Overall a very nice club, like the park...good crowd and vibe (depending on the days you go) but bouncers are assholes!!! making a big deal about jeans being baggy or having lil wrinkles on the bottom of the jeans for the guys, just like the park! Motherfuckers act like these are some Vegas clubs and shit.

They have a great Happy Hour menu. Especially on Taco Tuesday's...their tacos are delicious and have a very generous portion of chicken for $2! Get there early because once they run out of chicken...no mas :) Great ambiance and pleasant staff.

MIX is a really nice place- classy. Inside seating consisted of sofas, while the patio had fire pits. I came here for happy hour (All small plates  1/2 off Tuesday-Friday 4p-7p.). I had the ahi tuna poke (spicy soy dressing, taro chips). I enjoyed every bite of it! On Fridays, they also have pitchers for $19. Unfortunately, we missed the cutoff time when we wanted to place an order.

I'm not sure of the club scene, but I heard there are a lot of cougars. Maybe when I get to that age, I'll update my review.

Last Wednesday (July 3rd) was my first and LAST time I will ever go to MIX.

We have a couple of friends that live in Sacramento and we figured since some of us do not work the following day, we should go out. Out of a group of 10, half of us came from The Bay Area (even as far out as San Jose). We got there "early" (9:30ish) because we figured there was going to be a line. Since we've heard that they're strict on dress-code, we made sure the guys were dressed in dress shirts, fitted pants, and dress shoes. After standing in line for 20 minutes, a bouncer approached us and told my BF that he couldn't go in because his pants we're "too baggy"... The same pants he has never had an issue with getting into SF or Las Vegas club... Told us that we need to leave and that The Park (which was a block over) was open. My BF pulled his pants up and folded his pants inward, and the bouncer ended up going up to EVERY single bouncer working outside to let them know that he just folded his pants up and still could not be allowed in. Looking around I saw guys in the bottle service line with baggie pants and guys in SHORTS in the regular line and none were told to leave. Once we got to the front the bouncer, without even looking at my BF's pants told him he had to leave. We even told them that some of us drove 2+ hours to come here and they're going to turn down 10 people who are going to pay for the cover fee AND a minimum of 3 drinks each because of ONE person's pants !? We even offered to buy bottle service and they still said no. So we left the line, and eventually one of my friends spoke to a different bouncer and the he said "I will let you guys in if you give me $100.00." Seriously? Abuse of power. By then I was already pissed off and did not want to give any of my money to this establishment, but we ended up going.

The DJ that night was pretty good. Drinks are a bit over priced. Atmosphere was nice. Interior set up and decorated/styled pretty nice...

But because of how the front staff treat the people trying to get into the club is ridiculous.

How are they to say a guy in a tank top, board shorts, and white Etnies skater shoes is in appropriate dress code; while a guy in dress pants, a button-up dress shirt, and polished dress shoes cannot come in?

As far as clubs go, this is probably one of my favorites.  There are places to sit (even without bottle service).  The music is good, but the dance floor small enough to keep the rowdiness down.  It is a mature crowd, which I appreciate since I'm kind of over drunk girls crying and puking in the bathroom.  The 2 bars are well staffed so wait times (even on a Friday night) are kept to a minimum.  The drinks themselves are pretty reasonable for a club, ranging from around $6-$10 on average.  This is impressive when you are used to $15 drinks at some clubs in San Francisco.  All of this in a modern and luxurious feeling atmosphere with an indoor area and an outdoor section to take advantage of the warm nights.  Even the bathroom is kept up, which is always extra brownie points at a place with lots of alcohol.

