I made a a 7:45pm reservation for Saturday night for my husband and myself. We arrived at 7:15 to have a drink at the bar first, but we let the host know we were there. We tabbed out with the bartender and promptly re-checked in with the host at 7:45, but were told there were still people ahead of us and it would be 10-15 minutes. Our seats at the bar were already taken, so we decided just to wait it out while standing in the waiting area. After 15 minutes of waiting, we asked when we would be seated and were told a table was paying and once they got up, we would have their table.

Thirty minuets then had gone by and still no table - even though we had a reservation. There were two tables pushed together to make a five top table that was empty but for some reason they would not seat us there, which made me even more angry.

Finally, after threatening to leave 35 minutes past our reservation time, the manager said he would get us a table right away and pick up our first round of drinks and our appetizers. We were then seated at 8:20pm. However, when we got the bill, they only took care of one appetizer. The manager had even said, "order whatever you want, order six appetizers, I don't care, it is on me", so we were disappointed they only took care of one after everything.

The ONLY thing keeping me from giving this one star is that the food was excellent. Next time we will try a different location since the service was so terrible.

Side note - we have been to the Des Peres location twice before just for happy hour and had experienced sub-par service.

Love that they opened this place. Okay location. Not super busy. Same great taste.

I went for Sunday brunch with a friend who had a Groupon. We arrived at 10 a.m. with a reservation and were seated promptly. Water was served right away. Our server reviewed the Groupon for us and told us what was included.

My dining partner got the flatiron steak with egg and roasted harissa potatoes. There was some white gravy/sauce on the steak that the menu didn't mention. It looked pretty good. She shared a piece of steak and a piece of egg with me. I could barely cut the steak with the knife provided, but it was tasty, as was the egg.

I got the blue stone crab and proscuitto eggs benedict with roasted harissa potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The Hollandaise was too lemony, and that's about all I tasted. The lemon juice is supposed to give a bit of acidity to the sauce, not overtake the flavor.

The roasted harissa potatoes were OK at first, but the spiciness just overtook my palette after a few bites.

I had a hearty to-go vessel, but I'm not sure what will come of it.

After posting a review of  my bad experience here instead of asking how they could make it better or why I said certain things in my yelp Nadia from mosaic replied with a very condescending and unprofessional response. After reading several posts it was clear that they bit off more than they could chew with the groupons and it was not just us that had the bad experience, and had the response been as nice as it was to other yelpers we may have wanted to try mosaic again, but we won't be now and if any one asks we tell them not to try it either. We were at fault for not reading that reservations were required, but the service we got at the restaurant did not have to be so poor. I am sure we weren't the only ones that did not read that part of the groupon. I don't mind making reservations, nor do I mind waiting for an hour or longer for table when the service and the food is worth the trouble.
Another yelp was posted for Mosaic directed at me(which is immature because we are all entitled to our opinions on the service that was given) instead of just for mosaic itself. It seems this person was a friend or some how acquainted with mosaic, seeing as nadia replied to this yelp directed at me with thank you so much for being such a valued customer, let me give a gift card. After showing this repsonse to all my collegues and friends, the same view point was taken that the response to my yelp was unprofessionala and the response to the other yelp targeting me was also unprofessional and extremely catty.
We bought the groupon to go here. We walked in and there were open seats at the bar. After standing around for a few minutes w out being greeted we asked if we could sit at the bar and the hostess was incredibly rude. She asked if we had reservations we said no and
Just said well we don't take walk ins  They take reservations for Sunday brunch and include the bar seats.  We won't be back and have called groupon to get a refund. If half and half doesn't take reservations there's no reason why mosaic

Went to their a la carte brunch. I got there late and found out they needed reservation for the main seating area. But they were very cool to suggest sitting in the bar if you didn't wait. And that was just fince by me. Had an omlete. Wife had the flat iron skillet plate. Loved it.

Update! I received an yelp response from Mosaic's manager letting me know that they appreciated my feedback on the sangria (when i went it was very fruit punch like, bright red and sweet!).

Well, i've been back twice and ordered the sangria and you know what, it was MUCH better. So, not sure if the first time was a fluke or what but bravo Mosaic on the response and excellent sangria on my follow up visits!

