Too many UNCONTROLLED brats running around -- literally there were more kids than adults. C'mon -- what could be a pretty cool, neighborhoody pizza joint has turned into a 'new-age' parent joint (who haven't a clue on proper parenting skills) dragging their spawn in for dinner . . . because, I'm guessing, a home cooked meal is a foreign concept. If I heard another disinterested mother call out "tanner, tanner, now come back to the table" - without even looking up from her i-phone - I think I'd pull my hair out!
Anyway, back to the food -- eh... I agree with one of the other reviewers -- the crust -- just not good. Personally, I love a thin, crisp (but toothsome), slightly chewy crust with nice blistered crust - mmmm -- but not even close. Our pizza crust was about 3x what I would've liked. The center was a bit doughy and the crust was crunchy (but not a good crunchy) -- more like a stale, thickened, unsweet, dense pie crust. The toppings were generous and tasty (hence the 2nd star).
We also decided to have 2 dinner salads -- pretty small and not worth the price - sounds like the larger salads to share were the way to go.
There was only one server for the whole restaurant -- but luckily, he was busting a hump and was actually very good.
Anyway, what could be a pretty nice place to hang, grab a brew and a nice pizza, really is no more than a hipster chucky cheese. Pass
Probably the worst dinning experience in our recent history. Â Not only was the waiter inattentive and inexperienced he did not supply water, napkins or plates to our table while courses were being served. The" hot "chicken wings were still frozen in the middle, cold, and gelatinous a terrible moment in chicken wing history. Â However, we sent the wings back and there was no retribution what so ever from staff or management. Our pizza was under cooked basically raw. I ordered two signature pizzas one large and one small. One was the traditional Margarita and the other pizza was called the "Bomb". The sausage on the "Bomb" Pizza reminded me of rabbit turds on fresh grass, spongy and small. Furthermore, 3 ounces of wine equals eight dollars. We had three glasses of wine total. WOW. The entire experience was $70.00 for one small and one large pizza with 3 glasses of wine. I don't think we will be dinning at Oblio's Pizzeria EVER again. Terrible food and service. You should be ashamed! 10/21/2012 P.S. Had no choice to rate it with one star. Does Yelp make negative stars?
Review Source:So, I've had some good pies and some not so good pies here. Â When they're not good it's usually because they're undercooked and doughy as all get out. Â Just ordered one for delivery and was informed that you can only pay by check or cash for delivery. Â I mean come on it's 2012 and you don't take cards for delivery, how are you even still in business? Â Guess the neighbors don't have too many other options for porch, food, and booze. Â Glad I live closer to Mayfair.
Review Source:We have lived in Denver since April, moved from Detroit. Â I am Italian and have had my fair share of pizza both in the states and in Italy.
My wife and I didn't really like Oblio's but we wanted to. Â We live in Stapleton and I personally thought that Anthony's Pizza was way better (thin crust).
Oblio's has one of those chain pizza type of things going on. Â So for me, that means just ok. Â It wasn't that it was horrible, but it just wasn't special.
The gal that answered the phone for our delivery order was really nice. Â She even threw in a dessert because we were new to the area which is great. Â Normally, I would go back just because of something like that, but we just didn't care for the pies that much. Â We had one regular with pepperoni and olives the other was the chicken, feta thing. Â The chicken feta one was a great concept but poorly executed.
Anyhow, one other thing, it took an hour 15 for delivery. Â way too long.
Wish I had something better to say. Â And maybe some people will say I am an idiot for like Anthony's better.
This place should easily be four stars, it is just pizza after all. Â But their pies are mediocre at best and way overpriced. Â Very kid friendly which is fine but a bar does take up a third of the indoor space. Â Control your kids people. Â One star for decent local beer on tap, nice patio and usually friendly service.
Review Source:When I sit down at Oblio's I feel like I'm in the Goonies or some other 80s classic movie. The dark-ish wood, the worn in booths, the friendly workers and customers - all this adds to the charm of eating at Oblio's and sends me back to a pizza parlor of the late 90s. I think they even have one of those tabletop video games. And it is most definitely family friendly here if you happen to have kiddos and are looking for a place to take them for dinner.
