Love Love Love. Its a Local Watering Hole. I enjoy it. Its fun, Its relaxing and The service is great, Shout out to Linzi! I like going here because after the first time, you feel like you have alot of friends. They remember your name, They remember your stories and the food is alway Legitament.
Bravo. Now if only I had a day off to go have a beer and your turkey burger :)
Good place to go to to watch sports. There are televisions everywhere! So if you want to hold a conversation with someone, I suggest you eat outside or dine where there aren't such distractions. If you want to grub on greasy goodness and watch the Giants beat their opponents, add Pudley's to your sports bar roundup.
The turkey burger is not too shabby and the fries disappeared off my plate faster than my fellow lunch buddies blinked. All in all, a satisfying lunching experience.
i was in the area looking for apartments and decided to check it out. Â right on el camino. Â very blue collar. Â quite a contrast to the uncomfortably white and stuffy main street san carlos just behind it. Â a little expensive, but portions are large.
hawaiian burger was huge. Â bun was above average quality with sesame seeds. Â patty was fresh, thick, and juicy. Â ham was tender. Â pineapple and teriyaki sauce added a nice juiciness and sweetness. Â tomatoes and lettuce were fresh. Â fries were natural cut, crispy, and not overly starchy.
all and all a good experience except for drunk imbecile that wanted to start a fight with me because he felt i cut in line at the bathroom. Â but, thats not the restaurants fault.
Good beer, good "bar" food, friendly staff.
If you're looking for a nice beer selection, good bar food (hey, it's not about the food) and easy seating, this is the place.  All sorts of folks stop by  including families, community rec leagues, people getting off from work.  The missing demographic:  hipsters.  As Martha would say, "That's a good thing."
For those with kids - there's a kid's menu.
For those who don't have kids - they let adults order the kid's meals! Â How cool is that? Â Fewer calories and save some $.
Recommend!
Yummyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My gma, her best friend and I go here every so often. I always look forward to my mushroom burger and a tall glass of Bud Light with lime!!!!!
Seeing as how they have specials during game-time, I'd like to go during a Giants game. Kick ass food and a kick ass game!!!! I just got excited all over again! Â Go Giants!!! :)

I lived on the Peninsula in the mid-1980s and I occasionally stop by to say Hi. This time around I decided to check out San Carlos for dinner options, while Gayle and her friend were enjoying a meal together in Downtown San Mateo. They were at B Street and Vine, and I wasn't invited!
My Sunday Culinary Journey in Exile reminded me of A Tale of Two Cities. Laurel Avenue was alive with upscale restaurants and boutiques frequented by happy folks with lots of disposable income. I was fine with that, except that my first choice (The Refuge) was closed and places like The Cask just seemed too precious for my current mood. I returned to the El Camino Real and literally Yelped with joy to see a Pudley's, older blue collar feel and all.
When I lived in Belmont, there was a Pudley's here and in Redwood City. I spent many an evening "down the hill", happily single and with my Gold Mine Special "Date". Â That would be a burger with a 12 oz. Pattie, Jack Cheese and French Roll, Fries, and with a 23 oz. Beer to wash it down. It's a wonder that my cholesterol, blood pressure, and weight is still in relatively good shape.
This time around I went for a Blue Cheese Burger (with Thick Cut Fires) and a whole fisted 32 ounce glass of Racer 5 IPA. The Burger was huge and manly and gave me visions of Rene C. and his unrequited Bro-mance sharing some quality time here (with me discretely observing).
It was all very delicious and I left waddling out, and in the best sober way possible. The only downside is that since I promised my MD that I'd cut down on red meat, my next burger will easily be at least a few weeks away.
This place would have a higher review from me, excellent service, excellent beer selection, and excellent bar food. Â But the only reason I go to bars to eat and hang out is to watch a game. Â
Come on! Â They have flat screen tv's but none are in HD! Â I know i am spoiled but when all competitors have HD, youre kind of expecting it. Â I'd only return here if HD became available. Â Spend a few bucks guys!
