I'm actually not sure why people gave this restaurant such a low rating.

I went there for the first time a few days ago, but just to get food to go. I was greeted by the friendly waitress. We weren't sure what to order yet so she gave us more time to look at the menu. She eventually took our order.

We ordered the Penang noodles (this is very tasty!), the Thai fried rice with BBQ pork (it's alright. I've had better ones elsewhere), and the Spring rolls (they're good). What I like the most was that they used a good paper bag, gave us plastic plates, chili, and crushed red peppers as well. All were put nicely in the bag.

They may not be the best Thai restaurant I've tried but given the low food prices and there aren't really other Thai restaurants nearby, this is quite a good spot.

I haven't tried dining in there so I can't really comment on it yet. But I'll definitely come back for more. I saw they have a special dish called Pad-kapow which looks appealing. Gonna try this next.

Fairly skimpy meat portions that feature lots of fat make for avoidable steak fare. Chicken dishes seemed to have similar lack of meat, and were generally on the bland side both in taste and appearance. Pad thai looked filling - maybe that was the right dish to order.

It should be somewhat telling that at a table of three, we killed one and a half jars of sambal oelek (the spicy red sauce). Lacking in the flavor department, perhaps.

Years ago, this used to be one of my favorite restaurants but as of late, I find it a little less appealing.  Their Thai iced coffee isn't as strong, their portions aren't as large and each time I go, it seems most people order out rather than dine in so I'm often one of the few sitting in there that isn't staff!  I think I have to give them a try again to see if maybe it's better.

The food is mediocre-to-decent, but they have by far the worst service of any of the nearby restaurants.  My coworkers order from here regularly, so I sometimes order along.

We have never once gotten a complete and correct order, in literally dozens of tries.  It usually something small, they forgot the chili sauce, or the pad thai is regular instead of the spicy someone ordered, or the cucumber salad has the unwanted onions.  Sometimes they forget something completely.

Any time it is a big mistake (today we got an extra pad thai and no chicken satay), we call to have them correct it, and every time they blame it on us, saying that we ordered improperly.  Today, when I called to report that we had received an extra pad thai and no satay (the only thing i ordered for lunch!), the woman was dismissive and rude, repeatedly telling me that I didn't order satay.  She finally agreed to send the delivery man back with the satay, in exchange for the extra pad thai, but by that time everyone else had eaten.

Next time my coworkers want to order from here, I'll get a sandwich instead.

This is not the best Thai around, for sure, but it is good enough. It does the job if you work in this part of the loop.  The noodle dishes are fine for a quick lunch and they are inexpensive and filling.   I've found service in the restaurant is hit or miss. It really just depends on whether you get someone who has experience or is brand new. There seems to always be new servers.

The big plus :  even during lunchtime it is usually possible to get a table without a long wait.

It's what you would expect for Thai food. Nothing extraordinary or overly delicious, but also a safe bet and agreeable portions. Service is fast and prices won't make you run for the door. Oh, they have bubble tea, as well, so let loose a little in between classes and give it a shot.

My Thai is awesome if you want a mellow, fast service, cozy, yummy food My Thai is the place to go. Ive been a regular in My Thai for about 9 years doesnt ever dissapoint me. I recommend Cashew Chicken, Poo Thongs aka crab rangoons are very delicious, egg rolls delicious, and their fried rice. I think My Thai is good to go if you are in the downtown area.

Standard Thai place. Nothing terribly exciting. Not bad but not good either. Still, they have bubble tea. Always a plus.

My first venture into Thai food. I know, i know, what's the hold up!!! Well today i needed a pick me up so i decided to walk over and give them a try. I had the prawn rolls which are huge shrimp wrapped in celery and bacon in a spring roll wrap with a side of a sweet n spicy sauce. ...very very yummy! I also had the Pad Ki-Mao which were flat noodles, stir fry veggies, chicken and HUGE shrimp, also very tasty. They were very quick to take my order and my food didn't take long. The portions aren't huge but I didn't want to stuff my face and then have the "itis"...lol... so i'm saving the rest for dinner.

