Good food, good service, good drinks!
I came in with a group of around 20 people around noon for their lunch special. They don't take reservations, but I called ahead just to make sure they would be ready for our group. $8 for a burger or sandwich, fries, AND a beer? Nice! I got the bacon brie melt, which was yummy. You have to add another dollar if you get any beer other than their draft beers, but my Cider beer was amazing. Everyone in my group was satisfied with their food, and service was great. Drinks came out fast, water was constantly refilled, and plates were taken away once we were done. When asked, our waitress kindly took our orders individually, so we could eat pay our own bill. So so nice of them to do that! I will definitely be back!
Went for their Sunday brunch. The breakfast panini sounded great, but was very chintzy with the ingredients. Mostly just bread with a little filler. My friend got the beef dip, which looked delicious, so maybe not order from the brunch menu.
Biggest complaint is with the service. Waitress seemed offended if we ever needed anything. Also should not offer bottomless mimosas if your waitress only comes around every 30 minutes to refill. Waitress was disinterested in being there at all.
The second star is merely because it's open at 11am on Sundays, and the patio is pretty nice.
I really have nothing bad to say about Riley's - it's a great spot on second street, and I find myself there quite often! The service is great, the staff friendly, and the food way better than it should be for a bar.
Riley's is a great spot for Sunday brunch with their bottomless mimosas for $9. You get your choice of juice (I go with guava, definitely a revelation!), and the servers seem to make multiple rounds of the place in that last half hour of the promotion to make sure you get your fill.
The food is pretty good as well... the "usual" on the breakfast meal is a breakfast nacho hybrid amazingness... the sweet potato fries and steak salad are also well worth checking out. Mondays nights also get you half dollar burgers.
Visitors should note that it's beer and wine only. The outdoor patio is also pretty great, but fills up fast on nice days!
I have lived in Long Beach for about 6 years now and Riley's is my go-to spot for good food, beer and service! I have never had a bad experience here in any department whatsoever!
First off, you wouldn't think that a typical bar would have excellent food. I have probably tried every single thing on the menu and everything is just delicious. My favorite is their Steak Salad and Chicken Ceasar Melt. So simple, yet so delcious!! They also have amazing fries.
The best part about Riley's is the overall ambiance. My friends and I go in here all the time to just get some beers and split their amazing apps. My favorites are the nachos and grilled artichoke. They are both AMAZING and so well priced for how much food you get. They have excellent beer choices and in big goblets that make a summer day just that much better. They are always running daily specials and their happy hour is one of the best in Long Beach.
The outdoor patio is great for a football Sunday with friends and great weather! The server's are always so sweet and friendly, which makes any restaurant experience easier. We always seem to have Danielle as our server and she is always great. So attentative, fast and always cracks a joke to make us laugh and feel really welcome.
All in all, Riley's is a GREAT place for excellent food, great beer, awesome service and an all around enjoyable experience. I will continue to be a customer for years to come!
I had purchased a Group-on deal here and waited until the last week before it expired to use it. Â I came on a Tuesday around 5ish and there was a good crowd there. Â Seating was easy, we pretty much sat anywhere we wanted. Â The waitress was OK, she didn't come by as often as we wanted, but the food made up for it. Â I had ordered the mushroom burger and surprisingly, it was delicious! Â I was expecting the usual bar food, but it was actually quite tasty! Â Will definitely come back for game nights!
Review Source:As spring and summer approach, tossing back a few suds with some food fare is the norm. Â When you're ready to do that in a nice outdoor seating area with the ability to people watch, then you should think about Riley's. Â This is also a decent family spot (before sundown mind you). Â I took the family here and we had a nice snack as we walked up and down Belmont Shore. Â Expect to spend about $20 for a couple of appetizers or $25 for two main dishes. Â If you're thirsty, you can add in your normal drinking bill to this total.
I haven't experienced the entire menu, but the food choices were adequate enough to fill the belly for extended foot pounding down 2nd Street. Â Plus, the staff is super friendly. Â That's an added bonus.
