I had seen some decent reviews and they dropped a menu in my mailbox not too long ago so I have them a shot. I ordered a small pizza, wings, and a side dish to get a feel for the place. Let's start with the side: I ordered friend calamari, it was chewy and the red sauce that came with it was thin and "meh". Â Granted, this is a dish that is often screwed up- it was very middle of the road and not anything special.
The wings were another disappointment. Full disclosure: I am a bit of a chili head  but I saw a review that said they give "wings over springfield" a run for their money- so I was intrigued. Again, I'm a chili head, but the "hot" wasn't hot- not even close, even my non chili head brother said so. I'm sorry but this is a real peeve of mine when restaurants offer a "hot" that falls so flat- especially when they are compared to that other wings restaurant! Order wings yourself if you don't want to take my word for it- they fall flat.
The pizza was decent not spectacular but not bad. It was typical "Greek pizzeria" pizza ala "grapevine" in Longmeadow. Â It wasn't too greasy nor too dry. The crust was alright and the toppings were pretty good.
Overall, this restaurant is fairly new but they really need to make some changes if they want my business again. Â I would change your wings by making your "hot" actually hot and flavorful. Perhaps offer a mild, medium, and hot- the wings could also use more sauce as they were fairly dry. Your calamari could use some work: I like fried pepperoncinis and onions with my calamari. Such little additions really makes the flavor pop since calamari rings are rather bland on their own.
I will say that your delivery staff are swift and pleasant to deal with. If you made some small changes I'd be a regular.
I may be somewhat limited in this review but I went in and got the special $8 large cheese pizza and was satisfied with both the pizza and the service. The food was nothing special but as good as you would expect. The staff was very friendly and I felt like my business was appreciated which is always a good feeling. I am sure I will go back again in the future.
Review Source:Stay away from this place. We ordered a 8 inch sausage grinder with sauce and cheese and a small pepperoni pizza. The shaved sausage came on white toast with no sauce. Just like I ordered it right! The pizza was very greasy and the dough was not fresh. Forget this place go to Red Rose
Review Source:It seems that the location of 882 Sumner Avenue has not been kind to the previous eating establishments that have called this address home. New restaurants would open and close there often. But Magic Pizza will be there a long....long time. The owners converted the eatery into an eye pleasing place to sit and eat. The menu is outstanding. You can order pizza, wings, salads, Greek food, pasta dishes and dessert. The owners are friendly and the staff really outgoing. The food is made to order and very, very good. The pizza has thick crust and the toppings fresh. The grinders are awesome. The grape leaves? The best I ever had. The wings? Don't bother with "Wings Over Springfield's"...these are very well prepared and worth it.
This is my new spot for fast food.
Right next door is "Bueno Y Sano" .... So this makes this little plaza  one of the premier spots in Springfield to stop and dine. Way to go Bueno and Magic!!!
Apparently, a brand new restaurant--opened its doors back on August 11, 2011 (about a month ago) and so I was interested in trying them out for my first time. Â I've only tried two things from the menu so far, a hamburger grinder and a pizza. Â Next time, I intend to also try out one of their pasta dishes to see how they fare.
The hamburger grinder was top-notch, fresh meat and ingredients, not greasy at all and it wasn't too small nor particularly large but it was absolutely delicious. Â I have nothing bad to say except that it LOOKS smaller than comparable sandwiches from other restaurants because the bun is taller than longer--but please don't change that. Â It's excellent as-is.
The pizza we ordered was simply ordered with hamburger, pepperoni, onions and garlic. Â The pizza we ended up with had all the ingredients we ordered, came on a white-dough thin-crust pie and it was baked wonderfully and tasted excellent. Â There were two outstanding things I could relate about the pizza. Â One good.. and one bad:
The good: Â The pepperoni stands out! Â Whatever you're using--keep using it. Â It's JUST spicy enough to taste it! Â It's perfect! Â It's not so weak that you don't notice it--and not so strong that it overpowers every bite.
The bad: Greasy--very greasy. Â I suspect that most of that grease might be coming from the cheese--which might be a sign that the cheese isn't very good. Â I'm not a big fan of cheese to begin with, but even for me the taste of the cheese itself is very bland and my brother (who does like cheese) pointed it out. Â I sometimes order pizzas without cheese (as is my preference), so I'll try again sometime and see if there's a huge reduction in grease. Â That aside, the ingredients and the crust made up enough for it to make the overall pizza taste pretty good.
One last note: The restaurant, outside, doesn't appear very large, but it's incredibly spacious and large on the inside and it feels more like the kind of place you want to sit down and have a coffee in, rather than your typical eat-and-takeoff pizza-grinder experience. Â It's a very nice, relaxed and welcoming sort of California-esque atmosphere. Â Don't bother ordering ahead--buy a drink and sit down a while if you're waiting for your food to get cooked.
