I spent a month of my life here recently. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, and the hotel is dripping with Chicago history.

And...World's Fair dorks like myself will appreciate that it is located directly across the street from the 1933/ 34 site.

As the hotel is configured a bit oddly, try to request an outside corner room or risk being watched through the window by your next-door neighbor on the tightly configured inside corners.

The vittles at the Executive lounge are abundant as is the noise. It can get quite busy up there, probably since the concierge staff does little to police the space. And on busy weekends, once word gets out that there's free food on 24, the whole hotel seems to be there.

As part the hotel's green initiative, expect your room to be quite cold (in the winter at least) every time you arrive. To save energy (money), your heat is turned down as you leave, and then when you re-enter, the room 'senses' you are there and then ramps up the heat. This was not my favorite thing. The hotel will tell you there is a way to override the system. It never seemed to work.

Anywho...I enjoyed my stay and would return.

This place is huge and the remodeled lobby is very nice. The grand entrance is nothing short of amazing. The staff were very good and let me check in early...at 9:30am with no extra charge.  Which is unheard of anywhere.  Thats where it stops. The rooms need to be updated. Especially the lamp. As you can see in the pics.... It was fixed w a piece toilet paper. lol! No really.. It's toilet paper. The glasses outside my door were there when I checked in. I told housekeeping about it. They said they'd take care of it. Then the next day I told the concierge about the glasses that were still there and that the overhead light didnt work. They apologized and assured me it would be taken care of. I came back about 5 hours later. The lightbulb was changed (still didn't work because the switch is actually broken but they obviously didn't check to see if the problem was fixed) but the Glasses were still there. I left to go out for the night. I came back and my receipt had been slid under the door BUT THE GLASSES WERE STIIIILLLLL THERE. I've always been a fan of the Hilton brand but this place isn't even close to as nice as it's reputation  portrays it to be. I won't be staying here again. The $56/night parking is expensive and had to call at least five times to get an answer. Two times I had to call three numbers to get anyone to answer.... The location is great though. It definitely has potential but falls short of all expectations I have for Hilton hotels.

Nice room, great bed (I seriously could've stayed in it all day if there wasn't so many wonderful things to see and bites to be eaten in Chicago!). Hubs requested a higher floor room and we were rewarded with a magnificent view of a magnificent skyline.

As others have mentioned, the place is a city within a city, with 3,000 rooms and a grand history. They do a great job of Including the history in subtle ways, such as screens in the elevator that tell you trivia tidbits and artwork in the rooms.  I've  got to give some points for charm.

The downside for me, as a light sleeper, was the noise from the L that managed to drift up to our room, even on the 19th floor. Also agree with other reviewers that the nickel and dining that typically accompanies 4star and higher hotels (pay for Internet, gym, etc) is pretty annoying.

If you're in town for Grant Park/Millennium Park/Museums, this is a decent location, but if you're here for shopping/dining/theater, you're going to feel a bit removed from the action.
