Mick Morgan's does a great job at capturing the quintessential Irish Bar atmosphere. The bar itself is even a beautiful piece of woodwork imported from an old pub in Ireland. Spacious, well-run, with a bar staffed with workers who speak with a brogue, the atmosphere is complete. The food isn't bad, some items are better than others - however Mick Morgan's does corned beef the way it should be. Large helpings, and delicious, try their corned beef sandwich and you won't be disappointed.

I have been to the Mick Morgan's in Newton, kept driving by this one on Rt. 1 so much that we just decided to stop here for dinner this past Saturday night.  It was pretty busy on the patio, the hostess asked if we prefer to sit inside or out, I said it didn't matter, whichever one that has less of a wait.  She suggested that sitting inside would be quicker, and she was right.  She made us wait 5 minutes, making sure that the table was set, before another girl lead us inside.

Upon seating at our booth, we noticed that the table was not cleaned up.  Someone had just taken dirty dishes away, there were still beer glasses on the table, and a big puddle of water on the side of the table.  No one came back to clean this up, so my husband had to use his napkin to wipe off all the water and other stuff that was on the table.  Gross.

The waitress was ok, not someone who impressed me, but she did her job.  We got an order of the whole-bellied clams for appetizer, it was probably the best thing we've had the entire meal.  Hubby ordered the shepard's pie and I got the sirloin dinner.  Hubby liked the shepard's pie, I took a bite but thought it was bland.  I was very disappointed with my meal - the sirloin steak was cooked to more medium than medium rare.... it came with tasteless mashed potatoes and a side of veggies that consisted of celery (yuck!), red bell peppers and squash.  Not a big fan of my meal, but I ate it anyway.  I don't think the waitress came back to check on our meals at all, until the end of our meal she came by to see if we wanted dessert or more beer.

Overall, I disliked my meal, but I really enjoyed their fried whole-bellied clams.  I will give this place another shot, probably getting a different entree next time.  However, it might take a few months, cuz I'm not in any hurry to come back anytime soon.

Great place to get a pint while hanging out with friends and listen to live music.  Please try the curry fries, they are friggin awesome and I am learning how to make the curry sauce at home because it is so good.

I enjoy going to mick Morgan's with the guys after work or the family.  Everyone is always nice.  Problem is when your one of the biggest irish establishments in the area you must have Irish music on st. Patrick's day!!!!   Spent a couple of disappointing hours there yesterday listening to a band covering Dave Mathews band songs.  Only bit Irish was one of the staff walking through the bar playing the bagpipe.  Also limited menue which I understand.  But prices 40% more than normal.   Won't be back next st Patrick's day.  Will find someplace with Irish music

Well..Have been here a half dozen times between with both the Family and the "Boys"
Really can't say I've had a bad experience. Food was always good...hot and timely...service was always with a smile and attentive but not overbearing. The only negative thing I can think of was it is a LOUD atmosphere when goin' out with the boys. Other than that...prices were high end..all in all have had good times there...at times it's better than Patriots Place .Always have left a 20% tip...Will probably go back when it's turn comes up in the rotation

Thought Mick Morgan's is a major upgrade over the previous restaurants that occupied this building. Building now has much more character. Food is average to slightly better than average. Seems a little pricey for just basic entrees and a few drinks, but doesn't matter because it has a great atmosphere and vibe for drinks. The outside bar area rocks.

$35 for lunch with two burgers and a Guinness. Our waitress was so nice and the food was delicious. The place was huge and empty on a Saturday afternoon but it was still nice.

Gonna have to slap 1 star on this joint for another Take-Out let down experience.
The part that bothers me is that i felt it in my gut that it was gonna be, but because I didnt feel like driving around at night in the rain and wanted to stay local, I figured I would risk it.
I asked the girls at the front what they would consider "the item" to get for take out - and they all gave me a blank look - That should have been my cue right there.
Browsing the menu I get to the steak tips. I asked the girl if they were good and if the portion was good and she said yes. Either she was just ignorant, or she doesnt know what a good portion is.
For $15.95, you think you might get a decent portion of tippies, but once again when I got home and opened up the bag, there in a round tin foil plate, 6 tips and about 100 french fries!! The veggies - cauliflower, broccoli and carrots were bland, dull and flavorless. The fries were unsalted and took up more than half the dish.
I mean, I know the Irish are all about the potatoe, but can you come into balance here?
The steak tips were overcooked for medium and lacked in flavor.
A skimpy portion. Hey Mick Morgan's, where's the beef?
The apple desert was sub-par and lacked in flavor also.
I was upset at myself more than this place, because I knew on the inside it wasnt gonna work. Not sure why the people flock in there, but I cant believe they go there for food quality.

