Food was not very good  and service was not that good.

Stopped here on our first night in Savannah, having been recommended by our son.  He was correct.  This place had the best oysters (we had raw and rockefeller), and the cheapest well drinks ($3.00 each).  Sometimes, you just want to go sit in a bar and drink and eat oysters ... if so, this is the place!

This place was ok. Very touristy and the oysters really weren't that amazing. I was sitting at the bar, and I saw the bartender pull a plate of pre-shucked oysters out of the fridge and set them in front of me. I was hoping to get fresh ones. The whole place just seemed kind of gross and dingy. It was severely overpriced, too. I ordered a pasta dish, and it was almost $20. Ridiculous.

The only positive is the location, which is on River Street.

Food is just ok but a little pricey.

Come on Oyster Bar.  A resturaunt with that name should do oysters well.  We ordered a doxen on the half shell and it was brought to our table in a pan--with all the shells sliding all over and when the waiter set it down, they all slide to once side, falling on themselves...  zero presentation points!  I've been plenty of other places that serve these tucked in some shaved ice to keep them upright and looking pretty.  Here, they tasted good, but I felt like I was eating out of the scrap bucket.  Esh.

Grouper was good, not great.  A little dry.

Seafood linquini was good as well--I prefer mine with more lemon--suggest adding a bit of zest to the top to finish the dish or serve with lemon wedge.

Recommended by a local in Savannah, we headed to the Oyster Bar for dinner and a few drinks.  It was a great location right on River Street.  It is a family friendly atmosphere with a good drink selection...always a plus!  We started with the crab stuffed mushrooms which were great and kicked off our meal of extremely generous portions just right!  i had the fried oysters and my husband got the massive seafood platter.  I could barely see him behind the heaping pile of fresh seafood, which he proudly devoured.  He was kind enough to let me have a few of his tasty mussels. Another friend went with the lighter fare and ordered the day's soup, tomato basil, and said it was perfect. Just to make sure we would have to be rolled home, we finished off my sharing a slice of their bourbon pecan pie. It definitely hit the spot and we'll be back!

We were looking for some seafood for lunch and noticed that the Oyster Bar offered a dozen oysters for $10. Sold! The place was pretty empty but they had only just reopened for dinner. We ordered some beers and oysters while we perused the menu.  I did appreciate the fact that you could order fish cooked multiple ways (blackened, grilled, sauteed, etc.)

Our oysters arrived.....and I almost walked out. I have never been served oysters in such an awful, swamp-like presentation. These dozen half shells were served on a typical oyster dish, without ice, but instead surrounded by murky, dirty water. WTF? I think if weren't with my in-laws I would have walked out. Most of the oysters were not even properly separated from the shells either which made eating them difficult. The only reason this review has two stars and not one, was because the oysters did taste fresh. I had to really look past their appearance and presentation... poor things, it wasn't their fault.

Between the four of us, we ordered the grilled tuna, the flounder, crab legs, and seafood pasta. The food was decent, but I wasn't wowed. My steamed broccoli was over-steamed, and my grilled tuna was slightly overcooked, but the flavor was ok.

We weren't impressed with the service though. Everyone in there: the bartenders at the bar when we walked in, the host, our server all seemed like they'd rather be having invasive procedures than be at their place of employment.  A big disappointment.

i've never eaten on river street, of the countless times i've been there. i assumed the shops were overpriced and catered to "tourists", which i found myself one of this past weekend back in savannah.

since we were visiting from phoenix, we had to have some seafood, and with the folks in tow, we were cruising river street and saw their happy hour special of a dozen oyster for 10 bucks. their menu was pretty extensive and offered both broiled/grilled options for us and fried for my pops.

service was lackluster. our seater could've cared less to be working (who does, but it's work so at least put some effort into your job). our waitress, basic friendliness but nothing to remember. the raw oysters, although decent, had the absolute worst presentation i've ever seen. 12 oysters sort of thrown on a plastic plate, swimming in juice. that's what brought the stars down.

my flounder was good, but not what i'd expect for 18 bucks. my mom loved her pasta seafood dish, my dad always happy with crab legs and butter, and my wife seemed to like her grilled tuna.

had we more time, i would've pushed for a place off river street, but with already a couple miles of walking, we just wanted some food. if that's you, then this place will suffice. otherwise, pick another seafood place.

I love to eat here when visiting Savanna.
The service is excellent, the shrimp grits are outstanding and the oysters super fresh.
    Also family friendly!

