I'd never been to this place before, but was looking for a chill hookah spot. This place almost got it right. The name got me excited (nargile being a bit more authentic word for hookah) and the relaxed seating was great, but that was pretty much where it ended. So, one star is for the fact that they are serious about checking IDs...I respect that. The other is for the delicious pot of Persian tea that was only $1 and the free additions of juice instead of water in the hookah.
For the negatives: My idea of a chill hookah-smoking atmosphere is not where the music is a barrage of uber-loud, profanity-filled music. That music's perfect for a dance club. Grind away, but please do it somewhere else. There was also a tv right in in the center of the room playing a super random movie...weird. On top of that, the hookah was just ok...not super flavorful. Also, they don't give you tongs with your hookah, so you have to wait for them to come around to adjust the coals. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if they came around more often...we had to get up a couple of times just to find someone to help us.
I think they could really benefit from more staff, or simply more helpful staff, and a slight adjustment in music. Maybe something Middle Eastern?
My fourth hookah bar that I have ever been to. I will stop counting at five if any of you are wondering.
Narghile Nights might be the hookah bar I like best in town out of the two. The place isn't huge but it is big enough where you can nestle yourself in a corner and zone out while sucking on your hookah pipe. The place looks to be in an old house so it can get loud if lots of people are there at once because of the acoustics. The service is attentive and someone always comes at an appropriate cue to turn the coals. The hookah tastes great, albiet not the best I've ever had. I got the minty melon combination and at the suggestion of adding a third flavor from the staff person, a orange or Mandarin flavor which was a very nice touch. The place is relatively inexpensive too for getting hookah. It was about nine bucks. That is the cheapest hookah I've had other than when I smoked it for free at a friends house!
up until about a year ago when i moved from fort collins, i spent a lot of time at narghile. The staff, atmosphere, and smoke were all excelent. im back now for a visit, and i must say the place has gone downhill. it seems severely understaffed these days - it took about 25 minutes for our hookah to arrive - and the staff they do have seem less friendly, probably due to the stress caused by lack of staff. the quality of the smoke seems to be lessened as well. my smoke had a musty feel to it, and somewhat of a chemical aroma. the place seems much busier these days, which from a business standpoint is a plus, from my perspective though, it is deffinitely a negative. the crowd is deffinitely more mainstream now - frat guys listening to top 40 hits - not to mention the heat. with the lack of air conditioning it felt like a summer day in houston. this all seems to be the price of their success, and i hope they can come back down to earth.
