Mosaic Restaurants

I made a a 7:45pm reservation for Saturday night for my husband and myself. We arrived at 7:15 to have a drink at the bar first, but we let the host know we were there. We tabbed out with the bartender and promptly re-checked in with the host at 7:45, but were told there were still people ahead of us and it would be 10-15 minutes. Our seats at the bar were already taken, so we decided just to wait it out while standing in the waiting area. After 15 minutes of waiting, we asked when we would be seated and were told a table was paying and once they got up, we would have their table.

Thirty minuets then had gone by and still no table - even though we had a reservation. There were two tables pushed together to make a five top table that was empty but for some reason they would not seat us there, which made me even more angry.

Finally, after threatening to leave 35 minutes past our reservation time, the manager said he would get us a table right away and pick up our first round of drinks and our appetizers. We were then seated at 8:20pm. However, when we got the bill, they only took care of one appetizer. The manager had even said, "order whatever you want, order six appetizers, I don't care, it is on me", so we were disappointed they only took care of one after everything.

The ONLY thing keeping me from giving this one star is that the food was excellent. Next time we will try a different location since the service was so terrible.

Side note - we have been to the Des Peres location twice before just for happy hour and had experienced sub-par service.

Love that they opened this place. Okay location. Not super busy. Same great taste.

I went for Sunday brunch with a friend who had a Groupon. We arrived at 10 a.m. with a reservation and were seated promptly. Water was served right away. Our server reviewed the Groupon for us and told us what was included.

My dining partner got the flatiron steak with egg and roasted harissa potatoes.There was some white gravy/sauce on the steak that the menu didn't mention. It looked pretty good. She shared a piece of steak and a piece of egg with me. I could barely cut the steak with the knife provided, but it was tasty, as was the egg.

I got the blue stone crab and proscuitto eggs benedict with roasted harissa potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The Hollandaise was too lemony, and that's about all I tasted. The lemon juice is supposed to give a bit of acidity to the sauce, not overtake the flavor.

The roasted harissa potatoes were OK at first, but the spiciness just overtook my palette after a few bites.

I had a hearty to-go vessel, but I'm not sure what will come of it.
