    New favorite pizza alert!!!

We couldn't decide what to get, so we winged it.  No...we didn't get wings...we got a thin crust pizza with Italian beef, Giardinera peppers and black olives.  It tasted almost exactly like a beef sandwich...but with a twist.  If you've never tried this combo...I highly recommend it!  Oh...and a few icy beers of course.

OK. It had been a while since I ate here. So I made a voyage on a day where I was in no hurry. I also went during a "non-peak" time (mid afternoon). I went during a time when I knew there would be football As usual, the place was clean and some improvements from my prior visit (specifically on service). For starters, I was offered daily food specials/appetizer specials (which was not offered on my last visit). I had a nice table so I could spread some of the stuff I was doing. My server was also very attentive.

So let's go to the food. I figured since there was a $3 special on certain items, I would go ahead and order a couple of things from there. I was pretty impressed with the portions. I ordered some chicken wings and they were just that, big wings and drums (VS the drumets & wingets other places serve). I ordered the hottest wings on the menu and I'll say it. It wasn't nearly as hot as I thought they would be. Now a disclaimer- my tolerance for spice is MUCH higher than most people. They were still very good. The "1/2 order of nachos" is what some places would consider a full order of nachos. This was a nice surprise. I wish they had some salsa or pico de gallo of  some sort. I recall their burgers were solid as well.

Simply put. A place that I don't pass often but if I'm in the neighborhood, I would stop in. Decent value for your dollar. 11AM-2:PM Monday-Friday is an all you can eat buffet. Fortunately, they serve Dr Pepper. No other P-word for me.

Roundhead's is a Sports bar style pizza joint located off of Roosevelt Road in Lombard. There is a large bar and lots of TVs set up with ESPN on, there's even a few coin-operated arcade machines inside.

They have the usual menu you might expect of most pizzerias in the area, but what makes Roundhead exceptional is the quality, at least for their stuffed pizza. Most Chicagoland pizzerias serving stuffed Pizza's follow the Giordanos method of making a stuffed pizza, which appears to be as follows. Step 1, get a wheel of cheese, step two, bake some dough around it. Step three smash a tomato on it then throw on some salt. Step four bake.

What makes Roundheads pizza such exceptionally high quality is the fact that the dough is well made, the cheese isn't as excessive as most stuffed pizza's and perhaps most importantly the quality of the sauce. The roundhead sauce is very tasty and is thick, it isn't watered down by cheese grease and flavors the rest of the pizza very nicely. Overall I don't know a better place to get a stuffed pizza than roundheads, and that's saying a lot considering the number of places I've tried over the years. The only thing to keep in mind is that roundheads does have a long wait to have your stuffed pizza ready, and the menu warns you ahead of time. Expect to wait an hour or more for your pizza to be ready, but when it is, it's well worth it.

Today's experience dropped my rating of Roundheads two stars.

A lunch buffet should be well-staffed, because the servers don't have to serve any food. After sitting at a sticky table and being served a beer for the buffet, my friend and I were basically ignored.

A partial cause might have been that we were blocked in: a big group of at least 20 came and the people at Roundheads decided to create one very long table for them, making it hard for us in the back of the room to get out. Pretty stupid if you ask me. Can one person on one end of a very long table actually talk to someone on the other end? If you have a group of more than 12, you should make it two tables instead.

On a buffet day, people will wish to leave their seats for more food, but that became difficult, especially with no service. It wasn't as if the server looked at us from the other side of the big table, seeing if we needed anything. We did, but she didn't. I had to push an elderly woman's walker out of the way to get to the buffet. Tell me that's up to fire code. (Oh, and sorry, lady.)

And what's a buffet without food? When we first arrived, they were out of tuna bites and rounditos. Then they were out of pizza. Then both pasta dishes and the sausage part of "sausage and peppers" were gone. And we waited a long while to see anything fresh appear. When new pizza came, it was one single pizza with mushrooms (which my friend can't eat).

Really? One pizza for the lunch buffet crowd? You are a pizza place, right? I would've asked our server what the deal was if the food, had I been given the chance.

