I can't believe this place is located in the Hilton. Doesn't the Hilton care? Here goes: $85 for four breakfast buffets! $85 big fat bones! I'm not kidding. This is what the amazing buffet had:
1. cold ass runny scrambled eggs.
2. under done soggy ass bacon
3. over cooked ass waffles
4. some rotten ass tomato slices topped with Parmesan cheese (i took  one bite and almost gagged).
5. greasy ass undercooked sausage
6. watery ass lox
should i keep going? Ugh! This is truly the worst breakfast I have ever had in Chicago. I will suggest shitty ass Mcdonalds next time we have to meet someone downtown. At least with Mickey d you know you can get a mediocre breakfast for under 5 dollars. Done!
Are you kidding me? Where to start...where to start. How about price. 3 egg omlette, $15. Chocolate chip pancakes (3), $14. The pancakes had a few chips on top, they didn't even put the chips in the batter! Side of bacon, $4. Which leads me to...breakfast for 4 people, $88. WHAT!?!? How much does that three egg omlette cost ya, 75 cents!?
We were stuck visiting with friends with a small child, it was 4 degrees outside, so we had little options. The friends were great to see, the bill was not.
As a means of convenience, the Pavilion was a nice place to stop into in the middle of panel discussions of the conference that I was attending at the Hilton Chicago. Â I came here twice for lunch. Â
The first time, I came in with a group of friends and colleagues. Â Our server was a mess, he couldn't really answer any of the questions that I had for him regarding their special buffet or even what type of sauce was in the steak salad. Â After a complicated description that didn't make sense, he resorted to just reassuring me that the steak salad would be tasty and he will replace it if I did not like it. Â Sold. Â I ordered the steak salad and it was quite nice. Â
For dessert, we had their "dessert shots" which including three tall shot glasses of deliciousness. Â This included a raspberry truffle, baked apple caramel, and tiramisu! Â mMmMm, thumbs up for dessert!! Â
Despite it being a nice experience, the Pavilion only gets three stars from me because:
1) I would not have gotten out of my way to go into the Hilton to have lunch here. Â It was just a huge convenience issue!
2) It's a bit rather expensive for decent food. Â It was good, but for the price, I've had better else where for cheaper.
3) Service was just okay and a bit disoriented.
Upon my second return, I just wanted a light snack to take a break from all the information overload. Â I ran into the first server again, and he stopped me to inform me the correct description of the salad that I had. Â He had gone and asked the chef for the best description. Â "A" for effort, I suppose. Â I had their artichoke and cheese dip with really yummy pita bread. Â By myself, I was sad that I couldn't finish it since it was tasty - I think the amount of cheese was a bit too intense and overwhelming for me by the time I got through half of it. Â
Overall, solid three stars!
