As far as airport restaurants go, it's not bad. Â The food is reliably decent, and the drinks aren't watered down. Â But, that means, the food is never amazing; it won't make your belly happy; and it won't make your tongue do any happy dances. Â Plus, if you like a stiff drink before your flight, you're not going to get it here. Â But, since it's the only place that sells alcohol in this terminal, so if you need a stiff drink, just pay a little extra and order a double.
Review Source:I have eaten at Perry's in the city and at the Delta terminal at SFO many times. Tonight my colleague and I had one of the worst meals and service we have ever experienced ever! Steak was inedible and tough, blue cheese with wings like white water without flavor, veggies over cooked and soggy, potatoes tough and tasteless. Others also noted even their burgers were disgustingly bad. DO NO EAT AT THIS PERRYS!!!! Service not better. Took multiple requests to get extra watery blue cheese, extra set of silverware when we were comped extra wings. Simply awful all the way around. What a waste of money. I hope they can straighten out!!!
Review Source:First time eating anywhere in San Francisco. Â It wasn't busy so we sat down right away. Â Our waitress was ok. Â I guess I'm use to a more aloha approach. She was quick in getting our orders but after giving us our food, she disappeared. So I gave them three stars because my water was not refilled.
But I must say I enjoyed the food I ordered. I had the corn beef hash and it was really good. It was fresh corn beef with good chunks of potatoes. No rice of course...it wasn't even an option. Automatically got toast bread, which was good.
Price was a little on the high side but what would you expect from eating at the airport.
Perry's was about our only option for a sit down dinner in Terminal 1.
I have to say, we must have gotten lucky with our waitress. She was not only funny, but extremely accommodating of our needs. It was nice to have those beer refills coming... and the food was absolutely delicious, I kid you not.
Happy trails to all you travelers!
Time for one of those Yelp Review essays
I hate to pile the crap on thicker for a restaurant, but this was one of my more detestable dining experiences in a long time. FYI, SFO is a major hub for United, so flights for American, Delta and others usually get the shaft in terms of terminal amenities. It's also the reason why I have always been a frequent flier on United. Anyway, the Delta terminal only has this one restaurant, so it's guaranteed to always be packed. Wait times can range depending on the size of your party, but if you are just one person, it could take the Hostess up to 5 minutes to find you a table.
The restaurant seems to be nicely appointed with the classic wood trimming and bench seating. It makes you feel like you belong in a Boston basement pub. Then when you get a whiff of the wait staff...
I was seated at a single table and was handed a menu, and that's where everything went downhill. I was ready to order within 1-2 minutes of seeing the menu, yet I waited for nearly 15-20 minutes, not even to get a drink order in. WHERE'S THE SERVICE? A couple next to me gets up to leave, no one even notices or acknowledges that they leave. The hostess then seats the next person at the table with the last check still sitting on the table. Wouldn't you as a hostess consider picking that up before seating someone? So the check sits there, on the table next to me. I exchange a head shake with the guy next to me as if to say, "this is not gonna end up well..." Another 5 minutes pass, the waitress finally catches site that we are waiting, I see her looking at me. She DECLINES to come over and apologize for the wait. Keep in mind this is the same waitress that just seated me 25 minutes ago. She returns 5 minutes later and almost does the unthinkable... gets out her pad to take the order of the man who just sat down, who happens to be a white guy with a prominent "Stanford" college sweatshirt on.
That's one thing I will not tolerate, forgetting who you seated first and take the order of a customer who just sat down. I interrupted the waitress and said excuse me I've been waiting about 30 minutes here I think I'm first to order. In the long run, why would it matter, she's placing both our checks one right after the other in the kitchen queue. Awful. So she takes my order first after realizing the mistake. She was scatterbrain I could tell from the start, "so (long pause), what looks...what can i get you?" I think came out of her mouth. Maybe she was nervous to be around me, when I'm hungry, hypoglycemic, and frustrated I can come off as pretty abrasive. I try to tone it down. I order a blue moon draft, a full caesar salad. She stops me right there, and QUESTIONS my decision for a full, who does that? If I want to stuff my self silly paying for more food, why would you prevent me? It's more money for you. So I confirm to her. YES. I want to eat a crap load of salad before my main meal. Next, I order Perry's hamburger, with cheese AND read carefully, BACON! Yes, I make the strong choice to add Bacon for an extra $2-3. Then that was it, so I hoped.
