5 stars because of the "Old Cuban" on the drink menu! They're all tasty but I'm a regular JUST for this drink.... cheers!

Went to get a drink with my buddy. We ordered two old Rasputin stouts. Leon served us and after pouring the second one, came to us with only one and said the other one is gonna take a second because he didn't give it a proper pour and he doesn't have it in him to serve us a crappy pour. I like a place where people actually care about what they do.

In short - go to Leon...Leon is DOPE!

Great vibe and excellent hand crafted drinks. Haven't been there for dinner but we had two desserts and we both left underwhelmed. Far too expensive at $8 for what we got and simply wasn't all that yummy. Still would return quickly for bar service and do want to try their menu as well. Great interior and very cool atmosphere on the Friday Saturday night.

Red Rabbit is one of my favorite late-night spots in town.

The atmosphere is super nice. Dim, antique-looking lighting and decor gives this place an old-fashioned, yet still modern appearance. It's usually pretty busy on weekend nights, but not so much that you can't get to the bar. Perfect amount to make the place feel lively.

Drinks are always outstanding. They definitely aren't cheap with the amount of alcohol in each drink. Their craft cocktails are always delicious, most ingredients (besides the alcohol obviously) made in-house. My personal favorites are the Gold Rush (bourbon, lemon juice, and honey) and just their regular old Whiskey Ginger. They use ginger beer instead of boring old ginger ale and it gives it a really intense flavor. Yum.

I have yet to have a meal there, but I've had a few of their late night happy hour snacks and they never fail to satisfy those late night munchies.

The serving staff & bartenders are all excellent. Super friendly and really great at making delicious cocktails. Some of the best in Sac in my opinion.

Best Deal: Late night Happy Hour on Fridays & Saturdays from 10-12!
$2 Beers (Olympia & the likes)
$4 Well Drinks
$7 Craft Cocktails
+ some yummy happy hour snacks

Definitely in my top 3 for weekend nights in Sac-town.

Wow!

Generally good looking staff!

Great food!

Not great for large parties, but excellent for a date night.

Ask for Shannon, she is outstanding!!!

I love this place. I love the drinks I love the food I love the bartenders. Cocktails are creative and delicious; beer selection is solid and includes local brews; menu is seasonal, adventurous and varied. Whiskey shots...pork belly...I might be biased because this is just the kind of place I like, but I have always thoroughly enjoyed my visits to Red Rabbit!

LOVE this place! Been here twice in the last week - both for happy hour. SUPER friendly and knowledgeable bar tenders. Jillian made us the Krakow Salt Mine one day - YUM!!! The next time we came in, Leon was VERY helpful and made a couple of suggestions (even though we were boring and stuck with vodka crans). Had the slider and the mini tacos. Really tasty and great prices. Will DEFINITELY be back!! Great ambiance and decor.

Five Stars for LEON! Best bartender in town and super nice.
Three stars for the food- it seems really hit or miss and sometimes we'll order the same thing twice in a week and it's off the second time we have it. We've taken to eating before we come now ;(

Went twice in the last week - once for brunch, once for happy hour. Very good quality food and drinks. Not sure if I was just lucky, but it was not crowded either time, which was nice! I had the Eggs Benedict and the hollandaise was so good I got a side of it, to eat with my friend's french fries. He had a turkey sandwich which he really enjoyed.
At happy hour I had the amaretto sour and a gin-gin mule. Both well made and delicious drinks. I had the tempura pork belly as an appetizer. So good, and not nearly as heavy as one might expect for fried, battered fatty pork snacks of happiness.

Good and bad: Unique cocktails but took too long to arrive. Fig appetizer was superb. Avoid the wasabi appetizer; it's just wonton wrapped rice with a bit of spice. Most disappointing was osso buco - clearly was parcooked by boiling or pressure cooker. Mine was a bit watery and the deep flavor you'd get from slow cooking was very absent. The sauce was average. The creamy polenta saved the dish a bit.
We returned here because our first visit was stellar. This time we were underwhelmed.