Very good tapas style menu.  Expect small portions and a bill in the 50 dollar range per person to fill you up.  Everything is well made and tasty.

I typically have had very good experiences at this location.  The brunch, lunch & dinner menus are all unique and the food is very tasty.  I have had spotty service in the bar area, but the GM was very apologetic and accommodating.  It's super close to my house, and that makes it a favorite.

Most recently, I was here with my husband for Valentine's Day.  He had the lamb in a Gorgonzola sauce that was to die for.  As always, their butternut squash soup is stunning, almost like a desert with vanilla flavor.  We considered asking for a trough of it to take home :)  Their house bread is a foccacia with herbed olive oil & it's terrific.  I had the Valentine's Day menu which included an amuse bouche & some really yummy foie gras.  The rib eye was tender and delicious.

I really like the decor here as well.  Modern, without being too cold.  Definitely worth returning to, especially given the proximity.

Mosaic Des Peres is as good as it gets. I love all of these silly Groupon people. I have eaten the brunch at Mosaic 4 times now and have never had a bad experience, sure I may of had to wait a little bit, the Groupon DOES say "RESERVATIONS REQUIRED" I mean seriously beating down a hostess because you failed to read your Groupon is a little sad don't you think. Lisa C. I was actually standing next to you waiting to be sat when this all went down, the hostess was not rude to you, she was very busy dealing with people that actually read their Groupon and had reservations. Don't be mad at her be mad at yourself, it's your fault, not hers. I once again enjoyed my brunch at Mosaic this afternoon, the biscuits and grave are my FAV!!! I have them almost every time I go to brunch there, the french toast is my second favorite!!! The staff is awesome and very friendly and from what I have seen work very hard for these brunches, so tip them well fellow Grouponers. The manager Kory is very nice and pleasant to talk to, He talks to every customer that walks through the doors, I bet he is tired at the end of his shift, lol. I love Mosaic brunch and I will be back next week for more. Please don't let the words of a few sad jaded people turn you away from this place, I have been here for lunch and dinner as well and LOVED every bit of it. Ask for Eric or Zach, they take care of me most times.

Had brunch with groupon. Thanks goodness or steak and eggs with 1 Bloody Mary, 2 oj's and 2 coffees would have been $63! Won't go back for brunch , way too expensive for what you get, especially compared to The Egg and I or First Watch. Potatoes were excellent and steak fine. Saw lots of Groupons being used. I am a slow learner as this is my second meal here and never been impressed.

I visit this location 2-3 times a month. I always go for happy hour and end up staying longer than I expect. I love the atmosphere. I always have fun. The bartenders Kristen and Kevin are awesome. The service is always excellent and Kevin is just plain hot. They recommended Martini's for me this past time and they were delicious. My favorite by far is the French 75. Give it a try.

Probably the worst service I have ever had. The bartender has a horrible patch of facial hair under his lip that he kept stroking. In what universe is that considered attractive? Secondly, we moved to the couches away from patch man and the floor server proceeded to ignore us because we brought nearly empty glasses from a closed tab from the bar. The floor server came up to get a server book off of our table and didn't even make eye contact or greet us-- and we were seated in his section.  He also reeked of cigarette smoke.  Should servers be smoking then coming inside to breathe on patrons? Seriously.  I was in the service industry for nearly 15 years and have never seen anything like this.  There was no management anywhere. We should have gone next door to lions choice. Regarding drinks, the wine pour was maybe two fingers, the chocolate martini is marginal, and the ladies next to us were screaming at some sports event on TV.  Don't go here.  Seriously.  I wanted one star, but my friend forced me to put two because we didn't walk out.

This is a very nice-looking restaurant with lots of outdoor seating.  We tried them for a Saturday brunch.  Service was nice, food was good, but the brunch menu seemed small for our liking - there were only so many choices.

Took the wife for an evening out. droped in at about 7pm on a Saturday night. very busy sat at the bar to wait for a table. The bartender did a faboulous job making two Old Fashions - one scotch and one burbon. They did not have Rye so went with Makers on his suggestion. He made them perfect. He was friendly, good small talk with fun attitude. Owner came over and talked with us - Nice guy - big friendly smile, gregarious. Told us his huge Washington ave resturant is doing great but he really wants to make it work in West County too. Totally different crowd.Nice to see an owner care - was touring his resturants on a busy nite to see what he could do better.