Hit it 2005 in here.
Came here using the Groupon coupon. The place was hard to find because Yelp map showed it as being across the street.
Walking inside, right away is the bar with 2 TV on the right and 1 on the left. On the left hand side is a path that leads to dinning area. So no realizing there was no waiter service we sat there for a minute, until hearing the people scream out the order numbers.
So we walk over the dinning area and ordered our food. Good selection of hamburgers and beer for the price. The beer was a decent size and so was the burger, just the fries could had been a little more. While getting ketchup for the fries, the bottle began squirting out by itself. Found the other bottles were the same; the bottles had some air pressure for some reason.
The hamburgers look all the same as shown in my picture. They cook the meat like regular and then toss whatever sauce or topping on top of it. I made the mistake of ordering the Jerk Sauce, tasted like a hamburger with a little ginger; jerk sauce should be spicy.
The hamburgers were around $10 each with fries. Nothing special, just decent. The bar area was extremely loud with multiple people screaming at each other. The dinning area was where the kitchen staff were screaming at each other.
A good little place to grab a tasty burger and enjoy a glass of beer. Â I visited this establishment during a recent business trip. Â You can walk in and catch a baseball game on the many TVs around the place. Â The owner's wife, Nancy is awesome, even though she uses Nikon cameras. Â She was very attentive and even funny as I brought up the yelp that called her the "old hag" Â and she said "Yup...that's me!" Â
The food was excellent, as I had a juicy burger. Â Pudley's has a good array of beer on tap as well to compliment your food. Â For tavern food, it's top notch.
If you are in the area, be sure to stop by Pudley's for great food, beer and a great atmosphere. You will be happy you did.
Gone downhill. Â Pudleys? Â What happened to you? Â You were like the cool uncle that used to slip me alcohol at family parties.. But now, you've changed.
Burgers are okay at best. Â A lot of the new kids on the block, Jacks, The Counter, Godfathers, etc have far surpassed this spot and this place has regressed. Â Fries have changed, staff has changed..
No live music during St. Pattys. Â Just some pathetically hung cardboard shamrocks and thats it. Pissed off staff and otherwise just didn't make this spot even feel comfortable to be in. Â
Definitely not the burger spot that I used to tout as being one of the better ones out there. Â I miss my old Pudleys..
I'll admit it. I'm a trivia geek. I need to find a good bar or pub that does a weekly trivia night so I can unleash that geekery regularly. Trivia is initially why I would come back to Pudley's. They had some trivia game set up so instead of having to talk to the boyfriend, I could just pummel him with my knowledge of random and unnecessary facts. Â
I hadn't been there in a while, but when I went back on Saturday I discovered that they had gotten rid of the trivia game and my heart broke a little.
Sure, it's a cute restaurant. I love the themed tables and because I'm weird, I always seek out the Beatles table when I first get there. It's pretty family friendly and has a fun atmosphere.
However, without the trivia, I focused a little more on the burgers. They were way too dry for burgers that cost roughly $10. Â Seriously, I'll have no qualms about paying that much for a burger...if it's a delicious and mouthwatering burger. Â If not, why go there over the local In-N-Out?
Nevertheless, they do have a big selection and it's a cute place to go to hang out. I'd like it a lot more if the burgers were cheaper.
I've been going to different Pudley's since I was young, My dad's whole baseball team would go after games, I even remember going with my great grandparents when the Gold Mine Special was $4.25. It's bottom line my favorite burger place. No other burger has ever compared and it is what I measure all other burgers to. The onion rings are amazing and they have a HUGE beer selection. Â
The burgers are too big for me so if I don't have a friend to split a gold mine with me, they deck out the kids cheeseburger with all the fixings, how awesome is that!
The price of this place is more than a one $. I paid almost $13.00 for a chicken breast sandwich (with bacon and cheese) and a soda. The sandwich is huge enough to be split between two people. However, the quality isn't up to par as its price. I was expecting something better and more juicy and flavorful. The side of french fries that came with my burger wasn't that great too.