Over priced, small portions, and very rushed wait staff.  Still had food on my plate and bowl when the waitress just came by without a word and removed my bowl with no warning. Quiet, nice decor.

Quiet atmosphere, spicy curry, and reasonable price. Though not the best Thai in the world, the price is reasonably set and they use Jasmine rice. I'm looking forward to conitnuing to try new things here. They also serve Japanese cuisine.

Ugh.  This is part of the ill-famed Bermuda Triangle of restaurants downtown - a cluster of eateries of all sorts, including Sbarro's, Dunkin' Donuts and the rest, around the Harold Washington Library, all of which are designed to profit off people in a hurry, often tourists, looking for a quick and cheap bite to eat.   This is where good food, from many cuisines, goes to die.

Let's see: Service.  The poor, wee server couldn't take the two extra steps it would have taken to actually place my Salmon Teriyaki at my spot.  Oh, no.  *We* had to do that for him. This, despite the fact that the place was nearly empty - during lunch hour on a Saturday.  Yes, yes, I know: that should have been my first clue.

Food: The Salmon Teriyaki itself?  Drowning, for reasons I cannot fathom, in an of ocean of sauce - no, really, SWIMMING in so much that I couldn't see the salmon at first.  Topped, again for unfathomable reasons, with a lot of mushrooms.  I quickly rescued the wee salmon so that it wouldn't keep cooking (I like my salmon with a pink centre, but alas, this one was far gone).

I suspect the mushrooms and the salmon were on their last legs.  The salmon was fried, not broiled  The sauce was watery.  The rice, meh.  The tempura. Meh.  Tiny bit of cucumber salad. Bleh.  "The food here is really bad, and they serve such small portions" comes to mind.

The prices are cheap enough, but why has this place existed for as long as it has?

    Yet another mystery.

Don't waste your money or your time.

I like this place for the fast and tasty Thai food. The orders come unbelievably fast. The stuff is nice. I take one star off because they speak English so bad, sometimes I need to repeat my order two or three times and I can hardly understand what they are asking.

It has been quite some time since I last went to My Thai. Their curries have always been worthy of return visits. So, while I was in the area during lunch, I stopped in.

    Wow!

While they certainly did not fail with their panang curry chicken dish, the crowd was enough to add heat to the place. I take it they are still cranking out only the best from the kitchen. I also appreciate the fact that although the restaurant was crowded with the noon crowd, the food did not come to the table a few minutes after I had ordered. That meant it was cooked to order. I shall go back but after work, for sure.

Stopped in twice for lunch now, service has always been pretty quick, no complaints. Fairly friendly too. I've had their Veggie Spring Rolls, nothing out of the ordinary, but definitely enhanced by their peanut sauce. Just had the Panang Curry (Vegetarian), pretty good size for  $7.50. Might've lacked a tad of seasoning, but solid nonetheless. Made it extra spicy as I requested, which I have noticed along my travels is a rarity.  The included vegetables were all cooked properly, and the side of white rice was well-prepared. Not a huge fan of their chile oil sauce, might stick to the dried pepper flakes next time. Pretty good place to stop if you're in the mood for Thai and in the Loop.

NO FREE REFILLS on fountain sodas, I hate that.

Service was slow despite being the only guest in there!

The food was good though, I had the Onion Chicken! Mmmmm

The prices were okay considering it is the loop....no complaints there....

    I will go back....

My Thai is a nice little oasis in the loop. It was crowded, but we had no wait and the noise was not distracting as I ate.

I will go back to try more, but the Cashew Chicken was heavy on cashews and a bit light on the chicken.

Meh. I've been here a few times for lunch when we've been sick of Hot Woks, and I always wonder why we keep coming back. It's just average to below average Thai food.

