The Market Bistro

We went here for breakfast last weekend and didn't have to wait at all. They have free parking and the food was plentiful, good and not expensive. Highly recommend.

I live in the New East Side, so Fox and Obel's Market Bistro is really close by. I've been several times, and food and service are hit-or-miss. On the plus side, the dishes that are good are REALLY good (filet mignon, risotto with scallops), and Oscar is an amazing server/manager. He recommended a great bottle of wine that we really enjoyed, and when my boyfriend's salmon dish warranted a disappointing review, Oscar offered to replace it with the crab cake. I give the Market Bistro an overall 4 star rating for the exceptionally reasonable prices, for the fact that they almost always having an available table, and for Oscar! I'd love to see Oscar push this restaurant to five stars.

Service ruined the evening. We were not greeted for over 5 minutes after being seated. The waiter did not ask if we would like to start with a drink but instead asked what we were having for dinner. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and hanger steak and New York steak for dinner. The dinner was served less than 5 minutes after the calamari was served. We were never shown the dessert tray. Although there was one large party of ten, the rest of the restaurant was not busy. Too bad the poor service tainted the delicious meal. Management take notice! You have a great menu but the poor service will lose repeat customers.