The buffet was no busier than on other days; the big table was ordering from the menu. So why was today so surprising for them? (There were a lot of husky eaters there, but you expect that at a buffet.)

My friend wanted to pay by credit card, but after 10-15 minutes with no one checking on us, we gave up and left cash. We're typically good tippers, even when the service is bad, but this was putrid enough to make a statement with our tip. Will they get that statement? Who knows.

I'm willing to give Roundheads another shot; it was only one day, after all. But it was a terrible experience, and if this were my first visit here, it undoubtedly would've been my last visit here.

Went to Roundhead's last night for game six of the Blackhawks. Unfortunately game was a bust but the bar was a good time. Walked in and was amazed by all the TVs  and scrolling update status bar. Bar had a great feel to it, almost like a great Towny bar. service was great, nice and attentive. Good beer specials,  didn't get to try their pizza (next time for sure) but the apps were nothing special. But definitely a great bar for game night with your buddy's.

Stopped in on a Thursday night with some amigos. Hockey was on so there were quite a few people. We ordered beers and for food we got the Texas cheese fries, some wings and nachos that we tweaked a bit. All we said was we wanted the nachos but instead of the chicken we wanted the pulled pork. I mean is that too much to ask? Well I guess it was because the whole order got f'd up. Luckily the manager came over, apologized and took some money off the bill. Not that it mattered because we would have paid regardless but the waitress needed better communication.

    Anyways, still average.

I don't know, this place is fine. I will probably eat here again in the future. It just didn't wow me in any way at all. The service was ...pretty bad actually. The server didn't really seem to have any clue what they were doing, and it seemed like that was kind of the norm. The food was good. A little expensive but just fine. I didn't really love the atmosphere of the place. It was just a little dark and seemed like it was trying to be something but I couldn't really figure it out. It's not that this place is bad, because really it isn't. It's fine. That's it. It's just fine. We might be back. If we're in the area. But hey, we might not.

My husband and I go here fairly regularly when we're itching to get out late on a weekend night.  The food is decent bar fare, the service is generally fine, the restaurant in general is just OK and we've never had to wait for a seat.   They have decent draft specials ($3 domestic, $4 craft) on Saturday nights and they have a good beer selections all the time.  The bar area has lots of TVs.  They also have some killer late night deals on their appetizers.

For you Illinois fans (or for you fans of other Big 10 teams): this bar does NOT have the Big 10 network.  So for those nights when you just want to watch some Big 10 basketball, avoid this place.  Your next best choice is Buffalo Wild Wings down the street, but if there is a UFC fight on, you're out of luck.

You know when you breakup with someone and they promise to change and you truly believe things might be different the second time around, so you give them another chance? Well, it's kinda like that.

It's been a year and a half since my first visit to Roundhead's and it will most likely be my last. Well, that's not entirely true. I still have some gift certificates. I'll probably come back at least once more to use them up. So this was my second to last visit.

When I came here originally our party had a less than stellar experience and Yelped it. The manager, upon reading our reviews, contacted each of us individually and offered us four $10 gift certificates, apologized for what had happened and encouraged us to return. That was great business practice on their part, so I would like to extend my gratitude toward him for taking the time to try and make things right.

With that being said, the food just isn't enough to make me want to return without coupons or freebies. I came for the lunch buffet and the items were hit or miss. I enjoyed the fried chicken (it's kinda hard to mess up fried chicken), the sausage and peppers, and the mini brownie bites. That was really it. The lemon chicken had a strange consistency (I almost spit out the first bite), the battered fish had a frozen aftertaste, the potatoes and gravy were ok, and the beer cheddar soup was gourpy with a very Velveeta taste and consistency.

For $8 it's not a badly priced mini buffet, but I tried a slice of the Chicago style pizza again and found the same results as previously - the sauce is sweeter than I like, the cheese is rubbery and the crust is very chewy without much flavor. I'm sorry Roundhead's, I have nothing against you; I just think we should see other people.

