The best coffee.  I always get a "wide-eye" from the Union Station location and it's always really well done.  Store is always well kept, and staff is always helpful.

Visited this shop that sports a giant banner claiming to be the best coffee shop in NJ. Rock and roll vibe and signature drinks/blends named after bands was kitschy at best. They listed pour over coffee on the menu which I was excited for but unfortunately don't offer it any longer due to a lack of interest and forcing them to waste beans. That's a shame because it probably made for a way more memorable experience. Coffee was pretty weak and I'm glad I didn't purchase the whole bean (solely because the roast was close to expired).

Service was extremely nice and courteous though my drink order took a while to prepare. Won't be returning but definitely not because of the very friendly staff.

Great local spot with not only good coffee but tasty and fresh food. Customer service is great. The staff keeps the place very clean also. Will surely return.

I am a coffee junkie!  But I don't live in an area where there are a plethora of coffee houses.  And when I say coffee house I am talking house blends, specialty flavors, and un-coffees.  I also expect to see a menu with some fresh almost home cooked sandwiches and small dishes.  Pastries, cookies, cakes... whatever as long as it's all there.  Now, providing that all of these requirements are met I an comfortable sit and have a coffee.

Rockin Joe's makes me happy.  On a cold day I indulge in a sexy Vanhalen.  When I'm in need of something cool I go for a Frozalita.  And try a sandwich while you are there.  Yummy yummy oooohhhh weeeee.  It's in an awesome spot in Union @ the Union station.  A very healthy but doable walk for me on a nice day.

There are several locations but it is in no way "chainy".  If I can't get my coffee like this I am going to 711 and making my own.

I love, love , love Rockn Joe's!  The best coffee I have ever had. Beats every NYC coffeehouse I have been to. Once you settle in their comfy chairs with your coffee and scones it is very easy to miss your morning train! I go out of my way to visit on non work days as well. The staff is outstanding, the food is fresh and delicious. Every day more and more people are finding this hidden treasure. By far the best place in Union to relax with friends. Oh and the hot chocolate is great!!

Rockn' Joe has excellent coffee, delicious sandwiches and desserts.  A warm, friendly staff greets you as soon as you walk into the cafe. The ambience is hip and trendy with upbeat, rockin' music in the background.  Best place to chill and relax alone or with friends.

I'm not a believer in being a member of a captive audience.  Nay, I don't know many people who are.  Sometimes, it's not by choice - e.g. the required courses in college, the gossip and fun-facts monitors at the checkout line in supermarkets, waiting at airport security, etc.  But sometimes it's by glorious joy that you get to be a captive audience.

Case in point: bad captive audience - the Edison train station, where I used to take the train from.  There was a newsstand with a regular old coffee machine that sold mediocre coffee.  The waiting area was too small for the mass amount of people there.

Case in point, positive captive audience - the Union train station and Rockin' Joe.  If you're waiting for a train, or if you're like me - a bitter, insomnia-stricken IT professional who spends one too many mornings in the unholy 2-5 AM time block working on the nightly backlog of tickets so you have less to stress over/grumble about in the AM - you might want a cup of coffee to clear the fog.  Coffee they do, and do well - different roasts.  Not in the Starbucks sense of dark roast = way way charred, medium roast = seriously charred, and "blonde roast" = just charred.

Sure, sometimes you want your coffee to hit you back like cheap Scotch, in order to make you more awake and alert by the bitter fire of strong drink.  No, they do it proper.  To be honest, I'm a "black, one Splenda" kind of guy so I don't go for lattes or stuff, but the people who get them seem to be happy with them.  When you're getting coffee at 7:10 AM and your day has yet to begin, it's hard to pull off happy.  The dark roast is smooth and powerful, the medium roast is bright enough but still potent, and the iced tea and iced coffee are cold and unsweetened.  No syrupy dreck served to you, unless you want it that way.

Special plus for their croissants - they get it RIGHT.  No, really, their croissants are very, very good.

Bo, the owner, gets points from me for breaking out of the IT world and still managing to keep some sense of niceness.  He's always up front and working hard, very willing to do stuff for you if you need it.  He's been able to translate my world-weary mumbling into my usual order, and it's always quick and ready.  Plus, when NJ Transit's got their B team running and you show up for your 7:12 only to hear "Good news, everyone!  The train will now be your regularly scheduled 7:42, and twice as crowded because of it!" you can at least kick back in a comfy chair there, charge your laptop, and get some morning relaxation, because heaven knows given that timing you'll get none on the train.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, while Rockin' Joe is the only coffee place in the Union train station or easy proximity thereof (Dunkin Donuts notwithstanding) it is quite good for a coffee place, and merits your time and attention.

Convenient and close by, this "rock'n" coffeehouse has a wide variety to choose from. Warm and friendly staff to go with that warm cup of coffee in the morning. Makes the morning commute all the better with a cup of Rockn' Joe in my hands.

This is the best coffeehouse in town. Friendly staff with quick service. I love to stop by before I catch my train or even to relax on Saturdays. It's conveniently located and has a great vibe. I also enjoy all the events they host. I went to a game night with my kids and they had a great time.