As I was waiting for our food, I looked over at the next table and they were being served a mass of gloopy noodles on a plate. Not exactly appetizing, and not exactly making me look forward to my meal. We shared pad see ewe, panang noodles, and spicy fried rice family-style, and it was just... mediocre. Usually when I eat Americanised Thai, I'm still kind of a little excited about it. Where is the flavour? Where is the wok sear? Where is the OOMPH?!

Not here, apparently. But it's ok, they'll still be in business because of the convenience of the location, so I don't feel so bad writing this review.

I work by this place and I come here often enough to know which dishes are passable and which just plain suck.

    OK:

    -Grilled eggplant
    -Broccoli with Chicken
    -Oyako Don
    -Garlic Chicken
    -BBQ pork noodle soup
    -Any of the curries

    Get at your own risk:

-Satay - the meat is dry and gross, and the peanut sauce that comes with is greasy
-Any of the noodles - they all have runny, salty sauces and the noodles are mushy and greasy

Nothing here is fantastic. Everything is pretty mediocre. If you want better food and have the time, Thai Spoon down the street is a little better.

The food at My Thai is consistently pretty good.  I actually eat here pretty often because I'm too lazy to walk to another Thai place further  away.  My only real complaint is that the flavors are a bit subdued, although it's likely by necessity.  Besides that, I really like My Thai.

Usually I carry out, but I've dined in also, and the service is pretty good.  I recommend giving it a try.

Second time going here and second time it has been mediocre. I love Thai, and appreciate Thai that is made to my standards, so when I have something I don't care for it's awful. The first time I got some chicken satay and crab rangoons (now this was about a year ago). I hardly remember it, but I do recall telling myself not to come back.

Yesterday, when I friend asked me if I wanted to get Thai in between classes my immediate answer was yes. When he told me he wanted to get My Thai, I was like "Oh no!" But I was hungry, and figured if I tried an entrée it might be different. I ordered the Panang Curry. It was neither good, nor bad. It wasn't spice liked I had wanted it to be, actually there was no hint of spice at all, just a plain heaping plate of blandness.

That is my last time trying this place. The prices are enticing and the service is quick, but the food just does not live up to the standards of some of the Thai places in the area.

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! Please be aware to not anger the people at my thai in the loop campus of DePaul.  They will mess with your food.

I ordered Pad See Eiw chicken to go.  I received my order with a total of 7 pieces of chicken (size of a quarter).  Their serving(s) suggested for this entree is 2 people.  I requested more chicken and the woman acquiesced.   After she took the entree to the kitchen and returned it I opened the cover of the entree and it smelled like a homeless person*.  I returned it for a refund.  Never going again.

*No offense to the homeless people using yelp but this was the closest I can get to an accurate measure of the dish pungent smell.

So this used to be a 4 star for me, but I have reevaluated.

I am a huge Pad Thai lover, and theirs is just okay.  Not terrible, good for the price (especially in the loop).  The onion chicken is phenom.  SKIP THE crab RANGOON.  Its has waaaay too much sour cream.

Other than that, they are quick and friendly.

    at least worth a try.

    Miso soup is good too

Jeeeeez, I don't get why some of you are so harsh on this place! I, however, don't seem to mind it so much. Yes, it's not the most authentic of Pan-Asian cuisine, but I think it is pretty darn good for the location and price.

It's in the DePaul Center, so you will find a mixed crowd consisting students, faculty, staff, and even business people that work in the Loop. It's always bustling around lunchtime, but seems to die down a lot towards the late afternoon, so I wouldn't recommend it for dinner. The service has been pretty consistent every time I have dined in, and the food comes out really fast (which is good when you're in a hurry). There were a few times when the servers got my orders mixed up with other tables, but that only happened when they were really busy, so I forgave :)

For the most part though, I usually get the take-out. I have been ordering from there for about a year now, and it literally only takes them 10 to make my food! It's unbelievableee. Some of my favorite dishes are the Crab Rangoon, Chicken Pad Thai, Pad Ki Mao, Panang Curry w/Beef, and the Panang Noodles...YUMM!