Our table was ready much faster than expected. the room was busy, nice crowd. dressed in all types. Some local neighbors with their jeans and northface on, others dressed to make a nice night out. This place is designed much nicer than a come as you are restuarant...make an effort people.

We tried the flash fried artichoke topped with shavings parmesan and two dips, a roasted lemon vinegar aolie and a chipoltle dip - typical of any fried veggie, takes the delicate taste out -not a fav.  I ordered the Tangerine Duck with spiced carrot Puree, roasted califlower, oak log shitake mushrooms and pearl onions. It was deeelish! Loved it. My lovely wife had the scallops. tender and delicious - she mopped it up. I know she does not care for Duck, she gave me a taste but I let her enjoy her scallops. Perfectly cooked. both were very nice portions and presented in a very artistic manner. When they say Fusion Tapa's - the display is as delicate as the taste. Waiter was very new, only a week or so, but he did a very fine job although a bit trepidacious. He recommended the French Bread Pudding for dessert - which neither of us fans of bread pudding. He was so impressed with it we gave it a try and were pleasently surprised, it was not the typical soggy bread in a sweet vanilla sauce but much more firm with an apple/cinnamon taste with a ball of Bannana gelato on top - that was heaven - my wife wanted more as we devoroured it.

The manager cam over and checked on us. Shared commonality. Very pleasent. We realized he had done this the last time we were in for Brunch. Again, management cares and it shows. Its a great space, modernm design. Outside the short brick terrice tops are lined with large seat cusshions so that tables can accomodate larger groups in a casual manner. Enjoyable, not pretencious. The crowd began to thin at 9pm - like in most west county restaurants that don't cater to singles with cheap bar specials or music. But its a great room. Great food. Nice options. We will be back again

What an AMAZING experience!!! A few girlfriends and I decided to visit here for dinner. Heard amazing things about it and they were right. From the minute we walked in we were greeted with a very sweet hostess. We only waited about 2-3minutes for our table . Our server was Jonathan. He was amazing. He recommended delicious dishes and explained each dish to us as it came out to our table. We ordered about 7 things off the tapas menu and shared it. The food came out perfect timing and more delicious than the description. The chef came out with the "special" of the night and explained everything to us. It was Amazing. We ended our dinner with the chocolate tart and the apple tart... both were so good. We were all so full from dinner but still fighting for the last bite of the deserts! (they were that good) Everything that we ordered was just amazing. What a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!

Diners beware. I attempted to eat brunch here today using a voucher purchased on Groupon. We arrived at the start of brunch and were confronted with a line of people. The hostesses reported there were no tables in the restaurant or the bar and turned us away. No option to wait, no option to sit at the bar. Of note, the restaurant was half empty and the bar almost completely empty. I estimate at least 10-15 other couples were turned away as well.

I had called earlier in the week and was told by the hostess that at most a wait for a table would be 20-30 minutes and if that was too long, we most definitely would be able to sit at the bar. Obviously this did not hold true.

I will not be offering them my patronage, but should you decide to attempt to get a table, plan accordingly!

I am updating my original review because I just had eaten dinner there and do happy hour quite often.  They have a great happy hour and I took my mom here for brunch on Sunday and it was fantastic.  I would highly suggest making reservations we did not and ended up sitting at the bar, which was fine as well.  I had the patty melt with fries and their fries were really good.. My mother had the biscuits and gravy with the fried egg on top and of course I tasted it and it was fantastic!!! I will be back for brunch for sure!

Brunch.....you think it would be easy.  Eggs, pancakes, a little juice, coffee.  I do it all the time at home and it turns out pretty good.  We went here for Brunch. We had a reservation...oh, sorry it's going to be awhile, we are really busy. They were running out of food and had to go to store. Saw the guys coming in with grocery bags.  We asked our waiter for preserves,  you know, jam for toast?  He did not know what preserves were.  We told him.  He came back, "sorry no preservatives left".  Really?  I am sure I didn't ask for preservatives, yikes!! Anyway, overcooked omelets, bad ricotta pancakes.  It was not up to Mosaic standards.  I have had dinner here and it has always been good.  The wait staff seemed overwhelmed and some seemed not too happy to be there.  I will go back for dinner but never again for brunch.  I'd rather stay home and eat Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries.

