we used to order from the Western location all the time , but wont ever try to order from Irving again. Delivery menu and their website says they deliver within 4 miles .. we are 2 miles and a handful of blocks away and the person on the phone wouldnt take our order saying it was too far. I told her it said 4 miles on their delivery info and she said they wouldnt go past 3 miles.. i said well thats fine because  we are only 2 miles 4 blocks away and she still said it was too far. Economys tight and there are enough restaurants out there who WANT the money ..if they cant even keep up to their delivery info on the webpage and menus and then wont even deliver to a house thats within their delivery range, i dont want to bother with them.

I honestly wish I could give half a star because I would award it to this place in a heartbeat.  The food is a little better than adequate, which is honestly all I hope for from most Chinese carryout/delivery spots around here.  They had a dish called "Rainbow Wonton" which is pretty much the same as the subgum wonton that used to be served at the House of Wah Sun on Lincoln Ave. (I can't find it on their online menu; I fear it's been deep sixed.)  Since I loved that dish, I ordered the Rainbow Wonton and found it to be tasty, though not nearly as flavorful as what I remember from House of Wah Sun.  Still, it was good enough; I enjoyed it.

I also split the pot stickers with the housemate and  they were very nice, with a good sauce.  That was rather a relief since the last time we ordered pot stickers from a restaurant the little container of sauce tasted pretty much like straight soy.  The pot stickers themselves were properly cooked if a bit doughy.

The housemate said that her Mongolian combo was really spicy, and if she comments on it, you know it was hot. Her opinion: Yeah, better than adequate but not really, really good.

Prices are pretty reasonable and service is quite fast.  In all, it's a place we'll order from again, though I'm not quite prepared to go to the four star stage just yet.

N.B.: What is it with restaurants under-cooking shrimp?  Every place I order from serves me flaccid shrimp that makes me want to yak.  Happened again from this place and while I know I can reheat the leftovers and firm them up, I shouldn't have to plan for that. I really don't want to bite into another half-cooked piece of shellfish, you know?  This is another reason why I couldn't go past three stars for this place.

Just wanted to add...their special combination plates are HUGE.. I mean, like monstrous!!! My boyfriend and I can split a $6.60 combination plate for dinner and still have some left over!!! Seriously, I think the special combinations are larger than the dinner portions- and they come with an egg roll!  Additionally I appreciate that you can sub out white rice for fried, as i prefer white. Awesome deal here.

I've tried other menu items here and have to say that some of it isn't bad: Try the mu shu beef or Mongolian beef if you're craving Chinese food. The prices remain reasonable and the portions enormous (I get three meals from a large menu item). Delivery is also fast and friendly.

SO GOOD, and CHEAP, and PLENTIFUL. I was so happily surprised when my coconut smoothie wasn't all sugar and artificial flavors. It was made from a coconut. SUPER HAPPY!

Eh, the food is not bad, but not great either.  Cheap and I will stop here for a quick bite.

Used to be only cash, now CC is a plus

Nothing remarkable, try them if you need a quick Beef Kung Pow.

Since I only get one thing when I order Chinese food, it probably would not be fair for me to award them five stars, but if you like beef egg foo young and egg rolls or crab rangoon, this is your place!  Very large portions and the quick delivery time was unbelievable!

This place is great for delivery! I have eaten inexpensive Chinese food a lot of places in Chicago and elsewhere and I think this is some of the best quality in the $6-$10 price range.  Everything tastes different  (definitely not always the case) and the meat and vegetables are fresh. Delivery is FAST and as others have said you can expect to eat leftovers for at least 2 more meals. If you're looking for tasty Chinese for less than $20 #1 Chop Suey is the place!

It's what you'd expect from a place named "#1 Chop Suey."  Lots of food and cheap prices with fair results.  I've eaten there three times in the last 10 days or so and each time liking it a bit less. I guess there is a bit of a chemically addictive quality to the food even though the ingredients look fairly fresh. They tend to use quite a bit of oil, definitely lots of salt and probably MSG.  So, you might want to go easy on the sauces at this place.  The hot and sour soup was good but again very salty (I know most Chinese soups are).
Anyways, it's a decent place to check out if you are in the area and craving inexpensive Chinese food.  I would not go out of my way to go there though.

Chinese food has a lot of competition.
In our delivery area alone there has to be at least 6 we patronize. But #1 Chop Suey was a place i always past by. A couple of notes. It is next to my dry cleaner and what little I know about the dry cleaning industry, clothes are treated with a lot of toxic chemicals. So mark against #1 CS. Secondly #1 CS is located in a strip mall, with 2 small tables. This sent the alarm that this was not a sit down establishment. Mark two against #1 CS. Thirdly, it is called #1 CS. Who eats at a place called #1 CS? I was expecting Mongolian Palace or like Emperor's Chicken and Waffles. Mark three against #1 CS.
So when wifey and I were driving down the street in search of a meal I made the suggestion in jest. To my surprise she jumped at the recommendation? I thought did she hear me correctly? I did one of those cartoon like stare and blinks, to make sure wifey (a person who admonishes places I can tolerate like Golden Nugget or OCB) would actually consider a place looking like a chinese Harold's Chicken Shack from appearances and boast a name like #1 CS.
But alas, we were both really surprised. We ordered dinner for 2 combo meal but it really was more like a dinner for 3 or 4. It came with 2 egg rolls, 2 crab rangoons, 2 fried shrimps, a small order of sweet and sour pork, almond ding and a large fried rice. What a feast! This will not be something to write home about but it was served very quickly, fresh and piping hot. I found the rice to be really tasty followed by the crab rangoon and shrimp. The sweet and sour pork was a bit to greasy even for me but overall what a pleasant surprise. All that food for under $20 too. It is tough times in this economy but I definitely found a food stimulus package for times when craving some really fast and close Chinese food in the hood.

A lovely lady works the cash register.  I was very impressed how she kindly took time to set out a meal on one of their tables for a blind patron and tell him what each container held, where the various sauces were laid out on the table, etc.

It's a pity that their food isn't good.

I used to love their Mongolian Beef lunch special but the last time I ordered it was terrible. It tasted a whole lot different than before and it had a weird sour taste to it. I think I will give then one more try and if it doesn't work out it's time to move to a different place. Too bad.

Funny thing is, I eat here when I'm on my "healthy" diet and don't feel like cooking. Healthy because we always order chicken and broccoli steamed with no sauce. Extra chicken for $2 more...and the servings last at least 2-3 meals. The chicken satay is good too, with some rice on the side its a great meal! My daughter loves the crab rangoon, and I try not to eat it when she orders that but its so hard!
This is a great, fast, inexpensive chinese place but we really don't deviate from our normal order....

I was stuck inside all day cause I'm staying at a friends and didn't get a key to the house, so I couldn't leave. I looked on yelp for anything within the area that was cheap and would deliver. This place showed up.

I ordered the chicken and broccoli and pot stickers. It arrived within 30 minutes, probably less time actually and the food was still really hot, it was like they took it straight off the wok and drove it to my friend's house. The portions are HUGE, I couldn't finish half of the meal, let alone touch the pot stickers (I'm hoping it will taste good tomorrow). The food was decent for what you pay, but its nothing that I would go raving to my friends about. All in all, a great place if you're hungry and want something cheap and decent, but if you want really great chinese food, try some place else.

i am never disappointed when i order the #13 (kung pao chicken combo with pork fried rice).  yum!  the food is cheap and they give you so much of it that you can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day!  what a bargain.  it's definitely good to share and not just because sharing is caring.  it'll be good for your waist line.  ;)