Usually when you have another customer sitting directly next to one customer, you turn around and also take that customer's order too. But that's not how this waitress' reality works, so she walks away from both our tables, walks to the middle of the restaurant by the hostess desk, then does a 180 back to the customer's table next to me. Then predictably, takes his order. He orders almost the same exact same thing as me. A draft beer of sorts, a full salad, and a burger.
We wait 5 minutes for beers. Fine.
10 minutes more pass, and the guy next to me gets his salad first, then I get my salad about 30 seconds later. Evidently, remembering or sighting which orders came ahead of another is not this waitress' strong suit. The death knell if you hope to get any sort of tip in this business. That's a strike of at least a dollar tip to me. Just so we're keeping score. I finish up the salad and so does the guy next to me. We wait about another 10 minutes for someone to even pick these dishes up. To say service here is slow, is insulting to the very word, slow.
What happened next, pissed me off to no end. The guy next to me gets his hamburger before me, he sat down 10 minutes after me. Dropped off by the waitress that we share. There is no indication like, "hey, your burger is coming out soon." Why would there. She has no clue what I even ordered. I wait another 10 minutes for my hamburger. If it's not evident that I am pissed you had to be blind. I was giving everyone in the place the F.U eyes. My waitress passes by the table, and I mad dog her completely. This gets things going. My burger comes out WITHOUT BACON. I give up!
I demand the check, and waitress acknowledges her mistakes, but oh wow thanks for taking off a whole $1.50 from the check. I contemplate underpaying, which sounds awful, but I felt justified. An absolute train wreck. I end up paying check, no tip
Had a late late dinner here before our red eye to D.C. I ordered the Cobb salad which I thought was way over priced and had too much lettuce. The Chicken was overly dry and the dressing did not taste too good with the salad. I did ask for the dressing to be on the side to begin with but I'm thinking the server did not hear me. I don't think I'll come back here again.
Review Source:It's the best of the best for airport food. That's not saying much.
Food was decent, we had Calamari, Ahi Melt, Chicken Club. The food is ridiculously overpriced, but this is expected. The Ahi melt had less than 2 ounces of Ahi salad on it. When I ordered an Irish Car Bomb the bartender need to know the ingredients, and then she poured the Bailey's in the the Guinness, and a full shot of Jameson. Then she charged me for a Guinness, Bailey's, and Jameson individually. Unbelievable.
It was an okay place to wait and catch part of the game, but we will not return.
Decided to get the chop salad to go. Â This salad would be great for a rabbit. Â Lots and lots of lettuce. Â Wish I would have had nice big pieces of meat like Megan S. picture shows. Â I had little, tiny pieces of turkey, little tiny pieces of swiss cheese. They were a little hard to find in all that lettuce. There were a lot of garbanzo beans though. Â It was a huge salad but defiantly not worth the price. Â Did see a guy with a hamburger and it looked mighty fine.
Review Source:Unhappy staff = Unhappy customers
Wow.
Has anyone ever seen the SNL skit "Debbie Downer" starring Rachel Dratch? Yea, that's the vibe you get at Perry's when you pony up to the bar and feel the absolute disdain from the bartender and crew. At one point, I think the bartender was actually scowling? Someone was having a bad day....
Not only were they curt and unfriendly, but service was not efficient.
I would have given this place a solid 3 stars or possibly more because the veggie sandwich and side salad were actually pretty tasty (especially for airport fare but the overall vibe here literally killed the experience.
The other reason that I'm not impressed: Price
I know that we pay a bit of premium in airports for convenience but the prices here are a bit much - my tab was $18 for my meal and an iced tea.

Perry's is the one sit-down option for a meal in SFO Terminal 1. Having said that, they could very very easily lay it up and just be average, but Perry's was a pleasant surprise.
The menu is extremely varied, and my food came out beautifully done and in timely fashion.
Service was fantastic, even though they were busy my water glass was always full and my waitress came by occasionally to make sure all was well.
If I have a long enough layover I'd be happy to eat here again.
Perry's is just alright.
They have NO competition for sit down restaurants in this terminal, and only one other Guava and Java establishment in terms of food altogether. Â So that's just it. Â If you're thinking about eating here, you're probably already past security, so you're screwed. Â Stop reading and go into Perrys because it's either that or you are going hungry on your 5 hour flight going back east.
