Mike's consistently delivers a great experience. Everything on the menu that I've tried has been good; favorite dishes include the salmon filet, pork chops, Monterey salad, and Ozzie rolls. Service is excellent and a model that other restaurants should follow. I dine here every chance that I get.

I've been coming here for years and years. It never fails to deliver incredible food done fast and right.

It can be a little pricey, a salmon salad and Diet Coke with tip ran me $20. That's a little high, but everything was fresh and delicious.

My favorite thing is the little donut bread (just shaped like it, doesn't taste sweet) with sweet butter. Yummy.

I usually get the pasta with beef tips, but I am trying to stay away from meat at the moment. That dish is to DIE for. It's a nice size, almost too much, but I'm sure you'll be okay. If not, bag it up, I'll take it home for you.

The only complaint I really have about this restaurant is the waitstaff. We had a girl who waited on us who was just totally unprofessional. I asked her for an ahi tuna salad that I'd had when I'd been there a few years ago. She said 'oh, we've NEVER had that.' I informed her that I'd been coming to this restaurant for 10 years and she STILL argued with me. Even if I'm wrong, don't let me know I'm wrong, your tip depends on it. Seriously.

She was just really abrupt and rude. I wish I'd gotten her name because she totally needed to be put on blast. I would never allow her to wait on me again.

Other than that, Mike's is still good old Mike's. It has a great bar, lots on tap, festive atmosphere and the food is heavenly. You can't go wrong with anything at this bar (except some of the staff - and you know who you are!), I've loved it for years.

They have been serving it up here for over 20 years.
I remember when this place was built here in Springfield, seemed like they built it from the ground up in only a few weeks. It's pretty large with 2 levels.

I went back for the first time in over 10 years last week.
It's well kept, you would have no idea that it is as old as it is.
GAR really knows how to do service right.
The place was packed, but we had no problem getting our food quickly.
Another thing I like about this place is that it isn't overly noisy like Coastal Flats or Arties. Those 2 places are horrible if you want to be able to hear yourself think, just forget about it, they blast the music as loud as possible to make sure you won't think straight.

The menu of Mikes is pretty much the same as Sweet Water Tavern, standard American Fare.

This place is awesome.  Great date night place as well as for groups.  Staff is excellent and so is the food.  Pretty much anything you get here is great.  I enjoy going here.
I have never hung out at the bar but I can see people having fun down there.

Have been eating there for 12 years, and have never had a bad experience. Food's excellent. (Try the shrimp Alfredo w/ sirloin tips. Mein Gott!)

My first experience with this fantastic American style restaurant, and i was very pleased with the overall experience.  The drunken ribeye was extremely tasty as wekk as the Aussie rolls, and my server gave me my family free piece of cake since it was our first time there.  Everyone was very friendly, and the environment was quite comfortable as well.

Great service, great food, and an overall excellent experience! The atmosphere is very nice and even thought the place was packed, it wasn't loud. Definitely check this place out if you are in the DC area, you won't be disappointed.

The only thing I found strange was that they did not have any plastic take-out "silverware". I was visiting the DC area and had leftovers and would have loved it if I could have grabbed some eating utensils for back at the hotel. I had to go next door to the McDonald's (the last place i wanted to go after eating at this great restaurant) to grab a plastic fork to take back to my room. This certainly did not affect the rating that I gave but it really shouldn't be an issue to have some plastic forks laying around in case your customers request them.

This friendly, spacious spot is not only dedicated to the classic American cuisine, but I believe that it takes it to a whole another level.

If you really want to treat yourself to one of the best burgers in the DC area, you have to try this restaurant.  The steaks and other entres are also very fabulous.

They are a great service to the community, it's overly-comfortable, and the service really can't be beat- that is the truth!