The crowd is pretty diverse, the music is top 40,  the people are dressed well...for Sacramento.  It's a bit refreshing to be at a club where it's not as overtly a fashion show (though sky high heels and little dresses are totally appropriate), and more about dancing, drinking, and having fun.  That being said, there is a dress code.  Dress to impress people, it's what keeps this place nice.  I read one review that eludes to racism for not letting a large group of black and hispanic men in (as well as a few other claims of racism as the reason they were denied entry).  I thought it was common knowledge that huge groups of men don't get into clubs as easily as mixed gender or huge groups of women.  Call it sexist, but no club wants to be known as a sausage fest, it would kill their business.  As to other people getting in easily-- There is also a guest list.  I think it is common knowledge that if you are "in the know" you get into clubs easier, even if you are not perfectly dressed...  Also, the more you harass, annoy, or act entitled around bouncers, the less likely you are to get into a club.  Why?  Because they figure you'll just be even more annoying drunk, to them and other patrons--thus, not worth letting in (hint: dress code is a good way to make you leave and not say "because you are a dick").  Lastly, if you are a huge group of barbie dolls?  You probably will be let in really quickly, because lots of men will buy Barbies drinks, the club looks good, and thus makes more money.  Call it shallow, because it is what it is.  All of this is basic club etiquette and doesn't surprise me at all...blast it as racism on yelp all you want, the above reasons for denial are industry standard.  So before you cry "racist", make sure you are not having issues with one of the normal scenarios for denial that I just mentioned.  Also, considering the diversity I saw, having actually made it into the establishment (as well as the fact I came as an asian and black mixed couple) I really don't think "racism" is the issue here.

Perhaps due to good screening, I didn't get any hater vibes (from men or women) which is really nice, pretty rare in fact. I also appreciated that there really weren't any creepers--also probably due to not letting in people who initially piss off bouncers...

My main complaint is that the out door area is pretty much ruined whenever anyone lights up a cigarette =(  The inclosed walls of the outdoor lounge trap the smoke and make me feel like cancer.  I wish there would be a no-smoking policy.

So overall, just know that this is a true upscale club business model, so if you are ok with all the associated elements, I say party like a rock.  Party like a rock star.  Party like a rock......I think I just dated myself a bit.

This review is on their happy hours service and menu.

I've been here on several occassions for their Happy hour special. The portion of their small plates are great for half off. So far, I've liked most of everything on their menu. I usually don't order drinks since I have to drive myself home. However, they have a decent $5 special on wells and wine.

    Great place for groups.

Hey girl. Hope u had fun being able to come out and All. Well let me tell u about this. ** at the Mix

So I'ma share this BC something today made me think. I didn't like this service at happy hour. * I know ppl :-)  would go to restaurants finish their plate n be like we don't like. ** I know places if the food is bad they offer something. -* anywyas this is just a mix cocktail. And u can only imagine how much money they could lose right??? Happy hour N I ask the girl for Reccomendarion n her recommendartion sucked balls. I couldn't even stand it. I don't wanna waste 7 bucks still happy hour price for that shit. So I asked nicely for them to change or fix that drink. Which they did n I expect. --- and then my friend who didn't like hers just kept hers. But then when she asked another waiter for recommendAtion she was snobby n was like** I don't wanna say bc u might use it against me to take it back. How fuckinf rude. N my shit so nasty I couldn't even down it. ** yup. N that's how I don't wanna come back:-)
It is nice ambiance and I do enjoy the patio but the workers there can and will act snobby. Excuse the typo since I am writing on my phone text.

I love this place! Excellent food at awesome prices during happy hour! The ahi is amazing and the sweet potato fries are the best I've ever had! The dipping sauce they make for them is the bomb!

There's usually an older crowd that is often dressed up and after work professionals.

    Highly recommended!

As far as clubs go in the Sacramento area this one is pretty decent.  Hit or miss on the vibes for the evening, but if you roll with a decent group you should have a great time regardless.  Tons of decent eateries in walking distance although they have a menu of their own.  I've never been wow'd by their food or drinks but I love the layout of the club and it's the only one like it in Sacramento.

Should definitely arrive early for discount and just chill out before it gets soooo loud you cannot hear or see much.  Staffs a bit pushy as far as seating since most of it is VIP but when the party doesn't arrive for 3.5 hours let a patron sit the hell down for a few minutes without hassle.

I'll probably go back but only because it's the only type of its sort, not because I genuinely am interested in returning.

My friends, the $3 drink specials and the feel of the club make it a great spot. Unfortunately what is unacceptable is their poor customer service and rude individuals working at the door.

The music was great for the most part, but could have done without some of that fist-pumping junk. The outdoor was nice and comfy end enjoyable as long as you don't mind the cigar/cigarette smoke all in your face.

I would probably go back and not expect any changes in the negatives.

