If you just want to get drunk with your girlfriends, and dance to music worst than the stuff you hear on the radio, This is the place for you :) The DJ needs to update his Mash ups.

jokes a side, Here is my honest review of Perle lounge "Ultra Life Fridays".

Pro: the venue is VERY nice.

    major con 1:
Addressing contact/manager? Leanne Gassaro, this lounge in a polite term is, a joke. Both men and women were way underdressed arriving as if they just got out of bed.

On the website Dress code says, "Night Club Chic Upscale Attire a Must" Only a small handful actually followed the dress code. Leanne Gassaro, your bouncers are not doing their job, they are just letting anyone in. Men walking into the club wearing sneakers, biker shorts, and timberland boots is not chic or upscale, even women aren't exempt from this complaint.

The drinks were rather high for what the lounge is currently worth. If the issues were resolved then I can see paying whatever price for a Bellini flute, etc. There aren't too many decent clubs/lounges in NJ. Especially in central NJ area. I would of given Perle a higher rating if guest weren't walking into the club looking horribly tacky. Basically an insult to your business!

Con 2: The DJ music was sooooo loud in the main room it drowned out the other DJs music in the smaller room. I couldn't even talk, not even centimeter from ones ear!! I've been to lounges before and there is a reasonable noise level. The DJ music was old it wasn't even top 40 of this year. The purpose of having a DJ is to encourage people to go on the dance floor, not leave it!

Maybe I'd go here again if the manager decided to listen to the people, and not be naïve! Rating would be more respectable, too! there's a reason you're not getting 5 stars.

What can I say about Perle... Haha... First of all... I live in DC and go out clubbing often. I was in New Jersey visiting a friend and we decided to give this club a try. We sat down at 10:40... The club was EMPTY but my friend and I were sitting at the end of the bar and were not served immediately. Ok...: 10 minutes later ... We see the bartenders huddled up together obviously laughing at something they had in common ... But I still found myself without a drink in front of me . 5 minutes later ... FINALLY got a server ... Thank god :... $25 minimum for a credit card  ..., it sucks but my friend and I dealt with it. We had two drinks each and then decided to have another to split ... Plus two shots. We asked for a glass of water at the bar and after getting the bartenders attention we got our water. Fast forward an hour and a half later . My friend and i are dancing and felt dehydrated so we went to the bar... To the same bartender - to ask for another glass of water . Now, water costs $4 a bottle ..  And you can't order a cup . What?! So I took the time to find the receipt for the bar tab that we had closed not so long before , and presented it to the bartender. A cup of water? No. $4 for a bottle. Seriously ?! They said it was company policy . I told them I received two glasses of water for free an hour and a half ago... So... Clearly not the policy . I understand the "policy" of some businesses ... I work in customer service and yes i do refer to the company policy when needed. The difference is- i know how talk to a customer. Even if the bartenders were following policy and there was nothing they could do , don't they have the decency to speak with manners to a paying customer ? They were very rude and inconsiderate. It's not like this is a night club in the heart of NYC ... They aren't prestigious enough to be able to charge those prices and im sure they are not successful enough to afford losing customers like this. After someone spends $60 at your bar, if you can't spare even 4 ounces of tap water, there is a problem . Even if it is against company policy ... If someone is upset enough to argue about a cup of water... service recovery would still call for some kind of action. Like I said ..., other night clubs care about their customers and don't treat them like this. As another review of Perle said, it in the club's best interest to keep people hydrated when serving alcohol. Sorry, Perle , you're not a DC or NYC club ... And sadly you never will be treated as such with this service. It doesn't take a genius to know that a club who would rather dehydrate their customer and get risk getting them kicked out of the club due to drunken-ness from a lack of water (partially, at least) than actually spare a cup from their precious tap is a sorry, sorry business. Don't give out free water one minute and decide its against the policy the next . Make up your mind and don't make excuses because costumers can see right though it. The club was nice but not nearly nice enough to make up for the lack of service. There are plenty of other bars in walking distance who sell cheaper drinks and actually give a shit about your overall well being whilst dehydrated. Never going back ... And I hope a manager reads this. There is a reason some people bartend and don't do anything further with their life ... And this is a perfect example of why.

mehhhhhhh. i stayed sober so that likely made a difference in my experience here. i had all of my faculties while i watched awkward encounters happen over and over again. one good thing is that the crowd was very diverse, ethnically. i consider that a good thing. the bartenders began watering down some drinks around midnight according to my friends, i can't confirm that but all 3 agreed so it was probably true.