Mick Morgan's first and last time for me, sorry - a big strike out on the take out scene.
Open up your coffers and throw in a few more tips, you charge more than enough!
I can go to Conrads in Norwood and get double the portion of steak, better in quality and 2 bucks cheaper.

If you are in the Walpole, Sharon, Foxboro area, I would think twice about getting take-out here.  Garr, me thinks not Mick Marrrrrgan's.

Went with my wife and 2 kids for my maiden run to Mick Morgans. Wasn't disappointed. Had a big cup of clam chowder that was delicious. Also had Shepards Pie which was super tasty.
Wife got chicken carbonara that was pesto based and was really great. Kids chicken fingers were excellent too.
Only knock is my server was super slow but giving benefit of the doubt here.
Will definitely be back. Definitely what the Sharon area needs as we are woefully short on good pubs and diners!

Had drinks on Saturday night, 8/4 with a group of friends and sat outside. Had a nice time. Waiter service was great, on time with drinks despite being swamped with all our orders. Mick Morgan, himself, came out to say hello.

    Overall: B

Although we've only checked in few times, we've eaten here many more times than our list shows. Over time, the food has turned from good to just OK. The place is not a chain, but it takes on that appearance and taste over time. The kids like the fish and chips and the salads are OK. No other menu item is worth calling out as memorable or repeatable. I think we're done here for a while.

My husband and I love Mick Morgan's !!  We will stop by and sit at the bar for lunch or dinner and we haven't been disappointed yet.  We love the outside bar in good weather. The staff there is great. Two of our favorite bartenders are Julie and Vicki. They are fast, efficient and a lot of fun.

We like this place so much we recently had our son's wedding rehearsal dinner for about 35 people on the outside patio, Damien handled all of the arrangements for us. He did a great job. They set up a buffet for us and all the food was really good. All of our guests were very happy with the food and the fun atmosphere.Everyone raved about the scallop and bacon appetizers.

Mick Morgan's is the place to go for lunch, dinner or just a few drinks to sit
and watch any of the sports on TV..

What a gem this place is.  The corned beef sandwich is fing awesome, no gristle at all, and even when I cook red at home it does not come out this good.  French toast hot delivered and tasty again.  Waitress Maria right on the ball again.  This is the best restaurant next to a motel EVER, where normally they figure they have you by the b***** and give you a good hosing.

Really good beer selection too....try the "Chicago Honkers", after the obligatory Guiness, or in my case, Smiticks.

I live about a half mile from Mick Morgans so I've been 4 times since they opened over a year ago. The place looks great. The outdoor area is great.  Service is good. Beer selection OK, they have expanded it a little. Now for the bad part .... I've been with my wife so we've had 8 different meals and a couple apps. We haven't had a good meal yet. You'll get better food at a 99 restaurant and pay $3-5 less per dish. I don't want to make it sound awful because I really want the place to stick around. With chain restaurants dominating RT 1, it's a welcome addition. it's a  big menu so maybe they need to slim it down and focus on fewer dishes. They are using very low quality foods. You would have to drink at least 4 pints to think this food is good!   Sorry ...  We'll still go for drinks, but not food

I was warned not to go here on a weekend because of the noise. We chose a Monday night. Not crowded, good service and the food was fine. The giant wooden bar is interesting, and I would not recognize the place from the old Bickford's setup. The bathrooms are in the same place.

Decorations are OK, but it is mostly a pub with some Irish food. They did not serve Irish bread which lost them a star. You get Irish bread in pubs in Ireland! The best Irish bread is still the Chieftain in Plainville. I don't even remember seeing it on the menu.

I had the bangers and mash, and it was very good. I shall return.

