our first time at Nola & we're delighted we went!   We were very discriminating about our choice of restaurants in the Westport/Norwalk area as it was a special birthday celebration.  Looking for fresh & healthy seafood & vegetables, we were not disappointed.   We felt as if we were in So HO rather than So NO.  Excellent service & an an interesting & delicious meal.  Our compliments to the chef!

Ate dinner after seeing reviews , was offered happy hour bar prices even tho seated & not at bar . Husb had fresh raw oysters , said not bad . I had mixed green salad w strawberries , plums & grapefruit . That was delicious . Ordered small plates , blackened shrimp & fried oysters , not bad , small  for price & quantity . Not sure I'd go again , service was ok , not outstanding .

Food is absolutely amazing.  Try the burger.  It was quite honestly the best burger I have ever had.  The lobster and waffles got us hooked the first time we went there and we've never had a bad meal or drink since.  Their bartenders are top notch and the beverages are delicious.  They've got things that appeal to all tastes.  Great place to go for dinner, drinks or both.  (Sidenote - this is big for my girlfriend - they play "amazing" music!)

Overpriced, poor service ..... And oh yeah... A $31 " New York Strip" that was clearly a different cut of meat.  Are these guys serious?!!! The plate was so greasy it nauseated us and when we approached one of the owners he said " Thank You". How arrogant.  We will not be back.

Great experience here during restaurant week with the family. Excellent service and a great meal. The clam pouting was something my daughter would go back for any day, and my son loved their burger. Crawfish were nice and spicy and a fun find in FF county. Great beer selection as well.

For an "Oyster Bar", the selection of oysters was slim and all east coast.

For New Orlean's style food, the selection was slim and not spicy enough (ie: all east coast).

Service was good, the waitress knew the menu and attempted to accomodate.  It was just a disappointing menu.

Bring on the fried chicken, shrimp and grits, gumbo, jambalaya and oysters from all over.

If you had an oyster platter with a variety of regions paired with good sparkling wine, preferably not just a french option or prosecco, I'd love to come back.

Location is perfect and the pricing seemed fine.

Still delicious! Stopped in for a cocktail and dinner on a rainy night and ordered crayfish sandwich and lobster cornbread waffle. Excellent presentation and delicious food. Waitstaff is very helpful and friendly and they remember you. Manager came out and made rounds which is great and gives opportunity to ask questions or share your experience. Great place for group happy hour plenty of room and delicious small plates.

It looks like I will be the first drinks-only review.. Which might say something about how I spend my after work time.

But.. I really did like Nola for a bar. It was very urban with some eclectic decor.  Big banquet tables in the bar which worked well for our group.  Nice wine list.. But more importantly some very unique beers on tap (Green Flash!).

Next time, I'll have some food to go with the drinks.

What a disappointment! I feel that this place has a lot of potential but still needs to work out a ton of kinks.

First off, they are apparently short staffed and are pulling servers from their sister restaurants (SBC). On a Saturday night, for a party of 20, split into two groups, our server, though very pleasant, was on her first night there and knew NOTHING about the food. Also, there were food runners that didn't know their table numbers - completely UNACCEPTABLE for a Saturday night. One of the food runners was cocky and spoke back to my party and said "Oh no, I'm right." If you don't know how to speak to customers, don't work in the food or retail industry. Just don't.

Now from terrible service, we move on to the food. We'll start with the bread - it could've broken a tooth. And was served by itself - no butter, no oil, nothing.
Then they list the appetizers on the menu as "not so small plates". Don't kid yourself - they're appetizer portions. They're small and WAY too overpriced. Don't you think you can cut down your prices if you reexamined your food cost? WHY do you have both Tasso and Speck on the menu? Who are you trying to impress? I think it's foolish and would be more impressed with better prices.

For appetizers, I ordered the Roasted Oysters - the flavor was there but those breadcrumbs were horrible. They were so large and hard that I wasn't sure if I was chewing breadcrumbs or actual shell. It ruined the sweet smooth oysters. Others in my party enjoyed the lobster waffle, however, it was a small plate and some ordered it just for dinner and were disappointed at the portion size. And finally dinner. I ordered the chicken. I substituted the fried brussel sprouts for the potatoes but wanted to keep the cheddar broccoli. Well they screwed that up and forgot the cheddar broccoli - however, they did me a favor, because once they bought it out to me on the side, it was a sloppy, ugly mess of overcooked broccoli in a white runny, not even cheesy, sauce. Gross. The chicken was cooked correctly and the brussel sprouts were crisp. However, my food was SO salty it was nearly inedible. Upon asking the other people in my party, their food was over salted as well. Are you finishing your sauces with salted butter? Or are you just over salting? There is NO excuse for this. I'd rather have an under seasoned meal and add my own - you can't take away the salt. Terrible.

