This was our first time here, right down the street from our place. The food was delicious and extremely fast.  Great prices and really fresh fish! There aren't any patrons in it yet because its new but don't let that intimidate you - stop in!

We have only ordered delivery for Nano Sushi but each time we are disappointed.  The first time, we received our food over an hour late and the delivery driver was slovenly, rude and unapolegetic. By time we received our food, it was really cold so we couldn't tell the quality of the sushi.

Due to the fact that they are so close to us, we decided to give them another try.  Second time, we received our food and we were disappointed again.  Its just not good sushi.  Dry, not quality ingredients, rice was crunchy, etc.  We ordered 5 different rolls and we didn't like any of them.

We have since decided against ordering from them again.

I don't think I'd eat there usually but the lunch special was too good to resist. I got the shrimp tempura roll and a california roll, plus miso soup, plus seaweed salad for ~ $10, not bad. Be warned though, while this is pretty cheap, the serving sizes seemed very small, and it was nothing special. A quick sushi break for 10 bucks near lunch though, down the block? Kind of tempting.

Nano sushi is literally blocks from my apartment in Lake View. When I first moved into the neighborhood, I took my Mother there because she helped me move-in. The tuna tartare was fabulous, but the service was slow.

Recently, I decided to get delivery from there. I had had a bad day, so when they told me the wait would be 45 minutes, I was a little upset but said to myself, "great sushi takes time to be made." Well, over 90 minutes later you can bet I was a lot more peeved when my sushi still had not arrived. I had called about an hour into waiting, and they said it was on it's way. Remember, I live only 4 blocks from the restaurant. I could have walked there, picked it up, and walked home and eaten it in the 30 minutes it then took them to deliver my order.

Overall the food tasted pretty good, the portion of my roll was small for $12, and the service was very poor. Don't order delivery from Nano Sushi!!!

My husband and I love our sushi! We return to Nano time and time again because the service is great, the fish is fresh and the rolls are creative and delicious! We highly recommend this BYOB gem!

We walked in at 7:30 pm on a Friday and the place was almost completely empty. Ordered 4 rolls - seemed comparably priced to other places in the area, but the rolls were about 3/4 the size we are used to (6 pcs each instead of 8 - similar size pieces.) The rolls themselves were just OK - I've had many better, and a few worse. Would maybe have given 3 stars for the food quality, but the service was terrible. Waitress never checked on us during the meal, and after we asked for the check, it took almost 15 minutes to get it - keep in mind we were the only people in the restaurant by that time. Wouldn't go back, can get better sushi for the same price elsewhere in the area.

I was already a fan of the location on Halsted when a friend of mine asked me to meet him here for lunch so I jumped at the chance.  I do love sushi.

I see the mixed reviews, but all in all we had a great time.  Granted, it was for lunch, so it was fairly quiet, just a couple of tables, so the service was good.  Yes, the shape of the place is weird with an L shape and no one was in the front, but they seem to do well with what they have to work with.

My friend order a heatwave which came out on a plate of fire! I kid you not! WOW!  They put the sushi roll on its own plate and that plate in the center of a larger plate.  Then around the center place load it up with salt, douse it with vodka, and set it afire!  WOW!  I should have snapped a photo - next time.

I was very happy with my mini Godzilla roll.  We had some business to discuss and the waiter kept our water filled.  I was very happy with this place.  We have decided to hold our weekly meeting here and I am happy to do so!

I will state that the area is just so-so.  Its next to GameStop and hard to spot on first glance.  But give the place a chance!

Awful sushi, fish was not fresh.  Giving 2 stars because it is walking distance from place and wait staff was very friendly.

The food was bad, our server was worse.  There are probably 15 other sushi places worth going before here.

Having seen at least one other restaurant fail in this location, I was curious and slightly hopeful that a sushi place would be tasty and do well, especially since it is right down the friggen block from me.

    Nope.

Sorry -- the ambiance reminds me of a skateboard I spray-painted (not poorly, but not expertly either) in the late 80's. Black and red? Like some Air Jordans remixed with a bordello...

Bigger than expected inside, but an awkward "L" shape -- I felt cramped even though there were (plenty) of empty tables around us.

The sushi was fair. I've had worse, but when I had worse, I also spent the night introducing my bathroom porcelain to my sushi selections.  I've had WAY better. Yeah. And the sushi chefs aren't really, uh, authentic. I think they found some line cooks from Zesty Bites (the place before Nano) and taught them to make loose, crummy sushi. At least I didn't vomit after eating there.

Seriously -- it was mediocre sushi at best, and frankly, I don't even care that it was "decently priced." Or even "over-priced for what you get." It was blah. I'd rather pay a bit more for better sushi. Or find a better place with similar prices, like Jai-Yen, a few blocks south.

I really rooted for the brave souls who took the odd corner-ish location where Nano is, but after giving them a try, I think it is best to let them fade out (sooner rather than later) to be replaced by something else (that is better, fingers crossed).

    Avoid it. Go elsewhere.

I'm really glad this place opened up a block from our place and replaced the really odd Baja Mediterranean fusion place.  The sushi is always fresh and tasty.  There aren't a ton of creative rolls but everything they have is tasty and well priced.  And BYOB is always a nice money saver.  The seating arrangement in the front is a little odd with four round couples booths.  I suggest asking for a seat in the back which seems like a much better atmosphere.  All in all a no frills, quality, fresh  sushi place.