Since i was considerably younger my family has gone to Mikes religiously a few times per year (birthdays and other occasions). I wouldn't be exaggerating if i was to say i loved going to Mikes. To my chagrin I can honestly say the last 3 times i've been  either me or someone in my group has been greatly dissatisfied.  At first i was distraught that i could feel anything but appreciation and admiration for the friendly staff and once outstanding food. Im prompted to write this review after the experience my fiancé and i had tonight. Her salmon tasted like the grill had been scraped and the residual ash had been used as a spice..... i was expecting Mikes to redeem itself tonight from the two less than exemplary experiences before but i was sorely disappointed. To make a long story short, after she sent her salmon back twice (despite being inedible it was grossly over cooked both times!) a manager was sent to our table. The manager recommended she try a steak instead as obviously the fish was not up to par. Now my fiance is waiting on her third plate, my food long gone by now, and the once friendly server begins to avoid our table like a plague. Finally to add insult to injury when the check finally comes (after a fun night out has turned dreary) we have been charged for the 29$ steak instead of the 17$ fish they could not get right twice... I am not one to expect anything for free coming from a family of restaurant owners but truly for the money spent tonight i would have rather gone to the McDonalds next door ... Sadly i  feel that to spend this amount of money on mediocre food and pretentious staff is an utter waste. Please, please to the staff at mikes; straighten up. I miss the fine quality food and excellent service you once had in abundance!

OMGOSH!  First time there and the food and the server blew we away. I went there 2/19/2013 for a business lunch (appreciation lunch) for me. I got there it was so relaxing and I felt happy. Before I sat the server took me to my table with a profession manner. He sat me down and took care of me right away. I ordered Tex rolls and 7 ounce steak medium and with mashed potato  with Warm Flourless Chocolate Waffle. All I got to say AMAZING, AWESOME AMAZING. Loved each bite and the server was amazing and who ever made my food was amazing LOVED IT!!! This was first time there definitely  coming back and recommend to others!

Weve been here numerous times. Great place for atmospere and always outstanding service. The food is good quality for the price but dont expect the complex plates of a 5 star restaruants. Bar is also great place to hang out with friends or watch a game.

I've been to Mike's American Grill dozens of times over the years. It's a great restaurant, the food is very good, the service is great, and the interior of the restaurant itself looks really cool. Servers are always very attentive and want you to have a good experience. I usually get the filet mignon, which always tastes great. I especially LOVE the lobster bisque, it's this creamy soup filled with little bits of lobster--so good. There's also this tortilla soup that is pretty good, but nothing beats that lobster bisque. My family members usually get seafood dishes and are always happy with their meals. This is a great restaurant, and the price for eating there is worth it.

This place is beyond amazing. I have tried other things besides their steak (which is great) and I have never been disappointed. I've recommended this place to friends and have never gotten a single complaint. I recommend this place to everyone!

Oh just a side note, parking can be a bit crazy so I suggest leaving a few minutes early just in case their parking lot is full and you need to park in the overflow parking.

This is definitely the best restaurant in the Springfield area!  It would probably rate five stars, but the wait is usually a bit long and there's just something about having to park across the street and hiking in, yes I'm a spoiled suburb rat, that turns me off.  If i'm in the suburbs i want a parking lot and to get in quickly.  Was here this week and had the mahi mahi special.  Was out of this world.  Fish done just right on a tortilla with beans.  Very nice combination.  Mike's has a great beer selection and the bread basket contains a very tasty selection of bread and rolls.  I'd eat here more often when in the neighborhood if there was better parking.  Yeh, I know I'm lazy.  Just how it is. When I'm hungry i want to park, get seated right away and get served.  Making me walk and then wait is just a little much for me. Sorry about the rant, just be prepared if you want to eat here.

I can't express enough how much I really love this place! I had the top-of-the-line steak, salad, and potatoes. I have to say that it was cooked perfectly and served hot too. The desert waffle was the most incredible and I know for a fact that I could eat it ever day. I will definitely go there again and again. I promise to any reader that you will love the food and service!  This place is top-notch!

This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat. The fact that it's near my home is an added bonus for me. Let me start by saying the ozzie rolls are a nice way to kick off your meal. If you're thinking about an appetizer, the calamari is wonderful and perfect for sharing. For the main course, I like seafood and steak. Therefore, i usually get the crab cakes and filet mignon combo. Sometimes i get the craving for pasta...thats where the sauteed filet tips with penne pasta tossed in a tequila cream sauce comes in. Both entrées are delicious! Not to mention, their daily fish specials are always on point...especially the hickory grilled mahi-mahi.  Last but not least, I wouldnt blame you if you decide to get either a pumpkin cheesecake(when they actually have it) or a flourless chocolate waffle for dessert.  The staff is very hospitable and attentive as well.  I always bring my dates here because i know that the experience will always be a positive one.

