Nothing helps soothe a cold like chicken noodle soup (jewish penicillin) or Pho. Today Pho will do the trick. I've been going to this restaurant since it opened and before then when it was under different management. They still serve excellent Pho with generous meat portions and intensly flavorful broth. It's BYOB and leaves you craving for more the next day. I usually also get the Cha Gio but since I'm under the weather today, I opted for just the soup. Thank you Pho Minh's!

We've been eating here a couple times a week since we discovered it.  I recommend the crispy spring rolls, the pho, the chicken sandwich, and grilled pork on vermicelli or on rice - all awesome.

My girlfriend and I adventured out here because we were craving pho on a cold Sunday. It was a bit of a drive for us but worth it. Both of us ordered a variation of the beef pho with veggies added. I would definitely recommend  adding the veggies, they really rounded out the pho. Got the bubble tea, which was....interesting. I wish this place was closer to my house.

We never had vietnamese food before.  The server spent a lot of time trying to explain the different menu items. It was still hard to understand.  The service was excellent and food seemed very fresh.  We had both the unfried and fried spring rolls.  The unfried ones were really good. They contained shredded lettuce and shrimp.  We had a beef broth with sliced beed.  It was flavorful and a stir fry.  Nice family-oriented, low key place. Also, it was inexpensive.

Ordered Extra large Beef noodle soup (p1) bowl and it is super good. Price is surprisingly low: only 6.95 to 7.95 for most of the entries. chicken wing is great too. The waiter, on the other hand, did not do a very good job. Never come to fill water after the first time.

It's hard to find a good pho place (let alone a Vietnamese restaurant that has more than a 2-page menu in NJ), so we were pretty surprised to find this restaurant pop up on our last-minute-dinner google hunt. IN LINDEN, of all places!

    Pho:
If you're used to authentic pho broth from Queens/Brooklyn/Chinatown or L.A., you may not be impressed with this location. I've been searching for a decent pho replacement in NJ on days when I don't want to trek all the way to NY.
PHO HANA in Palisades Park, NJ (Korean-owned) has the the most similar broth to NY/L.A (slightly gritty, lots of flavor from hours of stewing beef/pork bone marrow, etc).
I was really looking forward to their pho, since it'd be awesome to have one go-to pho place in every NJ county, but I wasn't fussed:

-Ordered P1, not enough meat, tendon, or tripe
-Beef had a different texture to what I'm used to
-The broth was sweeter than savory. I tasted the anise, cardamom, and cloves. I asked for fish sauce to neutralize it but even their fish sauce was sweet. Of course, the sweetness and spice overkill might be a plus for some.
-No cilantro, no basil -- just beansprouts, jalapeno slices, and lemon.

With all of that said, it's unfair to judge a Vietnamese restaurant solely on their pho - especially when their menu is massive. I'll give it 4 stars because the other options on the menu looked delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was comfortable.

I'm looking forward to trying other dishes. After all, it IS a nice break from the overly saturated population of Portuguese BBQ, Chinese takeout, fried chicken shacks, and fast-food chains in the area.

    UPDATE:

Fried spring rolls: they are like crack. Pretty much the same as Pho Bang in NYC.

Young chow fried rice: not greasy, simple fried rice with egg, peas, and carrots. I'm not big on devouring a bunch of carbs, but this was a tasty meal in itself.

Grilled beef rolls: Meh. Definitely made fresh. I was expecting beef-ball texture, but grilled. This was literally a piece of flank beef rolled up, and grilled. These rolls were definitely marinated in a buttload of lemongrass and brown sugar for ages. Do not order this if you hate lemongrass. I was born and raised around various forms of Thai cuisines, so I can't stand lemongrass. It didn't even taste like beef. It tasted like herbs. Too aromatic for me. Next time, I'll try the grilled beef balls or beef cubes. And if those are also shoved with 10 lbs of lemongrass, I will cry.

Banh mi: Holy shit. Crusty, airy french bread, grilled pork, fresh cilantro, pickled cabbage, cucumbers, carrots, a little bit of mayo. We ordered one chicken and one pork to have for lunch the next day. After a night's stay in the fridge, 40 seconds in the microwave, and a few minutes in the toaster oven, it looked and tasted just as fresh as the night before. Where the hell in Linden do they get their baguettes?
WARNING: there are certain parts of the pork that are spicy.