The pizza crust is that middle ground type that Colorado seems to excel in - not crunchy and not quite deep dish, but it's very pillowy soft and I enjoyed the flavors of it. Nick and I ordered a fairly simple pie - pepperoni and banana peppers and I was delighted that they offered white sauce, which is my favorite for pizzas. I also had a small dinner salad.
They also have a decent patio which is going to come in handy for me and Nick this summer time I imagine.
This place is in a great location and looks like the perfect neighborhood pizza joint for Park Hill. And it might be if either the food was better or the price was cheaper. I would take either of those options. But when I pay 5 star prices for 3 star food (I'm being generous with that food rating), you get 2 stars. It's unfortunate because Oblio's could be something special.
Review Source:My family and I have been big supporters of Oblios for years. Â We would go there at least 2-3 times a month. Â We love the atmosphere, waitstaff, and pizza.
Unfortunately, I just realized that they have switched to a new crust. Â I was a huge fan of the old style, and thought it was distinctive and tasty. Â The new style just doesn't do it for me, and thus I believe our frequent patronage of Oblios will cone to an end.
Tommy, can you please bring back the old style of crust or at least make it an option?
Tonight's pizza - the Lorie Amorie (portabella, sundried tomato, red onion, and feta) was pretty darn good. In the past I have preferred the crust be a cooked a little longer but tonight they were spot on. We have ordered from them three times now and tonight's was definitely the best of the three.
That said... it's definitely on the pricier side. $18+ for a 12 inch pie, and it's not like the toppings were particularly lush. The pizza was nice and saucy, which is how I like it, but for the price, it's only an okay deal.
The delivery time was good.
I really want to give them four stars. I wish their prices were a smidge lower or they were more generous with the toppings.
I can't speak for the service since my order was pickup but the girl working the counter was friendly.  I tried the Giovanni and was not too impressed with the pizza.  The chicken was really bland almost to the point it tasted off.  The dough  tasted as if it wasn't cooked all the way, it probably could've used another 10/15 minutes to bake.  All the other toppings seemed to taste fine, the pizza sauce was probably the best tasting item, but overall I think the pizza could've used some more spices and cooked a bit longer.  I'm still open to trying to other items on the menu, maybe then I'd be able to give this place a better rating.
Review Source:I ordered from Oblio's for the first time, it took almost as long to find my long neglected checkbook to write them a check (no cards, cash or check only on delivery). as it did for them to show up with the delivery.
I ordered the Fat Tommy (chicken, jalapeno, tomatoes, feta) and it was quite awesome; all the ingredients looked and tasted fresh. Took a star away for having to dig out my checkbook.
Hopefully the rest of it will be good for breakfast.
This restaurant has great ambiance. Â We were so looking forward to sitting back for a good, casual meal with our family. Â Things started off OK -- greeted by manager, fresh microbrew suggestion (and tasting to be sure we had the beer we wanted), complimentary breadsticks, and friendly service. Â However, frankly, the food is terrible. Â The salad is little more than chopped iceburg lettuce with Kraft dressing tossed on it. Â And the pizza, oh the pizza, is ridiculously bad. Â Not only have I tasted better frozen pizzas, but I would also contend that most frozen pizzas are better! Â This was bad, simply put. Â Total cost: Â $50 for two beers, two lemonades (for the kids), two house salads, and a large cheese-and-canadian bacon pizza plus tax/tip. Â Regrettably, we will not return.
Review Source:I just moved to Park Hill and I've heard numerous people say this is the best pizza in town. Â Wow! Â Not so much. Â
First, I live 16 blocks from the place but the delivery driver couldn't find my house. Â It took forever, like over an hour when they told me 45 min. (and they always overshoot so it was way late). Â The prices are OUTRAGEOUS for a terrible pizza place. Â The pizza was cold from being in the car for so long yet it was clearly rushed and undercooked and my boyfriend had to finish cooking it in my oven as the dough was doughy and raw. Â Gross. Â And finally we bite into it...this pizza was comparable to Domino's which I also find disgusting but at least Domino's arrives fast, hot and nowhere near this steep price. Â
Terrible food, terrible service...I would never order pizza from here again.