I really hate to let out this secret nugget.  Mick Morgans has a large variety of beers, and the corned beef sandwich is enough for 3 people to devour.  The hearty chicken soup is to die for.  The indoor atmosphere is quite attractive with a huge wooden bar, raised booths, and friendly waitstaff.  They also have outdoor covered seating for those wishing to enjoy the elements.  For the sports lovers, they have large flatscreen televisions across the top of the bar and around perimeter of dining area.

I've driven by this place a few times and decided to give it a try. There was a slight five minute wait on a Wednesday night, showing they aren't doing so bad. The lemontini I had was full of granulated sugar, sticky and looked like a mess by the time it go to the table. Eh I can get over that. The bread was cold and stale (once frozen i presume). The calamari had excellent breading, nice and crispy but was pretty flavorless . It was served with tartar sauce which is only a step above marinara but equally as boring. I had the meatloaf that came with veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was tasty but nothing that I couldn't make at home. The mashed seemed to be missing the garlic in them, eh maybe they got lost along the way. The person with me got the chicken curry. The waitress offered rice, fries or half and half which was nice. The chicken was sauteed in a great  sweet sauce that both the rice and fries sopped up. If I came back I'd defiantly get chicken curry.  The waitress was a nice as could be. I'd go back and try a few other dishes that caught my eye.

Great bar area, good beers on tap, plenty of TVs, live music, great outdoor section, what more could you need?  Oh right...food. That's why I gave this place 4 stars, but it's good enough pub food. The staff is great. We showed up to a packed house and were told it would be a 30 minute wait. About an hour later, the manager came over, apologized profusely and bought us a round of drinks. On a busy Saturday night, most restaurants would have said tough crap.

This place was fun! Live music, friendly servers and a menu with a wide selection of food. I came here with a group of 7 people and they sat us right away, even though the place was packed which was great because they don't take reservations or have call-ahead seating. Our server, Michelle, was a riot. She was very warm and also very knowledgeable of the menu and the beers. We had a few West-Coasters that aren't familiar with East-Coast beers. She did great comparisons.

Food was good too. French fries are thick and crispy. Shephards Pie will fill you up and will make you wanna curl up in your bed and go to sleep!

Definitely an array of people- babies, teens, grandma and grandpa, cougars and their young men all with live music playing outside!

Fun decor and lots of TV with sports! They also will flip to your requested game without hesitation.

An easy-going, reasonably priced joint that will leave you satisfied.

Gorgeous huge ancient carved wooden bar inside, transported overseas in sections.

Here is the only chicken wrap I love, with guacamole, chipotle mayo, and a little bacon. The veggie burger's pretty good too. The bar tenders over the 2011 winter were fantastic. The waitresses in the last couple of times I've been here, during the day, have been ok.

This place teeters between yet another huge corporate bar in the Walpole area and the hope for something better, and it's the Irish winter bartenders of the night who made all the difference, so yeah for those guys and gals.

Update: having been there a few times since, I see that it's really the old carved wooden bar and the Irish bartenders that I liked. That's it.  Glad that there is another outdoor patio in this area too.

I give this place four stars for: the huge outdoor patio and really cool outdoor bar, the nice decor, the cute Irish bartender, and pretty good drink selection! Why I don't give it a 5th star: it wasn't all that busy and still it felt like we weren't being paid attention to (then again, it is kind of a massive place) ...the nachos were kind of gross, with too much cheese and weak dipping sauces (don't get the guacamole, it's not guacamole. It's soupy green mush). But it's a good place to grab a drink and (probably) other apps than the nachos on a Thursday night. Maybe the Newton location is better...I'll have to try.

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it!
Exactly what we were looking for. This is a great summer place. We had dinner and drinks out on the patio.

I had Fish and Chips and my husband had Fried clams. Both were wonderful

    We will be back!

I've been here twice and had mediocre food both times.  I'll give them a pass on the first time, because I think it was the 1st or 2nd night it was open, but the second time wasn't much better.

The atmosphere and service gets 4 stars, the quality of the food and the bathroom situation gets 2 stars.

I've had appetizers here that were average, and a wrap that was a little above average.

Beers were good, and the atmosphere was decent as well.  I'll try this place again and hope the first two experiences were due to the place being new.

