A staple for anyone on Northwestern's Chicago campus. How can you beat pasta (enough for two meals), a roll, and a can of soda for only $4.50. I went with the top seller of chicken pasta and was not disappointed. Good flavor, a decent a mount of meet, and delicious sun dried tomatoes. If you are ever in a rush or don't have time to make lunch, this is an easy and cheap option available on weekdays.

I don't understand how there could be complaints about this...it is SUCH a good deal for what you get. Definitely not gourmet, but it's $4.50 for some delicious pasta or salad plus a drink (plus some bread, which isn't that great, but hey, that's alright). It's my favorite food truck in the Streeterville area.

PS--If you want pesto tortellini (and you do), you need to get there by 11:00.

Love the Pasta Bowl truck!  They're parked right by my work from 11:30-1pm and I'm usually the first in line because at noon, good luck getting something!   Most of the time, I get the Chicken Ceasar salad and for a salad it's as good as it gets!  Very filling.  Along with your order, you get bread and a choice of bottled water or pop for $4.50.  Great deal if you ask me.

The most succulent $4.50 you'll ever spend on pasta, a roll, and a can of soda.  It's a heavy lunch, to be sure, but sometimes you just need mad carbs to keep rolling through the day.

I dig their tortellini.  It usually fills my man-sized appetite.  I don't dig their macaroni and cheese because they added onions to it.  Yuck.  I do dig their meatball subs.

They usually get there a little before noon (I've seen them at 11:30), so roll up early if you want a larger selection.

Overall, a solid lunch option that really satisfies a midday pasta craving.

VERY cheap!  4.50 for a filling meal + a drink is really a steal.

I've tried almost everything, some stuff is delicious, others... not so much.
    The good:
-any of the salads.  I love these.  They are huge, and the dressing comes on the side so you can control the amount.
-The gorgonzola shells.   Marinara sauce with spinach, pasta shells, and lots of melted cheese.  Amazing.  (beware of food coma)

    Bad:
-everything else.  The sandwiches are really greasy, the marinara sauce is just bad, the tortellini is flavorless, and all the other sauces are cream based (and super oily) which doesn't sit well with my stomach (even the pesto, and I love pesto).

Still gave this place 4 stars for the salads and gorgonzola!  Definitely worth checking out if you are in Streeterville and looking for a quick bite on the go.

Great location for those working in the Streeterville area.

Quick and inexpensive lunch. I had a portobello mushroom sandwich which was quite filling.

Service was friendly and I explained I was not familiar with the truck and the young lady working the truck today was super helpful.

It is a good deal for $4.50 to grab a sandwich and drink on the way to the office.

I stopped by the Pasta Bowl Truck to pick up a quick bite. All I've had so far was pasta and I thought I would check out their sandwiches.

Definitely not better or on par with the pasta offerings. The portions were large but just not enough flavor.

I might try another sandwich next time.

    Pasta = meh.
    Selection = never changes.
The pasta shells with gorgonzola = the best one, I think. Not saying a lot though. Anything baked with gooey cheese wins.
The salad = for the suckers who get there at 12.30 rather than 12.
The service = leaves something to be desired. For someone selling comfort food for 30 minutes on the street max, why is the dude here so cranky? Print out a menu if you don't like people constantly asking what you have today.
The packaging = they give you a plastic bag but it's going to leak if you use it, so hold it like a plate.
My wallet = stolen after a pasta truck visit right out of my bag while I wasn't looking.
The service, again = couldn't care less about that. I'm SOL, he has $4.50 pasta bowls to sell, so don't bother him is the vibe I'm getting.
    Pasta bowl truck = meh.

I have to say that the increase in price has not been $4.50 for more than one academic year. In fact, the price has been $4 since 1998 and had just recently increased by $.50. Still a great deal nowadays, and the food is delicious! Keep it coming Pasta Bowl Truck.

i have to say that the salad is pretty good.. chicken caesar. i am a little upset that they raised the price from 4 to 4.50 over the course of one academic school year though....

and the pasta can get super greasy also. i have to use a napkin to soak up all the nastiness and it becomes hard to eat the leftovers after having to do that sometimes

Oh, my heavens, this little business serves up some very good grub, but pick your pasta carefully.  Some of the sauces are rather creamy and when combined with hearty pasta and cheese, a postprandial food-induced stupor is a very real possibility.

Do not bother with the caesar salad.  I tried it once, and it was a disaster compared with the pastas.  Brown-tinged romaine lettuce leaves?  Not for me, man.

Streeterville workers, I have the inside scoop on a great CHEAP meal!

We all know and love The Pasta Bowl.  Did you know they have a truck (aka roach coach) downtown parked at 340 E. Superior?

I know what you're thinking - "ew, roach coach!  I don't eat food off of a truck!"  I know, I know. I thought the same thing.  But everyone in my office wouldn't shut up about it and today when a coworker came back with some delicious smelling food I couldn't resist checking it out.

For the insanely low price of $4.50, you get an entree (choice of a pasta dish or salad), bread, and a drink.  All for $4.50!  And the portions are huge!

Did I mention it's only $4.50?!  (and that includes tax)

For coming off of a truck, it was surprisingly really good and fresh.  I was shocked!

Tip - go there early if you can, like before noon.  Not only will you not have to stand in line (it's very popular), but you'll get a better selection.
