I came here for a retirement party last night and it was ok. Downstairs there is a large bar area and the bartender was very nice. However, we were supposed to get appetizers and i literally got one little appetizer thing. She said she was going to come around with more and never did. Then we head upstairs to the big room for the party. Its a decent sized room with a small bar. However, the buffet was such a disappointment. They had chicken piccata, ziti, sliced turkey, salad, potatoes, and mixed veggies. It was just ok. For the price, I would have expected more food. I wouldnt suggest coming here for an event. They are very stingy with the food.
Review Source:Awful. Just Awful.
If the location was different, they would have gone under years ago. Located right outside Met Life Stadium, the only other food options I noticed was Popeyes Chicken. It was packed with people, understaffed and the staff they did have were useless and overwhelmed. Food was greasy and gross, even for pub food. The first beer I ordered was sour. The taps clearly need to be cleaned or replaced. The prices were absurd, I paid $20 for two shots that came with an attitude from the flustered beertender. Upon leaving, I overheard the hostess freaking out about people posting bad reviews of this place on "the facebook". She looked as if she was just pulled out of bed, and handed a clipboard with peoples names. She inspired me to write this review. Well, her and the awful experience that will prevent me from ever returning to this sh*tshack in New Jersey.
Came here on a Groupon, for a pitcher of beer and an order of wings.
We decided to do a flight first to see what we wanted the pitcher of. All the beers in the flight seemed watered down, and were definitely sour--clean your taps!!!! Decided just to do Yuengling for the pitcher, and it was sour as well.
Wings came with 3 options: buffalo, Teriyaki, or BBQ. We did the buffalo, they were just alright. Size was a bit on the smallish side, and the sauce was vinegary. Since i t was happy hour with half-price apps, we also got the "Gary" mac & cheese (really really good), and the fried calamari (cooked well, but terrible breading, good marinara).
Its a sports bar, but we were there on an off-night. Crowd was mostly 45+, seemed pretty quiet and laid back. Service was fine. They offer shuttles to and from games at the stadium, I imagine that is their biggest draw. Prices were very good.
I have been here numerous times for lunch, happy hour, and dinner. Â I work nearby and I am a fan of the food. The sandwiches are yummy. Â Service is hit or miss and sometimes is not so good. Â Happy Hour and Trivia is fun but there drink prices are not so happy. Â If they offered better drink specials we would definitely visit more often. Â Food is yummy and reasonable especially with http://Restaurant.com.
Review Source:We went to Redds this weekend before a concert at the IZOD center. Â I have been there many times for parties and other events in the Meadowland area. Â We were seated immediately but it took a good 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us at our table. Â We were going to a concert so we were a little pressed for time. Â The service was horrible; the waitresses took forever, forgot orders, and had an attitude. Â
All in all, the food was good, and you can not beat the deal for the park and ride but the service is a deal breaker for me. Â I will not be re-visiting anytime soon.
Bar, B & T crowd, we had wings & chicken fingers that were the norm. I like it here and it is close to highway. It is also really close to the Meadowlands if you are looking for somewhere to eat or drink before games. Overall, average bar which on occasion has had surly service but what do you expect from NJ.
Review Source:Too bad things had to decline, the place got re-done and there's a lot of space now and it looks good, but the service went down hill. They used to have very friendly servers who would seat you once you get in and you'd have a welcome feel. But with a "seat yourself" sign, you would think that they'd get to you in under 15 minutes when there are 2 servers and a guy at the bar and the elderly guy by the register. But since it seems they make a lot of money because it's close to the stadium, I guess they didn't care. So we walked out, I don't think I'll go back here until management changes or is sold to someone else. This was the reason why I didn't go here for 2-3 years, because the service sucked from when I reviewed it a long time ago, I miss the pretzel'd chicken.
Review Source:Went to a catered party upstairs. The parking was easy. The room was really pretty with a balcony. But if I would have known what I was in for I would have eaten before I went. The fare was chicken fingers, pizzas on taco shells, tasteless chicken marsala... no vegetable or salad...my mother went to go back for more chicken fingers and the waitress told her she could only go up once. And the waitresses kept taking plates without asking saying excuse me or anything. "You cant go back twice" may have been the only communication we had with them all evening. And then the coffee line. The ran out of coffee, and out of cups. Just a weird experience. Sometimes places have off days. Maybe that's all it was-but if i get invited to another party there I'm bring my ow Starbucks to be on the safe side.