Crispy deep fried egg noodles with seafood, vegetables, in gravy: a typical Asian-gringo dish. It was very good, but not very Vietnamese or interesting. My German-Dutch boyfriend ordered this because he wasn't feeling adventurous. We still ate the whole plate.

Nice, clean place. Friendly service & very good food. Would definitely recommend it.

Found this place through Yelp. Was craving Pho, but ordered some other dishes. All of it was good. We had enough food for 4 (some leftovers) & all of it (including the price) was amazing. What a find!

I've visited recently again, and "it looks like" the owners changed hands again... this time for the better.
The food is good (as good as most other Vietnamese restaurants)
    and the service improved.

Place is still mostly empty, and quiet, which is works great if you wish to have a conversation w/o raising your voice :)

Pho Minh's  deserves to be the frequent spot for Asian food lovers. The restaurant is very clean. The ambiance is  pretty spacious, very cozy and nicely decorated, not the cheesy style you see at some other restaurants. The owner and the wait staff are friendly and helpful.  The food is very tasty and all dishes are more than up to par. Oh did I tell you they have Bubble Tea, which I almost can never get at other Asian restaurants. Prices are also reasonable. A big bowl of Pho Xe Lua-Famous Vietnamese beef noodle soup, for example costs a bit less than $7. You can't beat this price really, and can get very full. If you are a guy, of course bigger than a 100-pound girl like me, maybe you will need a second bowl of Pho to get full :) All in all, I recommend Pho Minh for it has a combination of good food, frequently absent on the menu at other restaurants-Bubble Tea, friendly and helpful staff, good price and great ambiance. I hope your visit to Pho Minh will be pleasant as all of my visits to it :)

I went with others who are regulars. We all ordered pho, summer rolls, and the guys had banh mi, too. They all love the place, but even they said that the broth was kind of bland. Normally, it's better. They also have bubble tea available. Maybe next time it'll be better.

This place is near my work and I introduced viet cuisine to my co-workers.

When we first came here a year ago, it was the place 'where the triad eat'. Asian men with sunglasses and suits came here for lunch. Nowadays, it's more of a place normal people. The pho is good and the service is good. I always rush my co-workers to order everything at once to beat the other table's order.

The bahn mi was a to-go item only. Still haven't tried it.

Service is nice. One time, we were the only table and the owner/ older guy enjoyed telling us his business. He was very attentive but I was trying to enjoy lunch and 'The Devil wears Prada" on TV! So, minus 1 star there!

My boyfriend and I moved here a week ago and have eaten here twice already.  QUITE good.  I had Pho and Bunh, and my boyfriend has also had the Pho (seafood) and Bo Luc Lac.  All were very, very good, filling, and reasonably priced.  We look forward to a Thai milk bubble tea at the finish of the meal, as they are made very well.  Service was excellent.  We look forward to going back VERY soon.

The cleanest vVietnamese restaurant I've been to.

The broth is also the best and healthiest one I've had.  Huge bowl.  I got the grilled pork chop and it was super tasty.  we took home the chicken bahn mi and had it for breakfast this morning.  Oh my, can't wait to go back.

Service is really good... The owner really cares about their customers and it shows.

Street parking but plenty of them.

You can find street parking and it is very easy to find.

Pho is usually the main attraction at Vietnamese family restaurants, but for dinner, I opted to try three other dishes instead, the grilled lemongrass chicken ($7.50), the stir-fried curry chicken and onion ($9.95), and the sugarcane shrimp rolls ($14.95). Everything was edible, but nothing wowed me.
The lemongrass dish was a chewed-up-looking piece of grilled, boneless chicken over plain white rice, garnished with cucumber and unripe tomato slices. It is described on the menu as "spicy", but it wasn't. The noac cham dipping sauce was watery, as well.

The curry chicken was a generous portion, but was overcooked and bland. A pinch or two of salt would have gone a long way here.

The grilled shrimp paste was not served wrapped around the sugarcane stalks, but sliced into strips with the cane off to the side. Some of it was rubbery, the rest tender, but again, it was not as flavorful as I would have liked. I had to douse it with the squeeze bottle of tuong goi cuon (bean sauce) to make it interesting.

Would I still come back here to try the pho or some of the other dishes? Perhaps for lunch. If I have a more favorable experience, I will revise my rating accordingly.