Don't get scared off by some of these reviews! My Thai has its flaws, but is just fine for the most part!

The customer service is lacking big time. I hate to blame the language barrier, but that is a huge problem here. As well as attention to detail, like um, getting me a damn drink. I hate when servers disappear because you're entire party has yet to arrive. How about a thai iced tea? No? Oh Ok I'll sit here and die of thirst!

The food was nothing memorable. It was bland and not very flavorful. DId I mention it appeared to us in less than five minutes after being ordered? The dead empty dining room should have been my red flag!

    I will not be back...

My only experience was an order to-go (Basil Chicken and Spring Rolls) that was served really fast and was pretty tasty.

But, there wasn't anything that really stood out one way or the other. I think this is a safe bet. Who knows, perhaps a few more times here and I may change my rating.

I wish I could give it a zero star, but Yelp unfortunately won't allow that.

It is the worst humiliating Thai food I have ever tried in my life. What is this? This is the most gruesome food I can't even call it a dish anymore. They make Thai food look inedible. I got traditional tom yum soup since it's so basic thai you can't mess it up (I thought) and my friend got chicken noodles. Let's start with the soup.

The food came out within 30 seconds. Obviously their microwaves are better than mine, and probably they don't own a stove at the restaurant.

The broth tasted 5 days old, from a can. Even the chili used wasn't fresh (yes, I can taste the different). And the green bell peppers were so crunchy and so not integrated into the soup. They just stacked them on top AFTER microwaving the soup. I can't believe that tiny portion was already $5. That's expensive. You're better off going to Chinatown for asian food for a much better quality, service, cleanliness and price.

As for service, they wanted us out of there as quickly as possible (they gave us the bill right away). and the waitresses' English was really hard to understand, which, no big deal, but at least train them to understand US!

My friend's dish was composed of 2 ingredients: salt and sugar. Oh, and was chicken + noodle even a part of it?? There was barely any noodles in there, and the chicken was over cooked. Any americanized asian dish is going to be cut down into the 2 taste buds of sweetness and saltiness, and there was no flavor. (Yes, saltiness and sweetness is not flavor, not for me anyways).

The tables felt greasy and the atmosphere felt worse than my high school cafeteria.

Do me a favor and don't go there. PLEASE.

One of my go-to places for lunch.  It can be crowded at noon, but by one the crowd has thinned out considerably.  Service is unbelievably fast and friendly but not obtrusive at all.  I'm usually in and out in 35-40 minutes.

There are not many vegetarian entrees listed on the menu, but they're very accommodating and can turn almost anything into a vegetarian dish.  Portion size is perfect, and the food isn't too spicy (good for me since I'm supposed to avoid spicy foods). I tend to alternate between the mild curry, the dish with the cellophane noodles, and pad thai (which is very tangy and citrusy), but the panang curry is good too.  I usually pay less than $10 after tip.

Maybe not as good as Siam Rice, but fast and convenient.

This is just another Thai restaurant to me. Nothing special, just a little bit below average with the food. One thing I noticed is that they try to kick you out pretty fast so they can seat more people during lunch. That's understandable since it's a business, but doesn't make me feel good being rushed.

One thing nice about this place is the location. It's close to work and I have a few options for dessert at the DePaul Center. The big windows are pretty nice to get lots of light in, but that doesn't deserve any extra stars.

Nice spot for a lunch break. Nice location with big windows to bring in the natural light or to people watch. Reasonable prices for good portions and fast fast service. The food is fresh but pretty average. I ordered the pad kee mao--according to the menu is supposed to be spicy, but I found it very mild and a little bland. Adding some of the sweet chili sauce added the needed heat and some flavor. The veggies in the dish were cooked just right--crisp tender and there was a generous amount of chicken and a few shrimp. Nice size for a lunch portion for one person even with my lunch buddies snagging a few bites.

