New Furama Restaurant

Easy and free parking. Tables easily available. Staff is nicer than what you'd expect at a dim sum place - pardon the bigotry.  More variety than most places, including many sweet/dessert options.  Decent quality food that seemed very fresh.  Price is right for the meal.  I'm defn going back

So I had a bit of an odd experience here - my friend visited from out of town and wanted to have some dim sum, but in the evening on a Sunday rather than a more normal time. Surveying my options through friends and on Yelp, I came up with this place and we arrived at about 7PM.

The place is huge and seats about 400, but when we walked in there was one table of employees just hanging out and one table of customers, a number of elderly Chinese people who didn't seem to be actually eating anything. Sometimes eating at a small cozy place with few other diners can be nice, but in a cavernous place like that in the middle of December I felt like I had stumbled onto some David Lynch remake of The Shining. . .

We asked for their dim sum menu and the good news was that it was available. However, my friend and I are in that middle ground where we can identify our favorite foods on the cart by sight, but a written menu is not of much help: do I want to order the "Turnip Patties w/ X.O. Sauce"? Hmm. . .

We played it rather safe in our orders (also because there were no prices next to each item), and what came out of the kitchen was admittedly fairly good. And, you probably won't be surprised to hear that the service was fast and attentive. However, between the empty restaurant and the lack of a dim sum cart, we certainly didn't get what we came in for. I would happily come back here during the lunch/brunch times for a full-on dim sum experience, but I would advise you to be wary of coming in off-peak times.

My family use to come here for dim sum before because it was convenient to find parking. They have their own parking lot, which expanded, and parking is free. Other than that, there is not much to say about this place. The dim sum is pretty bad and at best, okay...