Came here 2 wks with my bf after getting my citizenship (woohoo). Really like the interior, clean and simple AND the fish tank they have is same as the one I have at home! Lol.

It was around 2:30-3:00 so we were the only ones. A young girl was our waitress and I think the only one working at the time cuz I did not remember seeing anyone. She was very friendly and unlike most places i've been to, she was visible the entire meal. Their jasmine tea smelled SO good. They are not cheap with their utensils; non-disposable FTW!

Now on to the food. We ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls to share. Fried perfectly crispy and they are the biggest I've ever eaten I believe. I also ordered #2 for myself and my bf got beef with rice( forgot what it's called). Yes, the pho was a little sweet for my liking but it was cooked perfectly so I'll forgive them. All the ingredients were fresh and I rly mean FRESH! No dead cilantro leaves, no dried out jalapeño peppers or bean sprouts. I was very impressed. Total came out to be around $25 if I remember correctly.

I would DEFINITELY go again if Im ever in the area too bad I live far away :/

I gotta say..."Thank you" Jersey Yelppies

I don't know much about Linden, but wanted to try something different, and I found this, and is located on the location that I will probably never around

I pulled up, parking was easy, can't really see inside.
But before I walk in, you boyz/girls know the feeling you about to walk into some nasty Chinatown restaurant with the dirty wet floor and the waiter wears the yellow that suppose to be a white shirt? lol

Well, that was my feeling, but soonest I walked in, I was very impressed
The place is nice and clean, not big, good for seating approx 50-75 people, great for private party too

I also like it they have plenty of space, and not like most restaurants here in Manhattan, soonest you got out your seat, you bump into someone sitting behind you or the stupid waiter kept bumping into back of your chair, not here.

When I was there, the place was not very busy, the guy at the front desk I believe his name is Mark, since I'm not a huge fan of the Vietnamese food, I opened the menu I have no idea what "GA" with the upside down question mark on top of the G pronounce GgggA? I don't even have a upside down question mark on my key board. lol

So, Mark was very nice, he took his time and explained some of the dishes to me, I order this Pork Chop, 1 egg and 1 Chinese sausage over rich, half order fried roll, look like the Chinese egg roll, but look and tested much better, and also couple of those shrimp mei fun roll, which I have no idea what they call it, I know I'm suck at those names. lol

After I placed my orders, Mark said to me "Please have a seat, will be ready in a minute, "would you like anything to drink"?

That is a very impressive customers service, many businesses don't realize all these small touch makes customers feel more comfortable and showing that you care for them, even if you don't, but at least pretend you do. lol

I got home after 20 minutes drive, and the food still tasted really good, both fried and shrimp roll are freaking awesome

I tried few Vietnamese restaurants here and there, and their shrimp roll always disappointed, I found many Vietnamese restaurants always rolled their shrimp roll way ahead of time, and leave it in the fridge, so it dry it up the skin, tested like crap, but not here, last night shrimp roll was really good, fresh, and don't taste like been in the fridge at all

    Fried rolls.....
    Yum yum yum.
Sorry Chinese Egg Roll, I think I may have to break up with you, Vietnamese fried roll really know what I'm looking for. lol

I'm hungry just sitting here thinking about it

Oh, one more thing I almost forgot
While I was sitting there waiting for my food, I over heard this guy name Bill talking to the customers, asking how is everything, asking them is it their first time etc
Bill said he was the manager

Once again to all restaurants owners, the little personal touch

The Pho Minh's may not be your luxury 5 stars Four Seasons restaurant with the waiter wearing tuxedo using the $50 wine glass to serve your water

To me is not all about what the restaurant use or what the waiter wear, customer service are very important.
Cleanest, Customer service, Manners, Taste of the food, Appreciation

Pho Minh's got all 5, that's why they are getting a 5 stars from me

Keep up the good work guys

If you are in the area, make sure you stop by

The area is kinda iffy.  Restaurant is really clean.  Pho, a little bit on the sweet side.  Summer rolls, really good.  Spring rolls, needs to be crispier.  I need mint with my spring rolls, instead I got some cilantro.  BBQ pork chops has a weird marinade, but still good.  The hot sauce dispenser is really sticky.  Man that's so nasty.  Don't think I will be going back.  Not good enough for the drive.