Anyways, the menu is A-OK. Â There's enough variety, but nothing that exciting. Â It is nice to have some TVs right there. Â The wait staff is alright when they aren't distracted, but they can get distracted easily and get really busy. Â I couldn't say that the service was really fast... we had waited so long for our food that we had to ask for it to go. Â But the waitress that night was awesome because she got it wrapped up right away and hooked us up with utensils, napkins, and the bill in a jiffy... I guess at least SHE is used to people in a rush.
We came here for a quick lunch on our way back from a work conference, and I was in the mood for some fish and chips. This place did not disappoint. The waitress left a little to be desired, but we had a good time overall.
What I didn't care for was the layout and the seemingly huge lack of space. I felt cramped, and I'm a relatively small person. I understand restaurants want to keep with their brand, but when you are in an airport, remember most people have at least one bag with them and need to put it somewhere...
Sometimes I get four star food and service at this Perry's, sometimes I get two star food and service. I guess you need to have pretty managed expectations for any food place in an airport that's not SFO's Terminal 2.
The menu here is pretty good but geez it's even more expensive than you'd expect for already overpriced airport food.
Some of the waiters are nice and expert, others are flustered and discombobulated. Once I asked if I could sit at a table if I just ordered a drink and fries and they really gave me a hard time about it. Really? Really.
Here's my biggest pet peeve: No bread. You just paid twenty bucks for a soda and salad and there's no free bread basket. That just makes no sense to me.
This is a very good place to eat regardless of if you are in an airport or not. The food is on the pricey side but it is tasty with great presentation. I think some people do not like the notion of eating in a place this fancy with airport noise and scenery.
The mac and cheese, fried chicken, and french fries are some of the best I have ever had at a restaraunt. THe food was served pipping hot. The bread pudding was the best bread pudding I have ever tasted hands down.
I came here a second time and got the freshest, best, salmon I have ever tasted. The mac and cheese was still good. The steamed vegetables tasted ok. I notice that all my selections are loaded with fats and oils. Oh well. Still a great place to eat.
As far as airport food and service goes, this place is tops! Â I get the fish and chips. Â The first time I had it, I was incredulous at how good it was; I thought it was the best I ever had. Â The second time was busier, and I think the quality suffered a bit, but the service was extremely nice anyway.
Review Source:I may be stating the obvious but the usual standard for eating and drinking in airports is not high. Mostly poor.
So, Perry's would not be a fantastic restaurant if it were downtown NY or SF. But in the SF airport, it stood out. And to be honest we had a good last meal in California. We had a long flight ahead and so we ordered steak and pinot nior.
And I have to say it wasn't bad. My steak was huge. The wine was not bad and the service was perfectly efficient and friendly.
Just ok food that's overpriced. I would imagine the downtown location is much better. Also, you can always count on terrible service at this one; be sure to ask for the check when the food comes. Why does the food take 20 minutes (even breakfast) when all the customers are on a short timeline? Unfortunately, this is the only place with decent food in the Delta terminal.
Review Source:Perry's is a nice alternative to a food court and their service is quick enough, especially if you tell them you're in a hurry. There are also TVs to watch any sports that might be on at the time
They offer decent food, but of course being in the airport, it's overpriced.
My major complaint is how they try to crowd too many tables in, so if you sit in the booths, you will likely end up wedged in the deep hole between them
I think I'm totally spoiled by the amazing airport food at JFK. Â I was severely disappointed by the selection at SFO so it seemed like Perry's was the best option in my terminal. Â It is overcrowded and the tables are super close together. Â
The food is ok. Â I had a veggie burger and asked for vegetables instead of fries on the side so they charged me $1.25 more which I thought was kind of crazy. Â
This is a fine option if you're starving before a flight and that's about it.
Food was decent. Â I ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich; it came with a ton of fries and I could only finish half the sandwich (the other half I tried to take with me as leftovers, but it died a slow, lonely death in my friend's fridge). Â I also tried the bread pudding...it tasted very similar to soggy banana-stuffed toast. Â Not worth your $7.
I guess I can't really expect too much from airport fare...but man, this section of the airport is really lacking in food choices. Â Besides Perry's, there's really only a Guava Cafe...so chances are, if you're reading this review, you're either A) my friend on yelp, or B) someone who is stuck with Perry's regardless of what I have to say.