My fiance and I came here with a Groupon ($20 for $40 worth of food and drinks), and were waaaay surprised with the quality of food and service at Riley's.
There aren't many bars that can say they serve up some awesome brew AND pizza. BUT, the pizza here is actually tasty. I mean, prosciutto pizza in a bar? Right on. We came on a Thursday evening, and the place wasn't too packed. It took a few minutes for someone to greet us at our table (we sat down in the back), but service was stellar from that point on.
If I'm craving pub pizza and I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back!
I've been here a handful of times, and it's always good, but I've never felt the need to write a review. Â That changed after last night. Â My boyfriend got a groupon -
App:
Calamari - this wasn't so great. Â It really didn't have any flavor and was rubbery. Â I think they could do a better job with this. Â However, the couple next to us ordered the nachos and those looked awesome! Â SO MUCH FOOD. Â At least 4 - 5 people could share it.
Dinner: Bacon Guac Burger (with a turkey patty). Â Was IMPRESSED with the turkey burger - it was so flavorful. Â The burger itself with the Applewood bacon and guac was really great. Â I'm sitting here thinking about how I NEED to have it again. Â My bf got the bbq which also looked good- the grilled onions added so much flavor.
The drinks - can't go wrong with Strawberry blonde from BBC!! Â I love the big goblets - I have to pick it up with both hands but the drink stays cold! Â I hate when I get to the end and get a mouthful of warm beer! Â gross.
The waitresses were friendly, attentive when we needed them, and did not rush us. Â Riiley's is very clean for a bar/restaurant.
We used a Groupon here at Riley's for some dine-in food ($20 for 2 meals, an app and 2 beers). Well worth the $20 coupon (originally priced for $40).
You typically don't find pretty awesome food when you walk into a bar. After searching Riley's on Yelp and checking out some of the pictures fellow Yelpers have posted, I agreed on Riley's with my friend.
First off, Riley's is right on 2nd Street...people watch from the patio if you want. There are plenty of beers on tap including the commercial beers also. The BURGERS are awesome and appetizers are also good. Make sure you wash your burger down with a nice brewski. Service was good even though I think two employees on a sunny weekend day wasn't enough. The place was packed and the two were running around a lot but still gave great customer service.
Parking could be an issue so look for metered or neighbor parking. Go to Riley's for the beer and food. Do grab the Groupon if it comes around again.
Meh..... This place is good if you have a groupon. I have been here a bunch of times on the groupon.
1. Ok beer selection.
2. Service is usually pretty good.
3. The food is alright and the price is alright.
4. I really like the hummus. HUMMUS HUMMUS. It's kinda spicy and weird not like any other HUMMUS I have had before. It also comes with veggies to dip in it so it is carb free friendly. SKELETOR ALERT. They also have an OK Salad selection which I find hard to find sometimes..
5.... DOG FRIENDLY! (But the pooch still has to go on the other side of the stupid fence.)
I wish the prices and food were a bit better, but I'll return once another groupon is up or when I'm craving the HUMMUS.
Good night Hummus xo
OH YEAH DO NOT ORDER THE CHICKEN FINGERS/STRIPS
They use to be amazing and then SOMEONE took them off the menue and when I ordered it they said they could still have the cook make them, however when I got them they were fried in the same oil they do fish and chips in or something. They reek of fish and the breading texture was just like fish and chips style. HORRIBLE!!!!! Beware!
after reading about ten reviews I notice a lack of comments about the pizza. Â guess i should have checked yelp before we went yesterday to watch the play-off games because that is what we ordered. Â pizza's were not good at all but perhaps we are spoiled by Simmzy's & Michael's Pizzeria in Naples. Â pizza was too doughy and just lacked in flavor even though there were roasted brussel sprouts, feta and bacon on it. Â hubs ordered a pizza with arugula that literally had toasted dark brown arugula on it. Â i've never seen such a thing! Â again, Simmzy's arugula pizza is a bijillion times better. Â the left-over 3/4+ of each is sitting in the fridge where it will sit until i throw it out.
on a positive note the hummus crudite plate was very plentiful with carrots, thick sliced cukes, celery, Â broccoli and toasted pita. Â we definitely liked that. Â and the beer, there ain't nothing bad to say about the beer. Â an ice-cold schooner of beer is always a welcome delight. Â
so broken down i would give the pizza 1 star, the hummus platter 3 stars, the beer 5 stars and the service 4, ergo 3 stars total. Â we'll be back but next time i'm gettin a burger!!
