Maxwell Street Depot, or "Depot," as most call it, Â is the Holy Grail of late night food for drunk college students/young, and often belligerent, adults . For just over 5 bucks, you can get two cheeseburgers, two fries, and a grape/orange "pop." Be sure to get everything on it. There are very little things on earth that match the satisfaction of sinking your teeth in a pork chop sandwich in the wee hours of the morning. It's fast and cheap. Calm down foodies, sometimes it's the little things in life (like depot food) that make it worth living.
Review Source:The bar flies travel the city to come here for street level grub.
Where the hell can you get OLD SCHOOL sandwich shop goodies 24 hours a day for pennies on the dollar? Even if you don't get down with the sausages, they cook up a very unique fish sandwich, which can be had with the usual tartar sauce and cheese, but with those uniquely flavored grilled onions. Â The whole thing with fries comes to $3.20, tax included.
3 stars: A-OK.
This place is cheaper than Express Grill/Jim's Original on Union.
The menu is a bit simpler, if you can imagine that.
They have a parking lot, which is kind of convenient.
It's not exactly dirt cheap anymore, but it's still approximately McDonald's money.
The pork chop here isn't exactly as good as the one at Jim's. If you eat them back to back, which I did, you will see that the onions are different and the sport peppers are kind of weak here.
Also, the fries are garbage. Generic & flavorless.
Not bad, but not my favorite.