Last Saturday we went to Mick Morgan's for the first time.  I've passed by it many times but always thought it wasn't a place I'd ever visit.  However, every time I pass by there always seemed to be a lot of cars parked in the lot.  My husband and his friends and I were going to go Patriot's Place but there was a soccer game and I did not feel like waiting 2 hours for a table at Bar Louie's.  I checked Yelp and there were mixed reviews about Mick Morgan's but decided to give it a shot.

I am glad we went because it was pretty cool inside.  I like the layout of the restaurant and the décor is okay.  Just your normal pub style restaurant.  It was pretty packed on Saturday and we waited for about 20-25 minutes but we were able to get drinks at the bar.  The bartenders were attentive.  Our buzzer went off and we were happy to sit down and order some food.
Now here's where I have 2 different experiences - food and service.  I'll start off with the bad...

Service- Our waitress from the beginning was NOT happy at all.  Not sure why.  It was just the four of us, we were not drunk (I'm prego), and the minute she came to our table, she was not in a good mood.  You can just tell she was not happy. I am not saying you have to cheer and be super happy to every customer but don't also put us in a bad mood because you are not having a good night.  We did ask for separate checks but from the beginning (2 instead of 1).  I think that is much better than asking to split one bill with multiple credit cards.  That is the only thing we really asked.  Maybe that is why she got annoyed, not sure why that would be annoying.  Long story short, my husband who is MUCH more patient than I was getting really annoyed at how rude she was.  The minute one of our friend's finished their meal, she would come by and take the plate, fork and everything away.  Towards the end 2 more of our friends joined but where we were seated (right near the bar), they got drinks at the bar and just hung at our table on the bar side while we finished our meals.  Finally we were going to get more drinks at the table but she gave our checks and said good bye.  It was so rude so we got up and got drinks at the bar.

Okay, that was the bad and now for the good.  The food is pretty decent here.  My husband got the buffalo chicken wrap with fries, I got the steak tips with rice and veggie, and the 2 friends got like a chicken rice stir fry dish and a cheeseburger with a fried egg with fries.  We all really enjoyed our meals.  I really liked their fries.  My steak tips were cooked the way I wanted (medium).  It came with this gravy, au jus type of sauce in a little cup.  I wasn't really a fan of that.... But I ate the steak tips as is and it was flavorful enough.

Overall, we would go there again.  The hostess, bartenders, and servers were all nice and attentive.  If we get that waitress again I am going to ask for another waitress because I want to enjoy my overall experience and not be tainted because some waitress is annoyed at the world.

I enjoyed this place. The atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for. Irish native, friendly bar staff, good food and a great beer selection.
I started off with a Stella Artois then moved to a hot whiskey (or 4). The staff was very friendly and I wound up meeting the owners while I was seated at the bar. Fun bunch of folks.
My meal was great, I ordered the seafood broil something or other (scallops, shrimp, salmon, veggies, mashers)- it was delicious!
This place has a great vibe and good food (as far as I can tell). I wish it was closer to home because I think I would be there every night.
A must-visit when in Sharon, MA.

Went here for the Sunday breakfast brunch. Omelets were OK, but nothing special. The Western Omelet and Portuguese Omelet could have used some "spice". Service was efficient. Will go back to try real Irish food for lunch or dinner.

Okay, so it was my bad to order a salad at an Irish Pub, but the greek salad had 2 huge chunks of red onion core in it, and it did not contain a single black olive or pepperoncini, as advertised on the menu. I am not the type to send food back so maybe it was a rare oversight, but for $11.95 (including grilled chicken) it was a complete waste of money. Maybe their other entrees are better, but I wouldn't go back since it looks like they aren't true to their menu.

Need to get you Full Irish Breakfast on? Go here! We recently went down to the Tinker's Son in Norwell for Sunday Brunch which was fine for being a brunch but I like Morgan's approach to cooking breakfast individually a tad better, all the food here was hot and fresh.

We returned today and were seated in the exact same seats as before - so I guess we have our own table now. The fish n chips were very good (I'm putting them at #2 behind Frank's in Brockton) and went down VERY WELL with a few pints of Canton brewed Blue Hills draft (& because Frank's doesn't sell beer - overall Morgan's wins the F&C race).  My wife had the French Onion soup and quesadillas which she said were very good.

They are building an outside bar in addition to the outside dining area that is there now, it is due to be open by Memorial Day and I'll be back for some Magner's!