Great food, good service. Only thing I wish they would do, as well as other restaurants that do this:

Don't brew the tea in the same device that you brew the coffee in. Iced tea with hints of coffee isn't good.

This review is strictly for happy hour. My friends and I came in before happy hour ended at 6pm. We decided to sit outside since the weather had finally cooled down a bit. Our server was friendly and efficient. We put in our drink orders and also decided to get the popcorn pork belly (which is kind of like popcorn chicken). The drinks and food came out fairly fast. The popcorn pork belly tasted good -- fried just right, and the pork was still juicy, not dry at all.

There is a good selection of food for happy hour and a long list of drinks. I will definitely be back here for regular meal.

Came for brunch. It was busy but we were seated right away. Service was great. We got the turkey sandwich with fries (the pea shoots were a great addition and tastier than traditional lettuce), the sunrise sandwich very good as well and to top it all off, creme brulee French toast.

The French toast was sweet and delicious minus the small hair we found it in. We told our waiter and he handled it very professionally. He offered to bring us another one, but we couldn't stomach eating more French toast after the hair.

Still a fun atmosphere and friendly staff. We will be returning for brunch again.

The service was good and the french fries were delicious. That's about it.

Every nasty meal has a silver lining. In this case, the fries were good. However, the portabella (veggie) burger was super greasy; the shorty burger (short ribs, cheddar and cajun sauce) was greasy & flavorless (the short rib sammie at Ink is GREAT, btw).; and the regular burger (cooked "medium") was dry.

So, one star for good service and a second star for good fries.

I have yet to eat dinner here but this is a great place for drinks! Good patio area in the front too. If you can, find Leon at the bar. By far the best bartender here!!

So, I have to start my review by saying, if you're here already, get the burger, add bleu cheese and bacon, and get it done medium rare. Otherwise, there are plenty of better places to go.

Let's be real - the menu isn't cohesive, and the items on the menu aren't very good. I was there with a group of 4, so I was able to taste multiple menu items... the ramen was mediocre and the pasta was bordering on flavorless. My buddy actually took some of the ramen broth and poured it on his dish to breath some life into it!

The drinks weren't bad, with the star of the show being the Gin Mojito. The wife had 2 of those!

Overall, if it wasn't for my burger, i'd probably give this place 1 star, but my burger was good.

Went here to try out the place intending to check out their happy hour and was so hungry decided to order a burger instead. It was a very good decision as the burger was juicy, tender, and had the smell of actual beef! Not the processed and injected with whatever chemicals and coloring. Was a bit weary that it cost $12 for a burger but I am thoroughly impressed.

Enough about the burger but the happy hour prices are decent enough although more along the lines of $5-9 a drink. The bar was full including the patio in the front. Ordered at the bar and got a booth with some friends. Unlike other places where happy hour is bar only, the friendly hostess allowed us to sit in the mostly empty booths until 6pm when dinner rush begins. Eventually the bar opened up and had a friendly bartender whom recognized me from high school but I didn't (soooo sorry!).

The place can get loud when it fills up so don't expect a nice, quiet, romantic, date, or gossip session here. Definitely will return here to try other dishes from their changing seasonal menu.

Went to have a bite before the theatre but ended up having to order appetizers only because we seemed to be the invisible table. No drinks or server for 15 minutes. Had to ask for a server finally. The food also took forever. Manager and some staff stood around shooting the breeze instead of working.

Some of my friends have had the same or worse experiences.

Food was just ok.

It's too bad because the place looks cool and has a great name.

A very sexy place.

I had wanted to check out The Red Rabbit based on its name alone. It just seemed very...inviting, but at the same time sort of seductive. It also involved rabbits, so I struggled with this combination of cute and furry and sexy and mysterious for a long while before stepping into the establishment.

