My husband and I have been customers of Mike's for close to 10 years! Â This is by far the best pizza we have ever had. Â We recently moved away and we find ourselves craving Mike's delicious pizza's and cheesy bread sticks. Â Nothing compares! Â His sauce is AMAZING! I recently drove an hour (there and back) to pay him a visit and pick up our usual order and we all ate so much we were hurting! Â I don't know what we will ever do if he closes! Â Its worth trying...you will be hooked! Â Mike is a nice guy and he really know what a true pie is! Â Once you try it you will be a long time loyal customer like we are.
Review Source:Let me just say this: Â if I had to choose between this place and Papa's Pizza Place further down Janes Avenue, then Pizza Italiano wins by a landslide. Â The pizza is definitely of a higher quality - but that doesn't mean it's the best!
I do wish that this was a little more than just an ordering counter; it seems that decent sit-down pizza places are hard to come by.
At least here, everything is made fresh. Â I mean, you walk in to place an order, and they start making your pizza by hand right in front of you. Â In about fifteen minutes, it's piping hot and ready to go.
I met the guy running the place, and he seemed like a nice guy...until he started ranting about how bad the area was. Â I'm not kidding, the guy's a bit of a racist. Â I'm not even going to repeat the things he said, but let me just say this: he was unhappy to be the white minority.
Just based on that experience alone, I've avoided this place ever since. Â I'm not going to support someone who thinks that way, even if they are just down the street. Â
So, why give this place two stars and not just one, you ask? Â Because even though I disagree with the owner, he still delivers to our complex. Â The owners of Papa's Pizza Place will not. Â Their actions speak louder than words.
I've been wanting to try Italiano since we moved into the area. They had great reviews here and are within walking distance of my house. I really wanted to love it...I didn't.
I can be, admittedly, a bit of a pizza snob. Having grown up on the south side, I have a specific taste when it comes to pizza & unfortunately this didn't fit the bill for me. It wasn't the worst pizza I've ever had, but it was far from the best.
I would get it again only if I were in a time crunch as it was done amazingly fast, but for taste & quality, I'll look elsewhere.
BEST PIZZA IN THE BURBS HANDS DOWN!!!!
The first time I went in this place was the day I moved into my new apartment. No one wants to cook their 1st night at a new pad so naturally I decided that I wanted pizza. Much to my surprise this strip-mall treasure was the closest pizza joint around. I called and ordered a pie and the man on the phone stated "I'll have it ready for you in fif-DEEN minutes"
I was excited to hear the south-side Chicago accent, usually meaning authenticity. When I arrived to pick up my pie, there was a guy who seemed to be in his 50's standing alone behind the counter. He greeted me with a nice hello and asked if I had ever had Pizza Italiano before. I said no...he simply said..."You'll be back!"...sure as shit I was back a few days later.
The pizza is like that 1 food that you will just keep picking at as long as it sits in front of you...knowing that you are full you still keep eating...and eating...and eating.
The only thing that I dislike is the spinach...a little wet at Pizza Italiano, kind of makes things a bit slimy.
This is by far one of the tastiest pizzas I have ever had. I couldn't drag my son away from the table, I thought he was going to explode. I wanted the thin crust, but forgot to order it thin so it came medium crust. I was not disappointed in the least. I tried the sausage and pepperoni, it was great! I can't wait to go back for the thin crust. It is a bit far for delivery to my house in Naperville, but for that flavor, I will make the drive.