Tried their Sunday brunch and were disappointed. The quality of food and its presentation was nothing special (although it sounded appealing on the menu).
The waitress (Lia?) was unfriendly. As soon as she discovered that we were not interested in ordering any Bloody Mary drinks, she lost interest in us as customers.

We won't be back (there are - fortunately - many other great places in town to enjoy brunch!)...

This place is pretty lame. The cocktails are nice, with some interesting house infused vodkas, but the food is just average.

They call it tapas but I don't see a bowl of soup or some sugared wet mussels as very suitable for sharing. It's hard to explain what was specifically "wrong" with the food, but nothing is really delicious. The blandness of it all just left me feeling a little disappointed.

Very bad experience. Bought the brunch groupon which was a good deal. My girlfriend and I attempted to use the groupon the first week after buying it. We were seated and no one came to our table for 15 minutes. We left. Fine... it was their first week and probably weren't prepared for the Groupon rush.

Fast-forward 3 weeks. We decided to give it another try.....we were promptly seated (the place was dead) and sat for 10 minutes before a waitress came to take our drink orders. Another 15 minutes to get a coffee and bloody mary. (Not impressed.) Eggs and burger took 45 minutes. Food and/or drink made my girlfriend and I ill for the remainder of the day.

Its worth noting that I have always enjoyed Mosaic's Downtown location... but this experience doesn't even deserve 1 star.

If it were up to the food quality and inventive menu it would rate 4-5 stars.  However the value just is not there.  The economy is bad so portion size is important.  what they served for the prices were disappointing.  You need to order 3-4 apps to get a small to moderate meal.  Expect 40-50/person and you leave hungry.  Now the positives.  The trio of soup were excellent served in 3 small shot glasses for 12 bucks.  The short rib sliders two to an order were very tasty but rather small at 5 bucks each.  The tuna tartare for 12 dollars was served in a creative serving plate but contained the smallest portion barely passable. My wife ordered the salmon entree and it was at best a 3-4 oz portion but well prepared and tasty. All in all excellent well prepare food, inventive presentation but shockingly small portions.

Normally I would hit up the downtown location, but I was meeting several girlfriends for brunch from all directions, and this was a happy meet-in-the-middle compromise.  I am thrilled to have discovered this spot, especially their brunch.
This location is in a strip mall, but it is set very far back from the busy Manchester traffic.  Even with a table outside, it was quiet and pleasant.  Tons of parking for all of us non-carpoolers as well.
Our server was so sweet...she greeted us like we were old friends, smiling and laughing through the whole meal.  I had a bloody mary and a mimosa (have to compare and contrast, obviously!) and both were excellent.  Their bloody mary bar is fun, but wasn't well-stocked.  No olives the whole time we were there, even after alerting the bartender.
We started with hummus, and it was delicious.  Full of flavor, and plenty of pita for the group.  Pet peeve when I have to ask for extra pita!
I had the biscuits and gravy with a fried egg on top.  Thank goodness I had just run 6 miles at Forest park because it was rich, huge, and stick to your bones good.  My friend to the right got the patty melt with fries, which were crisp and tasty.  GF to the left got to granola french toast with peppered bacon, which was thick and crispy.  Prices are so reasonable with brunch cocktails at $5 and entrees about $10. We were all pleased and want to return for another visit.

My friend and I are very much brunch people, and we like to try different brunches around the city. This is the first time that I've conceded to come into the county for one our outings, and I was definitely pleased with parts of it.

We used a groupon, so we got two entrees and brunch cocktails. My friend doesn't drink, but I had the bloody mary. I usually don't like bloody mary's, but since that was the only one out of my two choices that I'm not allergic to the ingredients of, I got it. It tasted very good, but I was missing any garnishes. I would really have liked to have some celery, and I read on other reviews that they have a bar for self-service, but my server never mentioned it. Speaking of drinks, we were sitting there for well over an hour, my friend only having water, our glasses were never refilled even once.