Ate at Perry's before jumping on my flight back to NYC. Â Basically deli / restaurant. Â Had breakfast - corned beef hash with poached eggs. Â Was very good, a bit pricey but you are trapped in the airport so as expected. Â Didn't have a chance to try one of the sandwiches as it was 7AM but if it were available would have given one a shot. Â Staff gets you in and out quickly which is much appreciated given time constraints usually while dining at airport. Â Not a huge breakfast person so potentially my review and rating is somewhat biased. Â
Also, San Fran airport, at least this terminal, is hurting for good food options. Â Was surprised given it's a major airport hub, maybe there is more in other terminals - specifically those servicing international flights? Â Just not a big supporter of San Fran airport due to its lack of food options thus far I have experienced. Â Or I am misinformed?
The salami chopped salad was a good salad. Â Typical chopped salad and it was a decent size. Â I also had the clam chowder. While nothing wrong with it... it wasn't anything special. Â So it just was.
The hostess and server were both very helpful and cheery. They did a great job. Â
Big complaint was the bloody mary I ordered. This was HORRIBLE! Â Really, bad. Â It was like tabasco, gasoline, vodka. Â I seriously wonder if they forgot the bloody mary mix! Â I sent it back without issue and it wasn't on the tab.
Delta Terminal - SFO
I didn't dine in - I went to their to go counter and ate my food at my gate while waiting for my flight from SFO back to LAX.
Food was OK considering it was a sandwich which may have been sitting in their display (refridgerated) for hours. A little pricey though but that's to be expected at all airports these days. But I had to eat and I didn't want to miss boarding the flight because I opted to carry on my luggage as opposed to checking it in - so I wanted to make sure I had an overhead bin.
Anyway, back to the food. Chilled bread isn't my cup of tea. But it helped keep the veggies in the tuna sandwich crisp. Lots of tuna which was nice but still a little pricey. It was ok due to circumstances and I'd grab another again if I had to. Next time I may try dining in as their menu looked ok too.
On this part of the Delta terminal, there is just this restaurant, a couple of stores, and that Java smoothie kiosk at SFO. With that being said, I chose to eat here to kill time in between my layover from HNL to DTW. Â The place was packed, as you may well imagine and the wait was a bit too long. Nobody looked to seat you, so the waiting sucked for a while. Glad I had ample amount of time for this. The menu was limited, but large enough to fit my needs. I wanted breakfast from the red eye flight out of HNL and I wa starving.
I ordered the steak and eggs, which came out pretty good. The service was slow and it probably took them longer, due to the holiday weekend schedule. It is what it is. Also the fruit yogurt was pretty palatable as well. The prices were high, since they are in SFO and you are kind of stuck there. You dinger what you pay for, which was edible food, but it wasn't that good - for the price paid. Oh well, the stomach likes it, so that's probably a good thing. The service was tolerable at best, but again, you are stuck there at the airport, so you kind of are at the mercy of the airlines again.
The restaurant itself is pretty small, along with a bar and about maybe 20 tables. The sever asked what time my flight was, so that they could tush the order, if need be. Thought that was something cool.
C
Was here for breakfast on an early flight out. My experience was un-eventful, which is exactly what I like when I'm traveling. Â The server was quick to get our order and have it ready quickly as well as he prepared the check early so we'd be able to get out. Â Which is exactly what needs to happen.
I typically always let the server know our time constraint when they first walk up which gives them an Idea of what they need to do to make you happy.
It's airport food for all intensive purposes and one of the only table service places at the gates.
Does this place know what service is? I don't think they do!
The only saving grace about this place was the host... who tried to make up for my server's shortfalls.
I must've sat at my table for a solid 6 minutes before my waitress finally came to me. Ordered. Easy enough.
Food was prompt, but then again, I ordered pre-made clam chowder, so how tough could it be? A bit on the salty side, I downed my iced tea, hoping for a refill.
Where is my refill? Where is my server?
Host to the rescue! Ice tea refilled.
Eat more salty chowder. Need more tea. No server to be had.
This place isn't THAT big... just imagine what if this was a normal sized restaurant.
Thirsty, but over it, I just wanted to leave. That meant getting my cheque. Oh dear. That was as much of a chore as trying to get more iced tea.
I should have gotten a take away sandwich.