Okay after the reviews I read I said lets go and try this place. The way to see if they are any good is always the Pho Tai! We ordered spring rolls which is just like any other place, the egg rolls now that was good here. So far so good. Then the Pho came out, it was delicious and plentiful. Most other Viet restaurants skimp on the noodle but here they are very generous and the service was great. Yes we are a fan of this place and will be back.

Had a belated Father's Day celebration with my husband and son at this place tonight.  Have been raring to try this restaurant for many months now since I read from the reviews here that the food and the service are great!  And I'm glad that I was not disappointed!

Though the place is small it is clean and cozy.  The service is quick and cheerful.  And the foods taste really good though this is the first time we tried Vietnamese cuisine!  For dessert we tried 3 flavors of bubble teas... the taro, strawberry and honeydew... all were superb though the taro was the best!!!

We will definitely be back... and will spread the word to our friends to try this awesome place!!!

The beef broth for the pho is just amazing... it's simple, clean but most importantly, it's authentic.  (I can taste some of the extra touches that I don't normally taste from other restaurants... i.e. cinnamon sticks, several different kinds of Chinese herbs - typical of real homemade soups).  The recipe for the broth has been in the family for 3 generations already (owner said so) and definitely taste it! The veggie sides that comes with the pho usually includes cilantro but this place... wants to make sure you feel good after eating, gives you culantro instead.  "Culantro = Vietnamese use as a medicinal purposes... it helps the body eliminate the grease".  The hot sauce is another home made item that has a nice balance of spicy and tangy... perfect for the beef slices.

The spring roll - very authentic, tasty and fresh
Steamed rice roll with wood ear - very soft, the fish sauce (homemade) is delightful
Pho - the beef tendon is yummy, gelatinous goodness, the beef flank is home marinade then slice thin (vs. most places buy the already sliced thin beef from markets)
Salted lemon + club soda drink - home pickled lemon so no preservatives ... just yummy goodness

They also have bubble teas if that is something you like...

The food is great, the service is friendly and helpful... BYOB and it's open 7 days a week and for those lives in NJ... that's amazing!!!!

This place is like the pickle juice to my whiskey...which is surprisingly good (order a round next time you go out, I know you're curious).

Simple, clean broth with the gelatinous deliciousity of tendon and meaty brisket really hit the spot after a serious hangover.  The banh mi was pretty good too...I devoured the crusty bread, cool Viet slaw, and thinly grilled pork along with a bowl of pho and I was ready to get back to being awesome.  You should eat here if you like being awesome.

This is my current go-to place for Viet food.  Spring rolls, grilled pork chop over rice, and the #1 pho is consistently good.

Don't know why but they're empty most of the time, I guess it's good since I never have to wait.  I think they get alot of takeout orders.  But come out and support this place, I hope they stick around for a long time.

I travel a lot of work and I love Viet food.  Lucky for me I travel a lot to San Francisco which is like a haven for Viet food lovers.  I found the pho here to be wonderfully rich but a tad on the salty side.  I always order beef pho with all of the meat, tripe and tendon.  Overall I thought this place was great and will definitely check back with them for another lunch while on the road.

I was introduced to Pho because of this amazing establishment.  I had been meaning to come here with the BF for some time and one night during our Asian Food week (yes, we had a different Asian cuisine every night), we finally gave it a try.  Our waitress was very nice and patient.  I was a bit clueless when it came to Pho.

I ordered the grilled chicken PHO and WOW was I surprised!!! It was so delicious. The noodles were soft and the broth was amazing. The grilled chicken is seasoned perfectly.  I love the concept of composing my own Pho based on my taste buds.  Pho is perfect for those rainy nights.

Another great addition to there menu is the bubble tea.  If your familiar with Linden, you know that you cannot find bubble tea anywhere in this town, but guess what.....Pho Minh's does!!!!  Not to many people know about this secret.  I always order the strawberry bubble tea and when I ask for extra tapioca balls, the waitress gladly gives me extra without charge. They are so nice!!!  I wish nothing but the best for this business!

Hmmmm, never thought I would give a place a 5 before.

This place is awesome...I think there was a week where I had it every other day. I definitely have their strawberry bubble tea everyday.

The thing I always get, the grilled chicken pho, is very good! I ordered it for take out once and they packaged it in such an awesome fashion! It's such a complex dish! It really meant a lot to me that they would be so caring with it.

I mean, I can't express this...I got my order, took it out of the bag and there were several different containers and I got to mix it all together myself...!