It is very spacious inside, with a nicely decorated and inviting bar in the center of the room. Patio seating is available out front, and a nice enclosed area in the back features some calming waterfalls and comfortable seats.

The prices are fairly standard as far as drinks go, with a few of the bar's own special concoctions going a bit higher (but well worth it). The menu is slick and the people working behind and in front of the bar are really pleasant. The decor is rabbit themed, of course, but isn't hokey -- it's a modern bar with a nice, warm feel to it.

Went here for my 30th birthday and from what I can remember it was awesome! The lamb dish I had was amazing it was super shred apart tender and yummy I literally killed the whole plate haha, the drinks were just what I needed and very tasty, too bad I can not remember what they were. We had a great waitress or waiter....whatever....as busy as it was they were on top of it! The crowd was in our age range too which was nice. Good place to have dinner with a group of friends. I would definitely go back!

I have been here twice and had a great time each trip. They have great appetizers - the arancini was fabulous, it had goat cheese and beets in it. I would go there just to eat platefuls of their arancini. I have also had a burger there and the meat was cooked just right. I always get my burgers medium and sometimes they come out too pink and too overcooked, but Red Rabbit got it just right. They also have some great deals on cocktails during happy hour and they have a $5 punch of the day which was delicious.

I like their decor, it feels fancy, but not so much that it feels uncomfortable. I will definitely be going back.

Who wouldn't give this place 5 stars? The finely crafted cocktails (especially by Leon, I believe that's his name-usually wears a hat, tattoos, cute) and the well thought out dishes are satisfying every time. The outside patio is shady, the inside is decorated nicely, and if you sit at the bar it's pretty entertaining to watch the bartenders! I'm new to the area and this place is my favorite. Every time I order anything there it seems to be exactly what I was in the mood for.

Came here for a late night rendezvous. Seems like a late-20s and up crowd. Our server (forgot name) was friendly! It was our first time and he suggested the home run (who doesn't want one? haha.). We ordered some side food.. but what I can remember is the sliders. Those were pretty good!

But bear warning to the home runs... a shot of whiskey with beer can EASILY cause you to have 'how did I end up in my car?' moment. Nice place to have some food and wind down!

Holy Brunch-gasm! I've been toying with the idea of venturing to Red Rabbit and when to dip my toes in the water..... "Dinner? Happy Hour? Lunner? Brunch?" Brunch yes, yes that's what I'll do! The bestie and I set off on our adventure of finding good eats this past Sunday and we decided on the Crimson Lagomorph. Ok that sounds like horror / sci-fi film, but you get the idea.

Walk in and are greeted by the lovely bar tender and for the life of me I cannot remember her name! Dammit I'm getting old. Very attentive and was on her game the whole time. I will find you and add you to this review because you deserve some kudos doll!

The food. Bestie and I decided to get the same menu item(s) and split one. We got the Hangover Helper (which is ironic because I actually wasn't hungover for this meal), and we split an order of the French Toast. Note: I added Tillamook Cheddar to my HH and it was AWESOME, but you could add cheese to my shoe and it would taste great.

One word comes to mind when I took my first bite of my meal: BRILLIANT. The hollandaise sauce, the perfectly cooked pork belly, the fried egg, and the bacon hash. Like I said earlier BRUNCH-GASM was in full effect, and I'm talking eyes rolling to the back of my head, but for the fact that I had food in my mouth I would have done my O face. The bartender was kind enough to create our grapefruit juice mimosa's in which she added fresh blueberries to the drink. Superb.

French toast was delicious. Not too sweet, just the right amount of crunch and give to the bread. Syrup was yummy as well. But let's face it the star of the show was the Hangover Helper. Get it, got it, GOOOOOOOD.

The name itself intrigues and captivates with promises of a fanciful time adorned with whimsy and colorful guests. The Red Rabbit is for having a good time. A little loud, a little too "hip", but a lot of fun.

