Pound West Oakland

Seemed like a good place. I sure miss going to the Pound SF. But I am sure this place will be just as fun. It was cool seeing some old faces and checking out the place.

It's been 5 long years, almost to the day, that Pound SF closed its doors... and  they are back (this time in West Oakland)!

I attended the opening night show.  For this show, only one of the stages/rooms was used and is open for business right now.  Before entering this room, there's a huge parking lot that looks to be converted into an outdoor patio type of space.  There was a bar out there, food, a few places to sit, and plenty of room for all you smokers.  

The show itself took place just inside the double doorway, into a room similar in size to Thee Parkside, although with way more lighting and a larger stage.  There's a bar in the back with awesome bartenders and the room opened up back there to the outside again, where all of the bands had their merchandise tables.

I was given a quick tour of the rest of the place and shown what the Pound West Oakland will eventually have once all of the stages and rooms are built and finished -- an outdoor stage and a much bigger indoor stage.  The first "real" show is December 6 so it seems they have until then to get it together and bring back what we all have missed for the last 5 years... THE POUND!

Watch out Fillmore, Warfield, Regency, New Parish, Metro, Slim's, etc.... this place is going to be amazing!