:::EMERGENCY BURGER SITUATION::::
If you're flying out of Terminal 1 at SFO, this is sort of your only option for a non fast-food meal. Actually maybe any meal not involving soda, trail mix and candy bars at Hudson News? I'm not sure. I made a beeline when I saw it and never looked back.
Backstory: I made some bad decisions involving the bar Butter on Thursday night. Mainly, going in the first place. Secondly, staying for 3 hours. Thirdly, drinking things that taste like suntan lotion and serious regret.
Long story short, by the time I reached the sort-of-extremely-boring (but...on the positive side, rarely crowded) Terminal 1 at 2pm...I had a creeper hangover and was staring down a middle seat on a 6 hour flight back to New York.
Emergency Burger Situation.
I was quickly seated, equipped with a menu, water and Diet Coke (thank you nice ladies, THANK YOU)...and then slumped back into my seat to peruse the menu. 12 seconds later I had the burger in mind that I wanted.
Was it amazing? No. Did it arrive hot? Yes. and not wrapped in paper. The veggies (tomatoes, lettuce, onions) were a little sad looking and the fries a bit limp, but hells bells yelpers...I needed them badly, so I wasn't about to judge. The egg bun was actually quite good...
Granted it was $15 (ouch)...so, yeah. I mean if you can solve your ails with $15 and make it through entire coast-to-coast flight without needing any gross airline food (Delta specializes in some of the worst) then I think it's actually a pretty darn good solution!
The only bar/restaurant that is "sit down" in T1...so for those of us not lucky enough to fly Virgin, et al...Perry's will surely do. The staff was extremely friendly and the service very good. I'd certainly make another visit.
And don't go to Butter the day before a flight.
WOW..... I wish I knew about this before I got on the airplane. Â I would have happily paid Delta $15 for a snack pack before I would give $1 for the breakfast sandwich from this place.
Seriously... how do you mess up a breakfast sandwich of eggs, Canadian bacon, cheese and wheat toast? Â I have no idea how you do it... but this place has no problem delivering the most bland breakfast sandwich I have ever had! Â I saw with my own eyes that all of the ingredients listed WERE on my plate...
I would pass on this - even if your flight has no service at all. Â Wait until you can get some food.
We got to SFO about 2 hours before our flight was leaving, so hubby and I decided to try this place for dinner. It was right across the hall from our gate, so we figured we could easily dash over there.
Our waitress was nice. She took our drink orders and then came back with our drinks to take our dinner orders. I ordered a half spinach salad and hubby ordered a sandwich.
Then we waited.
And waited.
And waited some more.
Then our flight was starting to board, so we asked the waitress to box up our dinners. She brought them to us a few minutes later. So we paid our check and got on the plane.
Once we were at cruising altitude, we whipped out our boxes and ate. My spinach salad was pretty tasty. With pieces of apple and candied walnuts. Yum. I stole a few chips from hubby and they were pretty tasty as well. A little greasy, but they are supposed to be hand made so I kind of expect that.
Overall, the food was pretty good, however, the service was extremely slow. Something that is unwise in an airport when people have flights to catch. It's overpriced, but it's in an airport so it's just expected I guess.
I might come back, but I'm hoping next time the service is not so slow.
Flying Delta (also Hawaiian, Frontier, and Northwest airlines) means flying Terminal 1, which has Zero interesting food options.
Perry's is the most unique eatery not named TGI Fridays in T1, they also have a restaurant out in the Marina. They serve Italian-American comfort food eats with the typical airport gouge. $24 for spaghetti and meatballs? Ouch, does it also come with KY? (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/Vy4X5QED3ofJumhjPAkvUA?select=TGaVQcnwL04VIdB30zA6xA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
Â
* PERRY's BURGER - ($12) -  Just ok, nothing special. Came on a brioche bun with the standard toppings; red onion, lettuce, and tomato. The patty was standard, Niman Ranch? The fries were of the frozen variety, Costco? (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/Vy4X5QED3ofJumhjPAkvUA?select=1ct-ClNqrCOp3DQymlWViA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
* VEGGIE BURGER ($12) Tasted like a Boca patty with avocado. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/Vy4X5QED3ofJumhjPAkvUA?select=ZxwJgaPuGoIz32PakPWogQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
Surprisingly, for airport take out food they're pretty slow. it took about 15-20 minutes to get the burgers. I could only imagine how long it would take to get a drink at their bar.