    It was awesome.

But yeah, food is great...service is awesome (and quick)...and I wish this place the best!

It's kinda nice having it to myself with my GF though!

The pho itself... I would have to give it a 3.

But why am I giving this place a 4?
Because it is the only decent (actually might be THE only) pho place in the area.

It's close to work, so i visit it frequently with coworkers.
The employees, gentleman and a woman are very nice.

    The service is usually quick.
Now... why would I give this place only a 3 for their pho?
    1. No cilantro. Or minimal cilantro.
    2. Meat is a little stingy and some other yelpers have pointed out.
    3. More broth than substance... Especially if you order P1.

Not my favorite pho ... but definitely would revisit frequently on a rainy bone-chilling day when I  need some nice hot broth.

Takes VISA, MASTER, and DISCOVER. NO AMEX.

Pho Minh's has ruined every other Vietnamese restaurant for me. I.....I can no longer return to any other viet restaurant but Pho Minh's. Pho Minh's is TOO delicious!

The west coasters have got it right: this is the best place for authentic, fresh Vietnamese cuisine on the east coast and it's still a local secret.

The menu at Pho Minh's is extensive and offers well beyond the typical Vietnamese dishes. The Pho list may be sufficient for most but one should definitely take advantage of the diverse offering of many hard-to-find Vietnamese dishes.

It was at Pho Minh's that I tasted Bo Tai Chanh (vietnamese beef carpaccio) for the first time. Imagine thin slices of soft, tender beef flavored with lemon and sugar, topped with onions and aromatic herbs, garnished with crushed peanuts. I never knew beef could taste so soft and flavorful in this arrangement. For me, this dish alone warrants a visit to Pho Minh's.

    Yet there's more.

The asparagus, crab soup (sup mang tay cua) is another dish I really enjoyed. Imagine crunchy green slices of asparagus with a generous serving of real crab meat in a sweet chicken broth, egg-drop soup. It was this dish that really impressed me with the quality of the ingredients. Real pieces of crab in an appetizer for a good price? I'm a believer.

Dessert? Oh you still got room for dessert because you're a fatty like me? Okay, get the flan then. It's not too sweet and perfectly smooth like a panna cotta custard.

Did I already mention all the prices are incredibly reasonable? I feel like un-learning how to cook and no longer buying groceries as an excuse to eat at Pho Minh's every day. Sooo good.

Having last had Pho on the West Coast, I finally found myself tempted by a restaurant a short distance away from my hotel. Good thing I did, for the dinner was excellent.

Pho Minh's is a small, rather simply designed shop in the heart of Linden, not too far from the train station and with street parking, although there is a somewhat shady public lot out back. The design is functional but working, with chop sticks, spoons, sri racha (and other sauces) and napkins on each table for convenience.

The food was excellent. I started with the summer rolls with peanut sauce. Wrapped in ricepaper and not fried, these tasted very fresh and made a nice contrast to the thick sauce. Very good starter.

For the main I chose the Pho Tai, all beef filet. The menu does feature a variety of more exotic choices, including tendon, but, with apologies to Tony Bourdain, I am not quite to that point yet. The pho itself came in a large bowl, certainly enough for a dinner portion, steaming hot and with the usual condiments (sprouts, lime, basil, jalapenos). Mixing it all together, you had a very nicely textured soup of beef broth. Extremely tasty and very warming, even on a warm day like this.

    An excellent little spot!

Why no love for Vietnamese food?  Chinese, Japanese and Thai restaurants can be found in nearly every town but Vietnamese restaurants have sorely been lacking.  So when I heard about this restaurant I was excited to try it out.

We ordered Banh Xeo for an appetizer.  I'm not quite sure how to describe it and even less sure of how we were supposed to eat it.  However, it was tasty!  And that's all that really matters.

We each ordered Pho - my husband got shrimp and I got beef tendon/beef fillet.  I liked the beef fillet but wasn't a fan of the tendon.  That's more of a personal preference than the fact that it wasn't good.  I thought I'd try something different but it just wasn't my thing.  The add-ons they give you with the pho are extensive - limes, sprouts, basil.  That being said, the broth was lacking in flavor.  Luckily we had some chili-garlic sauce at home that we could throw in to give it some punch.  But the portions were substantial, definitely a good bang for your buck.  I'm looking forward to returning and trying some of their other dishes.