The pad thai was ok as well, nothing too special and not the best I've had. The noodles were cooked well and not overdone, just not enough flavor to it either. Shrimp fried rice was good--not too greasy and well cooked. One person in our group ordered the garlic shrimp which was more garlic carrots and peapods as there were only a few shrimp in his order. The Thai iced coffee was good. Very strong coffee flavor but lacking a little bit of the sweetness that I love about Thai iced coffee.

Just a side note: this place is definitely not kid friendly. So if you've got tots in tow, think twice before coming here. Maybe after the lunch crowd thins out, but what we discovered is that they only have 1 high-chair and aren't very keen on rearranging seats to accommodate a group with little ones.

We ate here on a whim after picking up the first restaurant google could find in the area, and I really must say I wish I did some research instead.

It isn't very often that I abandon my main course after two bites AND the appetizers as well, but I did so here. We shared fried tofu and stuffed chicken wings, and of the two, the wings were the bearable ones, but tasted very bland. The tofu was very, very plain. Literally fried tofu with nothing added for taste, unless you count the dip.

Then for my main course, I had beef lard nar (sp?). The first bite was simply nasty, the beef tasted funky, the vegetables bitter, and the noodles tasted of both. I asked my girlfriend, a Thai food fanatic, what she thought of it, and she admitted it tasted weird, and the beef tasted like cheap beef nearing its expiration.

I took a second bite hoping to change my mind. It didn't. So I returned to eating tofu and wings, before getting bored with the flavorless taste. My girlfriend disliked the tofu, thought the wings were 'meh', and didn't care too much for her noodles.

Service-wise, it's a decent enough place I guess. They were attentive enough to refill our glasses, but seemed rushed for time and skipped pleasantries all together, despite the place being near deserted. Still, the waitress was nice enough to run after us when I had left my shopping bag behind by accident.

Still, I found it a bit strange that the waitress didn't bother to ask, or for that matter, didn't seem surprised at all when she cleared our plates away, and saw that I clearly hadn't really touched my entree, not even asking if I wanted the leftovers. Not that I would have taken up that offer, but it made me wonder if she was accustomed to seeing customers not really touch their meals?

Decor-wise, it was as bland and sterile as a McDonalds, with barely any effort inside the restaurant made to help reflect any kind of personality. The only 'decor' (so to speak) that I noticed in the restaurant was ironically a window mural, obviously meant not for diners, but for potential diners.

Honestly, you know you can judge what kind of a restaurant this is when it's called 'My Thai', yet serves Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food. The phrase 'jack of all trades, master of none' comes to mind. It reminded me of Noodles and Company, and made no pretensions to hide what it was.

This is a perfectly decent choice for Thai food in the Loop. The service is usually quick, and the prices are right. The food is pretty good, if a touch on the bland side; fortunately they have hot sauce to help with that. It's not my favorite Thai place, but it's a solid option and I usually go here about once a month with a friend. It does get pretty busy at lunch, so I always try to go a bit early and never have to wait for a table. The service isn't the most attentive or friendliest. It's not unfriendly per se, just brisk and businesslike. You may not hear from your server from the time you get your food until you get the check, unless you try to get her attention.

Fine dining this ain't, but it is a quick, inexpensive and satisfying spot for lunch in the Loop.

I work downtown and this a great lunch Thai place.

The Tom Kha soup is great with vegetables because they're always fresh and crisp.

The Shrimp Pad Thai is very tasty and the shrimp are large and there are enough of them for the dish. You can add spice to taste as sliced peppers and hot chili are available on the table.

I order the same thing every time I go here -- the lad nah with chicken.  It's not great, but I like it enough to repeatedly order it.  I wish their noodles were crispy (the way every other Thai place I've been to has served it) rather than completely soggy and... well... noodly.

The food's not great or particularly original or innovative.  It's pretty standard, bland Thai food.  But the service is very quick, and the place is in a convenient location, so even though I could probably look a little harder for better food.... face it, I probably won't.

