Grid Iron Pub ... Nice clean taps & fresh beer.  The food & the wait staff need some training & they should not be allowed to smoke outside & then serve food.

Went here tonight because my friend was having a birthday gathering and she wanted a place with karaoke.

I had originally planned on staying all night but I got called into work tomorrow so I had to cut the evening short -- thus, I only wanted to get one drink, and it would have been something simple like vodka with cranberry (I don't drink beer).

I only had three dollars in cash on me, so I went to the bar to try and find out if they had a minimum on cards and place an order.

There were three bartenders behind the bar -- two of them didn't really appear to be doing anything and the other was talking to some customers at the bar.

I was ignored for several minutes (and also watched the bartender who was talking to customers down his own beer) until one of them finally came over and told me that they have a $10 minimum on cards. Not wanting to buy more than one drink or be charged fees at the ATM in the bar, I opted not to get anything -- they lost my business tonight.

I started making this bar a regular place to get lunch to go since I work down the street. They have a nice selection of typical bar menu food. My favorite item is the buffalo chicken salad which is basically a house salad with buffalo chicken on top. I also had the chicken parm and the portions were gigantic. They have good beer on tap and the service is decent.

    Surprise surprise surprise!

Well, from the street, it is noticeable. Not in a bad way or good way, it is just there. It is a Bar and Grill. But from a food perspective, there is nothing that says, 'Eat Here.'

I was in the area during lunch time. I had often seen there sign stating they made breakfast, but was too afraid to stop. So lunch seemed like a good time to check this place out, you know, just in case.

So in through the doors and you come face to face with a very large bar running north to south. There are booths along the front and the 'tall' tables available all around. They have the wide screens along the ceiling with all of the sports. There beet selection is really nice and they do the 'keep the glass' Tuesdays. The lady running the bar is also the waitress and was doing a great job of running both. By the way, the bar was full of customers. Some in business casual and some blue collar workers that look like they were ready for a beer.

So I look at the menu and it is fairly short. Burgers, wraps, apps & salads. So I wanted a burger. They had two. Classic and fully loaded. You could also build your own. So I was not sure at this point. I mean, 2 burgers? Well, I decided on the create your own. Blank pallet and then .50 cents per item. So I went with cheese and bacon. Because after all, it you are concerned about how your health might fare after eating someplace, add bacon. It will either kill you or do what bacon usually does, make it all taste better.

Anyway, the burger came out on a nice soft grilled Kaiser roll with heaps of freshly cooked bacon. The cheese was nice and melted. The fries were steak cut, hot and crisp.

After the fog lifted and my head got centered, I started to look around. Everyone was eating something different and it all looked really good. There were lunch regulars for god sake. This was a real lunch spot with a small but really well done menu that allows them to focus on quality. Greek Diners, take note.

Anyway, I an going to say that this is a mighty fine burger place for lunch. I will go back now that I am not afraid.

So is it as good as Stanley Burger? Wrong class. Is it as good as Lux, it is better as far as I am concerned. My total bill was $8.00. I did drink water I must add. But it was a very respectable burger and the place is nice and clean, the staff is friendly and the beer menu is great. Hard to beat.

After bowling, and not wanting to end the night yet, we were faced with the challenge of finding something to do/somewhere to go. everyone being iphone-less... we resorted to asking one of our gps where the nearest bars were. Prata came up, wasn't to far down the road, and sounded like it had potential. We show up and get out of the car, thinking... hmm... are we sure we really want to do this? It wasn't so bad once we got in, but it was apparently someone's b-day (according to the sign outside)... and we couldn't shake the feeling like our big group strolling in was somehow crashing something already going on. But, we thankfully were not refused service and were able to lay claim on some tables out of the way in the back. It was a decent enough place to chill for a couple drinks. We were too slow on getting up a game of pool going and lost the table to a couple other guys. Typical New England sports bar decor... Pats, Celtics, and Sox jerseys hanging on the wall (felt great being back in NE!!) This place saved us the embarrassment of admitting to ourselves that we're getting older and can't stay out as late as we could 'back in the day'... so thank you Prata and to whoever's birthday it was... hope it was great... and hope you didn't mind too much that we crashed!