Having dined here a few times now my experiences have been good. The venue itself is very aesthetically pleasing, a soigne speakeasy comes to mind. The menu is accessible and playful at times. Some memorable dishes of mine would be the huge lamb shank served with risotto or the beet salad. But it is hard to recommend a dish since the menu is always changing. The changing menu is good because there's always something new to try but bad if there's a dish you really want to try again. And in my visits the wait staffs and bartenders have always been pleasant and helpful.

There's another important menu to speak of, the drink menu. The Red Rabbit boasts quite a list of inventive drinks for libations and good times. Ask for the French Toast cocktail, sometimes it's not listed on the menu, it's definitely a treat. But my favorite drink would have to be a classic that Red Rabbit does better then any other place I've tried in Sacramento, the Vieux Carre. If you're a fan of whiskey and cognac drinks order this, it's amazing.

With it's prime location the Red Rabbit can get very busy, especially on weekends. But it's a destination to be had, so make reservations and you'll find yourself glad to have wandered down this rabbit hole.

This place is okay. I can't say I can recommend anything in particular off their dinner menu because it is constantly changing. However, I can recommend against ordering the Rabbit Ravioli if you are at least slightly hungry or have any sort of metabolism; you will burn it off before your check arrives. $16.50 for THREE small pieces of Ravioli. This is basically an expensive, albeit very tasty, appetizer. I have also tried the Lamb Burger which is also $16.50 but appropriately proportioned for the price and quality. I did cough a bit after biting into a hidden pocket of cumin, which I don't think the burger needed in the first place.

I wanted a whiskey drink, so I ordered the Boulevardier (Bourbon, Sweet Vermouth, Campari) http://www.yelp.com/biz_… I could tell each was precisely measured, which left it weak and syrupy. More bourbon would thin it out and make it a bit more enjoyable, but it sure does look nice on the table, if you care about that sort of thing.

It's a nice environment with friendly and attentive staff so I will come here again, but not for dinner, and I probably won't order another $8 specialty cocktail unless I bring a flask.

My experiences at the Red Rabbit over the last couple years have been rather Jekyll & Hyde. I keep coming back for the food and the cocktails, but some inconsistencies and one or two glaring negatives have soured my opinion overall.

First of all, the food is fantastic. It's always fresh and always well-prepared. Unfortunately, the Rabbit sticks so closely to the "farm to fork" ethic that it's been rare for me to return and find the same menu items I had on my previous visit on the menu. A great dish builds its own reputation and makes me want to come back again and recommend it to others or order it again. I loved the Army Navy drink and that went away, then I loved the ribs and those went away, and there are two to three other wonderful dishes that went extinct before they had a chance to develop an audience. I would recommend holding on to some staples throughout the year and just changing prices slightly if necessary.

I was also put off by some disparaging comments I received for my last review from a mysterious "orange head" reviewer who is an adamant defender of the Red Rabbit. I always try to provide constructive criticism and was taken aback by the venom of their comments and how suspiciously personal they took my review. That isn't affecting my rating though, which is solely based on the opinion of someone who loves to try a good dish more than once!

This review is only on the happy hour.

I visited on a Friday evening and the place was already pretty lively, probably about half-way full. My friends and I grabbed some seats at a community table and were helped pretty quickly.

In terms of happy hour, they have an okay selection; nothing really seems like a great deal, though. I mean, the prices are very fair, just not steals, like some other happy hour spots in Sacramento. Anyway, I tried their Cheeky tacos ($6) and the daily punch ($5). The cheeky tacos were actually pretty good and had a nice amount of flavor. The carnitas were moist and soft and overall, the dish was pretty good. The drink had a nice amount of alcohol, though it was still easy to drink.

The restaurant itself is really pretty inside and it's worth checking out. I had a positive experience here. I'm between a 3 and 4 star experience; maybe it'll be bumped up when I try it again, outside of happy hour.