We have been here twice using our groupons. I think the burgers are better then the sandwiches. The fries are good. The beer is served in a frosty chalice. Â What more can you ask for?
The service is excellent. Â The outdoor patio is wonderful for people watching and seeing the game on TV!
We have been back several times.
Went here for the first time with a Groupon. Ordered the hamburger on sourdough with Brie cheese. It was freakin awesome!!! Cooked perfectly and so freaking deelish and juicy. The service was also great without being overbearing and I loved the atmosphere as well. My bf had the cubano hamburger and he enjoyed his as well. Definitely would come back again.
Review Source:The main reason my wife and I went here was it was available on groupon and is an easy 15 mile round-trip bike ride. We were very happy with what we found here. It is a wide-open spot, with a few TVs for sporting events. Our waitress Danielle was awesome! She was the only wait staff during a lunch rush. She kept on top of things, while hustling like crazy and being friendly as heck.
The food was super tasty, buffalo wings, baja tacos and a jalapeno cream cheese burger between us. It looked like a pretty decent selection of beers, though we stuck with sodas. Though we had a groupon for our meal there, the prices looked really reasonable, especially for this area of town, Belmont Shore.
One reviewer wrote something I agreed with, splitting an appetizer and an entree would be more than enough for two people unless you eat A LOT. The food was so good, that I did eat more than I was hungry for, so needed to pedal an extra 10 miles not to feel too full. ;)
I must say that I really didn't know this part of Long beach existed. The neighborhood was packed and parking was sketchy at best. Fortunately the city was offering 2 hour free park which I haven't heard of any city doing.
Anyway, after a nice long brisk walk through the neighborhood I walked into Riley's and was immediately sucked in by the amount of televisions such a small place had. So it was sports central immediately. Â
I ordered the bacon and brie melt on sourdough. I figure try something different that my norm. The beef was so delicious. It definitely let me know that fast food is garbage. Pure garbage. Not only that the mac & cheese really kicked it up a notch.
I drank 2 stellas artois with my meal and this was also great with the pulled pork sliders I had. Â
I enjoyed my visit though there were some moments that was a bit slow waiting for water and food. By far they food was great and the service was awesome.
I see myself coming back for sure. I don't think they have parking.
Not a bad thing to say about this place. Excellent food, customer service and ambiance.
We ordered:
1. Chips and Guac appetizer: Homemade tortilla chips, excellent guacamole and salsa.
2. Mushroom Burger: My wife ranked that burger as one of her all time favorites. Big, thick, juicy patty cooked perfect and the bun was bakery style.
3. Apple/Walnut/Blue Cheese Salad with Chicken. Great salad, lots of walnuts and blue cheese.
I had the Coconut Porter beer, which was a decent porter, but I didn't get a hint of coconut. I'd go for something else next time. Wife had the guava mimosa, she would go for the mango one next time.
Our bill totaled $34.
We had too much food for the two of us, next time we could share an appetizer and burger and be satisfied.
This will be a Long Beach stop for us when we return.
RILEY'S ROCKS!
I'm usually not a big bar & grill fan, but Riley's has changed that! Since I first ate here about 6 weeks ago, I have been back 3 more times! I've lived in the shore for about 6 years and I'm upset with myself that I didn't try it much sooner! Everything I've eaten here so far is awesome! Everything is fresh and made from scratch. Not the typical frozen, crappy bar food that you usually find at most pubs. The Calamari, the Nachos, the Cream Cheese Jalapeno Burger, the Chili, the Mac & Cheese, their Salads...all great! The servers are polite and attentive. Their are plenty of tvs throughout the place so you can catch a game while you are enjoying your drink and meal. The portions are pretty generous. I've yet to save room for their dessert. Hopefully, one day soon, I'll make room for their Schooner Sundae!