I love this restaurant. It's amazing. Not only is their food the absolute bomb, but the service is rockin'. You will not meet one unfriendly/inattentive worker in this restaurant.  The food is expensive yes, but definitely worth it. Mike's is a great place for special occasions or just a night out every once in a while. We usually come here for lunch and it doesn't seem to be that busy at all as compared to the complaints by other people claiming that the place is busy at any time of day. Luckily, tonight we called ahead to make a reservation for three people which saved a lot of time. I saw a lot of people waiting to be seated while we were able to pretty much just get seated right away.

    Food items I suggest:
    -Crispy Fried Calamari (appetizer)
    -Prime Rib (entree)
    -Creme Brulee (dessert)

Mike's is my favorite restaurant out of all the Great American Restaurant chain. I don't think I ever been here when it wasn't busy, but restaurant is huge and they move patrons through relatively quickly.

Food and service is always exceptional. If you're in the area, you gotta try this place. They have a pretty wide range menu. You can spend as little as $15pp or more depending on what you order.

Tip: The parking situation isn't great, but they have an overflow parking in the shopping center across Backlick Rd. Also, if you're like me, you'll love the Ozzie rolls. They taste like freshly baked doughnut holes! You can ask for more. ;-)

Always a solid meal and the best "bar scene" in Springfield.  We've eaten here several times and wehave always had a good experience.  The last time we ate here, my husband didn't like the crab cake.  When the manager came by doing her usual rounds, she asked all of us about our meals.  My husband mentioned that he normally doesn't order crab cakes outside of MD, but nothing overly critical (and he had already finished it so it clearly wasn't terrible).  Even still, the manager went out of her way to comp some of our bill.  Totally unexpected and represents their genuine treatment towards their customers.  The place is always packed... for a reason.

The catch with mike's is that it's almost always very busy which is a good sign however sometimes even on a Tuesday night and a party of 3 you can wait close to 2 hours which is honestly unacceptable especially when they give you a 40 minute estimate. I've been here enough to say it simply is not worth the wait. Yes the food is great but there are many other places serving food just as good with less of a wait if any at all.Sometimes the service is slow and the waiters/waitresses forget things but no one is perfect.

The bartenders at the bar though are really nice and there is usually room there to hang out so overall this place is good but I'm not a fan of the waiting. I've NEVER been here no matter what time of day and what day (weekend or weekday) where there wasn't a long wait.

This is my "GO TO" spot!  I have not had one bad dish at this place.  My first visit dates back to early 2001.  My FAV item has to be the Drunken Ribeye.  The flavor is extraordinary due the Great American Pale Ale marinade.  The Ozzie rolls (hot bread) are addictive and taste like a hot doughnut.  Another FAV on the lighter side would be the Chop House salad and add Salmon!

Service is great and the quality of the food is on point. I come here at least twice a month, and traditionally I have the steaks. Very well prepared and the portion is just right.

Recently I wanted to give a little twist, and I ordered the filet mignon lime and cilantro penne pasta...wow, what a plate, I must say!!! DE-LI-CiOUS!!!

My favorite steaks are: Druken Rib Eye, Rib Eye and Filet Mignon. I had the Prime rib once and I was just OK...however the others mentioned are Great!

For appetizer you can't miss out on the firecracker shrimp, even when the portion is small, the taste is awesome. If you eat at dinner time you can also get either a salad or soup with your meal. So just be careful because with the bread, the appetizer, soup or salad, by the time you get to your meal, you will be very Full!!!

A place you must go to!....and also make sure that your $$$ pocket is up for the visit!

I've eaten in Mike's many times, & the food has always left me smiling.  The food is EXCELLENT.  I'm a big fan of the salmon.  The service is outstanding.  On the negative side, it is louder than I like.  Always packed, I suggest you call ahead.  Whenever I'm in the area I make it a point to eat there; I wish it was a few hundred miles closer to my home.  I strongly suggest that you dine here!

Pretty crowded both inside and outside. Parking is always full so have to park off the property and walk. Inside it's pretty much the same. A lot of diners. Service however is excellent even though the house is full, glasses were refilled and orders arrived in a timely manner.
    Food tastes great!!