It is a hard thing to find bad pizza. It is also hard for me to write a bad review. I often highlight the goods but ignore the bad that is out there. It seems that if pizza is bad, I am pushed to writing about it. Oblio's has a very courteous staff, good beer selection and a great location. What I can't figure out are the pizza prices as well as the flavor. It is an expensive pie that has very little flavor. Go and enjoy the patio, but just have a beer is my advice.
Review Source:Like so many of the other yelpers, I want so badly to support Oblio's but I think we probably just had our last pizza from there.
The experience wasn't bad, but it just the pizza really isn't good either, and the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. Â We can go to a nice restaurant and order a gourmet pizza for about half of what we pay at Oblio's and it's a pizza we're actually saying "mmm, this is really good", and sadly we've never said that about Oblios. Â
We've been a number of times and the only reason we go is because it's handy and we've been hungry but after dropping almost $35 for 1 pizza and 2 beers, sorry, I'd like to have about $15 back--I'll pay cheap prices for "ok" food, but paying their prices for ok food is not ok with me.
A local favorite in the neighborhood, many Park Hill families can be found here enjoying their favorite pizza. Â We are huge fans of the Stromboli and warm chocolate chip cookie dessert. The service is always super friendly and especially accommodating to all the neighborhood kids.
Would love to see Oblios open for lunch and perhaps add a few new selections to the menu.... for what it's worth. That being said, we are lucky to have such an awesome eatery in the neighborhood and we totally recommend it!!
One would assume that the pizza joint with a bar located right across the street from a bachelor in his mid 20's would be his main hangout and dining option. Â However, having lived across from Oblio's for over 3 and a half years, I could count the number of times that I have been there on two hands. Â Not that the food is bad or the service inadequate, more so that I don't particularly care for pizza. Â If I am going to eat pizza sober, it has to be thin and crisp. Â The bar is not intriguing enough to keep me a regular either, despite it being in walking proximity to my place. Â The draft selection is limited to about 5 options, they don't have a happy hour, and the families with their kids sitting all around you is somewhat of a buzz kill.
None the less, in the few times that I have been to Oblio's I have been satisfied.  Each time going to Oblio's was spur of the moment  for drinking purposes alone, however, food ended up in the equation each time (imagine that). Â
They provide complimentary crust bread and marinara for dipping. Â Prime drinking food. Â Considering my indifference for pizza, I have yet to try it but it has always looked appetizing and have never heard complaints from my friends. Â Their wings, on the other hand, I have tried. Â Wings in general are awesome, and these certainly didn't disappoint. Â I'm not a big fan of wings that are soaked in sauce and these weren't. Â These were perfect. Â Not too wet, not too dry, with a little kick.
If Oblio's incorporated a happy hour, I would be more inclined to be a regular, meaning for them that I would be more apt to eat their food.
By the way, in all of my visits to Oblio's, I have never heard one Peter Frampton song played here.
My favorite pizza is at Oblio's - the Fat Tommy. It has a white sauce, chicken, jalapenos and feta cheese...mmm! I can't really speak to the other pizzas because this is the only one I ever order. They also have a great cookie dessert with ice cream.
My only beef is that they are not open for lunch - it seems I am always in the mood for a Fat Tommy right around lunchtime.
Coming from Chicago, I was suspicious of eating pizza in Denver. Â But, after being invited to Oblio's pizzeria, I was looking forward to trying it out. Â I ordered a wheat agave beer and we then ordered a 16" pizza with pepperoni, sausage and black olives. Â The pizza didn't take long to arrive at our table and when it did, it was hot and not greasy. Â I even have some to bring home. Â For dessert, we ordered their deep dish cookie with ice cream. Â I've had this before in Chicago at pizzerias, but was surprised at how chewy and thick the cookie was (not cooked to the pizza pan). Â Try this place for good authentic oven style pizza. Â It would compare with Chicago pizza places. Â For sure!