Really wanted this place to be good.  I was very disappointed in the taste and quality of the food.  First off, I wanted a spicy tuna roll freshly made, which they could not do but assured me it was fresh that day.  I have spoken to many good sushi chefs and one thing is for sure, there is no tuna that should be pre-mixed earlier in the day.  Each roll should be prepared to order.  Many of the chefs also tell me that if a restaurant does premix the spicy tuna then they are trying to cut cost and could be using what is known as tuna scrapings (basically the unwanted fat gristle and tasteless part of the fish usually thrown away.)  but as this was a local place I really wanted to trust them and like the food.  Big mistake, it really had no flavor and did not taste fresh. Lesson learned.

I also had a seafood soup which was not enable at all.

Nice to see Nano join the neighborhood ~ great addition and consistently good food.  This location is not an easy one and Nano makes the block better.  Welcome, Nano!

After being based in LA for years, I was scared of Chicago sushi. I finally found a great place in Nano Sushi. The sushi is always fresh, even on Sundays. It's good enough that I go in once a week and get delivery twice a week. The waitress I always have is incredible and always super sweet.

I was happy and recommended to many friends...until today. I ordered sushi and added on the free California roll, like I always do. When my sushi arrived, there was no California roll. I called the delivery girl to complain and she immediately got defensive. She said it wasn't on the order. She offered to give me a credit for the roll the next time...which makes no sense since it's a free roll after $20.

I asked for them to bring it and she put up a fight! She said, multiple times, that she would have to send another delivery person out and it would cost them $3.00. Honestly, I don't care because I just want my food...and I would think that $3.00 was a small price to pay for a frequent customer. The person I spoke to at the location told me that she would bring me the roll, after I put up a fight, and that she'd bring me the paper to prove that it wasn't on there. At that point, I was done. I don't need to be guilted when I'm only asking for something I ordered. Honestly, I don't care. I'll order from one of the other locations next time and hopefully experience better service...because their sushi is really good.

I thought they would bring the roll after I got upset, but apparently customer satisfaction isn't as important as having their delivery person walk three blocks to my apartment.
4 and a half stars for the sushi.
5 stars for the service when I'm eating there.
    1 star for delivery.

Finally a restaurant that appears to have staying power in this location. Neighborhood dwellers will recall that this was an awful mexican restaurant and then a mexican/mediterranean spot that was just as bad. The decor is awful, but whatever, it's next to a currency exchange.

Try the Salmon Sunshine ($12); Crunchy Spicy Tuna ($6) or the Seattle Roll. ($7). Wonder why I didn't get free warm edamame? BYOB and like that there is no cork fee too. Worth going to and nice additional to an otherwise shitty corner in my hood.

Yummy and super fast pick-up service! The ambiance looked nice and hip, but I was in a sitting home in my PJs kind of mood so I ordered (online) and picked it up...very quick and convenient!

Four stars? Who is fudging these reviews? I was very unhappy with our experience.

    1. The place was FREEZING cold. My boyfriend had to go fetch his winter jacket out of the car for me to wear.
    2. The seating is super uncomfortable -- very stiff/upright and not the least bit soft.
    3. Ambiance sucks. It's right on Broadway and they didn't cover the windows at all so it feels like you're in a strangely upscale diner that sells cold fish.
    4. The food is not great, it's not even good. This is the most bland sushi I've ever had. Given it's complete lack of flavor, it is also incredibly overpriced.

The food and service were great. My dining partner said the crab Rangoon was some of the best he's ever had. I thought it was ok. The only sticking point was the round booth we sat in--it was too small to sit in comfortably. Maybe that's why it's called "Nano."

This place opened up a few blocks from where we live.  We haven't had a good sushi place in the neighborhood since Sanko on Clark St. closed.  We came here a few weeks ago and then returned last week and just loved it.  Nothing wrong with this place at all.  To start, do not miss the side salad.  It's a simple green salad with shaved carrots but they add shaved beets which make it out of this world.  And the best ginger dressing I've had at a sushi restaurant.

Have had the spider maki, the sweet potato tempura, the squash tempura (do not miss this), the california maki and everything has been great.  I want everyone to know about this place and to go here.  They are still trying to get people aware of them and get business and I'd hate to see this place die out.

    Go, go, go, go, go!

This sushi place just opened up a couple weeks ago and my boyfriend and I went to check it out. It's a small restaurant (but not as small as it looks from the outside!) but it has a classy atmosphere.

I ordered the California Maki, boyfriend ordered the Chicago and New York Maki, and we also got an order of crab rangoons and an order of pork gyoza. The crab rangoons were AMAZING. Everyone should get them.

All in all, good prices, good service, no complaints. I'll definitely be going back. Also, this place does take out and is BYOB. More good things!

This is a cute place and new to the neighborhood and it is not quite in Uptown, rather East Lakeview.  I think it has some kinks to work out.  My soup came hot, the spicy seafood and my husbands came lukewarm, the miso.  Our first cup of tea was the same way, mine hot, his lukewarm.  The rolls were pretty good, we ordered some of our standards so we could compare.  Both the wasabi and the rice on some of the rolls were a bit dry.  My favorite roll was the Chicago roll.  Our service was also a bit lukewarm.  We did not receive the free edamame like the first three reviewers.  We will give them another shot because they just opened but they are not likely to replace our neighborhood favorite.

I came here with a friend on a Monday afternoon.

I ordered the volcano roll and it was literally on fire!

The server gave us free edamame on the house as well!

The atmosphere was great and friendly along with nice decor.

Amazing little place! Just opened up close by.

Some of the best sushi I've ever had.

Highly recommend the sweet potato tempura. Best I've ever had.

Also, the Mini Godzilla roll was amazing.

Waitress also gave us free hot edamame on the house!

Definitely an amazing place. It's going to be very popular, very fast.

The quality of the food matches the price. You are actually getting a bargain for the quality of the rolls.

Great place to go on a date or out with friends. Nice decor, very lounge-like.

Go here for your next sushi outing!! You won't regret it :)
