Decided to try Ursino on a Saturday night without a reservation. Lucky for us, there was 1 table available in the bar area. We were able to order off the same menu as the dining room. The food was delicious! We had the mussels and short rib cavatelli as the appetizers. For dinner, I had the pork and my husband had the duck. The desert was also outstanding.
The service was exceptional also. We will definitely go back. Next time, I'll make a reservation if it's the weekend. We were told most reservations are made 3 weeks in advance. If not, I'll go back during the week to enjoy their food.
The atmosphere is very architechtural and perhaps a bit "cold"; the bar,especially, presents as uninviteing. The food however, ROCKS! The service was prompt and attentive without hanging on the table and their menu advice also helpful.
I will definately return as I'm a true blue foodie.
BTW: a bit of a trick finding the place, as it is on the Kean University campus behind the science building
Was excited to check out Ursino for my birthday last month. Experience could not have been better -- wonderfully inventive food, beautiful setting, attentive and knowledgeable servers who seemed eager to make the experience top-notch. Interesting selection of craft beers and wines by the glass. Looking forward to their "tour and dine" event when it returns this summer.