Signs of lunch places near finance/gov't districts:

decor is upscale when compared to what they actually serve
presentation is good but food is just ok
    menu is nice and clean
    lunch prices are reasonable
    table settings are clean
    "ethnic" places are "west" friendly
    lots of healthy options
and main factor: EMPTY AT DINNER TIME AND WEEKENDS!

    Food- ok
Service- too busy eating their own lunch
Price- what you get in financial district
    Decor- clean

will I go back? yes, but just cuz it's right across from the park

I am mystified by the plaque hanging on the wall by the counter boasting some manufactured accolade.  It's not the Trib or Zagat or (even) Yelp, but there's apparently a company that votes on the best Thai restaurants in the country, and they count MY THAI as one of them.  They are wrong, wrong, wrong.

But when it's 20 degrees outside with a -30 wind chill, I'll take it.

I avoided it despite its convenient location for a long time, after a bad pad thai experience.  If you screw up pad thai, you have no business running a Thai restaurant.  After a long boycott, however, I found that their red curry is actually quite palatable, and their Vegetable spring rolls are actually really good.

Note:  The VEGETABLE spring rolls are the fresh, Vietnamese style spring rolls, and yes, they are really good.  Their regular spring rolls with tofu are the crappy little rolls cut into six pieces, and those should be avoided.

This place should be called "Standard Thai Restaurant".  It's Thai food...it works and it can provide me with my red curry fix when needed. Although pretty typical, it being in my work neighborhood is appreciated.  The South Loop is full of chains and old school sit down restaurants (aka Miller Pub and Cavanaugh's).  It nice to have something different around the corner.

But beware of the many stipulations to eat at this restaurant.  Oh but don't worry if you forget; they have a million signs hanging of all the rules "No separate checks", "No outside Food", "No half-orders." Chill out with the signs My Thai.

My Thai happens to be one of two thai spots in the Loop, so along w/ Siam Rice, they pretty much have the entire market dominated w/o a whole lot of competition.  That being said, despite the negative reviews, I actually think My Thai is pretty decent.

The menu is quite expansive and incredibly affordable w/ virtually nothing being over $7.  I love the selection of noodles (try the pad see eiw, pad kimao, and panang noodle).  Their curries are pretty decent, I typically tend to go for panang or mussman (which has potatoes and peanuts), and all of the entrees include jasmine rice which is a plus.  For the curry lovers, you MUST try the curry fried rice...it's super delicious!

I've never had a problem w/ service and even during the lunch hour rush have been seated fairly promptly and received my food in a relatively short time.  Overall I definitely like the food quality better at Siam Rice, and certainly there are better Thai retsaurants outside of the Loop, but it's totally worth a shot coming here for lunch!

I'm not sure what all these bad reviews are for.
Thai is my fav type of food, and I've had it up and down the city...
My Thai fares well! Rama is my favorite- and they do it right here!

    the GROUP EXPERIENCE:
14 people from my graduate school class bombarded My Thai on Friday during our lunch hour and

    1. they seated us all together! yes, all 14 of us!
    2. they took our orders and served us FAST, so FAST!
    3. the consensus was Delicious! even for the peeps new to Thai.
    4. no orders were messed up.

The only issue was, they can only split the check twice, so it's important to bring cash if you're in a big group. that's all!

I say, give it a try! They're fast and good. Yum!

I didn't think this place was so bad. Obviously it's not the best Thai food I've ever had, but when you're at the DePaul Loop campus and you want Thai food, it gets the job done. Plus, it's cheap and fast.

We had the chicken satay appetizer, which was probably my least favorite part of the meal, but it was decent. Good peanut sauce. Then we shared the mild chicken curry (yum, but the potatoes in it were blah and the rice was sort of stiff) and the pad see ew (pretty tasty).

Like I said... as long as you know what you're getting, it's a good deal.