Great food, BAD service. Wondering if we had the same server as Chrissy W (see review below)?? We arrived at 5:30pm on a Monday (4 adults, 1 child) and were finally served pizza at 6:30pm. I asked the server if this was pretty typical here and she said that a thin crust pizza takes 30 minutes to make because its made from scratch.  Okay, that sounds fine...but, it would have been great if she would have greeted our table and explained this from the beginning with the option of putting our appetizer and pizza order in at the same time.  Appetizers also took 25 minutes (1order of potato skins, 1 order of dough balls).  Restaurant was not busy!  Probably half of the tables were occupied.  REALLY LONG WAIT TIMES FOR FOOD!  Good luck getting a refill on water and soda too!

Total bummer about the bad service here because the  food is really good and the price is right.  Specials everyday and on Monday they had $3 appetizers!  Pizza was excellent...doughy, not too greasy, good selection of toppings.  My boyfriend wanted chicken and onion on his half of the pizza, but unfortunately they couldn't do chicken even though they have quite a bit of other chicken meals on their menu.  I had pineapple on my half...YUM!  Great pizza! Dough balls with the garlic dipping sauce...fantastic!

Dough balls!  For all you NIU alumni, the dough balls are very similar to the ubiqious beer nuggets in DeKalb.

The pizza is good, but oddly (and I can't explain why) it looses something when reheated.  Very odd, since this is the exact opposite of most places.

And why no coke products.  Those plastic glasses are bad enough, but when filled with Pepsi, it's undrinkable.

However, if you are around for lunch, go there for the buffet lunch.  It's an awesome spread.

I've been to roundheads a few times, to watch various sporting events, most notably, the superbowl last year.

The bloody mary's were delicious.  Just the right amount of spice.  I sucked a few of those down in no-time.

The place filled up, but I mean it was the superbowl... the food was alright, typical bar food, we didn't opt for the $50 all you can eat buffet, and didn't order pizza.

The service was meh, if I remember correctly, we were there in the middle of a shift change, and our first server was OVERLY friendly, while our second ignored us all together.

So, kinda a typical bar experience.  Nothing abhorring, nothing to write home about either.

You know, I usually enjoy Roundheads (hence 3 stars instead of the 2 that I wanted to give based on the service), but I took my dad there for pizza a few weeks ago, and found the service to be less than the usual pleasant and efficient servers at Roundheads. I don't know her name, and I really wish I did...but our server was overwhelmed to the max. She had the entire north end of the restaurant to herself it seemed, and she could NOT handle it.

We waited for a few minutes before anyone even greeted us, and brought menus. Another 5 minutes before the server even arrived...When she asked what she could get us to drink, I asked about the beers. She listed off the drafts, seemingly annoyed with the fact that I had asked at all, which made me not really want to ask about the bottled selections, since I was already apparently putting her out. It's fine that you don't have a drink menu, but get the servers to pleasantly list off your beers, so you can sell 'em. We ordered our pizza then, as well, unsure when she would return. She did spend a little extra time flirting with a table of guys, which may have perturbed me just a little bit...as I was sitting there with an empty water (wishing I had ordered that beer). Finally after 45 minutes our thin crust pizza arrived. I've eaten here before. It has never taken that long for a 14" pizza to arrive. Ever. It wasn't even delivered by our server. She barely came back to check on us. She had too many tables and could not handle it. I'll return for sure, because I rather enjoy the pizza and the atmosphere, especially during football season, but if that chick ends up being my server again, I'll definitely move tables. Disappointment to the max.

Clean, great friendly staff. They really did a good job turning this into local fav for the area. Pizza was good, came to us hot, the waitress kept us well hydrated with their nice selection of tap beer. She didn't even get mad when my buddy knocked a giant, full glass of water off the table & all over the floor. Good menu, with a really nifty burger selection.

They have a really cool scrolling screen with scores, stats, fantasy updates behind the bar along with numerous, nice TVs. I am an official customer now. Good for kids, families or to hang out with friends.

I've made no secret of the fact that I am absolutely in love with sports bar style restaurants and all they have to offer. I'm always searching for new places that have some hidden little gem on their menu that makes them worth returning to.

I think I may have found a new one, and better yet, it's near my new house.