Charging cover while the rest of the place is free seems unusual but its probably the only real night club after the old V-lounge closed down (the new place is a Spanish club full on still called V-lounge based on what the Bouncer told my drunk ears)...if you have a big group, getting bottle service is the way to go out here

Good: Big Dance floor as compared to other palces
    Bad: Cover charge

Try Hotoke and V-lounge (both have $0 cover charge) before going here as you might find similar if not better crowd

Danced the night away here for a friend's bachelorette party recently.

We arrived fairly early so there was no line.  There was confusion about where we were "allowed" to sit, even though the MOH made advanced reservations to celebrate our friend's night. The event planner was rude but we brushed it off and had a good time anyway.   We got in free, so really can't complain.   The bride got her drinks bought for her by other patrons and we danced till our feet hurt!

Music was good, the vibe was fun and we enjoyed ourselves. But it was what we made of it, not necessarily the club itself.

Not someplace I would rush back too, but it served it purpose for the evening.  I would definitely recommend going to AC instead for a girls night out.

Cover of $15 for guys in the middle of new brunswick is an outrage considering the drinks are overpriced. The place looks nice and is pretty spacious, but the crowd is stuck up and stiff. If you come with a group and just want to be around them you'll be fine but if you're looking to meet people don't hold your breath. You can have as much or more fun with no cover at Golden Rail, George St. Ale House, or Glo.

Avoid this place. Apparently I'm not the only person who's been harassed by the bouncers. Instead of peacefully asking people to leave they do not hesitate and get violent with paying customers. Was carried out by my throat and then told by management that "they have no recollection of it." Not worth it at all - stay far away from this place

It's ok every once and awhile. I had a lot of fun here for new years. But being close to the college there can be a very young crowd. Also, it can be dead during school breaks.

I came here for Salsa Thursday and WOULD have had a great time if I wasn't so thirsty! After paying a $10 cover charge (which doesn't even include a coat check), and bought drinks (tiny ass mojitos), the entire staff refused to grant me a drink of water. It is objectively in the best interest of any establishment serving alcohol--ESPECIALLY to a physically active crowd like the Salseros--to keep their guests hydrated!

The bartenders were only allowed to serve water from plastic Poland Spring bottles. Me and all of my friends have vowed to stop using plastic bottles,  especially for something as silly as water. Also, who wants to pay for water, when water is supposedly free? I've been clubbing in impoverished countries like Bolivia, where the tap water is actually poison, and clubs have water coolers for the guests to drink from (for free).

I tried to speak to the manager on this, and they ignored me, wouldn't even give me the time of day. I left, parched, and confused. I called the next morning and the manager gave me this attitude saying "those are the rules". STUPID RULES!

I work in a bar/restaurant myself. We don't have the audacity to charge $2 or $3 for a bottle of Poland Spring. We sell Saratoga in glass bottles, for people snooty enough to care. And if anyone comes in just asking for a little water to drink, not intending to sit and buy anything, I STILL give them water, what's the good in denying someone a glass of water? Where is the humanity? Not at Perle. Not coming back here.

And FYI, the business won't take a hit if you start offering tap water to your parched guests. The environment might feel a little better, though.

    The verdict:

    New Year's Eve at Perle = ($55/ticket x 4) + ($3/coat check x 4) + ($250/table, a bottle of Jack, three Cokes, including taxes) = ~$482 = realizing that I'm too old and tired to go out and party

    however,

New Year's Eve at Perle was better than any night at the Jersey Shore.

I came here last night with three friends to celebrate New Year's Eve. I had bought my $55 tickets in advance a few weeks ago - it seemed like it would be a really good night. The tickets included free open bar from 9pm-12am, and the club was open until 6am. The Yelp reviews below weren't bad, and it would be less hectic and expensive than partying in Manhattan.

    1) We arrive and get in line. The bouncers are really nice and straightforward to us. 2) We check in our coats. I thought it would be free, based on the reviews below. Luckily, we had a few bucks on us. 3) We go inside and attempt to get some drinks from the open bar. 4) I split up with the group to get our table reservation taken care of. I don't know where to go, so I ask a bouncer, who nicely tells me. I wait in line for a while, and then find out that my whole group needs to be there with me to get our wrist bracelets. One of us goes into the club to retrieve the other two. All four of us wait in line for a few minutes because there's only one hostess taking people to their tables. I see credit cards and licenses lying on the little table in front of me and realize that all of us waiting around it are clubgoers. I get kind of nervous about giving them my cards. 5) I give my credit card and driver's license to the hostess and we're taken to our table. We're in a quasi-private back area with one measly seat allocated to our table. We take over a small bench nearby. Next to us is an older couple, at least in their 50's/60's. 6) Our cocktail waitress comes and takes our order of Jack. The entire process of receiving two vessels of Coke and finally, our Jack, takes about 45 minutes.