Our food was half awesome and half eh. We split the Lime Salmon Omelet and the Ricotta Pancakes. The Omelet was amazing. It was full of salmon, had katamala olives, capers, and goat cheese with a tarragon sour cream like sauce on top. It went great with our peppered bacon. The pancakes, however, were not so great. I've had pancakes with ricotta in the batter before, and I love the texture of them, usually. These were over cooked and quite flat. I couldn't taste any ricotta, and didn't have the moist texture of pancakes I've had. The cooked apples that went with them were good, and the maple butter made them a bit better.

One thing about the food I can say is that the portions were perfect for brunch. I'm not a big eater, and I couldn't finish my meal.

My boyfriend and I went to Mosaic for dinner and $80 we were still hungry. We each had 2 beers and shared asparagus, short ribs (only 2 ribs per order), 1/2 pound of mussels, and scallops (4 per order, which seemed to be 2 cut in half). The food was good, but portions were sparse. I get that the point of small plates is to order a bunch of stuff and make a meal out of it, I just thought that we got a lot less for the price than we should have.

    So sad, * sigh*

We tried Mosaic today for Sunday Brunch. We started with a Bloody Mary. It was served on ice in a tumbler with a salted rim, no garnish.  My first question was" where is the celery"? The bartender pointed to a table where you season and garnish it yourself. Now, that would be fine IF this station was supplied and maintained. They had several bottles of hot sauce that were almost empty, opened jars (like from the grocery store) with banana peppers, and assorted peppers, but most had but one or two left. NO celery, lemons, limes, olives? It was only 12:30 and  it never got renewed.

I had the Flat Iron Steak and Egg with Roasted Potatoes $13. I kid you not , thee, ONE egg (over cooked) covered the steak and potatoes. The Flat Iron steak was cut into 4 chunks and a small scoop of orange ( hot sauce) potato's was served on a white square plate. The spicy potato's dominated the meal. It was also served with White Brioche Toast aka Texas Toast.

Yikes, I sure hope this in not my last meal...

    Meh. for sure.

Most dishes left me feeling like, "This could be better with....."

Limoncello Mussels were too sickly-sweet, Watermelon Gazpacho was, well, watery. I did a wine tasting here last week and was disappointed when the Caprese Salad was a pale-pink beefsteak tomato slice with the tiniest sprig of basil, one so tiny I wouldn't have picked from my own garden.

It's also a little irksome when the waitresses are staring at the ceiling, attempting to spit out the lengthy dish descriptions.

I liked the duck, but it's not going to lure me back anytime soon.

I'm not really into writing reviews but I just have to mention how great the service was here. My family came here for Sunday brunch and to celebrate my grandma's birthday. Our waiter Neiko was extremely friendly and accommodating and honestly one of the best waiters I've had, mainly due to her great personality. My grandma just loved her. Everyone thought the food was great and loved the patio, but the 5 stars is mainly for our great waitress!

This was my first visit to the Des Peres location after dining several times downtown. While the ambiance is different in the county, the food and service were just as good as their other location.

Our group of four ate well:

    Herbed Potato Gnocchi
    Grilled Fresh Asparagus
    Pulled Korean BBQ Pork
    Compressed Watermelon & Goat Cheese
    Missouri Grassfed Tenderloin
    Maple Glazed Scallops
    Pot Stickers
    Fresh Mozzarella
    French toast bread pudding
    Trio of mini waffle cones

Everything tasted great and was gone too quickly as is usually the case when eating (and sharing) tapas. The service was excellent. Each time we finished a plate another one arrived like clockwork.

My only complaint is the noise level. It was a little difficult to hear at times. I don't recall that being a problem at the downtown location. It was still a five star experience!

Not sure is A-OK is right but more just OK.

Service was good, the food served quick and hot.  We ordered a bunch of different items but I felt overall that they were trying almost to much with different flavors and such across the menu.

Service was very good, they were quick, cheerful and welcoming.

I think I see this as more of a happy hour type place.