While there, I did see some specials for beer and other alcoholic beverages. In addition, I notice that more than half of the people there were men. I am guessing it's a great place for guys to hang out and watch sports. It's not that great for ladies like me since I'm more about the food. Overall, the food wasn't all that great. I don't think I'll go back.
I will completely admit...when I fall in love,...I FALL IN LUUUVVVV!!!!
Pudley's has my heart...it really does...Admittedly a "Dive Bar Chic"..with pride...this place offers a crowd that is like Thanksgiving Dinner with the family you always wanted...I actually had a bar patron bring me my silverwear today...AWESOME...maybe not to most,..but to me this spells out we are family and those who bother to dwell will be treated the same.
Anyhow..onto food and very importantly BEEERRRR...Many fabulous Beers on tap..And I must say...ontop of DiveBar Chic...I am a HUGE BEER WHORE...with pride. Great selection...let you tast anything before committing and no attitude about it. The waitress/bartenders are amazingly sweet and beautiful down to earth girls.
Food...is huge..exactly what to expect and exactly what it should be.I think I ordered my sandwich and had it at my table along with a gargantuan chicken cesar in literally 5 minutes of placing the order...
5 Starts is an understatement for Pudley's..5 starts and a huge hug is my thoughts...
Love you Pudley's and your fabulous Pudley Family!!!!!
You will NOT find a better burger ANYWHERE. Trust me when I say, you've hit the burger jackpot! I don't give a hoot about sports, atmosphere, places to take the kiddies. When it comes to Pudley's it's all about the burgers!
My dad used to take me to the one that was in Palo Alto when I was a kid. Back then, they used to have a really cool Jailhouse theme, with jail cell bars everywhere. It was a real treat. When they disappeared, they faded into the mist of semi-forgotten childhood memories.. until a couple of years ago, I was driving down El Camino in San Carlos and had to do a double take. Was that a Pudley's I just saw?! Woo Hoo!
Usually this type of moment is followed by a disappointed "Oh well.. it wasn't what it used to be", but not this time. This time it was, "Holy wow! That was the best burger I've ever had and I'm so full I'm about to burst. Next time, we'll split one."...but we rarely end up splitting one ; )
I'm really picky with my bacon. Like, I want it extra crispy, almost burned.. but not burned. I can't stand the rubbery fat. I've tried requesting this everywhere I've ordered bacon, but mostly they screw it up. I have to say that Pudley's never screws it up. They get it just right.
I will say that their fries are often a bit dry. Even their very tasty garlic parmesan fries are on the dry side. BUT their onion rings are just the way I like 'em.. in a tempura-style batter, not breaded.
Bottom line: We drive from Sunnyvale to San Carlos every time we want a burger. They are seriously that damn good.
Edited to add: They'd be even better if they stayed open past 9:30pm. Hint Hint.
This place is essentially a bar that you can bring your kids too. The food is pretty good American fair but the prices could be lower.
I'm an admitted hefeweizen fiend and for many places my choice is often limited to Pyramids Haywire or Widmers. Pudleys had Widmers and it tasted decent but kinda old.
Since the focus of this place seems to be football games (and the like) I'm sure they sell tanker trucks of pisswater I mean Bud and Coors so the other less common choices may have been sitting too long.
I'd consider going here again if I needed a place to take people who aren't interested in the experience of a real bar. My biggest disappointment are the hours. How can such a place close so damn early?!
Came to Pudley's with about 24 co-workers for my last day. Pudley's had no problem accomodating a party of our size without any reservations at 1:30pm.
I ordered the #34 which was a burger on a sandwich roll, fries and a 230z beer for $13 +change. The lady behind the counter taking my order had an ample amount of cleavage on display and I could say I didn't look at all, but why lie? I looked hells yeah I looked! She handed me my ticket to pickup my beer and I was smiling the whole way to the bar.