I used to go to the bar downstairs and eat dinner a few years ago and it was pretty good and the batenders were nice.. I havent hung out there since but my friends still go and seem to still like it. I guess it's good for what is is: A sports bar.
Stopped in before a concert on a Sunday night, and was happy to be seated immediately even though the place was packed with enthusiastic football fans. Â
I was also thrilled to see huge signs for some super awesome deals during the football games only to have a complete let down when I found out it was only for the 8pm game. Â If looks could kill our server would have been flattened in a heartbeat when I heard that news, and that big giant banner advertising jumbo wings continued to mock me from across the restaurant as the night went on.
With that, I settled for a buffalo chicken wrap and a cool Miller Lite, and happily checked into the establishment on both Yelp and Foursquare while waiting for our food. Â Guess what?!?! Â They have a special for people who check in for a buy one get one drink. Â Woo hoo! Â My boyfriend and I were in luck after all!
Out food came. Â It was OK but nothing great. Â Iceberg lettuce that was a lil weak and watery, and actual slices of deli cheese within the wrap. Â But nothing could damper my mood... I had a concert to go to!
And then the bill came. I showed our server the special deal for checking in, and she said she would edit our bill. I happily waited while she ran off to do so. And then guess what happened? She returned to tell me that the check-in special doesn't count on the weekends. Ugh. This is the second bummer of the night I gave her my credit card and she scampered away only to return saying they don't accept that credit card. Really? You didn't realize that 5 minutes ago when you took it? Â
The whole experience was a comedy of errors, and left me with quite a sour taste in my mouth. Â I'm not in the area often, so I don't have intentions of returning in the near future. Â If you go, just remember that the advertisements that you see aren't always what you get.
Read an advertisement saying that they offered 10 cent wings on Sundays for football, say no more we are there.
Walk in about 12:45pm before the games get seated and are told by the waitress the specials start at 1pm so we waited. Â
1pm: Â Asked our waitress and she said she never heard of the 10 cent wing special.
Okay no problem, there was a huge sign in the place saying 50 cent wings and 5 dollar pizza's for Sunday football. Â
Asked the waitress can we have that. Â
She checked and came but with a disheartening no. Â Specials are only valid for the time periods during Giant's games. Â Went to the sign looked for fine print saying this but there was none.
Promptly exited Redd's
My boyfriend and I stopped here before we went to see the Packers vs Giants game(My beloved packers lost boo!). We chose this place because Redd's offers shuttle from the restaurant to and from the game for $30, which is way cheaper than paying to park at the stadium. When we walked in there was a ton of people crowded at the front waiting to be seated. It was a packed house. It seemed there really wasn't much organization for seating people. They had one lady take your name to put on the waiting list. If I didn't go up and tell her my name we probably would have waited for ever. No one was making sure that everyone was on the waiting list. And when she yelled out my name she did not give me a chance to answer and I was almost skipped over, but I got her attention and we were seated.
I understand it was insanely busy but when we were seated the tale was quickly wiped down and there were no eating utensils, condiments, or napkins on our table. Our waitress was nice but kind of flighty. It was obvious she was overwhelmed. It was about a 15 minute wait for a beer and a coke. The menu was very appealing. A lot of appetizers, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, and salads. I had a Cajun chicken sandwich that I got in a wrap instead. It came with their homemade potato chips..which is basically a glorified potato chip but very tasty! My boyfriend got a burger, I forgot the name of it. It was a cheeseburger with tailor ham on it. He really enjoyed it, he food definitely made up for the service. We had to flag our waitress down to get another soda and napkins. We had to ask her twice actually lol.
Our bill was pretty cheap. The space is pretty big. Nice atmosphere. There are tons of tvs to watch sports on. Â I would love to eat here again on a more normal night when it is less chaotic.
We live near Redds, pass it quite often, parking lot always packed, we decided to give it a try.
We walk in, it has a bar/grill feel, lots of wood and very bright, very very bright. We are seated and are handed a menu and a specials menu.
Burgers, wraps, pasta dishes and some specials. i was unsure what to have, I ordered a beer and asked the waitress what she recommends, i was a little bothered that she said "i haven't tried a lot of the menu.", Come on man! But she did say what people order a lot of. My wife ordered a burger, i order a steak sandwich, medium.
