BHG is a very solid Asian restaurant. Â Nice, atmosphere to enjoy some really good food. Â Both times we visited, it was a slow night and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. Â The portions are plenty and the food is enjoyable. Â This is one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. Â Looking forward to going back to try other items from the menu.
Review Source:Been there twice. Â Service OK both times. Â Food first time was very very tasty (almond chicken, mongolian beef, crab rangoon), although the beef was warm on the left side of the plate and cool on the right side. Â We went back a week later, but the food second time was bad (crispy duck, pepper steak) although appetizer (pot stickers) were OK. Â Problem second time with duck was very salty, cut strangely so there was very little meat, cold, and charge was $1 more than posted on the board out front. Â Problem second time with pepper steak was overuse of cornstarch and absolute lack of any flavor in the dish--mgr comped me when I showed her how it was cooked. Â Have held off going back again based on second visit. Â Crowds seem to be picking up, so watch future reviews by others, and me in a few weeks, to see if/how they are working through their "we're just starting out" normal start-up jitters. Â Driving by lately they seem to be doing more business. Â
Portions are large, except for the duck. Â
Be prepared to have the operation of their smoothie machine drown out your conversation whenever it runs. Â Should move it to a back room to improve the restaurant dining atmosphere.
I have no financial or other interest in this business.
Update--went there a third time. Â Food was good for both of us. Â Again, portions were large of both pork and fish, and egg roll appetizers were good too. Â Rest of this paragraph's comments are about the staff. Â This time the waitress was a little loopy--told us of how she liked two other competing restaurants. Â After she left our table I remarked to my companion that if the waitress had a sales orientation she could have added "but I like the food here too" or "but I like the food here better" after she told us about those other restaurants, but she didn't (and of course she could have kept quiet about the competion, which she didn't). Why doesn't she work at one of those places instead--the staff should be more supportive of where they work. Â Also, I suspect our entrees sat around a bit before coming out to us but have no way to prove this other than the temperature/texture seemed a bit off and we did have to wait a bit long, although the appetizers were very speedy. Â There were 18 diners for 2 servers when we were there, and we were the only ones in our half of the room when we were finishing in very early evening, and I did feel that cleaning of departed tables and vacuuming was just a bit more important than checking with us. Â
Will move up my rating based on food, although in last 4 days we've eaten out 3 times and food was better elsewhere at the other spots as well as the service. Â Come on, get your act together to have a better place to dine at!
