BHG is a very solid Asian restaurant. Â Nice, atmosphere to enjoy some really good food. Â Both times we visited, it was a slow night and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. Â The portions are plenty and the food is enjoyable. Â This is one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. Â Looking forward to going back to try other items from the menu.
Review Source:Been there twice. Â Service OK both times. Â Food first time was very very tasty (almond chicken, mongolian beef, crab rangoon), although the beef was warm on the left side of the plate and cool on the right side. Â We went back a week later, but the food second time was bad (crispy duck, pepper steak) although appetizer (pot stickers) were OK. Â Problem second time with duck was very salty, cut strangely so there was very little meat, cold, and charge was $1 more than posted on the board out front. Â Problem second time with pepper steak was overuse of cornstarch and absolute lack of any flavor in the dish--mgr comped me when I showed her how it was cooked. Â Have held off going back again based on second visit. Â Crowds seem to be picking up, so watch future reviews by others, and me in a few weeks, to see if/how they are working through their "we're just starting out" normal start-up jitters. Â Driving by lately they seem to be doing more business. Â
Portions are large, except for the duck. Â
Be prepared to have the operation of their smoothie machine drown out your conversation whenever it runs. Â Should move it to a back room to improve the restaurant dining atmosphere.
I have no financial or other interest in this business.
Update--went there a third time. Â Food was good for both of us. Â Again, portions were large of both pork and fish, and egg roll appetizers were good too. Â Rest of this paragraph's comments are about the staff. Â This time the waitress was a little loopy--told us of how she liked two other competing restaurants. Â After she left our table I remarked to my companion that if the waitress had a sales orientation she could have added "but I like the food here too" or "but I like the food here better" after she told us about those other restaurants, but she didn't (and of course she could have kept quiet about the competion, which she didn't). Why doesn't she work at one of those places instead--the staff should be more supportive of where they work. Â Also, I suspect our entrees sat around a bit before coming out to us but have no way to prove this other than the temperature/texture seemed a bit off and we did have to wait a bit long, although the appetizers were very speedy. Â There were 18 diners for 2 servers when we were there, and we were the only ones in our half of the room when we were finishing in very early evening, and I did feel that cleaning of departed tables and vacuuming was just a bit more important than checking with us. Â
Will move up my rating based on food, although in last 4 days we've eaten out 3 times and food was better elsewhere at the other spots as well as the service. Â Come on, get your act together to have a better place to dine at!
Horrid service felt sorry for our non Chinese speaking waitress trying to manhandle the kitchen staff who were all Chinese .  We ordered Peking duck 29.99 got a few chopped up duck legs and Mexican tortillas and a bowl of brown gravy.  The flavor of the cold duck was nice but it was not a Peking duck I've ever tasted ...slowwwwwwwwww service oh got our crab Rangoon with our meal.  Oops.  Shrimp was not fresh  in pad tai though the sauce was tasty ... Won't return ever ..
Review Source:Wow, simply amazing.
A couple of colleagues recommended this place, praising the food but warning that the service was slow. Â We came on a Saturday night. Â Hooooooooboy.
---Ambience - 5
Clean, extremely open. Â The restaurant is dominated by large tables for eating family-style with your party, with fewer tables for small parties. Â Considering the space, they could have fit some new tables. Â The decor is consistent with the bistro name, except for the aforementioned openness of the floor.
---Service - below -9000
Here it rapidly goes downhill. Â There appeared to be only two or three servers for the whole floor. Â A couple of experienced servers could have handled this restaurant. Â Experienced ours was not. Â He had to be reminded of requests for tableware, plates, water, tea refills, and rice at least twice. Â The table next to ours appears to have had an order forgotten. Â He brought out a pot of hot water to refresh the tea instead of taking the pot back into the kitchen. Â Food came out extremely late, quite a bit of it cold. Â To top it off, he accompanied his apologies with somewhat but not really subtle blame on other staff. Â Super unprofessional.
Aside from our one server, the other one seemed to be at least professional, but definitely not very experienced. Â Still way more competent then ours. Â When she had a lull in her tables, she came by to see if we needed anything.
They also were not able to serve orange/general tso's chicken. Â They were out of something. Â Not the chicken, as you will see later. Â How do you run out of the ingredients to bread/sauce chicken?
---Food - 2
It was hard to judge the cold food fairly, but I'll do it anyways. Â The fried wontons were meaty but bland. Â The tempura vegetables were overfried and somewhat heavy. Â The pork belly appetizer was REALLY ACTUALLY VERY GOOD, meltingly rich and breaded and fried, cut through with the pungent aroma of Chinese five-spice, and for some reason served on a bed of pretty decent watermelon.
The szechuan beef was decent, fairly spicy and well cooked. Â The cashew chicken was pretty decent, but the chicken was horribly overvelveted. Â For the hell of it, I tried to eat a piece my simply mashing my tongue against the roof of my mouth. Â It worked.
Hey, if you've got any old folks you want to take out to dinner, tell them they can gum a good piece of chicken here!
Garlic eggplant was actually quite good, vinegary and not overcooked, but disappointingly not-spicy. Â Ginger shrimp was likewise decent, nothing super special but nothing of note.
Aside from the coldness of the food and the chicken, I suspect most of the problems are a result of attempting to cater to an American population that wants watered down Chinese food. Â Fine. Â You can get a passing grade when you don't have problems that make American food taste bad, too.

Throughout the meal, I occasionally noticed a few staff members standing near the entrance to the kitchen and staring at our waiter as he did his business. Â I suspect these were either more experienced waitstaff, the owners, or the managers. Â For all of these cases, if was clear that our waiter was struggling - why the $#&% didn't you help out our waiter?! Â You could have checked by the table once in a while. Â You could have come to the table WITH the waiter and watched what he did so that you could give pointers. Â
I'm guessing you weren't giving him pointers in the back, since he came out with looking exhausted, like he was battling zombies or something. Â I suspect that you were yelling at him for his performance in the back, and I suspect that you would have a much better server if you helped him figure out the ropes.
This is conjecture, of course. Â I would love to have another yelper see what they think of this, because I'm sure as hell not planning on going back.