I have 2 favorite clubs in Sacramento, and this is the second (I think the other is owned by the same gentleman)

It is a bit of a stretch to call Mix a "rooftop" lounge (technically true, but c'mon it's a 2 story building), but it's good. The outdoor area is great and if you prefer a more mature crowd, you should be here on a Saturday night.

All in all, a good place to kill some time every once in a while.

I have come to here several times in the last few years. Super fun, clean place. Staff is always nice. My only complaint is that is takes way to long to get in if you come after 9:30. Wish they had a better system for that. But fun place to dance & have a good time with your friends.

Three stars because I am genuinely confused by this place.

Not negative. Not positive. Just confused.

The space is beautiful with great use of indoor meets outdoor space. Drinks are consistently weak and uninspired and the crowd seems to be a mix (true to its name) of older or the few scrappy ghetto stragglers. Nothing in between. I'm going to give it another try. Not ready to write this one off yet.

Where do I start? I went here for a birthday celebration with a few friends. We were quoted a total price for a VIP booth with 2 bottles plus gratuity and put down a deposit... Sounded great! This was a few weeks before the event. The day after the event..... We were charged WAY more and not told about it. The coordinator we booked this event with failed to mention several things and misinformed us. To make matters worse, they take NO RESPONSIBILITY! The staff here is stuffy and this place is way overpriced!! Drinks are weak and food was not very good. I think the owners of this place think they are in Vegas. Anyone could get more for less in Vegas.
Oh and bouncers are ridiculous.... Clearly racist as many other reviews say. YOU'RE A CLUB BOUNCER, not God!
We won't be coming here ever again. Save your time and money.

For St. Patrick's Day, I wanted to avoid the crowds, relax, and eat some good food. Thus, I came really early to avoid the crowds. I've also been to the MIX Downtown for happy hour, and thoroughly enjoyed the food, so I decided to visit and check out their special menu for St Patrick's Day.

    Food:
I ordered the corned beef with cabbage, potatoes, and parsley cream sauce. It was really tasty! For St. Patrick's Day, I would come here again to eat.

For happy hour, I've had their Mac N' Cheese, Ahi Tuna "Poke," Korean Beef Skewers, and Kobe Sliders.

All of their happy hour food is delicious. My favorite dishes were the Mac N' Cheese and Korean Beef Skewers.

    Sides Notes

    Ambiance:
The place has lounge chairs and couches all over, which provides a super relaxed environment, and they have an outdoor patio, which is perfect for good weather.

    Service:
For the most part, staff here is pretty nice and attentive.

    Overall:
The MIX Downtown offers one of the best happy hours in terms of food, and I would recommend checking out the place for their corned beef plate next St Patrick's Day.

Went to the MIX for St. Pattys Day, and it was packed! Obviously for a night club/bar you can expect a ton of people and what not. The bartender was really friendly and so was the super cute elevator guy!

The bathroom is a little tricky when you have had a few drinks since its mirrored on all the walls...which is good so you don't really have to fight over mirror space, the women's restroom is also super clean ladies! And we all know how important that is!

I have been there only once on a Friday night. Despite of that pricy 15 $ entrance fee, I fell in love with this place.
Classic and trendy decorated. Cosmopolitan style! The half terrace makes the whole place more fresh and enjoyable. You have bar area, dancing area and also terrace which compares to a garden of a house.
The music is absolute my thing. Many 90s songs which haven't been played for a long time anywhere else appear again. Sound effect is just right to get yourself involved in darker dancing crowd while being able to talk to your friend too.
The people here are really mixed types. Dressy, formal and casual of various ages.   That makes the pricy place suddenly simpatico.
One thing to be improved is that when I asked for cocktail list, they didn't offer any list but only asked me what I want to drink, as if I should have recited all cocktail names in mind... :((
I am not sure how I can get on guest list and enter there for free. But the various happy hours offers will surely lead me to that great place again!:))

Where do I start with Mix! This used to be the spot to hit up Wed's and Sun nights as the music is more current.  However, lately Mix door staff has made it a point to make particular club goers uncomfortable by telling you every excuse in the book why you can't get in...

    Few scenarios I recall

-showed up on Sunday on "industry" night and was asked by security for a pay stub proving I worked in the "industry"!? Like I carry a damn pay stub when I'm headed to the club?

