Great folks with great service who will talk beer to you. They always have a great local beer selection, which we really appreciate. We've been to many growler shops around Atlanta (we even mapped them out on our website) and Moondogs has very competitive pricing. If you're a first timer, check in w/ Foursquare our Scoutmob and get a free growler (pay for the beer only).

    Enjoy and drink local.

Of the three growler joints i have been to this is easily my least favorite one. The prices are not fantastic, the beer selection is OK, but does not wow me, and the fact that they charge for samples is perhaps the worst idea imaginable. Honestly the only reason I come to Moondog growlers is it is the only place I can get to easily in traffic. Unfortunately for Moondog the Growler Store in ITP Sandy springs seems to have extended their hours.

A note to the owner, or at least the guy who is there til closing. I don't want a tasting flight. Nearly all of your competitors have a better selection and offer samples for free.

    Better Choices:
The Growler Store on Roswell road (Sandy Springs ITP)
or just got to Total Wine and get a six pack of whatever you like.

I visited Moondog this week & told them what kind of beer I like, and they recommended one.  I asked if it was around the same taste & color, and he handed me a sample (without me asking, which I thought was very nice).  Then, I paid the bill & noticed I had been charged $1.00 for the sample!  It was in a little shot glass & was mostly foam (and I was never told it would cost money, nor did I ask for it).  Also, the man wrote all over my growler bottle, which was from another establishment, saying he was writing them "a note".  Weird.  Anyhow, there is enough competition in this market.  I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I like that you can come in and sample some beers with a tasting flight or a half pour.   I don't like the price of the growlers.  The problem is that growlers are the new beer cupcakes.  For instance right now they have a 64 oz growler of Lazy Magnolia pecan for $13.49.  72 oz of Lazy Magnolia pecan in 6 delightfully sealed bottles costs $9 or so at my local store.  You just paid 21 cents an ounce for quickly perishable beer, while I paid 12 cents.  Look who's hip and cool now.  I can get double the beer frosting for what you paid for your growler.

I want to go back to Moondog Growlers.  I think the concept is a dog-friendly place to sample some local brews and get some to go!

    What's not to like.

Holy smokes they charge tooooo much!! Growlers are $2-4 bucks more than the Ale Yeah just up Roswell road (for the same beer)!  Like the idea but feel like they're taking advantage of the trend. Hopefully when Total Wine enters the market things will straighten out.
