magic Kitchen's are run by the same family, so the service, food and atmosphere is perfect at both.

This location has a liquor license, not BYOB.