-My birthday night some friends came up from the Bay area, I ordered bottle service and all the shit, however, they hassaled my two friends because their shoes weren't appropriate "Chucks"...smh...then let a guy in with flip flops on right in front of us. Disrespectful!!

    - Final straw, my boy has one of their bullshit Platinum cards which allows you to walk in free of charge with no line.  However, Captain $10.00 an hour bouncer needed to actually call his boss to see if it was ok to use the card tonight...

There are a couple cool staff persons and bartenders here but the place has taken a turn for the worst...door staff behavior is ridiculous and inappropriate for a small ass town like Sac.

If you've partied in SF, Vegas or Miami then you will get my point, if not, I'd imagine Mix is great to you...

God this place needs to GO.  My boyfriend and I were waiting in line for quite a while on Sunday night in the cold in a line that was hardly moving.  We understood it was busy and were happy to wait our turn like everyone else.

Oh but that is NOT the way it works at the mix.  There were 4 bimbos in front of us who were approached by men who worked there, ID's checked, and they were escorted all of way from the back of the line into the club. Basically, if you are there with a guy , or your fake boobs attached to a painfully anorexic spray tanned body aren't about to pop out there's no way you're getting in this joint.

I cannot believe it is legal to run an establishment like this.  It is discrimination and it is wrong.  The best part is that we were with a party that had bought a booth and they had paid over 150 dollars to get a group of people in that night including us, who never got in.  This place is just awful.

I just find it difficult that on a Wednesday night, they want to charge a cover in SACRAMENTO (not CHI, NYC, SF, LA, MIA?) and they picked out my shoes and not the other guy in line who had the same shoes.  something isnt right here.

The Mix had a very diverse crowd, although I would say leans more on the older side (40-55 yrs). Most of the men seem like they frequent this place often and there was a sense of entitlement amongst many people there.

They have a line to get in, but then there are 2 'other' lines which seem to be VIP/Booth lines. It's unclear who/how they determine which line to take in first...but appears they let the general line wait until 10:30 so they get your cover charge! Luckily, we didn't have to pay the cover but I think it's ~$20.

They played good music (old and new) hits which got people moving; however the dance floor is a little small for my taste. The Mix has numerous lounges indoor/outdoor with a fire pit and multiple bars located around the club. The drinks were PRICY and can be difficult at times to even get a drink because of the crowd.

If I go next time, I'd prefer to get a group & get a table....

    Well,

    Another bust.

I frequent this Club from time to time.  Most times on Friday.  I've been there on both Wednesday and Sunday Nites.   More like.. I've attempted to go there those two nites.

If the line is long by 9:30pm ... My advise to you is go to Firestone or another close bar and have something to drink and eat to wile the time away.  DONOT sit in line... It wont budge till well after 10:30 or maybe after 11pm.  It may "appear" to be moving, but it is just people giving up and going elsewhere.  The CLUB is giving first priority to those who will fess up $$$$ for a booth/VIP.  Once those are filled, then they will back-fill  from the line outside.

So, If you really want to get in... Pay up $$$ for VIP or come back later in the night.

Dont buy the hipe they give you to "Come early"... You'll waste your time waiting in line.

    SB..

I NEVER write Yelp reviews unless it's for a time that I had an exceptional experience one way or another. But I guess there's a first time for everything....

Ahhhh, MiX. There's never been a time when I've felt a need to write a good review for you, because, well, you're just okay. And it's ironic that the time I am finally writing you a review, is because of how underwhelming and utterly pathetic/petty you are.

Last time we (my boyfriend and I) were here, it was with a group of friends that frequent this establishment. That's pretty much the only time we come around because frankly, you suck. Nevermind that these same friends come and spend upwards of $500 each time (without even trying). In the 4 years (give or take) that you've been open, I've been here at least 20 times. Never had an issue getting in before.

I guess this time was just special. You're holy grail of nights (Wednesday) the only time ANYONE comes to your establishment because there's something better going on somewhere else in town every other night of the week. I know 9:30pm is very busy time for you.... I suppose that's why your inexperienced and over-puffed security guards upheld your "polishable shoes only" rule to such a high regard. Obviously they don't ACTUALLY know anything about hospitality.

