Sushi, like sex and pizza (usually) is good even if it's bad. It gets the job done. Personally, if my roll has stale, dry rice and mushy seaweed, you know it's all going downhill from there. I took myself out to lunch here and ordered one of the bento boxes. I am very indecisive and so I saw "salmon" as the feature and figured the rest would sort itself out (rather than agonizing over what else to get, and enjoying the best of all worlds). Â The miso soup with seaweed and tofu was DIVINE. Picture Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids drinking that delicious, delicious lemonaid. That good. Unfortunately, the soup set me up for disaster because after that it was a disappointment. I ordered the sesame salmon (cuz I figured teriyaki would be too pedestrian and no indication of anything special), a spicy salmon roll, salad, single shrimp tempura and an ice cream scoop of some kind of mystery meat resembling chicken or tuna salad. The sesame glaze on my salmon was a thick, grey glob of mush that I could not eat all of. About half way through the fillet I had to scrape it off. The salmon was somewhere between perfection in that is was overcooked to be a bit dry, but undercooked so as not to be chewy and smokey and delicious, but the flavour was there. The salad was salad and the tempura'd shrimp was delicious. Soup and one piece of shrimp. I won't go back. There's far too many other things to eat when I'm in Chi City.
Review Source:Unlike all the other reviews here i had no issue with my group on experience. Â Many other reviewers complained about the mandatory 18% gratuity but I did not have this problem.
Aside from that my experience was fine. Edamame, miso, sushi and steak were all acceptable. Beer and sake were served for us by the waitress as traditionally done in Japan.
The only thing I found strange was that the miso soup was served with an American spoon. I bypassed it by just sipping from the bowl so no worries.
Oysy always has group on deals so I would never go without one.
