My sister and i were visiting west palm beach so we thought we couldn't  go wrong with a traditional irish pub. When we walked in it seemed to be legit, kind of busy with a bunch of people playing cards. We sat at the bar and waited at least ten minute for the bartender to even come up to us. Finally he did and asked for our I'd (even though we were carded at the door) we gave him the I'ds and he didn't seem to know what a passport card was. He went over and asked the bouncer/ other bartender who seemed to have a better idea of what it was. I am 21 years old and a passport card is one of the most legit types of I'd you can get. The bouncer/bartender gave us out drinks. We finished them and had to wait another fifteen minutes to get his attention again. Finally he comes over and says we don't take those I'ds here I asked a lawyer and sorry you can't have another drink. This is why I give osheas "Irish pub" two stars. They already served me one beer! The worst service I have ever gotten at a bar. Needless to say I won't be going back or recommending it to anyone.
Review Source:Nice pub.
Went on a field trip with my bride up to City Place and ending walking to this pub. It's your typical Irish set up except they have a special beer getup. They had this round table with chairs around it which had two beer taps in the middle, see pic. It had Guinness on one side and Harp on the other. No $hit, I had to try this thing out. You ask the waitress to cut it on and there is a meter that tracks how many pints you pour. I would have to say that this was the first time I ever poured a Guinness from a tap. I felt pretty damn cool pouring this pint as my wife rolled her eyes at me....lol. For some reason that was the best tasting Guinness I have ever had:) The waitress told us that these tables are big in Ireland and O'shea's was the only pub in South Florida that had one.
We didn't eat so I can't comment on the food. As for the ambiance, we were there on a Monday at about 300p so it was pretty dead. Our waitress Laura was very nice.
If you are a beer lover you should make a trip to this place just to see the beer table. Remember to tell them Dan sent you and Stay Hungry!
In honor of receiving some passionate hate mail where I may or may not have been called various names describing a woman's vagina, I felt it was time to write a new review.
So I'll start here. I never really thought I was much of the Irish Pub kind of girl. And, in general, I'm really not. But on Clematis Street, you kind of yearn for a less wanna-be-South Beach and more these-people-are-kind-of-normal vibe. And I find that vibe here. I love playing darts, drinking my cheap wine, and occasionally going outside to linger and people-watch. This is a great spot for a casual meet-up or to catch up with friends.
I give you 4/5 Irish jigs. Well done.
My favorite bar in downtown West Palm by far. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, prices are good for downtown. There is a nice outdoor area in the back with live music from time to time and a second smaller bar. There are also a few tables out front for people watching. They also have live music inside.
Can be a bit busy on the weekends and might take a little bit for the drinks, but in my opinion it is well worth it.
The normal rating for O'Sheas would probably be a three, but they did a very extraordinary act, which I will say later that bumped it up another star.
I don't live in West Palm, but my girlfriends brother does and he had his engagement party at O'Sheas last Saturday night. It looks like a basic bar from the inside and outside. They have a nice set-up for some local bands to play in the front as well as a patio area in the back where they have an additional bar. We were lucky enough to have the entire back patio for the party and it looked amazing with some lights and bubble machines.
We had an open bar, so I am not sure about the beer prices or anything like that, but the bartenders were pretty quick with their service. They brought out a quick buffet that had mini shepherd pies, chicken tenders, mini burgers, mini Guinness things, and a couple other things to munch on. The one thing that really stuck out to me were the fish n chips, which tasted very good.
Not a bad bar. Everyone at the party said the last time they had been to O'Shea's was for St Patty's day. Since that is almost a year ago, I figure this isn't the complete hot spot. I would go back for some fish n chips though, they were delicious.
The extra star comes from the bartender on the patio bringing out a flat-screen TV for us to watch the Jets/Colts game. A majority of us on the patio were from New York/New Jersey so having that done was unbelievable. It was greatly appreciated.
Never had a problem here. Portions are good. Its in an awkward area of downtown pretty far from the party areas and city place. There is a trolly that comes by so thats a plus. The other plus is that there are other relaxing places nearby if you want to keep it all within close proximity.
Review Source:The drinks were cheap and the crowd was pretty cool, but the bartenders were aloof and actually rude. I wouldn't suggest ordering anything more exotic than a Guinness or Irish car bomb because they won't have a clue how to make it. And in an attempt to hide their staggering incompetence may proceed to insult your taste in drinks. Not friendly at all!!! Also ignored us until we had to wave to get their attention. I'm in the service industry and I know how it is sometimes when things are busy, but that wasn't the case there. Maybe they just didn't like women. Who knows? But other than that the place has a friendly vibe. Oh, but be sure to avoid the bathrooms! The garbage was a night stand with a hole in the top. Not shabby chic, just bazaar and dirty.