My boyfriend and I stopped by to say hi to a friend who was having his birthday at your medicore establishment. Being that him and 15 of our other friends had been in your bar since 5pm, I'm guessing by the time they leave, they will have spent an accumulated amount of upwards of $2,000. How many of your "gold" or "elite" members come in and spend that on a Wednesday night? Yeah, none. But that is irrelevant, obviously. You don't value the people who pay your wages and keep your shitty establishment open. Not to mention that my boyfriend and friends of his have thrown parties there & brought in DJs (some of the biggest Sacramento has ever had) and brought your bar lots of business and lots of, yes, $$$.

Good people of MiX, it's time for you to wake up. This is Sacramento. We have been to clubs and bars in LA, NYC, SF (the places we frequent because Sacramento is so lame) and never had an issue with getting in because of shoes.

And I know, I probably know nothing about the hospitality industry and what it stands for or its mission to its patrons. No... I'm just a 5 year Assistant GM for the largest hotel chain in the world.

But please believe, I will no longer recommend your establishment to any of my out-of-town guests. And I will DEFINITELY encourage my deep-pocketed friends to spend their money elsewhere.

I like coming to the MIX because it has such a diverse crowd. I love the layout of the club with it's numerous lounges, outdoor fire pit, and two bars. The only problem I have with the MIX is the fact that the music is always bad (i.e. stuff you hear on the radio 24/7). If you could combine the DJs/music from District30 with the MIX it'd be the perfect club.

Happy Hour: Excellent food at great prices. One of my favorite Happy Hour spots! I love the sliders and the sweet potato fries.

My friends and I came here initially for a wedding reception. The reception part was wonderful. We had photo booths set up, we had an open cash bar and passed hors d'oeuvre. The mini sliders were delicious, and my favorite was the smoked salmon on a crostini. That was amazing. I loved the outdoor seating on a hot, autumn day. It was very quaint and beautiful. I loved it. The servers were courteous as well. It was a perfect evening.

After the reception ended, my friends and I stayed until the club closed. Apparently the MIX is a very popular spot. There were lines out the door. We got VIP seating and we danced all night. At one point we even heard Gangnam Style. I was surprised and very much amused.

This lounge is located in downtown sac-town.

Leopard printed seats on the inside. Comfy seats on the outside. A cozy fire pit. Overall a wonderful layout easy to maneuver to take in all the people and action.

The crowd was a mix of normals looking for a drink with friends, club rats sleazing their way with the (plentiful) old men, tourists (not the tacky kind either), and a bit of everything else.

Drinks were typical bar types... gin & tonic, vodka soda, jack & coke... you get the idea

WEDNESDAY n SUNDAY nights  are the best night at this night club.  IF you are you feeling the mid-week night out this is the place to be and I also can say sunday night is pretty fun.  PACKED LITTERALLY LINE DOWN TO THE NEXT STREET... so if you wanna join this party on these paticular day, you must go early.

Admission is 15 dollars, and guestlist closes at 10:30pm.

    DRESS TO IMPRESS.

Bars/drinks: two bars one inside and outside.  Prices are the same 10-12 dollars shots.  Gets really crowded, I suggest drinking at the local bars around the night club before entering...

Smaller club which consist of a patio and dance floor and a booth area.

Dance floor is a little bit small, but itll do for the crowd, the crowd usually is a mix crowd which mainly like to lounge and drink.  NICE PLACE TO BE!

You won't be disappointed because there's hot girls and boys here.  =)

Cougars and old men in gold chains as far as the eye can see. The drinks are pretty good, and the service is great, I also like the layout of the place. There's an open balcony (which sucks when it rains), and a fire pit area. There's also private seating inside with drink service.

The dance scene is kinda small and really tightly packed. Not really my idea of a great dance place.

The Mix is an awsome place for locals and visitors. It's like a Mini Vegas!!!  Lots of good looking people hanging out for fun!  You'll get a taste of an outdoor lounge as well as an indoor lounge with a dance floor. Music is mostly late 80's and 90's. Demographics is 30-50 yr old.  That's why they charge if your under 40. Free admission for 40 and over crowd.  The owner, has years of experience in the Restaurant and Club Industry. IF your looking for a younger crowd and newer music try The Park, which is a block away. Same owner...

Coming from LA, The Mix is up there with the best of lounges. I go to The Mix everytime i'm in SACTOWN!!!

