Checked this place out after walking out of Drogerie a bit underwhelmed.
Part of the Regent Hotel it's chic, dim and full of beautiful people, yet not too pretentious. A bit pricey but what isn't in that part of the beach?
The Drinks:
It's another in the trending mixology bars, but they did it right (like Broken Shaker), with daily drink specials, Daily Spiked Punch, big ice cubes, long spirally stirring spoons fresh herbs and such.
I'm a Old Fashioned fan so I tried their's which was made with 10 yr Old Eagle Rare Bourbon set me back $20 but it was a nice stiff big drink made with skill you get what you pay for and where you pay for, I know tons of places to get cheapy drinks.
I'll have to try the fruitier/wilder cocktails some other day ($14)
The Vibe:
Great, go there nicely dressed. You can sit outside or inside great either way.
Definitely will go back for more.
Great bar tucked away from the hustle and bustle of South Beach. Located in the back of the Regent Hotel, we decided to check out this place based on just a small number of Yelp reviews. When we got there, it was pretty empty - we just wanted to get a drink after dinner so I guess it was still early on a Sunday night. There were a few regulars there (I think), the bartender, and us. The bartender was very nice - he added our favorite drink, the Vieux Carre, to the day's drink menu. I typically like my drinks a little stiffer, but they were still tasty. The ambiance of the place is really cool too - classy with an old school feel. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to have a good cocktail in a relaxed environment.
Oh also, the bartender hand carved an ice ball for us!
Leave it to me to discover the only speakeasy in Miami. Â I felt so lucky to have this bar in my hotel. Â The drinks are delicious. Â Danny, the head bartender, is super nice and does an excellent job. Â Feel free to give him a spirit you enjoy and whatever taste you're looking for and he'll be happy to mix something up for you. Â I went to this bar every day I was in Miami and enjoyed it as much every time.
Review Source:I was honestly astounded to find this place in my hotel.
Let's just say it: in South Beach, you expect to pay $15-20 for a watery liquor+mixer in a plastic cup. You just have to suck it up and pay the price for the privilege of being in Miami. I never expected to find a place that served up extremely well-made cocktails for the same price. I saw my standard drink order on the specials menu, which rotates daily, and it was one of the best versions I've ever had. I took one sip, recognized the vermouth they used, confirmed it with the bartender, and fell in love. For my next drink, I let the bartender, Danny, take the wheel and come up with something for me. It was equally delicious.
I just can't recommend this place highly enough. Outstanding service, outstanding drinks, and wonderfully relaxing decor. What more could you ask for?
Low key, unpretentious, speakeasy bar in SoBe. Â Ironically, it is mainly frequented by a select few local connoisseurs of mixology. Â FYI, the Bacardi teams often frequent this establishment as a result. Â You can be sure that the drinks here are quite posh, well balanced and delectable. Â I recommend it to the very discerning drinkers who enjoy a great Pimm's Cup or Hemingway. Â Feeling risque, ask the bartender to surprise you. Â You won't be disappointed. They have great taste. Â
Btw, the ambiance is amazing. Â It is dimly lit, dark wood with a modern appeal. Â The bartenders themselves look like they came from a different era. Old world class with a modern luxe vibe. I am kind of shocked that it isn't crowded. A spot like this in NYC would be a hotspot. But it is counter intuitive to the typical tourist "party" scene. Â This is very much for the Mr. Grey's of this world...
I had a drink at this newly opened spot last week with some friends. We spoke with the manager Josh for a while as he described the vibe he was going for. I think that Gale Hotel does a great job at achieving a cool vibe without the exorbitant prices or touristy feel that one typically finds at SoBe hotel bars. Definitely check out the rooftop if you have a chance. As well, there is a soon-to-be opened downstairs lounge - The Rec Room - that is also going to be worth checking out. According to the manager, it's intended for mainlanders (like me) to get out to the beach by creating a space that is not pretentious, not too-high-priced, and generally cool. Think, Bardot, but in SoBe - focus on great DJ, cool drinks, might get a little dancy, but without breaking the bank.
Review Source:Stepped into The Gale property and what a lovely hotel. Beautifully renovated but kept the art deco design. One of the bartenders from the restaurant escorted me to the rear of the property (by James Ave) The Regent Cocktail Club in the lobby bar. I felt like I stepped into a 1920's speakeasy. I asked for a pear martini from one of the flapper style cocktail waitresses and I got in a retro champagne glass. The place is really cute to sit and have a cocktail. Jazzy old roaring 20 's tunes filled up the atmosphere taking me back in time.
