A few of my buddies and I stopped into this place the day it opened up. Even though we were the only people in and it was still under development, It was hard not to notice the drastic change of the once WC Murphys. Both of the owners are extremely nice guys and the bartenders are quite attentive. The draft beer is always clean, crisp and COLD!
Now, about the food. I've eaten hear on many occasions and was only disappointed once. Let me clear one thing up though, the wings here are absolutely amazing. I find myself thinking about them throughout my day sometimes (I'm a crazed wing freak, I know). The first time I ordered the steak, absolutely amazing. The second time...meh....totally pink in the middle, but shit happens. I haven't seen the young kid who couldn't cook my steak again, so hopefully they got rid of him.
So about why I had to deduct a star. They have two, fine red felt pool tables with a large amount of shooting room. A few of my friends and I are avid pool players, and we take it very seriously the more drinks we get in us. Unfortunately, the pool sticks here suck. They are cheap, bent and just flat out low quality. I find myself wanting to go to this place to shoot pool all night, but then I have to remind myself that not only are the sticks terrible, there is no hand chalk! I know I sound a little picky, but when you like to competitively play pool, these things are huge factors. If they decided to upgrade their billiard accessories, I'd find myself coming here a lot more often.
All in all, this place is great. I love bringing my girlfriend here to eat and there's no Delco assholes that congregate here.
I've never had the food here, so I'm not reviewing on that. Anyway, we went here one night after work to have some drinks and have fun. Unfortunately, the drinks were horrible and the fun was minimal. I was ordering drinks that the bartenders clearly didn't know how to make because my drinks jsut tasted like sour mix and coke. yuck. The bartenders were very nice but getting their attention was almost impossible. It took about 20 minutes to get my first drink and it wasn't even that busy. I probably won't go here again for drinks, but maybe I'll return to try the food.
Review Source:I've been bad! Â As a supporter of all things Havertown I've neglected to write a review of these folks. Â They've been open about six months now.
I've been here a few times on various days of the week and different times. Â My most recent visit was yesterday afternoon when I sat at the bar and chatted with the owner Matt who was also my chef for a late lunch.
If you are not from the area, this is a second floor bar/restaurant between the McDonald's and Starbucks. Â Parking is a little strange but easy once you figure it out. Â Allow me to help. Â Pull into MickyD's. Â As you go into their lot you'll see a nice sized lot to your right. Â Park there and you are a one minute walk to 19's door.
So climb the wide stairway up to the second floor. Â Keep in mind that you'll be going down again after a few drinks and most people prefer to do that on their feet as opposed to bouncing down on their butt!
These folks are essentially one large room. Â The bar is good sized and comfortable. Â The liquor selection is extensive and the beer choices are just fine. Â I believe they have about eight (8) taps. Â If you are a craft beer aficionado you won't find unusual selections here but most folks will be easily satisfied. Â If pool is your game there are several tables here.
The menu is short but solid. Â You can get anything from Chicken Wings, interesting Flat Breads or even a 9 oz. Sirloin Steak. Â Yesterday I choose the California Chicken Sandwich. Â We're talking grilled chicken, avocado, bacon, and provolone on an excellent roll. It cost about $10. Â It was very good and came with excellent fresh-cut fries. Â I really appreciated those fries. Â I'm done with frozen fries poured out of a bag. Â Matt has done the right thing and gone to the extra effort to make his own fries and I'm betting I'm not the only one who will like them.
As with many bar/restaurants the crowd here can change dramatically based on the day and time. Â It can be crowded and loud and young with music blasting and at those times it's not for me. Â At other times the crowd will be a mix of ages and the atmosphere quieter. Â That's perfect for me. Â Yesterday I had a 4 star experience.