Mike's is always a fave as well as the rest of the restaurant group...they're all awesome food with awesome service. Tex Mex Egg Rolls! The salmon! Soooo yummy! The only reason I downed it one star is that if you don't call ahead, you're screwed...its always busy!

Three stars for the food.  An extra half star for the great service.   Service here is usually on-point.  I mean I wasn't even done with my raspberry ice tea and there was another on the table for me. The server was nice and we felt taken cared of the whole entire night.  I should have remembered his name but I'm terrible with names....Anyhoo!

Food was okay.  Used to love this place but I think I've really broaden my tastes and with that I've also raised my standards.  In high school, I considered this restaurant upscale but I would say this place is about $20-40 and about average priced.

I ate the Flat Iron Steak Salad which included  blue cheese, sun dried cranberries, dates, potatoes, onions, pine nuts, and greens"  It wasn't bad but it wasn't good.
The steak was not warm enough, the meat tasted like it just cut and then cooked.  It would have made for a better salad had the meat been marinated or at least had some pepper and salt on it!

The most expensive item on the menu was the Drunken Ribeye steak.  This steak is on the more flavorful side and sweetly burnt on the outside with what I assume to be bourbon but really it was their beer.  It just really dry for a medium cooked steak.  You would think an American restaurant would get steak right but I guess to get steak right, you gotta go to a real steak house.  I wouldn't really even suggest this for anyone to try but if you got 26 bucks to spend then you can judge for yourself!

On several occasions, I've tried the jambalaya pasta, hickory smoked ribs (typical bbq, nothing special), Salmon salad and was never highly impressed.  I was disappointed in my sour tasting Grilled Portabello & Warm Goat Cheese over angel hair dish last time I was here.

Please try to ozzie rolls if you have never been to any of the Great American chain restaurants.  They are the absolute BEST rolls ever! The sweet butter melts on top after you spread it on and it's like heaven in your mouth!

The best dessert to try is the Warm White Choc O Late Bread Pudding
With vanilla ice cream & caramel"  This is an amazing bread pudding that just makes you want to fight others and eat your own.

Another joint in the Great American Restaurants chain, Mike's is basically a repeat of Sweetwater with a different wrapper and some minor, subtle menu changes. Nothing will disappoint. It's as simple as that! Service, food, atmosphere - all awesome!

Ok, to start, this place is huge.  They radio you up to the upstairs section with a little receipt thing so they know where to sit  you.  It's all very organized.  While a bit loud, the food is standard, and the service is pretty good.  I wouldn't say they differentiate themselves outside of the fact that they're efficient and don't have bad food.

OMG! Simply good food always, I had the Ribs no sauce finger licking good, my son always eats the Cheeseburgers with bacon & my daughter the Roast Chicken this time. Dam good food, we drive 27 miles for the food at Mike's American Grill.

The restaurant itself is the standard fine-dining american fare. Green walls over here, some white table cloths over here, some hardwood floors and wa la! presto! American steakhouse :)

Mike's is a baby of the wonderful Great American Steak Restaurant Chain so you can expect what you would at all their establishments: good food & excellent service.

The service is always attentive and knowledgeable, and the OZZIE ROLLS ARE SO DELICIOUS. I usually order steak or cheeseburgers, and am never disappointed.

The worst part about Mike's is definitely their parking, I hate that I have to cross the street just to eat at their restaurant much of the time but the experience itself is usually above average so it makes it somewhat acceptable.

As one of Springfield's ONLY "fine dining" establishments, I'm glad that Mike's can keep their good thing going for years and years on end (otherwise, where else would us Springfieldians eat? MALEK'S??)

Gotta love Great American Restaurants =)

After reading through some reviews for suggestions as what to eat, I decided to allow myself to splurge on the drunken ribeye. I can say that I was not disappointed. You can tell they've got a winning formula with the quality of their beef cut, their medicament, and their cooking technique.

It comes with a subtle delicious flavor that is savory and well worth the price tag. Its served with a mashed potato , and I opted for the squash rather than the salad. Would recommend.

Mikes - one of the original Great American Restaurant co. establishments, like most GAR family restaurants service and food quality are above par.
Was just in there for a business lunch - firecracker shrimp and tex-mex egg rolls apps and prime rib for entree.
Recommend the prime rib blackened, medium was nearly fork tender.
GAR team service approach works well and so that there is always someone checking on you, sometimes too ready to remove that unused utensil or service plate.

