Enjoyed the beer selection but otherwise the service & food were mediocre at best. As a traveler, I need to be impressed the first time since I won't always revisit places if they don't strut their stuff on the first go-around. Â These guys didn't.
I nearly sent my sandwich & salad back as the lettuce smelled a little funky but I was too hungry to care. Â Thankfully nothing bad happened to the stomach! Â I miiiight give it another try since it's across from the hotel my company uses, but time will tell.
The Refuge welcomed our group of 25 bicyclists out for a ride and a beer for our annual poker ride on a Saturday afternoon. Â There were only 2 waitstaff and they accomodated us with a smile and warmth! Â We had just come from the Tavern at Bown Crossing where they treated us like crap, so it was amazing to get this great service with a smile! Thanks to the wait staff at the Refuge for making our bike trip way more fun! Â We will definitelly be telling all of our friends and family to come and pay a visit!
Review Source:I've been coming here for the last few years as I fly in to Boise almost weekly for work. Â It's located right next to the ParkCenter Marriott and has a much more laid back atmosphere than many of the places downtown. Â
The staff is friendly and other than football nights it's usually not too busy and they have free wifi making it an ideal place to spend a few hours after work. Â They have a few TVs usually set to whatever sporting events are going on and a jukebox that will kick in periodically. Â There's also one pool.
The food is decent bar food with the wings and chicken bacon wrap being particular favorites. Â They have wine and a decent selection of beer on tap though I don't usually stray from the Rogue Dead Guy.
They have a poster on the wall for a Guinness Float if you're feeling brave. Â Not a mistake I'll try twice.
I ate here since it was next door to my hotel. Â Dead on a Wednesday night, with not much to recommend it. Â The burger was fine and the beer selection was decent, if small. Â No atmosphere at all and the menu is uninspired. Â You're better off going to Bittercreek Ale House if you're up for the trip.
Review Source:I'd give it a two, but the staff makes it better. Â
The Refuge is your typical pub. Â The snacks are a bit expensive, yet the burgers are tasty. Â Happy Hour runs 4 to 7, which is good because work always seems to run after 5.
The pub hosts several TVs and will gladly find the game you want to see.