The bar was full but the Coug..I mean woman behind the bar saw me and asked me what I'd like and she served it up, I sat down at the tables behind the bar and proceeded with foolish topics of conversation.
The level of noise kinda drowned out the speaker calling out order numbers being called so you have to pay attention to that speaker so you can get your food. PIcked up my food, the fries were GOOD! Crunchy on the outside and mushy on the inside, all of my fries were like this! It's like they were those little fries that you find at the bottom of the McDonalds fries that you fight over with your brother/sister/wife/husband/mom/don't fight with your dad it's bad/grandma too don't fight you'll lose in the end. Damn it...but yeah all the fries were tasty.
The disappointment was the burger, it was just okay. The bread was good, the tomato was tasty and thick and the pickle was good too. The main ingredient of the burger was the problem. The patty tasted as if it was frozen : ( Nothing disappoints me more than a tasteless patty, I want the patty salty/peppery/spicy/juicy/bloody/dripping pick one of three of those and I'm a happy fat kid. But the patty was none of those : ( It was a little dry, it was tasteless and I coudln't squeeze a drip of grease out of my burger : (
Speaking to one of my co-workers later he said that the tri-tip sandwiches at this joint is where it's at. So I will have to check this place for that sandwich!
The workers, atmosphere and the fact that they didn't blink an eye when we walked through the door makes me like this place and I'm more than willing to check this place out again!
Just stuff:
There's parking in the back, turn right after you see the bar.
The regulars are nice, they just look kinda mean.
Look at the clock behind the bar and tell me what's wrong. You'll know it when you see it.
Napkins/condiments are behind you when you pick up your order.
Good selection of beer even though a good number of them were empty when I visited on a Friday night around 7pm.
The Downtown Brown Ale was good with the bacon cheeseburger and fries. Large servings so come hungry!
Seating wasn't a problem until ~8pm when the youth league sports finish up and the parents with 2.3 children show up. This, of course, added to the already noisy environment.
Overall, this place is your typical sports bar/grill.
Would I come here again? Yes but only to pair another burger with another beer.
Pudley's, I love you!
I love cheesy bars with big beers and greasy food. If you do too, this is the place for you!
They have a bunch of beers on tap that you can get in a pint size or a 23 oz glass (for $11!). +1 star
They have rude signs warning you of several mean neighbors in no uncertain terms. +1 star
They have corny bar games and sometimes Wii that you can play! +1 star
They have greasy food on demand that's actually pretty freakin good! +1 star
This is one more burger joint to add to my stockpile of lunch spots...
It's a bar but if you walk towards the back you can find more seating for lunch. Don't be skeered. The burgers are pretty tasty and everything is reasonably priced... The salads are pretty delish, as well. It's not the best burger I've ever had, but it's sure better than Marvin Gardens or eating in my office cafeteria. Two thumbs up.
The only good thing about my Pudley's experience was the salad I ordered. The chopped salad is good. Â The wine selection they have is crap, it is a sports bar after all so people go for the beer. They did have a pretty good selection it looked like.
My biggest annoyance was the bus boy, or lack there of. We showed up at 2 pm on Sunday to watch the NCAA games and all the unoccupied tables had dirty dishes and beer glasses. I had to clear out a space for us to sit down!
During the hour we were there, the bus boy was unable to clear everything from the tables. He took two glasses at a time to the bar, would disappear for 5 minutes, come back and stack a few plates on each other, gather the napkins, check to make sure the right song was on his iPod Touch, and then take a stack of fours dishes back to the kitchen. 5 minutes later, the same routine. The guy focused on the tables that weren't occupied by people, not the tables that were. We ate our salads while surrounded by dirty dishes. It was disgusting.
"Get a large bin for the dishes so you can be efficient man!"
I will never go back.
As I am slowly turning into a mid-peninsula girl, I spend a fair amount of time looking for places that are fun and unusual to remind me of the variety of shenanigans one can get up to in the City. Pudley's holds that attraction for me, a place that isn't a chain (1 star), has GREAT burgers and fries (2 stars) and has its own character (1 star).