All we had were the half shell oysters and drinks at the bar while killing time before a carraige tour. The oysters were fresh, drinks were cheap, and bartender was attentive. I would definitely recommend this place if you have time to kill.

We didn't have oysters so can't comment on those. I had pan seared grouper topped with crab meat. It was so-so, kind of greasy. I don't want to say it was bad because it wasn't; it just wasn't "write home to mama" good. I think it ran about $18. We had stuffed mushrooms as apetizer. They are about what we make at home; nothing special about them. I don't think I would recommend this place since there appears to be many more places here with better product at comparible price.

Wow.. this place was astoundingly bad. I'm usually extremely forgiving when it comes to service because I'm a server, I know how hard it can be at times. They weren't all that busy but our server kept making excuses as to why it was taking him 20 minutes to do anything, like bringing me my vodka soda that I desperately needed!! :)

So the service was pretty bad and even kind of weird/awkward at times.. but the food was even worse. I ordered the fried soft shell crab appetizer and it just tasted like old grease. The crab was dry. The aioli that came with it looked like mayonnaise that had been sitting out too long. My brother's girlfriend and I both ordered the crab stew and when we had our first bite of it we both just looked up at eachother and grimaced. Ew, it had the consistency of some nasty progresso soup or something. The fried oysters my friend had were ok, but my brother's crab legs were so dry the meat was just falling apart to dust inside of them.. Raw oysters were passable, but not the best I've ever had.

I really do not recommend this place.

Had an hour to kill before my Ghost Tour and needed something to tie me over. The place was empty at 6pm on a Tuesday night. The owner and my waitress was very nice and friendly. The oysters on a half shell was fresh and the clam chowder was very good - a bit salty.

A typical seafood joint on the riverfront that had nothing going on in the middle of February.

Enjoying a leisurely day in Savannah and decided to give the Oyster Bar a try. One of us had the Steamer Pot and the other tried a filet. Overall, very good food in pleasant surroundings, and excellent service. We'd do it again.

Ok so I order a Doz of the oysters on the half shell and they were good however whoever shucked them all of them had shells in them and I was getting tired of cleaning them out...

The waitress was outstanding to say the least though.  She did recommend a lot of things and also told us some things to stay away from which I really liked...

I would recommend a different restaurant to friends however I would go back due to the service being good....

We were in town for a long weekend and wanted a simple, casual dinner for our first night. Our cab drive recommended this place, and I'm glad we heeded her advice. We ordered several appetizers and made a meal out of them. Oysters Rockefeller, raw oysters on the half shell, you-peel-'em shrimp, escargot and stuffed mushroom caps--all very good! Service was excellent (Corey).

Went with a friend and ordered some peel n eat shrimp and a dozen raw oysters.  Both tasted great!  .  What gets this place a 2 star is that the second batch of Oysters were completely bland... no clue why.  They also were not released from the shell, which is sorta a let down. You would think that in a place named Oyster Bar they would have a clue how to serve oysters..... In a nicer establishment they would cut the leg so you can just slurp it out .  But, this was not a very nice establishment.....  def had some "locals"  AKA "bubbas," one which kept shoving his hand down the back of his gf/wife/fiance/escort's shorts.. CLASSY.

Wont go again, there must be better....

This place was not great, but OK.

They have some really good hush puppies, the coconut shrimp was very good, crab cakes were moist and tasty, my friend did not like the calamari though, he said they were sub-standard and not fresh.

    The service was fine.
I probably would not eat there again, there are better places in that town.
Some one recommended the Savannah Bistro for seafood.

I enjoyed this place a lot.  I ordered the Oyster Rockeller appetizer and the Caribbean Salmon entre.  The salmon was good, but not great.  The oysters were fantastic (what a surprise - given the name).  The whole river walk is pretty touristy (and the prices reflect that), but the food quality was good and I had a great time.

No complaints about this place, but not so special that it earns 5 stars.

It's one of several seafood restaurants along the riverfront in downtown Savannah.  The location is ideal, and prices were a bit more affordable than the neighboring competition.  Still, all seafood plates were between $18-$35.

    I will quote our waiter;

In a serious tone, without smiling, he approaches our table of 5 and says:

"Let's get one thing straight, no one will be ordering a burger tonight."

Well, no one wanted a saliva filled burger, so we all abstained.

I ordered a dish that included Shrimp & Crab, covered with melted cheese, and served with a side and salad.  It was unique, and I absolutely enjoyed every bite.