Review Source:I hate to slam a local business and I'm sure people will think I'm a shill since I've reviewed Allegra's favorably.
That said, I normally wouldn't have anything at all to say about Oblio's pizza since I hadn't had it in years. Â Well, I was at a friend's place and she suggested it. Â Pizza sounded good. "Sure where ever you like." I said.
The pie arrived fast enough, but really, "Meh. I've experienced better".  It was dry if that makes sense on a greasy pizza slice.  There wasn't  much flavor in the pepperoni.   It was just a really unsatisfying pizza.
I love the idea of this neighborhood place--friendly people, nice location, outdoor seating on a tree lined block. It should all come together.
But then...there's the food. Very mediocre. On our several tries, we had a fairly long wait for pizza on which the sauce tasted like it came from a jar or was undercooked, was not made with good quality cheese, and the garlic was un cooked!
It has pained us not to have this as a favorite place. But a restaurant that doesn't do a decent job with its food just cannot get our business. Shape up, Oblio's! You've got people with money and standards living all around you! Make us proud! Take our money! We want you to succeed!
Update: tried Oblio's several more times since this review. Nothing has changed. Last meal, my 4 year old wouldn't even eat the pizza and my son quickly identified the chicken nuggets as the frozen kind we make at home, from the supermarket (price much higher, of course). After dropping 70 bucks on those, along with a couple small pizzas and a couple glasses of wines and some other beverages, this review's one star rating is confirmed. If possible, I'd lower it to a half star. I know the owner's a good guy and this is a family friendly neighborhood place, so I earnestly wish the facts were otherwise, but now I feel our reactions are no longer anecdotal or subjective. This place is just not meeting even a minimum grade.
Some friends and I got take-out from Oblio's on Monday for the HEROES Season Premiere. I was pretty excited-- for the premiere as well as the 'za-- because I'd perused their menu online. I'm a big fan of good toppings, and Oblio's had many. I called in a kiddie pizza with olive oil, portobello mushrooms, spinach, and fresh basil.
I can rationalize ordering a kiddie pizza because I shared it with my one-year old. So really, that's not cheating. Besides, it's the PERFECT size for solo pizza eating! And since I'm not a red-sauce lover, I almost always have to branch out solo when ordering 'za with friends. I'm weird like that.
Anyhow... it was just okay.
The toppings were great, but the crust left something to be desired. And really, doesn't it almost always come down to the crust? The crust is what sets good pizza apart from GREAT pizza. Virgilio's (see my review) has great pizza. Oblio's was good... Â not great. The toppings were awesome and the cheese was tasty and the olive oil was... olive oil. But there was something about the crust that was weird.
It was... tough. Like the way leftover pizza crust gets tough if you microwave it the next day. I don't understand it, I can't explain it. All I know is that I almost NEVER leave crusts behind on my plate after eating a slice (like SOME people I know-- blasphemous!). With Oblio's, I did.
And that says a lot.
OK, last night I went back and tried the deep dish pizza, Oblio's style.  They say right there, "this ain't Chicago, get over it!" on the menu, so, even  though I am from the windy city, I tried it with an open mind.  WOW!  It was great!  I shared the 9" with my friend and still took two pieces home.  They serve the sauce on the side, so you can try all three - bbq, white, marinara.  I really love this place even more now.
Review Source:I'm giving four stars for the friendliness factor. These folks were unbelievably nice. We decided to order some carry out from them because we were dying for some lasagna. It seemed like a good opportunity to try some place new..
Fast forward to pickup time: As I waited in the car as my husband ran in to grab the food, evidently the owners invited him (and friends and family) to join them the next day at the restaurant for an impromptu Superbowl get-together with folks from the neighborhood.
Now seriously. That's just plain awesome.
The lasagna was nothing earth-shattering, but it was decent. I definitely want to give this place another shot (we didn't make it there to watch the game), dine in, and try the pizza next time.