This is one of my favorite sacramento eateries. I love the fresh food and friendly service and fancy cocktails. Red Rabbit is a place you can chill after a day at the river, or enjoy a fancy date. It's unpretentious and wholesome, while staying classy.
This is a gem in the Sacramento's culinary cap.

Let's just say I'm not a fan of this block, with Harlow's, Centro's, Spaghetti-Os; I don't know. It reminds me of some bad times in my teens when I couldn't get into "epic" shows that my sister could, and has always made me feel, well, a little small. Like I'm too young.

Well, nowadays, I like feeling too young. I don't like the feeling enough to go anywhere here except for the Red Rabbit on this particular strip, unless X or The Damned is playing at Harlow's. Maybe Cock Sparrer? That would be a long shot. Probably not going to happen. But a girl can dream, right?

This is an excellent place to ask a gal out on a date. If you ask a girl to go here with you, she will likely say yes.. Let me tell you. If the girl says no, she's definitely not into you at all. There's no reason to not go on a date here with a man who is halfway decent. It is a good time. The wait isn't bad, the crowd is diverse, and the drinks are good. It's got all the fancy drinks the Shady Lady has minus the weird "everyone-wants-to-fuck-me" attitude that must be part of their bartending training course.

God, I'm such a hater.

In other words, if you order a drink, you aren't going to feel like some 2-bit hooker by the time the workout to get it in the glass is over. I love the drinks here. The bartenders smile and are completely affable. It was also cool to see a bartender with an old punk rock tattoo like we used to give each other back in high school. Somehow I got to skip this rite of passage, please don't tell anyone. I don't need no tattoo. I guess punk isn't dead, though! Phew. Mom will be so relieved. I was getting worried about that. My sister notices random ass shit like that which is helpful. I want my drink poured by the punk. He was incredibly nice.

The hostess, the lead one, was very cool about getting us a table and enthusiastic about her job. I liked her a lot, and she gave our party her favorite seat in the house.

I would definitely like to come here again. All of the staff is nice, and when I'm shelling out my top dollar votes I want the receiver to smile, and everyone here seemed to be having a good time, including the staff. I highly recommend this even on a busy night. The crowd isn't bad at all. There are some eccentrics but even those dudes get off of their bar stools if they see ladies standing, which to me, is just a feat in itself. As of now I appreciate this bar more than the Shady Lady. The Shady Lady is getting real uptight I noticed since they have a lot of difficult (cheap) clientele. I think the atmosphere and ambiance are better here than there, and I'm glad my sister insisted on trying this place out.

The food was good too but what I was interested in that night was the drinks. They did not disappoint, and the bartender was cool as hell. I would definitely not hesitate to come here again.

I love this place. The fact that they use seasonal and local products is great.

We typically order a few things off the menu and share. The beet risotto balls on the current menu are great for this, because you get three risotto balls and they are the perfect size. I got the cheeky tacos the last time I went in for my main dish, and they were great. I like smaller dishes, so the two tacos I get with this are perfect. If you like bigger portions though I would recommend getting something else as well.

For drinks, I highly recommend the Krakow Salt Mine. I get mine without vodka, and it's great as a non-alcoholic drink.

My only complaint would be they got rid of the meat lollipops (they were amazing).

I had been here a couple times before for happy hour and wasn't that impressed but did like the meat ball and fish taco happy hour items.

Last night my friends and I shared the Butternut Squash Polenta Squares, Catfish nuggets and Frites.

The Butternut Squash Polenta Squares were not liked by any of us at the table. I personally did not like the consistency of the square and there was not much flavor to it. There were only 3 squares so only 3 of us tasted them. My friends were very underwhelmed by the squares.

The catfish nuggets did not taste fresh at all. Two of the people at our table took one bite and did not finish and one tried her hardest not to spit out the bite she took. I on the other hand was starving so just ate it. It was probably the worst tasting fried catfish I had ever had. It definitely did not taste fresh to me at all. I've had catfish plenty of times and it was probably the worst tasting catfish dish I've ever had.