Burger comes out w/ a side of crisscross chips, my steak sand comes out, sliced London Broil on a really nice roll w/ the same side of chips. The sandwich was really good, cooked mw as asked and my wife enjoyed her burger.
The best part of the evening was a guy walking around asking to take a survey of Redds. He comes over after we ate w/ a pad and asks what we thought of our food, experience etc. He proceeded to tell me "Nice Ed Hardy shirt douche bag." which he managed to say in a charming way as to not offend me, i actually laughed. He asked what we thought about various slogans for Redds as well as a few jingles. Some of which may not have been PC.
Turns out we were on hidden camera TV show Impractical Jokers. I was on to them, i knew something was up and i knew the guy looked familiar. Afterwards they whisked us away upstairs where they had a whole production room set up, they made us sign a release, we met the owner of Redds and they welcomed us w/ open arms, it was a cool experience.
I love redds...food is good, drinks are good, crowd is nice, service is fast and pleasant, the owner is a sweetheart and he has some family working there. Great place to be when you can't make it in to the stadium. They do offer park and ride service to the games I assume with a meal and drinks. Can't go wrong here and its affordable. Try joe trivia on Wednesday nights, lots of fun.
Review Source:I was staying up the road at a hotel and I was hoping to get a "Lucy"or "loosey" to the big Giants/Cowboys game, but I was out of luck. I tried at the hotel first without success. I drove to Redds the day of the game, parked my car, and took the free shuttle to the stadium trying to buy a single seat. However, dealing with some of these scalpers was absolutely ridiculous. I was not going to pay double the ticket price, especially since it was raining like crazy. I had good luck last year when I bought a single ticket from someone at the hotel, but this game was quite a bit more important. The winner goes into the playoffs. Obviously, I went back to Redds to watch the game. The Giants won the game, so everyone was happy. There were TV cameras at the Redds during the game. Â Last year when I got a ticket the Giants lost. Redds has good bar food; as long as you aren't expecting gourmet food, you won't be disappointed. I sat at the bar and I liked the pizza I ordered. Â The food is definitely not as bad as some of the reviewers claim. It was easy to make friends with people there, and the waitresses and bartenders were friendly. People at the bar shared their food and I did the same. I guess it didn't hurt that the Giants were winning throughout the game putting everyone in a good mood. They have plenty of televisions in the place. Redds is a rather big place with lots of parking. Someone told me that It gets pretty crazy on bar nights, and it is rather quiet during lunch. Â I have heard that they deliver food to some of the hotels on or near Patterson Plank road, but I would rather drive there. It's a very quick ride. I heard about Redd's at my hotel from a guy who was going to the game. He parks there, takes the shuttle and parties there after the game, especially when the Giants win. Â Check it out, it's a good time. I left after the game, as people starting packing into the place after the game. It got a little too crowded for me. Hey, I just saw myself on television on WNBC4 NYC. It was a quick shot, but I found it strange that I was writing the review and I caught myself on TV.
Review Source:I went to Redds a few time when it first opened and remember being thoroughly unimpressed by the place. I thought the food was, at best, mediocre. Which is likely why I hadn't been back for a few years. But the wife wanted to give it another try and they are now on http://Restaurant.com so what the hell? Â Off we went for dinner.
Since my last visit they have removed the walls that separated the bar from the dining room which is a plus in my view. It made the place seem much bigger and spacious.
I expected the place to be much more crowded from the lack of spaces in the parking lots but not so. For 8:00 on a Thursday night, it was rather empty. there was a decent crowd at the bar but the dining room was maybe 20 - 25% full.
We were seated immediately by our waitress who took our drink orders. We needed more time top choose our entrees but we ordered a couple of appys to get started, the classic chicken fingers with honey mustard sauce and the potato wedges.
The Chicken Fingers arrived first (about 5 minutes or so before the wedges [??].
Both were unremarkable. No that's not right, the finger were unremarkable. The wedges were just plain bad. I think they are supposed to be a potato skins replacement. But it doesn't work. Potato skins work because of the ration of skin to potato "meat" to cheese to bacon. Â The problem here is using wedges means far too much meat and not enough of the other to compensate. The end result is a mouth full of just plain old almost tasteless potato. Ugh!
