My husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch since we were in the area. The atmosphere is non-descript and comparable to that of a fast food restaurant. Likewise, you order at the counter and they bring your order to your table.
The menu is posted on the wall above the counter; however, it lacks descriptions and pricing. They did have a more complete menu taped to the counter, but as a first time visitor, it would have been nice to have a hard copy of the menu to review prior to ordering.
We were in a hurry so I let my husband pick - he opted for the 8" Italian grinder, which we split. Drinks are self-serve with styrofoam cups and plastic lids. We seated ourselves at a booth to await our food. They had just opened for lunch, but the tables weren't very clean and our booth lacked a napkin dispenser so we swiped one from another table.
Our food arrived and they had split the sandwich in two separate baskets since we were sharing, which was nice. The sandwich included a standard bag of Lay's potato chips and a pickle spear. The sandwich was decent - standard Italian meats, cheese, lettuce, tomato and dressing that was run through an oven so it was a little melty and slightly warm. Our sandwich and two drinks was $12.
This was fine to grab a quick lunch, but we wouldn't go out of our way to stop back again.
The food here is very good. Â I really enjoy the grinder, pizza, and breadsticks. Â They are good for carry out. Â The last two times we ate in the restaurant, the place was just dirty. Â I took my son to the bathroom and nearly returned my grinder via vomit. Â I'm not a clean freak, as I have no problems eating off the roach coaches at construction sites or pooping in a porta-john with sharpie artwork about the guy "who was broken hearted". Â My son even commented on how nasty the bathroom is. Â He's been known to tongue kiss our dog and eat his own boogers. Â It really makes you wonder if the bathroom and dining area look like a Turkish prison taken over by poo-flinging apes, how sanitary is the kitchen and food? Â The PItt stop is a suitable name, but this place is a pit!
Review Source:The correct address for this Mancino's location is 13020 State Rd. 23
Granger, IN 46530 P: 574-243-9000. It's adjoined to its sister restaurant, The Pitt Stop Sports Bar and Grill (also in Yelp).
Great grinders, breadsticks, and pizza. You can also cross-order wings, burgers, and beer from the Pitt Stop menu.
Never a bad meal and always at a good value.