First and foremost, the appetizer menu here is ridiculous. In hindsight, I almost wish I had forgone the usual appetizer/sandwich route and just gotten several appetizers as my meal. We ended up going with the pot roast waffle fry nachos which sound so absurd, they had to be good (and they were!) Great real cheese on them, crispy fries, and good bits of pot roast made this a unique treat.

The sandwich (a fancied up Italian sub) was pretty good, but the fries, oh man the fries. Handcut, dusted in... something tasty, and in such abundance too. Sure, I hated myself for it later, but you get that plate put in front of you with that many fries on it, you feel pretty happy.

The atmosphere is pretty much a roudhouse. Brick walls, scratched up wood tables, and of course more TVs with sports showing than you can shake a stick at (where the hell did that expression come from?).

The service was average, nothing exciting, but nothing to complain about either.

So yeah, I'll have to be back. I really want to try their pizza, and with all those appetizers, this seems like the perfect place to get a beer (they have a pretty impressive beer list) and eat some dough balls or nachos (gotta try those).

And I have to say, that I think it's quite appropriate, that as I move into a new place in Lombard and start this new phase of my life, my 101st review reflects my new home.

Roundhead's has a mascot of sorts, their little drawing of a ... round head. With eyes. But no mouth. And a little hair. They draw it everywhere. On checks, on take-out boxes, etc. It's just that kind of place.

It's also the kind of place that has TVs everywhere. Any sporting event you could think of, plus Food Network, and CNN just for yucks. Lots. Of. TVs.

There was a little confusion with our waitresses, but once we got sorted, she was quite attentive without being annoying.

The food... pretty good, I'd say. We started with pot roast waffle fry nachos ... say that five times fast. We opted out of the bleu cheese, and it came with waffle fries, pot roast, oodles of jack and cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and... some sort of peppery seasoning, which was slightly odd. Overall it was very tasty and we devoured it, although the pot roast was not quite as juicy as I'd hoped for.

I ordered fish and chips for my entree. What I received was an enormous pile of hand-cut skin-on fries, a lemon wedge, tartar sauce and four ... well, they were sort of fish nuggets. Large chunks of cod, but more round/nuggety shaped, as opposed to the "fingers" you usually think of. They were piping hot and nice and meaty.

Overall this is the sort of place that's good for a casual Friday night dinner after a long week, especially if you really like sports.

We went back, we ordered a pizza and I was happy. The pizza takes a bit of time, depending on what kind of crust you order, but it was worth the wait and it was fantastic. Not the greatest pizza I've ever had, but pretty darn good and a good deal for the price.

Do yourself a favor and get the pizza, or the wings and ignore the rest of the stuff on the menu. This place makes good pizza, everything else is at your own risk.

I first experienced Roundhead's for a Sam Adams beer tasting event. They paired a bunch of beers with some of their food and it was all very good. The lasagna is one of my favorites along with the fish and chips. They have excellent pizza with lots of topping choices. Great drink specials daily. And their dough balls appetizer is spot on. Great place to watch a game too.

    3.5 stars

I considering the rating to be good considering that I got dragged here and didn't want to come here.  We got there around 4ish and we were the only people sitting in the dining area while everyone else was at the bar area.  I got to hand it to them for accommodating to us craft beer drinkers for having a well-rounded selection.  Most of the craft were from Midwest breweries like Bell's Goose Island, and 2 Brothers.

My Patty Melt was ok but would of been better if it wasn't so greasy.  They forgot to charge me for my pint of Goose Island Green Line but when your server is the barmaid and has to take care of everyone else by herself, expect mistakes to be made, not that I'm complaining about the error.  Bill came to $25 for 3 including an appetizer, which is very good.

The music was very bothersome, which probably made us finish our meals asap, as it played bass-pumping Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and random rap music the whole time!

A good place to nurse a beer while watching a sporting event, but not for dining in.

I'm gauging the restaurant here - not the bar.  My daughter and I visited today for a pizza lunch.  The server brought out some crayons and paper to color.  (no, not for me)  We ordered a 16" pizza with half cheese and half meat.  It took about 25 minutes to get the order and the place was empty.  But when it arrived, oh boy.  It tasted great.  We had a great time and the service was fantastic.  I would recommend the pizza.

