It's a chain and it's on a campus. I didn't expect much, but I was actually surprised. Before a show at the Constant Center we all met up for some grub. Our waitress was enthusiastic and managed a table of 8 on a rush with separate checks. We had the fish and chips and I enjoyed the light but crisp breading. Totally bummed that they don't let dogs on the outdoor patio.
Review Source:Ok....this place has POTENTIAL to be an awesome hangout but its not there yet. Â The staff is not as attentive as they should be...unless you're a local face. Â I understand the neighborhood bar feel, but if you want to keep your tables full, you need to pay the same amount of attention to ALL of your patrons. Â I wasn't "ignored" but I got what seemed more like obligatory walk bys and "everything alrights?" but not genuine "service." Â As my beer dwindled I wasn't offered another beer. Â Once I was done eating and the plates had been collected and my beer dwindled further still and I didn't order another one, I was waiting for a check. Â A more attentive server would've picked up on that. Â My server, instead, was behind the service area twirling her hair and chatting with a co-worker. Â I put my CC on the table as a cue hoping she would see it. She didn't. Â When she finally DID come out with checks in her hand I assumed one of them was mine...it was not so I requested my check. Â She acknowledged and went back behind the counter and re-engaged her co-worker in another bout of conversation. Â I had called a cab after informing her that I was ready to cash out. Â The cab got there before my check did. Â FAIL. Â
The food wasn't bad, but it was far from exceptional. Â Better customer service would have made it easier to swallow though...pun intended. Â
The overall layout and appearance of the bar however was top notch. Â Great for watching a game and I'm not even a sports fan. Â
Bottom line: mediocre customer service holds this place back from being a stand out establishment.
Food is your bar food a little greasy and fattening.. but it is really good! Only down fall is food is expensive and so are the drinks! Drink specials aren't that great. Always very clean! But the full-court chicken sandwich.. substitute the honey mustard for buffalo sauce!!! and onion rings on the side! YUM!
Review Source:How has only one person written a review?! This place has great cheesy tots! Â I went to ODU and loved to take family and friends here on visits. Â Games days here can get kind of rowdy but it really is a great place to grab some deep-fried goodness and a beer!
I love all of the odu sports memorabilia! Â You should get more sailing iteams since they have more national championships than any other sport there ; )
Monarch Sports Grille is a great place to chill out, have a beer, grab some great food, and watch your favorite sports team. Â Right across the street from ODU and the Ted Constant Convocation Center its a great place to grab a bite to eat before any event. The food is awesome and there is an array of different drink options. Â Through out the week there are different events going on, I especially enjoy Team Trivia on Wednesday nights. Â The staff and bartenders are attentive and fantastic. Â Check this place out and bring your friends!!!