Came here with family to celebrate a special occasion (birthday).  Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted and seated with our choice of table inside.  They do have an outdoor seating area but a shopping plaza on Manchester Rd isn't exactly the most appealing outdoor dining location.  A small serving of crunchy thin bread sticks with a dipping sauce was brought to our table.  I was rather surprised and disappointed with this offering, I would expect fresh if not hot bread at a restaurant like Mosaic and was equally disappointed they have "Additional Bread Service $1.50" listed on the menu.

We started off with the North Africa Style Hummus ($7), Tuscan Broccoli Salad ($7.50) and Buttnernut Squash soup ($5).  The hummus and tuscan broccoli salad were both very good and came well presented.  I was underwhelmed with the butternut squash soup.  It was a little too much of the sweet side for my taste, and in hindsight I should have gone with the flight of three soups served in shot glasses to get a better variety.

For mains, we shared the Cherry Port-Braised Short Ribs ($13), Cuban Achiote Roast Chicken ($10), and Grilled Asparagus ($7).  Overall everything was well seasoned and well presented but nothing overly impressive.  The service was another underwhelming component of my experience at Mosaic.  Despite advising we were celebrating a family members birthday upon making the reservation, and reconfirmed upon seating no recognition or acknowledgement was given. At a restaurant like Mosaic, I'd expect more.

This past fall we had a family, birthday celebration dinner at Mosaic. My dilemma... 4 or 5 stars??? Ultimatley I went with 5 because the service was very good, everything I tried was above average, and the place had a nice atmosphere.

To the people that gave 2 and 3 star ratings, I don't blame you, you may have just ordered stuff on the menu that is average. As for as anyone that says they have poor service... any claim is anecdotal if based upon a single trip and doesn't necessarily signal a trend. I would need more trips here to speak on that, but my first and only visit was excellent.

My family shared a few appetizers and each person also got a couple of their own menu items. WAY too much food! After referencing the online menu, below is everything that I remember trying, all of which was awesome.

    Appetizers:

    -Compressed watermelon goat cheese
    -Ahi tuna tartate
    -Cured plate
    -Three cheeses

    Tapas:

-Pulled Korean BBQ Pork Apple -AWESOME
    -Cherry Port-Braised Short Ribs-AWESOME

We also shared a couple bottles of wine which was excellent but too much time has passed for me to remember what it was.

Every menu item I listed, which is everything I tried, was above average. Keeping that in mind, of all these above average items my least favorite would be the watermelon appetizer. I can't imagine every menu item being this exciting to me so I think I just got lucky with what was ordered.

I think I'm forgetting something else I ordered... oh yes, Jack Daniels with Coke! They have excellent Jack & Coke! :) I recommend your order several.

I met a few girlfriends here after work one day for their happy hour.  I loved the parking out front and the ambiance inside.  We were seated at a table in the back of the bar and our waitress was very sweet and attentive.  We were all given menus and I ordered a happy hour glass of Sauvignon Blanc which was delicious.  I didn't find any happy hour prices on the menu for appetizers, so I asked the waitress if they offered any.  She said they did on a special bar-bites menu and that she would bring a few over.  I would have liked to have that menu up front rather than have to ask for it.  I had friends sitting on the patio outside and they told me they never got a bar-bites menu and their waiter never mentioned it either.
I ordered their pork lettuce wraps from the bar-bites menu, they were filling (larger portioned than most of their plates surprisingly) and very good.  After enjoying that mini meal, I wanted to order something from the menu.  I was torn in-between the large cheese plate and the compressed watermellon and goat cheese salad.  The waitress recommended the salad, which I was disappointed with.  I just wish I knew how tiny it was, I was still starving after it was gone!  It was just a chunk of watermellon with a layer of goat cheese and lettuce on top with some sauce.  I wish I would have stuck with the cheese plate after all, it would have been a lot more food for about the same price.  I wouldn't have minded it my salad cost $5, but it cost me about $10 which I thought was incredibly overpriced for what I got.
As far as the rest of the food, my friends enjoyed the sliders and pretzel bites.  The waitress was nice enough to bring me a sample of their blue cheese stuffed olives that are used in the martini and they were so delicious and I always appreciate generosity from the bar.
All around, I did enjoy my visit but I would come here for happy hour to get drinks and a few small plates, I would not come very hungry.  Great atmosphere though, loved the patio as well.