I have been to this Pizza Pub on several occasions now and I must admit, the only thing I've tried is the pizza which is very good. Nice thin crunchy crust with plenty of toppings and very consistent in flavor which is VERY IMPORTANT.
I must admit, its kinda pricey beer/drink wise so this isnt a place I could/would hang out at, but it is good.
I will continue to get pizza from there.

Great place for groups, friends, and to watch the Bears games!! They have jersey raffles, and even gimmick nights like on Sunday nights you roll a pair of dice and get whatever beer off the list that number is on for only 2 bucks! Great way to try new beers. The food is way better than Miller's (also in Lombard) and the environment is too. It has everything you need in a sports bar with speedy service and flexible management when it comes to orders and payment. I come here with friends often for games on Sunday and Monday nights. The only downside is that you cant come here for a simple dinner on game nights! You will not be able to get a table for hours! If coming with big groups, get here an hour before the game starts at least! Great Pizza too!!!   See also "Another Round" in downtown Downers Grove!

So, the owner sent me gift certificates to return and give the place another try.

I finally made time to go, and I am 100% sure it was my last visit.

While the service was much improved, the food was a miss. The minestrone soup was cold and very salty. My dining companion ordered baked mostaccioli and received regular, very boring looking mostaccioli. My burger was just ok, and the fresh cut fries were good.

Roundheads is a place to get drinks, watch the game, and order food as an afterthought. With so many other dining options in the area, you can do much better.

So, after I had a rather bland experience and expressed it here on Yelp, the owner sent me a message. He explained that my business was important to him and that he wanted me to give Roundhead's another shot.

Because I live so close and feel everyone should get a second chance, I took my boyfriend with me to try another side of the menu. We went during the week and were happy to find a great drink special after being warmly greeted at the door. The service was wonderful and feel like the server wanted us to enjoy ourselves took care of us without being over the top. She suggested the wraps (rounders) and we followed her lead by ordering two different kinds. They were both very good and HUGE. Dinner, a bucket of beers, and lunch the next day for a very reasonable price.

Good choice Mr. Roundhead, I enjoyed my second stop into your place. I will be back.

I love going to Roundheads after work or to brush up on my trivia.  It also is a place where everybody knows your name.. and I like that too!  The owners are in quite often and the managers are really nice.  The servers are always friendly and usually recognize us when we visit.

There is usually pretty decent drinks specials going on and they have some pretty good beers on tap.  If you're hungry, EAT.. it's not normal 'bar food' it's really yummy.  I love me some fresh cut fries.. The pizza is super duper delicious and pretty much everything I have had was satisfying.

There's tons of TVs so if you are going in to catch a game, get there early, it usually fills up pretty quickly.

I'm a fan of this place.  I was glad this place made good use of the old Uno's space, and they really dressed it up into a nice neighborhood place, a good gathering spot.  I usually come on Thursday nights when they have trivia.  The food is delicious, especially the dough balls appetizer.  Comes with two cups of marinara and one cup of nacho-style cheese sauce.  Their lunch buffet also features a nice variety of stuff including chili, soups, pasta, salad and of course, pizza.

My only complaint is about the guy who runs the trivia.  Nice guy and all, but two things bother me.  Last night our team won the night, and he came over to congratulate us, but he also all but suggested that we were using our phones to get answers.  Also, he always takes a lot of interest in the girls in our group.  Again, i'm sure he's a nice guy, but don't be so obvious about it.  It doesn't take away from my opinion of the food or service, so no extra reduction here.

The staff is great, and kudos to them for being so nice and helpful, but the pizza is rather expensive and not all that great, as in it's really greasy. And as I am one who doesn't factor staff reviews unless they are very negative, my 2-star rating is solely on the pizza. Either lower the price or make the pizza better, because the prices just aren't worth it.

Exactly what I need...another lunch time pizza buffet. Roundhead's Pizza used to be the home of Uno's, which I was told was never really busy. It's actually a pretty cool environment on the inside. Definitely sports bar mentality with the many many many plasma televisions that all over the place. You won't miss any games here.