    7) The open bar is a mad house but the one drink I got was really strong. Bonus points for strong drinks! The club fills up with crazy people.

    8) Three hours later, we attempt to leave. Perle obviously ignored any fire hazards and oversold their tickets. Random people are coming into the VIP section - no staff are present. It's a sea of people holding their drinks and standing because it's too claustrophobic to dance. Getting to the bathroom, which is flooded with pee, is a stressful trip. I almost get into a fight with a girl who doesn't like that I brushed past her, and finally resort to following a large man through the crowd. I feel like Moses. 9) My friend gets elbowed on the top of her noggin by a wild dancer, so we try to leave and get out of the mob. My cocktail waitress can't be found. After getting our coats, I ask how I can take care of my bill, since someone still has my card and license. I'm directed to go BACK to my table and wait there for my waitress. One hostess, who passes by, says they don't know where my waitress is, either. My blood pressure rises (yes, I was sober). Two groups of people are fighting over a VIP bench, so I give them mine. Fifteen minutes pass by and two hostesses come by, checking on me. My waitress can't be found. It feels like an eternity when she finally comes by, saying that it was hard getting through the crowd and I finally pay my bill.

If it was exhausting to read through the account above, imagine how frustrating it was to actually be there. Perle would have been a better experience if there had been more staff around to help with the crowd, and to help each other. I was so angry that I had to start off 2012 in such a stressful, disgusting and irritating way.

    Pluses:
+ Staff were nice, patient (not as much towards the end of the night) and polite.
+ The club is nicely decorated.
    + Drinks were strong.

    Minuses:
+ Have staff check on the bathrooms. They were absolutely nasty. I need to sanitize my body and shoes because I came into contact with at least 100 girls who used the toilet before me.
+ There is no signage. Where are the bathrooms? Do I really need to waste your bouncer's time by asking him where I can pee? Where do I go to take care of my table reservation? Where's the coat check?
+ So much miscommunication between Perle's staff. They were professional but disorganized. Support the people who make your club happen, idiots! Hire more staff! Get people to clean up messes! Where was management? It seemed like they were at home, sleeping. Hello? If you get better business management skills, maybe people would return and blow their hard-earned cash on you again. Maybe.

This is New Brunswick's only real nightclub. Usually there's a line outside, so be prepared to wait. Their dress code is very strict; try to dress to impress. The deejays could be better, most of them don't know how to mix. But recently, they've had different deejays on Friday and Saturday nights who play "good music" and not the obnoxious pretend techno stuff.

I've celebrated my birthday here and the VIP section is nice, though quite expensive. The bartenders and servers are friendly and nice. There's a smaller lounge/bar area which is a nice spot to get away from the main room. In the main room, there are lots of chairs/small tables and you don't need to buy a bottle to sit in that area.

It's nicely decorated with a cool ambiance and it's a good spot to go to if you feel like getting your dance on.

Free for ladies before 11 on Friday and Saturday nights. I think that's the only perk.

DO NOT GO HERE. I came here a few times and each time got worse and worse. This club thinks they're in NYC and charge a ridiculous cover, and drinks are overpriced, but that's not the worst part. The staff are horrible! The bouncers gave my boyfriend a hard time getting in because they thought his shirt wasn't flashy enough. Then they proceeded to shove him and ripped his shirt! He wasn't even being belligerent - didn't throw punches or anything. They totally started a fight because they were bored and wanted to feel big. Yeah you're real big if 3 of you pick on one guy. Never going to this place again! Do yourself a favor and steer clear.

Good looking place, but that's about it. Maybe another good thing - no lines for the bathroom?

It's an okay place if you go there with your own crew of people - like 10 or so. Or perhaps a date?

The people there seem weird - no one really dances unless they're with his/her own crew of people. No real interaction between people. It's like people go there to say they went out but stand around & do nothing - I don't get it.

The male bartenders and the one girl bartender at the side room bar seemed cool, but the brunette female bartender at the main bar seemed really snobby and a little bitchy. Hello, I'm a paying customer! The guy bartender had to apologize for her attitude.