Review Source:Downtown WPB's irish pub.....too bad it can't be closer to home or I would go here more often. Â They have an area in the back of the pub that the local bands play at and it's a good place to go to get together with friends. Â The drinks are pretty reasonable and the atmosphere makes you feel at home.
Review Source:I have been coming to this little pub since 2008 and I love this place. Â You have Irish owners and Irish servers and the oddball American working here. Â What was the big draw for me? Â They have bangers and mash. Â I had to come in and get it. Â Interesting little tidbit that the waitress told me: they import their sausage from Ireland.
So, we sat at the U-shaped booth and I ordered:
Guiness
Bangers and Mash
Fries with Guiness Gravy
Hot Wings
I love a nice dark beer with good hot wings. Â There is just something about that pure beer flavor that goes with with the piquancy and I was hoping for the best. Â My beer arrived and not too far after the fries and the hot wings. Â Not the most piquant wings in the world, but the flavor was there and they coupled well with the Guiness. Â Every now and again I would head over to the fries and I wasn't disappointed. Â My only thought was that they should abstain from using the Guiness in the gravy since it didn't really taste of the beer. Â We finished off the wings and I licked my fingers clean.
Make a note: I ordered a second Guiness. Â I very rarely EVER order a second drink.; but the meal and the atmosphere had me feeling another. Â
And then the bangers and mash arrived and they were oh-so-good. Â I think my hate of Italian sausage is balanced by my pure ecstacy when faced with Irish sausage and English sausage. Â Not the best I have ever tried, but I would definitely count it in my top three places to get a good banger. Â The serving was large and the two of us split the entire meal. Â
The entire time we were eating, I must say that the atmosphere and the people were far from shallow. Â Everyone was here to have a good time. Â There was no drinking for the sake of drinking and I could see that everyone was truly having a good time. Â This is the kind of place I want to hang out -- a true pub.
very cool irish pub in west palm beach. i came here on sunday night like at midnight and it was kicking. irish bar regulars on tap, like guinness and smithwicks.
the bartender who took care of us was real irish and i had trouble understanding him but he was great. poured generous amounts of glenfiddich each and every time.
the music they were playing was awesome too. tom petty, ryan adams, pearl jam, elvis costello. you know? the good shit that keeps you getting another round and another round until they close the place down. which takes place at 3 in the morning by the way.
Loved this place back when I lived in West Palm Beach. I can't really speak on behalf of their food, but the drinks were always decent. But what really kept us coming back was the atmosphere and the patio in the back. A great place to just relax with a group of friends.
Also, most nights when we'd hang out here (usually Saturdays) there was some type of live music going on inside.
A great pub, at least if you're not there for the food or anything. Came here on New Year's after midnight and they were still very much alive, but not too crowded. There were only some problems with the music stopping, otherwise the drinks were good and priced well. The crowd was friendly and the atmosphere was nice.
Review Source:This is my favorite place on Clematis. Â Very chill bar that has some good live music once and awhile. Â The staff is very friendly and inside you feel like you are at a real Pub. Â I've never eaten here before but I have heard only good things about the food. Â O'sheas has an outside courtyard in the back which is cool on packed nights. Â If you are looking for a laidback place without all the wanna be gangsters and no-necks this is the place. Â It's not pretentious at all.
Review Source:This is my favorite place to go on Clematis St. Â It is a nice bar with a cool patio out back. Â They have a very friendly staff and their drinks are priced well compared to any other places on Clematis. Â I like this place better because it doesn't have a bunch of fake people that think they are the hottest people around. Â I would recommend this place to go just to hang out on a week night for a few drinks or also a party spot on the weekends. Â They normally have a band that plays some good music on the weekends too. Â Overall, Â I think O'sheas is the best bar on Clematis hands down.
Review Source:I have never really ate much here. I usually just pick off my friends plates..Typical Irish Pub Food.. Its a good place to get a drink with a chill atmosphere... Friendly Staff and usually a decent crowd.. Â For when your not in the moood to deal with a bunch of fake people and you wanna just chilll go to O'sheas...
Review Source:This is a nice, if typical Irish pub on clematis. Â I never even went inside, although I peeked at the wood panelling and guinesss signs.
They played the obligatory U2 album while I was there, which, since I haven't heard their older stuff for a few years, was nice. Â They probably play it every day, though, so I feel sorry for the staff.
Speaking of the staff, they were very nice, kept the tables clear, and
were mostly prompt. Â My waitress was also awfully cute, so there's that.
Happy Hour features $3.25 drafts of Guiness which seems pretty good to me for West Palm.
Nice points: Â Near enough that you can enjoy a beer or two and then head on to the Tri-Rail train. Â If you're outside, you should be able to pick up a wireless access point or two for your laptop, phone, or Nokia 770 Internet Tablet.