The pizza is decent, nothing to brag about...worthy of a return. However, I don't know of any pizza joint in Lombard that screams for me to come back to. The buffet runs during lunch from 11AM to 2PM. For $7.99, you can pick from various pastas, pizza, various chicken dishes, salad, etc. It's not a buffet of bar food, but actual filling food. I really don't need to get in the habit of buffet and beer during lunch. I'm sure my boss would have a problem with me coming back half loaded.

While they do have a full bar, I did see kids there during lunch.

Lombardians, if you haven't been there, go check it out.

Pizza's good, and so is their Ma's salad but their prices are a turn off for me. They do have a lunch buffet that goes for $7.95 per person and is good for the price if you're hungry. Nothing is lowfat mind you on this buffet, the chopped salad is just eh okay...nothing can live up to my favorite Portillo's chopped salad...sorry Roundhead's, stick with your Ma's Salad for your signature and put it in the buffet, but not if it up's the price.

The positive is,it's a great place to meet up with friends and catch a game on the many flat screens here. The owner is friendly and makes his way around the tables. Nice atmosphere, but I think they can make smaller servings on some of their entrees and offer a more affordable price.

I also noticed they are starting to introduce bands here at this location. Worth a try; go on a day the Bear's are playing and get their taco bar for under $5 bucks. Oh one other thing, the $2 Margarita's on Wednesday are so water down, don't get too excited about that drink special even if it is two bucks.

I have been to roundheads a few times.

The first time me and my bf got the lunch buffet.  Nice variety of choices from tacos to salad bar to pasta.  Its a good deal at $8.   Our waitress was really nice and offered me some bread for my soup.  You get a little lemon ice cup at the end of your meal too. Yum.

Next time I went to watch a college football game.  I got there at about 11:30 am on a Saturday and was the only person there.  The staff and bartender were very friendly and personable.  They turned the speakers to my game so i could hear it while I was there.  The margarita was strange, it was clear and tasted like watered down tequila.  Bartender made me another fruity drink that was good.  I got the buffalo chicken roundito that was yummy, but huge.

I went there recently with a group of friends.  Service was slow.  The nachos are NOT good.  They had melted cheese and some wierd slimey cheese sauce to fill in the gaps.  They got a huge pizza and had about half left even with 4 people eating it.

They have great drink specials on Wednesday.  $2 margaritas and beers.  Perfect.

Its close to my place and I will probably go there often

We had a fantastic first time dining experience at Roundhead's last Friday evening.  We arrived at 6:30pm and were offered one of the tall tables in the bar area.  Everything on the menu sounded so good.  I ordered the rib eye steak sandwich and I have to say it was the most delicious rib eye steak sandwich I have ever eaten.  Usually you have to tear into a rib eye steak sandwich but this one just melted as I bit into it. It was done to a perfectly requested medium.

The only thing we did not care for was the fried dough ball appetizer.  It is a huge platter of small fried dough balls with a marinara dipping sauce. The dough balls have no seasoning so I did not enjoy this appetizer.  I will order something else next time.

Portion sizes are very good.  Two women at the bar ordered a nacho appetizer and after eating it for 30 minutes had barely eaten half of the plate.

After your dinner you are given a complimentary small cup of Italian lemon ice.  That was a nice treat and literally left a good taste in our mouths.

Before leaving, the manager stopped by our table to ask us how everything was.  I mentioned the delicious rib eye sandwich and he said they order the best beef around.  He was very nice and friendly.

It is a little on the expensive side so we probably will go back about once a month.

My coworkers were looking for a buffet that could fill the void that the closing of QQ Buffet caused.  $7.99 (don't get drinks) is good and we sure like all you can eat (or is it... eat all you can!).

Keep in mind that this is a pub so lower your expectations, but here are some of the highlights:
Spinach & Artichoke Dip (tastes great)
Pastas - Gnocchi, Penne (as good as Olive Garden)
    Taco bar (beats Taco Bell)
    Pizza Selection (good enough)

At least they had sports coverage and the place was big enough.  Go in groups of four since the seating doesn't look friendly for more if it is busy.