It also has its own characters, which causes me to deduct a point. Not necessarily the staff's fault (I pity the poor barmaid who had to put with with Drunky McGee and his slobbering sad story about his move from the East Coast), but two times in a row I've deflected conversation from breast level. Come on, fellas, kids eat here.
Also, it's a bit pricey. For the environment, I'd expect to get a burger and fries for under $10.
Where to begin? Â The numerous beers on tap (which include a good selection of European beers, American Lagers and local brews), the free popcorn, or the food? Â
Beer
There's are probably 25 beers on tap here: Guiness, PBR, Downtown Brown, Newcastle Brown, Bud and a few ciders just to name a few. Â They come in both 16 and 23 ounce glasses for those that are extra-thirsty.
Popcorn
Y'know that good, salty popcorn that has just a hint of butter? Â It's given away gratis here at Pudley's. Â This is genius! Â When you're drinking you want something salty and eating salty food makes you want to drink more: it's a virtuous cycle. Â
Food
The burgers are great and the wings are the best. Â You don't come to a bar for the health food and I can't say I've even looked for it on the menu at Pudley's.
Atmosphere
Great place to watch sports (except maybe soccer) and they have loads of TV's. Â This is a casual sports bar and it isn't unlikely for people to come either straight from work, or straight off the softball field. Â The jukebox can be a little loud from time to time, but in general its also not a bad spot to go if you want to just have a drink and talk.
Tons of beers on tap. They even had Budweiser's American Ale on tap for like 2.50, which is cool because it's cheap but then you get what you pay for, it's like drinking already watered down beer so I'll leave it at that.
On the wall they have the tap handles off like all the beers they've served. There's at least one-fifty to two hundred of them.
PLUS! This is the only beer/pub where you can get a SLURPEE for $2 AND you even get a free refill. That must be for the really drunk  people.
One summer evening, I finally tried Pudleys. Â It is more of a restaurant than a bar, very casual, sports themed with parking in the back. Â
Good selection of beers on tap.
Fairly extensive menu of burgers, sandwiches etc.
Roomy, but gets pretty warm indoors.
Small patio in back that is perfect for escaping the heat. Â (No server for this patio, so you are on your own.)
Beers are moderately priced, burgers are about $9 and up with fries. Â I ordered a blue cheese burger and it was well-cooked, pretty tasty, but the blue cheese was a little dried out and not of the highest quality. Â The fries were pretty darn good - crispy and I suspect twice fried but in a good way. Â Big glass of hefeweizen only cost me $5. Â Nice.
Crowd is diverse, singles, families, etc.
Bottom line: nice local hangout with decent food and cheap beers.
Damn good burgers and fries (thick cut). Â The fries can get soggy if you do take-out, so it's best to eat there. Â Comfort food, stick to your ribs kind of food. Â Very filling.
They don't have some fancy options (I forget which ones now) but this is a stand-out place that most meat-eaters love.
Went here a few weeks back and completely neglected to review it! Your typical sports bar, except that it was really kid friendly. There were several families here the night we came. In fact, the bartenders even gave the kids free popcorn!
A little spendy for burgers and fries of their caliber (The Counter is worth the extra dough) but they were definitely generous portions, I couldn't even come close to finishing my massive burger. Hubster finished his, but regretted it (and the jalapenos) a few hours later. I didn't care for their fries much, too big and soft (that's what she said) for my taste. The garlic fries were *loaded* with garlic, woo!
I'd probably go back to catch a game or something like that, lots of teevees to choose from.