Huh... I'm not sure I'll ever go back to the downtown location after visiting the Mosaic in Des Peres. Food, service, ambiance... everything was five stars. Can't beat having a huge parking lot right outside, either. I always forget how nice it is to be about to park outside the place.

Had dinner with a friend on the patio tonight and in addition to the gorgeous weather, we had the best dinner I've had in a long time. My cocktail of choice was a watermelon basil martini, and it was so fresh with just the slightest lingering of basil at the end. I was a happy camper with that, as well as with my glass of sauvignon blanc afterwards.

Here's a quick rundown of my take on our dinner items:
North African style hummus (marinated tomato/olive, crumbled feta & grilled pita bread): So good and fresh, and tons of soft pita pieces to go around.
Herbed potato gnocci (caramelized butternut squash, goat cheese, baby spinach, candied walnuts, beet chips): My favorite thing on the menu. Anything with goat cheese and butternut squash is going to win me over... this is the ultimate comfort food.
Missouri grassfed tenderloin (roasted mushrooms, wilted spinach, parslied fingerlings, blue cheese butter, merlot reduction): Also very good, reminded me of the tenderloin dish at Barcelona (which is a good thing.) Tons of spinach and the meat was cooked perfectly.
Grilled fresh asparagus (candied almonds, shaved parmesan, lemon thyme oil): Huge, fat, pieces of asparagus which I normally don't love, but these were cooked so well.
Flash-fried baby artichoke hearts (with chipotle aioli and sweet chili sauce): Just heavenly. The two sauces were perfect compliments, too.

Yes, Mosaic is a little on the pricey side, but I will say this... the portions are pretty big. Aside from the gnocci, everything was way bigger than I thought it'd be and I definitely think you get your money's worth here.

What a gorgeous dinner. This is my new Mosaic of choice!

Friend and I decided to check out the hyped happy hour---we enjoyed ourselves enough to call the husbands over to join us.  We ordered a "bar bite"---goat cheese bruschetta at a nice price.  Absolutely awesome.  I would return, just for this nibble.  Three large chunks slathered with goat cheese and a tomato-y relish was a great size for two women.  We also ordered the hummus--I don't know what they do to it, but it's my favorite in town.  When the guys arrived, we asked the bartender if we could still order the bar bites in the covered patio.  She said "yes;" waiter ended up saying "no."  But, we insisted we had the go-ahead, so the waiter checked and gave us the okay.  In the end, the only bar bite we requested was a reorder of the bruschetta.  We also added more hummus and a caesar salad.

Sangria was good, but a bit sweet.

I think I'll venture back for the happy hour again, and try a few more things.

Mosaic bills itself as a tapas/small plates restaurant with extensive happy hour specials every day of the week. I visited the Des Peres outpost today for a birthday lunch and was pleasantly surprised to see an array of traditionally lunch-ish items on the menu. With a group of eight women at the b-day lunch, I'm not sure that such a setup would have lent itself to tapas-style sharing. With the standalone lunch items, each person could order according to her own preference and everyone knew exactly what she was getting.

The menu itself was fairly easy to navigate. The lunch specials seemed geared to the traditional soups/salads/sandwiches. I was pleased to note that this restaurant offers a 1/2+1/2 combo, with a choice of either soup or salad + 1/2 of a sandwich. I was a bit disappointed to note that the sandwiches--at least the wraps--are pre-made. This came to light when one of the women at the table mentioned that she wanted the Mediterranean Chicken wrap, but without shallots. It turned out that one of the servers overheard her, and mentioned that since all of the wraps are pre-made, they cannot be customized. Since none of the soups (butternut squash, leek and potato, and curried carrot with coconut) really spoke to me, I went with the house salad. The salad was a standard offering with lettuce, shaved Parmesan, and grape tomatoes. The menu description mentioned toasted almonds; these were nowhere to be found but the salad did feature rounds of garden fresh cucumbers--always a-ok in my book. For the sandwich selection, I went with the Mediterranean Chicken. This was underwhelming, as the tzadaki sauce was overwhelming and there were only a few pieces of chicken in evidence. The lettuce greens on which the wrap was presented could have been dispensed with, as these were fairly limp. I will note that there were no such problems with the salad; the greens were crisp and the dish itself well-composed.