3.75 stars.  Mike's is part of the Great American Restaurant Group, which includes Carlyle and Sweet Water Tavern.  If you've been to the others, you'll know what the menu and ambience is like here.  It's a well-oiled machine.  Mike's is a large restaurant with two floors of seating.  Parking can be a hassle.  They have an additional parking lot, but it's across the street from the restaurant.  Mike's is a good place for small groups and celebrations.

The service is always quick and efficient.  A little too efficient.  They are always quick to take away dishes and hand you your bill, so you don't feel comfortable with lingering.  Although you have one waiter, there are many others that assist with bringing out your food, refilling your drinks, and taking away your plate.

The bread here (and at the other Great American Restaurants) is great with the sweet butter spread.  I often get the pulled pork sandwich at lunch.  It's delicious and decently priced at around $10.  Many of the entrees are overpriced in my opinion, but the sandwiches are a good value.

I've lived in Springfield for about 20 years now and this place never fails to impress. The service is great, the food delicious, and the drinks plentiful. They always go out of their way to give you the best time possible. The Ozzie Rolls are the best. I could make an entire meal out of them. I don't know why they even serve you any other bread. The best part is they are happy to keep them coming! My favorite entree here is the Roast Chicken with the brown butter sauce. It's to-die-for and if you haven't tried it, do so immediately. The ambiance is great - the  restaurant is housed in a large brick factory building which really stands out among the rest of downtown Springfield.

The biggest con is how busy this place can get. The best tip I can give is that you call-ahead and put your name on the wait-list so you're not standing around (often, it's so crowded there's no place to sit) while you wait for an hour or two. I would like to see them get some sort of reservation system such as OpenTable. This would make the restaurant perfect.

Oh, and never try to park in their tiny parking lot. Just go across the street and park in the shopping center. It's a very short walk (look both ways before you cross!) and will actually save you time since you won't be stuck behind a line of cars waiting for the next available spot.

I used to eat here a lot in the early 2000 before I moved up to NYC.  Recently ate here with a friend from out of town.  It seems like they did some remodeling at this place since last time.  We didn't have to wait long for a table.  I always order a mojito to see how it is at different restaurant.  Not bad but the best is till at Coastal Flats.

We ordered the calamari for appertizer.  For dinner, I ordered the Angus Prime Rib and my friend ordered the Grilled fresh fish.  The prime rib is cooked to order and very flavorful.  The fish is also great.  Overall, two good choices by us.  Our waitress is very proficient.

Overall, this place doesn't disappoint me at all.  Good food, value, and service.

    Mike's was just all-around....... "eh."

They have a total of 16 different beers... all of which are standard... and most of which are fizzy yellow garbage.  Their wine and liquor list is similarly plain, boring, unimaginative... you pick the adjective...

I hardly saw ANY food that was home made.  It all appears to be the same mass food supplier type stuff that places like Chili's, Apllebee's, Outback, etc... buy from...... and tasted about as unique.  Not bad food... but nothing special by any stretch.

I got friendly service and the tab wasn't out of control, too...... just nothing worth coming back for and I'm honestly a little shocked at all the Yelp love this run-of-the-mill fairly mediocre establishment seems to enjoy...

Went here for a business lunch and got more than I expected.

Firstly, the service was impeccable. This is the best service i've gotten in long time and it usually one of my biggest pet peeves at businesses. But this establishment, it's like they got a team of eyes on our table at all times. Drink was refilled before i was even done. Very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. And since it was a business lunch, after we finished out meal and paid the bill, we were still sitting and talking. They never once tried to rush us out.

The food itself is omg, drooling on my desk thinking about it fantastic! There was quite a bit of dishes so it made choosing something very hard. But I decided on the pork chops and it was prepared/served/grilled to perfection, exactly how i wanted it. The dishes can range from $10-$30, but that's an indication of the quality and service of the establishment.

Atmosphere is kind of like the show Cheers, with old fashioned glossed wood.

Only downside to this establishment is the parking. It's very limited, and we had to park across the street at the shopping center.

Will definitely plan another visit and bring the fam.

Anyone looking for a great place to eat, you must visit Mike's American Grill. Cheers!