Mosts of the 2-3 ratings are those who got charged cover if you noticed...

I've been here both for the happy hour as well as club time, and had a pleasant experience at both. Their happy hour is slightly above average- not the cheapest in town but has a good selection. It was fairly crowded on a Tuesday, but that makes sense I guess, since their crowd seems to be more the middle-aged professional types. Service was good. We ordered at the bar and found a seat outside, but I believe they had severs as well.

The club, well, that was an experience. They played 80s and 90s jams when I was  there. I'm not sure if it's like that all the time, but it was a nice change for sure! The drink prices are about average. They do have two bars, but both seem to be busy constantly. The dance floor is small. Most space seems to be taken up by booths, but I still didn't feel overly crowded.

Best place to go to when you have nothing to do on a Wednesday night. I'm 21, and I love, love the crowd here! No ghettoness, no dirtyness, people here are polite and treat you well! The decor is very well-lit, big dance floor, and plenty of couches to crash on. There's an outdoor patio area with lamps and fire pits, so if you think you found your soul mate at the club, you should definitely hit this spot lol. The music that they play here are top 40s, a couple of old school hip hop, and some nice mixes but it doesn't really matter when you're buzzed because you'll be dancing any ways.

However, there are some occassions where you will have a creeper or two, coming up at you; but that's any club. One thing that I find really funny is that there are cougars and panthers on the prowl here on Wednesday nights.  think I saw one of my professors here, but I wasn't too sure. But overall, this is by far one of my favorite clubs in Sacramento!

I'm not a fan of clubs, but this place has a great happy hour.  It's usually pretty mellow, which is nice.  You can sit in one of the cubby hole type areas and feel like you are relaxing in someone's living room after work.  They have food and drink specials for happy hour.  The house wine was pretty good and the mac and cheese was very cheesy...as it should be!

They have a nice patio area that is fancy, but feels like a fancy friend's backyard.  You know, the one who lives downtown and has a rooftop loft?  I don't have one of those friends either, but I imagine that's what it's like.

I would not come here on a Saturday night again. We arrived around 9:45 and although there was no line and hardly anyone inside, we were charged $20 cover. And the club never got to capacity. The age range was 40-50s, and while I am no spring chicken myself there were several elderly couples. And by elderly I mean 60s people!

If I had not paid $20 I would've left or maybe had a better time, but with that, the drink prices and the crowd we just were not feeling it. If I were @ the park paying $20 I wouldn't complain. One expects to pay top dollar when your going to big venue that gets packed. Mix is a very nice club ambiance wise. The outdoor patio and VIP areas are very nice. Prime location. Wednesdays appear to be the night for young professionals. So I will stick to that.

    Get your act together MIX!

I've been here a handful of times, literally four...I think. The last two, being within a month of each other.

The first, of the last two encounters, was less than stellar. It was the MOST awkward interaction I've EVER had with a bartender. It was as if he didn't want to help us or didn't know what to do?!? The HH food was pretty delish, but the chicken skewers were super salty...thank goodness for the pesto aioli for dipping, otherwise I'd have needed about ten gallons of water to feel normal afterwards. The mini donut holes are AMZING, worth it in themselves. They were out of their pizza's, which everyone seems to rave about for their Wednesday HH! Lamesauce, we made it there by 6:30ish...to slow, I guess.

This last time we had a free booth. If you can score that Black Card, think the 916 version of the AMEX black card, you are extra VIP at MIX. We didn't wait in line and we had a comp'd booth, but not a comp'd bottle. Our server had a fancy order taker aka iPod touch to take our orders, pretty tech savvy if you ask me.

The issue came when it was time to pay my tab. Without looking at the card I signed and tipped her. Then I realized it was someone else's card. I found her and let her know the issue. She was super embarrassed, but didn't try to solve the problem. I had to ask her where my card was and she said she had it, when her face had "I'm lying" all over it. The register was right by our booth so I watched the entire thing go down. She had to get her manager, so had to find my card, he did a bunch of stuff on the register...and finally about 30 minutes later and one more conversation with her I had my bill and my credit card. Not one word regarding what just happened or apology about the mishap.

Maybe I win the Sensitive Sally award, but I'm an advocate of owning your mistakes and making sure the customer is okay. But I guess at MIX this isn't something they practice.