The presentation of the dishes overall was quite modern and fresh--think rectangular plates and Crate & Barrel-inspired china. Desserts were solid as well. The table ended up sharing two--a bread-pudding like concoction and a chocolate cake (really, more a ganache) with marshmallow creme served alongside it. Popcorn clusters with caramel also figured into the dish, though I'm not entirely sure how this added to the chocolatey goodness. The service was seamless and my water glass was always kept filled, always a plus. I will most likely not make Mosaic a regular stop--at least, not without a car service in tow so that I can parktake of their fabled, bottomless happy hours--but I enjoyed my lunch outing here.

Loved everything everytime I go!  Only been in for lunch but I've never had anything I haven't liked.  My faves are def the butternut squash soup (tastes like a toasted marshmallow!!:)) and the wraps. The drink menus have plenty for the men but have us women figured out.  So good....

A highly anticipated meal that did not come up to expectations.  The mid- day menu is drastically cut back, making "choices" difficult.  Not wanting one of several wraps on offer (and wondering how a wrap is either "modern" or "fusion") - we went with a flight of starters - their hummus (okay, honestly, 10 stars on the hummus. FABULOUS!) - "flash fried" artichoke hearts - and their pot stickers.

Okay, it was going on 3:p.m. and shifts were changing, I get that.  But once my honey got her (wonderful, rounded, very tasty glass of white Burgundy) wine, and I got my "deconstructed" Bloody Mary - also a hit and highly recommended - I noticed that my drink was missing the stuffed olive garnish.  TRY and find the/a server...  Okay, finally got that corrected, then arrives the food.

Already talked about the hummus and if you miss that you are missing a small bowl of heaven.

Flash-fried artichoke hearts are a must miss item.  Fried is correct - but if those are house-made art-hearts I'll eat this review.  Flash those right back to the kitchen, along with the out-of-a-jug sweet chili sauce. This is NOT what I was expecting from Mosaic.

Now let's talk about the "Suckling pig with shaved celery and Thai peanut sauce" pot stickers. To the server who asked me how everything was, I herby apologize for being so brutally honest when I told her "these are horrible.". I try to be more objective, and kind in my remarks.

However, whatever the unknown goo was inside those pot stickers, it was insidiously tasteless.  "Horrible" was accurate.  Just don't go there.  To the pot stickers, I mean.  Oh, and shaved celery, in my world anyway, isn't a big old celery stalk sliced lengthwise in 1/2" thick slabs and pulled out of an ice-bath several hours later.

I have heard many, many good things about Mosaic from people who know and respect great food.  Alas, our experience today will not affirm those thoughts.

What a pleasant surprise to be driving on Manchester and see a new Mosaic!  We arrived very early for lunch and were so excited to try Mosaic!  The service was great, and it's very nice, spacious, and new inside.

We split the hummus and the pot stickers.  They were both pretty good.  I ordered the butternut squash soup after the waitress recommended it but cautioned it was very sweet.  I absolutely loved it but it came out first and on an empty stomach it was hard to eat because it is so sweet.  I would recommend trying it after you've gotten something else in your stomach.

I also ordered the chopped salad.  I don't feel like the description does it great justice.  It wasn't at all what I expected, and I don't know if I didn't like it because it wasn't what I expected, or because it wasn't great.  The bacon didn't seem very cooked, there was way too much gorgonzola which nearly overtook the taste of the salad, and the peppercorn dressing just didn't seem to be the right fit for a dressing.

Our waitress was so attentive.  She wanted to make sure we were happy with everything and even brought me a ginger ale when I explained that I wasn't eating much because I wasn't feeling well.  How much sweeter can you get!?

The best part of all may have been finding out about Mosaic's happy hour!  Unless my eyes were playing tricks on me, they have happy hour from 2pm-7pm!  Ahh-mazing!  Not only do they have the longest happy hour in the history of time, but they also have so many drink specials!!  And most are $4!  I can not wait to go back and try their happy hour!

This place was fantastic!  All of the tapas dishes on the menu seemed interesting and I had a hard time choosing.  The Korean BBQ was served in an apple and was wonderful.  The lobster etouffee was wonderful too.  Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and fun.  I'm definitely going back.