Needless to say, until they can control their staff and their seasoning, I will NOT be back.

The food was really good.  Lobster with corn meal waffle, burger with bacon and more, chicken.  All excellent.  Perfectly prepared   Dessert was corn meal bread pudding with caramel and that was best of all  Fries were not so good though. Drinks only ok. Service quite efficient and friendly despite restaurant being full.  Worth the visit.  We'll go back.

Got scallops and trout - both were soaked in butter, even when we requested to not add any butter to the trout entree. The oysters were just ok, nothing special. There weren't even that many people there the night we went, but our waiter forgot about us often. The bar itself looks nice, maybe it's better for drinks.

I'm going to echo the previous reviewer and say that I was shocked by how good the food was here.

Clam poutine: Really good fries with clam-infused melted cheese. These were ridiculous, definitely must get.

Fried brussel sprouts: These were a recent addition to the menu, and they were also amazingly good. Essentially fried brussel sprouts with maple syrup and bacon. Definitely as good as any brussel sprouts I've ever had.

Mussels: Also extremely good, and I tend to be very picky about mussels. The mussels themselves were fresh and tasty, and the sauce was great also.

Lobster waffles: Lobster as good as Abbott's, and paired perfectly with the cornbread waffle. It comes drenched in a ridiculous amount of heavy sauce and it was a bit more expensive than the other small plates, but definitely worth trying once.

Kale salad: Very good. This was basically a kale salad with kale, pear, pumpkin, and some sort of seeds. I enjoyed it a lot, though I might try a different salad next time if only for the sake of variety.

Roasted oysters: This is the one dish I wouldn't get again. The oysters themselves just tasted off for some reason.

I was completely blown away by the food here.  Can't speak to the cocktails (though they looked delicious) but here's the food rundown:

Lobster and Waffles-MUST get.  I can say with certainty that it is one of the best lobster dishes I have ever had.  Waffle was perfectly sweet, Lobster was incredibly fresh (no freezer or fishy taste) and whatever butter sauce was on top was literally crack.

Brussel sprouts-sweet, candied deliciousness.  Truly outstanding

Cheese Grits-UNREAL.  Creamy, cheesy, buttery, perfectly done

Black Kale Salad-well done!  dressing complimented the salad perfectly.  I think I might want to see a small sprinkle of pecorino or something, but overall, well done.

Burger-outstanding.  I only had one bite but the meat was cooked to order and the brioche was delicious.

Hope this place takes off in Sono!  not to be missed!!

    Delicious "Elegant" Bar Food.

Decor is cool "downtown," with exposed brick walls, shabby chic chandeliers and columns, modern mirrors, groovy contemporary fireplaces, and marble-top farm tables.  There are also many flat screen TVs on every wall.  My family and I went on a Sunday evening, and the clientele was diverse, from families to younger couples on a date and even a birthday party for a 30-year old. Service was very good.  The food was surprisingly delicious.

The lobster on corn bread waffle is a wonderful dish; the lobster is perfectly cooked and the butter/sherry reduction sauce is incredible.  In fact, both my son and I enjoyed our plate so much that we ordered a third to share!  It is offered as a "small plate" only, my guess is a full plate would have a high price tag for "bar food," but I would still recommend making this dish as a full dinner plate...  I am sure there would be many takers.  Others at the table order the crispy fish sandwich - and ate it to the last crumb - and the fried chicken sandwich - very good but the batter is a little thick.  The oysters were also very good.  The french fries are hand-cut and so good.

I was so impressed by the quality of the food that I asked a few questions to our waiter, and found out the chef used to be at the Whelk.  Ahhhh, now I get it...

The only dishes that were only "OK" were deserts - we had the cheesecake and hot chocolate cake, which both were OK, but definitely not of the same standard as the savory food.

Will go back many times, that's for sure.  With the kids or just with friends for a relaxed and delicious lunch or dinner, we will be back.

The bottom line: Its on par with the quality of its parent restaurant Southport Brewing Company priced 2-3x higher. The space is awkward and disjointed with three separate dining areas that all feel small despite the overall cavernous space. The acoustics are awful as the loud music bounces off the high ceilings and meets your ears in a garbled manner that simply makes conversation a challenge. At least the tunes were good-a mix of classic rock and new alt rock (zeppelin, strokes, black keys).   If you have ever spent time in New Orleans you will be disappointed with the food. It was pretty mediocre. Weak sauce watery gumbo lacking in meat ($14 appetizer), over sauced everything, and sickeningly sweet margaritas that tasted like TGIF canned versions.  The oysters were solid. Contrary to others reviews our service was good.  Our waitress was attentive and offered detailed descriptions of menu items.  I do not plan on returning.