For our entrees the wife order the New Meadowlands Stadium Salad "iceberg tossed in balsamic vinaigrette with ham, salami, sharp provolone, cherry tomatoes, hardboiled egg, red onion, & croutons, topped with grilled chicken & jumbo shrimp."
I order the Grilled Filet of Sole with baked spud, veggies and the French Onion Soup.
As to my wife's salad, the first issue was with the shrimp. Â We expected there to be some grilled (hot) shrimp (plural). What she got was *A* shrimp. That's right, A shrimp, singular. Â And a cold one at that! With nary a droplet of cocktail sauce to be had to boot . :(
Now I know shrimp is one of those words that can mean plural or singular but in common usage one says "A shrimp" for the singular and "shrimp" for the plural. Also, since they chose to list it after "grilled, one can understand the wife's confusion in expecting multiple grilled (HOT) shrimp.
Also, when somebody orders the "King" sized salad, common sense should dictate that an 1.5 ounce jigger of vinaigrette just ain't going to do it! The wife had to ask for more, twice! And that was a issue too. More on that later.
As for my sole, it was so-so. It was cooked well but that's about all I can say for it. I was not wild about the seasoning and asked for lemon (again, more in a minute). And my baked spud was not hot! I don't know what it around here lately but getting a hot baked potato seems to be becoming more and more of a challenge. In fact, the only part of the meal I can say I actually enjoyed were the veggies. They were a sauteed mix of carrots, green beans and broccoli, and were quite good.
Now as for the vinaigrette and lemon: While the service was initially quite good, our waitress seemed to have shifted into low gear after the entrees were served. Â It took 10 minutes for her to bring the requested items, all the while our food was sitting there getting cold.
To bottom line this, the only three things out of all that we order that I can say we actually enjoyed were my veggies, the onion soup and my wife's coffee, which she said was quite good. But those things hardly make a meal.
My original opinion is unchanged. I remain thoroughly unimpressed with the place will likely not be returning or recommending it.
Redds! Good spot for getting wasted. Seriously. Bar food is OK - nothing to write home about. The place is rather big. It gets pretty wild on bar nights and is rather dead during lunch time. Â The staff is very friendly and always ready to chit-chat. They deliver food to the Hampton Inn down on Patterson Plank road, which is how I found Redds. Lots of TVs around the bar. Â I say you check it out, it's a good time.
Review Source:Working nearby on a Saturday, looked for the nearest place with decent reviews.
Ordered two burgers to go, and while they were cooked adequately (medium/med. rare), they're nothing to write home about! The meat was nothing special, and we were quite disappointed with the taste. Too much bun, no condiments included (mayo, mustard lettuce, tomato, anything?)
The fries on the other hand were plain AWFUL! They weren't crisp at all (despite a mere 5 minute drive), had no potato taste, and they kind of tasted like soap.
Maybe sports bars on a lone strip of NJ road don't have much competition, so they don't need to take very much care in their preparation. All I can say is never again!
I'd given it one star, but the bartender was nice enough.
came here for drinks after the giants game and cocktails were only $6.50 - great deal! Â
didnt get to try the food, but the place looked clean, crowd was pleasant, and they had many tvs showing the game - i wanted to give the place 3 stars. Â however - upon checking into foursquare for the "newbie" special [ one free drink with the purchase of a drink ] im showing the bartender my phone and she tells me she doesnt knw wht foursquare is? Â false advertising = minus a star. Â both bartenders on staff could have been friendlier...
i would still like to come back and try the food though because the menu was very diverse... Â i will certainly update my rating then - hopefully giving it more stars.
ok, first of all i have no idea what everyone on here is talking about. Â I went to Redds for dinner, ordered the meatloaf that tasted like a tv dinner and my boyfriend ordered some sort of shrimp pasta.. they cooked the shrimp for so long that they tasted like rubber and the sauce on it tasted like you were eating a lime. Â I would rather eat McDonalds off a toilet then go back to disgusting Redds.
Review Source:My fav is their pizza, but everything is great on their menu. Very nicely priced and they always get you seated right away.
Decent happy hour (if you sit at the bar)
warm weather, I like to hang out on the roof top with my friends, Â order buckets of beer, and relax.
this is a great resturant if your going to see a game or concert since its a 1/2 a minute away from Giants Stadium and IZOD...