Came to use a groupon and loved it! We ordered Hefs, spinach dip, fish and chips and shrimp pizza. The beer was obviously great. The spinach dip was so good and what made it better was the chips! They seemed to be homemade and were awesome. The fish and chips didn't disappoint. The fries were skinny and yummy! The shrimp pizza was stupidly good. I have had shrimp pizzas before but they severe the best I have tasted. The service was super good. Our server was very nice and attentive. We came from far to use the groupon but I would defiantly take the drive to eat here again. We also watched the Galaxy soccer game which, because of LA winning, made the entire ambiance awesome. I will be back for other sporting events and awesome food!!! Thank you Riley's!!!
Review Source:I frequent Riley's on Second street. I really like their happy hour and daily specials. The lunch special is GREAT! Awesome selection of beers and the menu isn't the biggest, but offers a wide variety and literally everything is good! I usually get the chicken tortilla soup and chicken quesadilla. The pulled pork sandwich is freaking delicious too! My mom says their fish n chips is the best she's had. My boyfriend often gets the burgers and loves them all- the guacamole burger is very messy though. The mac'n cheese appetizer is very good and the salads are huge. Not too hip on the chicken wrap- the chicken was dry and not enough meat for the huge bun it was on.
The service is usually good. Attentive servers and the busboys are always on point!
I love sitting on the patio to people watch or see friends on the street. The rowdy bunch from Shannon's next door can get annoying though.
Love the artichoke appetizer, the beef dip sandwich and the tri tip sliders are also bomb.
Service is good; Danielle is a cool chick whose service is always on point ...
Only 3 stars though as (besides the items mentioned above) I haven't had the best experiences with their food (pizzas etc.) and the layout/crowd kind of sucks...
Worth checking out
A group of 6 of us came here 2 watch game 6 of Lakers vs OKC. . .
This place is a fun place. Â The waitress was spectacular. Â She was friendly and attentive despite of how extremely busy it was. Â
This place only serves beer and wine. Â The fill up a huge chalice if you get beer.
The food was good, HUGE portions. Â
At least we had an amazing waitress despite of the Lakers being kicked out of playoffs!
I used to go to the Riley's on Anaheim ALL THE TIME and loooved it. I thought that this one would be the same, but was sadly let down.
The food was alright, but nothing special. I will definitely be going else where when I have a burger craving.
The service was pretty bad too.. We waited a while for someone to come take our drink orders.
Overall, this place is decent... just not what I had my hopes up for.
Pros: great food, good beers on draft served in huge schooners. Personal favorites are lobster tacos and turkey bacon avocado club sammich. Good pizzas too! Nice sunny patio for outdoors seating. A personal favorite for weekend lunch.
Cons: usually very crowded and busy, can be tough to get seats especially on a game day. Also very very loud...which I guess is to be expected for a crowded  sports bar. Not a fan of this place for breakfast for various reasons.
Best place on second! Cold beer, great food, specials all week long and hot waitresses!!
Great lunch special Monday through Thursday 11:30-3 and Friday 11-3

Food is good, staff is super sweet, location can't be beat! The owner is there a lot too, which is a good sign. He's super friendly and always willing to help. you can tell he loves his business and cares about his customers!
Recommend:
-Wings and calamari are awesome for happy hour, which is half off appetizers Monday-Friday.
-house salad with their delicious ranch and Caesar salad are always fresh
-all the sandwiches are great too
- and get a schooner while you're at it
Pass on:
-the tacos. All of them have the same Baja sauce and taste the same. Too much saucy and thick mayonnaise based sauce is no bueno. But then again, it's not a Mexican place.
All in all, it's a great place for any meal, plus it has any and every game on that would could possibly watch :)
***EDIT: changed my rating to five stars. Theyve changed their menu to make the food even more delicious and the staff is just plain awesome. Especially my favorite lil Danielle! :D
I don't get the Hype of this place. Yes, it has a great location and a big menu, but they just didn't deliver in a way that would have me come back.