Place is excellent - superb oysters, and unique combinations that work. Fun menu that let's u move around. Great bar beers and cocktails. Although this location has has had many starts and stops over the last 20 years, NOLA is a real winner

My husband and I had 6pm reservations.  When we arrived to the restaurant, the host took us to the back room. When I asked him if we could sit in the front he told me that it will be filling up quickly (?) and there will be no room (but at the moment there was plenty of room). The back room had only few diners but we were seated right next to the other couple (I hate when they do that!). Well, at least the other couple and us had a good laugh about it. Just to point it out, after dinner when we were leaving the restaurant I noticed plenty of open table in front.......

The waitress was OK, but could use some manners. My husband ordered tuna crudo and head -on shrimp & grits. I ordered cheeseburger. Food took a while to arrive and when it did it was COLD! I ordered my cheeseburger medium rare but it was cooked well done. The food it self was good, even cold.  But service it self sucked! The over all dining experience was disappointing.

Wow, this place is good. If I could crawl into the bowl of clam poutine I would have.  The chicken sandwich was a play off the one at the Whelk and IMHO blew it away. Nice twist on some of the classic drinks - and yes, any place bringing in good beers has got the right idea. People will say that Nola is pricey but it's worth every dollar with the quality of food coming out of that kitchen. A must visit for sure.

Went here on a Monday night early, and had the place to ourselves.  They had some amazing beers on tap, a couple that are really hard to find.  So that was a great start.  We then enjoyed some oysters, which were extremely fresh and quite tasty.  The menu had some very unique looking choices, and it was a tough call.  Ended up trying a ginger tuna appetizer, which was amazing, and then we had some fish tacos and some sort of pan fried bread/oyster/leek dish which I can't rave enough about.  Dessert was bread pudding which was absolutely perfect.  Finished up with a spiced rum and coconut milk concoction the bartender came up with which was also excellent.  Apparently the spiced rum was made in-house, and it didn't disappoint.  Can't say enough good things about this place, even after only being open a couple of weeks.  This is definitely NOT the usual SBC fare!  Prices are extremely reasonable, and the service was top notch even when it got busy.  We'll be back!

My wonderful bf took me out to dinner here for my 30th bday on feb 27th 2013.im not bog on oysters and never tried them but like seafood so I figured they would have othet things to choose from  so I agreed to come here. . my bf and I are foodies and love trying new places so this was a real treat.i came last wk 4 a drink  and loved the aqMBIANCE SO  I already knew what to look forward to.Everybody was very nice and attentive to our needs and for that they get a big plus.reaqlly nice inside perfect for an intimate date.only thing I dnt like was not too much to choose from other than oysters but than again they are an oyster bar so cant complain. my bf ordered da 12 dozen oysters and loved em . I dnt try any ., I had the clam chowder soup which was delicious and buttered grits so smooth and taqsty. the best grits I ever had. everything was so filling I coulnt finish. I definitely will be coming back here and I recommend this place if u love oysters.its kinda exspen sive but than again we had a bottle of champagne so that could be why da bill came to 93 bucks for 2. I think it was well worth it as my bf said so 2.

We went here on Saturday night, after they'd been open for about a week.  Arrived around 9:30pm.  It wasn't full but all the seats at the bar were taken.

My other half had the burger and LOVED it.  Seriously loved.  At least two other couples at the bar had also had the burger and raved about it.  While not a big meat eater, I did try it and it was very tasty.

I had the lobster/waffles.  While it could have been a little hotter, it was truly delicious.  I don't even want to think about the butter content.  The cornbread waffles were perfectly sweet and paired really well with the lobster and the sauce.  My only hesitation there was the price tag and the fact that while the portion was adequate, a hungry diner might not be truly satisfied.

I had two of the blood orange jalapeno margaritas and really enjoyed them, although I know that a couple of other diners thought they tasted too much like juice and wanted more heat.

Overall we had a really nice time and will definitely be back.  We got to meet the chef and thank him for a good meal.  Nice young guy.

Next time I may try the shrimp and grits and am sure my other half will be getting the burger time and time again.

I brought my mom here for dinner on Tuesday and we loved it. The blood orange Margarita is really good. The tuna crudo was delicious and the pork shoulder w/ collard greens was very tasty. I didn't prefer the breadcrumbs, but I would definitely order it again. My mom had the scallops which were cooked perfectly and tasted very good. We'll be back...cool atmosphere and nice to see something new in the neighborhood.

Awesome food. If you go, get the burger, tuna crudo, lobster and waffles or the steak with bacon bernaise and brussel sprouts. Really enjoyed everything.