The frites were decent in my opinion but 2 others at the table tried one piece and were not amazed by them or anything. I just ate them cause they were there. They were nothing special and nothing bad.

My friend and I ordered the Red Rabbit Burger medium with blue cheese, bacon and egg overeasy on the burger. We both got burgers that were well done. The blue cheese was runnier than italian dressing and got everywhere. I mean I don't have problem with a messy burger but I had never had such a runny blue cheese. It wasn't even the consistency of ranch dressing. It was the consistency of a really light italian dressing. The unfortunate part of the runny blue cheese dressing was that it overwhelmed the taste of the burger. I mean I did choose the blue cheese but I assumed it would be crumbles of blue cheese instead of a blue cheese sauce. I know that red rabbit does not specialize in burgers or anything but making a burger medium should not be that hard.

My other friends got the flounder, Farro "Risotto", and Shorty Melt. The flounder and farro risotto were underwhelming from what they said. My friend that got the shorty melt loves that but she always get its.

Don't get me wrong red rabbit is very nice establishment and has a great atomsphere and ambiance. But I don't think I'll be coming back for food.

The food rating is 1 star.

The atmosphere I'd give 4 stars.

I guess I was just very disappointed as I wanted the food to wow me and I definitely was not wowed at all, and neither were my friends.

Highly recommended... right from the start, the ambiance was nice and relaxed. Staff were friendly and pretty much know what's good on menu. Starters had the shrimp tacos. Shrimps were crunchy but not overcooked. Add a DAB of habenero hot sauce, even a little bit it did put a tingle to my lips and tongue. Had the Loco Moco, very good with the patty tender and the going really well with the gravy. Had the eggs over easy, should've gone with the sunny side up. My favorite dish so far. Date had the Shorty Melt with Garlic Fries. Nothing to exciting but enjoyable none the less. Both of us also had the Daily Punch which we both agreed was a good starter drink. Dessert was the Ice Cream Sandwich. Simple Oatmeal Flake cookies with a Vanilla Bean Ice Cream middle. Simple but a nice way to end dinner.

Overall, had a great time. wouldn't mind going there again. I wouldn't go there with kids though, menu doesn't have kid friendly meals.

I had the most wonderful dinner here. The menu is creative and I can't wait to try everything on it. Narrowing down my order was a challange.

The salads were all delish and exciting. The rabbit ravioli were amazing - homemade pasta!, as was the osso buco that my friend ordered and I snuck a bit of. Knowing the everything is fresh, seasonal and locally sourced just made my night. Such a simple way to run a restaurant. Why more don't do this is beyond me. Who needs 1,000 things on a menu? I want quality, not quantity.

Dessert was yummy and my flight of whiskys was a cool way to end my night. And speaking of drinks - they have some new and exciting cocktails on the menu. Loved that!

Service was snappy and fun. Just the way I like it. Drinks came out a tad slow but it was a Saturday night and the place was hopping, so I looked past it.

I cannot recommend it enough.

Summary:
The Red Rabbit has rounded itself into a reliable dining and drinking spot. It's menu has a number of items that I would eat again and i am a big fan of it's cocktail program.

Details:
The decor was understated but had a perspective. A fun mix of retro and modern with fun touches like metal rake heads holding wine goblets, mason jar lighting fixtures, chalk board menus, and simple place settings. The room itself is centered around a large bar area with a good number of booth and table seating for the dining crown. The room holds the noise well and a conversation can be held without shouting.

The menu is an interesting mix of homey and modern with touches from multiple cuisines. Favorites include the Frites (Tempura Battered Portobello Mushrooms with and Anaheim Chili Aiol), the street tacos, the BLB, and the Loco Moco. The cocktail program has both the familiar and the inventive, all done well.

Final:
A keeper for the Sac Dining Scene.