The dj seemed schizophrenic - good mix of songs but it just didn't flow.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of selecting this venue for a private party. The coordinator on site was extremely unprofessional and did not respond to most of my concerns during the planning process. She refused to work with my party planner and called me the day of event with last minute issues. Management was MIA and never held her accountable (possibly a personal relationship since customer service was not a priority). I have yet to hear from her since  4 hr before my party. I would not recommend this place for private events!

THIS STUPID CLUB WOULDN'T LET ME IN BECAUSE I WAS WEARING TIMBERLANDS!!!!!! I'm mean seriously.... THAT'S SOME BULLSHIT!!!!! It's all good because I probably wouldn't have liked it anyways.  The line was filled with 40+ year olds. So I'm glad I didn't get in because I gave GLO and HOTOKE my business.

This place is retarded.  Wouldn't let my cousin in with Timberlands on.. but guys were walking in with sneakers... makes no sense.  They charge $12 at the door and the crowd looked 40+... PASS on this spot!  Go to GLO or HOTOKE up the street and its free.

2.5 stars. If you're in the mood to go clubbing in the New Brunswick area and don't want to travel far, this is one of the few places to go. The place itself is okay. I do like how they have a split level in the bigger room and then they have a smaller, more intimate room on the side. The crowd is a hit or miss like any other place in the area. The prices aren't too bad considering it's a "club". Thursday night it's all salsa, and there were some people who could really move so that was fun to watch.

I got fooled. I had checked this place out online prior to coming, and thought it'll be a nice place for a night out. A girlfriend and I came on a Thursday night. There was a $10 cover when we arrived a little after 11pm. No biggie. When we walked down the long hallway, our jaws dropped.

"What the heck did I just walk into?"

Apparently, it was Latin night? There were couples twisting and turning all over the dance floor. People old enough to be my parents. It was a nice venue though. We stayed for a bit hoping the music would change like some people said it would. Nope, it didn't so we left. Lame!

Ok, to be perfectly fair and honest, I don't really do the club scene that much.....and the time I went, I was already half in the bag when my friends decided to kidnap me and take me to this place.

From the outside it doesn't look like much....the inside is pretty nice i guess? They have a nice little lounge area off to the side, which is where i spent most of my time, i was too drunk to function to begin with. The main dance floor is filled with your typical college types...."dancing", or on the night I went, conceiving children. call me old fashioned, but pinning a girl over a garbage can while you basically hump her, isn't dancing.

I think I had one drink the entire time, and my friends and I found a condom wrapper by our seats.

3 stars only for the crazy bollywood dancing guy grinding against a pole the whole night, and the crazy dude who asked for my friends phone number at the end of the night.

I'm from CA so going to a club in Jersey was def an experience. The music was great! The drinks were expensive (but I'm not surprised) and the crowd was mixed and good. I mean, it's not NYC, but it's good. The lounge Glo was nice too.

The only reason I am giving this 3 stars is because I liked the DJ and one of the bartenders was nice. I was there early for a private event.  I tried to order a Patron mojito and one of the bartenders didn't want to make me a Patron mojito. She said she was all out of mint but when the back bar opened up the bartender working back there was more then happy to get me mint to make me a mojito. I flat out told him that the girl said they were out of mint and he said she probably just didn't want to make the drink.  The drink wasn't that great (not minty enough for me I think it needed to be muddled more) but the fact he went the extra mile was appreciated and he got a $5 tip from me.  Women had been smoking in the ladies room, so it stunk in there.  If they are going to be charging what they charge for drinks and covers to get in, then the bathrooms should have attendants.  If they are going to try to be like a NYC club, they need to step up their game.

    UPDATE:
So recently they have been changing up their DJs on Friday and Sat. nights and they have completely changed my opinion of the place.  The drinks are still worth the money and if they hired their invited special DJ guests permanently, this place would be 4 stars.

This is the only true nightclub in New Brunswick downtown area.  The cover charge is very high and the dress code is strict (shoes only, no sneakers fellas).

The DJ they have is usually abysmal though and they could really use some better talent.

Apparently this place was formerly the Platinum nightclub. Same owners of Glo around the corner.

This place is filled with flat screen TVs and plenty of room to dance and stand around looking at other people dance. Problem is - they let way too many people in and then it becomes a madhouse.

    WHAT'S GOOD -
    Music
    Dance space
    Decore

    WHAT SUCKS-
Price of drinks - $6 for shot?! come on...
Idiot bouncers that make Forrest Gump look like a rocket scientist
    Cover charge of around $15
    Gets too crowded to dance