This is a solid place to grab a good burger and a micro-brew (lots of choice) -- the food is good pub fare. Â The TVs are old and outdated and like 10 different sizes but there are enough of them to get the job done -- wish the bar was a bit bigger. Â
The crowd here seems to have a good amount of very respectable regulars who are usually very friendly. Â Yes, Lindsey is a really good bartender as others have mentioned on this post. Â Don't come here looking to hunker down too late though. Â Most of the time the bartenders try to get you out before 9pm and boy do they like to get out of there when the clock strikes 9 (weekdays). Â
I do also feel that besides Lindsey, the other bartenders are just watching the clock praying for 9pm to arrive as soon as possible. Â A far cry from my NYC pubs where the bartender would pour you a free shot of Jameson to get you to stay a lil bit longer and take off your coat (tear runs down cheek).
I've had pretty much shit luck trying to replace my old burger n' beer haunt in north carolina since moving here.
Of all the places I've attempted to recristen as the new haunt, this one comes the closest. The burgers taste good and are well priced. The same can be said of the decent beer selection. Then again, any place with more than two English ales on the tap is alright by me. These as well aren't priced badly. The ordering system can be a bit screwy, though.
The only drawback really here are the fries. They aren't bad, but big ol' think steak fries could use some coarse salt on top to make them better.
As for the decor, well, the place I used to go for this food combination had a full size jon wayne cutout and a bear's head, so I ain't picky.
Revised Review -
Caution, do not write a review about this place unless you intend on giving 4 or 5 stars, he will 86 you. Â I have been going here for years, since it was brew town. Â I suggested to him several times to change the draft system so the quality beers wouldn't pour flat anymore, he didn't change anything. Â I wrote a review, hoping to get through to him, and was kicked out for good. Â Plenty of places to go for a burger, including Sneakers, Jersey Joes and Marvin Gardens, where the owners still believe in customer service, and the beer actually has head.
Original review -
other than lindsay the greatest bar tender in the bay, i don't see many reasons to go there. Â this place use to be a brewpub, and now they only have 2 local beers. Â Devils canyon, Bear republic and several others seem to have been looked over by the owner, who refuses to accept that his beer is flat. Â the food is good, but a little over priced. Â the bar has a sports bar/ pub atmosphere to it, which is nice. Â The staff and service (if you can call walk up counter service, service) is good. Â the wine selection is reasonably priced, and beer selection consistently getting worse. Â what type of brew pub puts coors, coors light, MGD, miller light, bud and bud light on tap, and ignores the locals???
Pudley's is a great burgers and beers joint on El Camino between Cherry and Olive Street. Watch out for the big blue sign because it's easy to miss it.
The burgers are generally $6-8 each and include a side of fries. I had the Gold Mine special, which includes a burger on a hoagie roll, fries and a giant beer of your choice for $10.25 ($11.10 including tax). Half of the hoagie is the size of a regular burger at most places, so a full one can easily feed even the hungriest people for only $11.10.
**If you order the Gold Mine with a beer, take the stub punched with a 'b' to the bartender for your beer.**
My one complaint is that the fries aren't very good. Yeah, I ate them, but they had no salt or seasoning whatsoever. I understand this can be a good thing if you have hypertension or high blood pressure, but if that's the case, you shouldn't be eating junk in the first place!
In the front area, there's a bar, and off to the side is a billiards table. There's a small game room with 3-4 arcade machines, as well as a pinball machine, Pac-Man, and different candy dispensing machines next to the back entrance.
------------
I gave Pudley's four stars, but just removed one because it gave me serious indigestion that lasted for hours.
It's a pub, moreso than a sports bar (not really enough TVs), with a good selection of ~20 beers on tap, $4 each for non cheap-domestic. Â Burgers are pretty tasty, and come in infinite variety, for an average of $8 each.
The best deal is the Gold Mine, which is a 16oz burger (served effectively as 2 separate burgers), fries, and a 23-oz beer for $11.
OK place, the food is pretty good. Â I had the bleu cheese burger, hubby had the Gold Mine Special.
The prices seem a bit high. Â The place is a sports bar, let's face it. Â But there isn't much more to the atmosphere, hence the 3 stars.
I would go back, definitely, but next time I'll bring my earplugs.