I do enjoy their décor, boughie livin' life, but not enough to endure the incompetence of their staff.

I have a feeling I might get blacklisted now, but I doubt I'll even come back...

I'm not out to drag down Mix's reviews or anything and I actually enjoy going here, so 3 stars for this review. Specifically b/c one of the servers during my visit for Mymy N.'s bday was vexing; yes, it was Tiffany. She deserves negative poo poo pellets or a chill pill. If you don't want to hear me rant about a bad server, move on ha ha

I tried contacting Mix Downtown more directly soon after our visit to inform them of this incident (at least I'm hoping it was one and that she just wasn't an accident), but I couldn't find an admin email on their website. Figured a call to their events person wasn't going to make a diff.

In any case, a bad day I can take. Intermittent rude gestures here and there are also bearable. Incessant contemptuous comments are NOT COOL! Hey Tiff, you work for Mix Downtown, not for a freaking sad establishment. I could tell she was uneasy when the first few of us arrived, but the rest of her service was inexcusable. Clearly insinuating it was our large orders (oh sorry, we didn't realize bigger tabs sucked) that caused missing food and checking my friend's id after I bought her a BIRTHDAY DRINK weren't cool the way you did it. Is it so strange for a dude to buy a girl a drink even on a regular day?! Instead of calling upon restaurant policy, you said it was suspicious. D: Even recounting this experience riles me up, but I calm down quickly so I'm back at one.

Conversation with Tiffany (as best to my memory)
Me: Do you think you could bring out the cake in about 5 minutes or so?
    T (responding curtly): Sure
Me: And can you put 26 candles on it (feeling really guilty....)?
T (responding like an annoyed 12 year old): Well, it's going to be longer than 5 minutes then. I have other tables I have to take care of.

It's not what you say, it's how you say it. There was a large group of us and I understand that can be challenging, but the other folks attending to us were super cool. We even asked for forgiveness b/c people were moving around and stuff. Some people disagree w/ leaving super low tips, but had she not applied the automatic group gratuity charge for a select group of us (including my bill), she wouldn't have gotten that much out of me.

No worries Mix, I'll be back. I just hope I never have to see Tiffany again.

p.s. Tatiana (I think?) was super cool! I wish she were our official server.

The best happy hour in Sac is still MIX for me! Especially on Thursday nights where it goes until close. More eating than drinking at this happy hour! Mac and cheese is <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fbomb.com&s=bb4f996415a9c2f21137e27cfb68f439a48cec2652b53e9b50dd7e766dbe177e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://bomb.com</a> and I love the kbbq skewers which are quite tasty and really large for the hh price. I always have a good time with my friends in the beautifully decorated lounge area.

Watch out for the blonde server named Tiffany. She was rude, rolled her eyes, and didn't believe that my ID was mine on my 26th birthday! She straight up said it was suspicious that someone bought me a drink. When we asked about something we ordered that hadn't come out, she said that it was our fault for ordering so much. WOW. The other servers and bartenders are great though!

They have a pretty good happy hour until 7, although it has been awhile since I've been here. They specialize in small plates, so go for the sliders, and skewers.  Be warned that since this is a lounge, so you are paying for the atmosphere.  Hence, the draft beer is in a fancy looking glass that is not a full pint/bottle.  That's right, we tested it.  But I do commend them for a having a vast array of bottled beer to choose from including but not limited to Chimay, Eye of the Hawk, and the bannana bread beer that my girlfriend loves.  I know it sounds weird, but try it, it's pretty frickin' good and I usually don't like bannana flavored stuff unless it's a real bannnana.

My recent venture here was for the club part.  I was tired and not in the mood, but once we got inside, my mood was changed.  The DJ was playing pretty good music, which included Top 40, and some old school (the crowd loves the old school since it really is a mature crowd) and it was surprisingly filled for 10:00.  But once the clock rolls, it does get a little cramped.

The patio is where it's at.  Couches, lounge chairs around a fire pit, charming lighting and a seperate bar.  But they also have bottle service closer to the dance floor if that tickles your fancy.

I don't especially like going to clubs, but this place is starting to grow on me.  It just depends on what you are looking for in a club/lounge.  But if you have a group that you really enjoy hanging out with in a club atmosphere then I would reccommend Mix.
