didn't get much contact with the staff, so don't know what all the negativity towards them is about. they looked like normal chinese people in flushing haha.
other than that, the place is so awesome! the room was huge. sofas were so comfy to just lounge in after going crazy after a couple of songs.
sound system was good. their song selection was kinda weird though. there were old songs, new songs, and just RANDOM picks of my favorite artists...like the songs that aren't popular by the artists are there.
complimentary soda and food ..nothing fancy though, sandwiches and fries and some fish balls.
group of 15 paid 10$ each, not bad for 3 hours!
will come back for more craziness~~
Horrible and shady place! They require 15% tip AFTER tax, the staff were extremely rude and ignorant. They looked like they were gonna beat us up even though we gave 15% on the pre-tax amount.
Food was small-portioned, expensive and bad. Fishball appetizer was $7, and they gave us 6 and served ketchup as dipping.
Song selection and even the machine interface is almost identical to other places. Bad service, bad food, won't be back.
PROS: The rooms are spacious, nice and clean. Nice karaoke system with matching music videos
CONS: Â
However, the staff is very unfriendly and SHADY! Directed to staff - "Don't talk smack behind my back because you think I don't understand Chinese."
We booked a large room over the phone for $60 an hr, that was SUPPOSED to be good for 20 people. Got there and the room was too small so they put us in a bigger room, but upped the price to $70 dollars an hour.
***When we asked the staff how much food/drink credit we had left on our bill, one person said we had $200 left (which seemed impossible b/c we already ordered $200 worth of food)....5 mins later ANOTHER person said we went over our allowance...UNBELIEVABLE....THAT is very misleading and SHADY...our bill came out 2x as expected if they kept tabs better...this is why I'm rating this place 1 star....
Food was average but VERY small portions and expensive. $5 for a can of soda/water bottle (they don't have tap water...hahahaha), $30 for a small plate of fruit??? Half the menu they gave us was NOT AVAILABLE...Not worth it...
NO ALCOHOL allowed....major boooooo
I would've hoped that at least 1 staff member spoke decent english...that was very frustrating.
English song selection was average...but its was all lady gaga...
IMO it's not a great place unless you speak perfect mandarin and don't need alcohol...
I called the number listed in yelp, the receptionist is EXTREMELY rude. I didn't even finish my sentence and she cut me off and tell me another number to call. You can easily find another KTV place in flushing that has free parking - like DiYuan, or Skyblue that's cheaper but same experience. I wouldn't recommend anybody go there because the BAD BAD services and overpriced food/alchol or KTV rooms
Review Source:New World Mall is KAH-RAZY! It already has a thriving food court, gigantic supermarket, two floors of stores, and an upscale banquet-style restaurant, and now they've opened a karaoke lounge on the top floor. Despite the dumb name The One is pretty awesome and Flushing has one more great option for karaoke lovers.
I went to a friend's party in The One's VIP room Friday night and it was a great time. The One reminds me of the karaoke lounges in Taiwan. The decor is hip and modern and the service is friendly and prompt. They have a sizable menu of food and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) that are covered by the hourly room rate, typical of Chinese karaoke lounges. The One employs the standard touch screen karaoke system that most of the karaoke places in Flushing use. It's no surprise that they have an updated selection of Chinese music, but they also have a decent selection of English music too. The sound system is awesome which is no surprise since everything is new. The VIP room has it's own personal bathroom attached; I'm not sure if the smaller rooms have their own bathroom as well. Like most karaoke joints that are Chinese-run and caters to a primarily Chinese crowd, they turn a blind eye to smoking in the room. Only time will tell if this becomes a problem for them. Basically there isn't really anything to complain about. It ain't cheap but split between a large group of people it's not too expensive either. It's easily my top choice for private room karaoke in Flushing now. If you love private room karaoke like I do, The One is the one for you!