The waitress was great.
The restaurant smelled like barf, then when they opened the back door to take the trash out, they kept it open while they shuffled around the trash in the dumpster (or whatever they were doing back there) and they let flies in. They it started smelling  like trash.
The food was alright, but not great. The burger bun was dry and way too dense for the rest of the burger. It was sloppy and hard to eat and without even asking, they cooked my burger well done. It was also dry and crumbly which I'm sure added to the sloppiness of the burger. Â
The trip tip quesadilla had a good flavor, but the pieces of tri tip were large and a bit tough which made the quesadilla difficult to eat.
Ok so I may give them  another chance, but its only because I didn't pay for my lunch today. And I would sit outside next time!
I feel that I may be lynched for writing this review... call me a martyr in the name of finding good breakfast in Belmont Shore.
I come to Riley's fairly often. Â What can I say... it's conveniently located within walking distance of my house. Â I also go because I love breakfast (easily my favorite meal of the day), coupled with a mimosa or a good bloody mary, and this place is the only (tell me there's another--- PLEASE!) place I can get those things, at a decent enough price and with a good environment. Â It's just a really nice, chill thing to do on a Sunday. Â It's the little things. Â :-)
Riley's has good energy, lots of TV's for the sport's fanatic and attentive waitresses. Â Prices are fair enough ($2 mimosas on Sunday-- keep 'em coming!!) and most of the breakfast entrees are between $7 and $8 a plate, but expect to your plate to be mostly full of potatoes. Â While I like my food to be served quickly, it was weird today when it came up about a minute and a half after we ordered. Â The toast was stale and had obviously been out a while. Â My first Bloody Mary was okay, not terrible, but certainly not great. Â Still, I gave it another go. Â The second one WAS terrible. Â Way too much Worcestershire sauce. Â I went a week ago with a different friend, and our potatoes (seriously-- it's the bulk of the meal... they should be awesome) were undercooked.
I keep thinking that I should just start getting lunch when I go there. Â I have an idea (based on the other reviews here) that that may just be their strength. Â I just love breakfast... eggs, bacon, sausage... the whole nine yards. Â Why is this so hard to find on 2nd street!? Â
So... my advice. Â Go to Riley's and have a few mimosas. Â Just hang on to the menu for a while. Â Get good and bubbly then you won't notice the food (breakfast) so much.
I can't write anything but a biased review because I know the owner so I'll deduct a star: minus one star=the one degree of separation of knowin' you, bud. Â it's gotta be that way.
But the 4-stars are for the nachos, which I almost always get, a piled-high mess of tastyness, their uber-awesome tortilla soup, and their drink specials. Â I ordered a $2 pint of Newcastle tonite...two fucking dollars! Â Props for the stimulus prices!!! Â I can't say that my friend and I received Joe-schmo treatment tonight because we got hugs from the owner and I'm sure our server saw, so I don't think it's fair for me to comment on our VIP treatment. Â So I will throw in a star for our server being cute...Janice Dickenson would do it. Â And I'll throw in another star for the big-ass t.v. in front of us and everywhere else so that when I turned my head, I was still watching Kobe dunk. Â I will also say, though, that if I had eaten there with my friend Anna, we would have ordered every damn appetizer on the menu because we wouldn't want to miss out on anything good.
This so isn't fair, I know, but I don't get into clubs cuz I don't know any bouncers. Â Riley's always treats me like I was beautiful enough to get in.
This place doesn't do it for me.
Maybe I just have high standards -- they have a pretty good beer menu, and it's definitely better than the restaurant it replaced (what was it again? that's how much I remember it). The food is surely improved, but the only real advantage of this place seems to be the patio. It's a nice place to sit, but George's is just across the street.
But I really expect more of bars in Belmont Shore, and this place is right next door to the king of bars in Belmont, Shannon's Bayshore. There are many other places within walking distance that are much, much better.
